Well done ! Congratulations on your new role. Working in the NHS is the best decision you have made because having worked in the ward and now a Clinical Research Nurse ,the benefits are enormous aside the money being small. When i had injury in May,i stayed home for almost two months and i was still paid in full. The peace of mind is great especially when you have a good manager. All the best in your new journey.❤

To anyone watching this and thinking it’s not a good idea to move from the care home because of the money, I left a care home that was paying me £48,000 in 2019 to take up a £24,000 job in the NHS, and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life. I’m currently a deputy team leader in operating theatres for one of the biggest trauma centres here in England.
Choose personal development and job security over money cos eventually, the money also comes in.

@@evelynantwi3362 There’s actually no hurry in this life, which is true, and the point I was trying to make is, nobody should think moving is a wrong idea; that’s all I’m trying to point out.
When I made my move, I was only 10 months here in the Uk, so nobody can say I made all the money before leaving and seriously the thought that money is made only in the care home/ or the care home pays better is a facade.
Majority of the care home nurses work 44/48hrs a week, and that’s where they make the money. The NHS is 37.5hrs a week, so if the person does bank shifts to fill the hour gap, plus work weekends and nights, that NHS staff member clearly earns just as you or more in addition to the benefits you don’t get in a care home.
Just move when the time is right, but what you have to understand is, the more you wait, the more it becomes difficult for you and that’s because when you move, the NHS isn’t going to match your salary, which will make you feel like it’s a wrong move.
Let me not talk plenty cos everyone knows what’s best for them.

No disrespect...the views and sentiments are not entirely true...Having worked in both care homes and nhs, there are a few things that need to be stated....
    1. Sick leave is not unlimited . If u are offsick for a day it known as a period right and same if you are off sick for a month its still recoreded as a period. These off sick periods irregardless of length or count are picked by the system and they feed into your fitness to practice analysis ,hence you have to give a reason each time and if longer than 7 days you have to be backed by a GP note, note your supervisor is inconstant contact with you during this time and she passes the assessments to the occupational health and risk assessments that can lead to unfitness status..so it can not be abused. Offsick is also paid in full for 3months, and titrated down by 6th month the basic u receive is not anything, so dont be misled, read your contract well well..
    2. Note..NHS salary is very small 1500 ..so if it is your main source of income we mostly supplement it on Agency right? So note ,If u are offsick u are not allowed to do agency work it is considered fraud..so an ordinary person not a you tuber with only this income of £1500 salary ...if you need money and not sick you cant afford to be sick for nothing. Thats the truth you end up back in work to sustain ur side hustle which is Agency....
    Part 2 below
    2.

I moved from NHS to care home not really because of money but stress and toxic working staff. In the hospital I felt nursing in UK is too difficult. However, in the nursing home is easy with more money. Despite enjoying the care home work I still feel I will go back to NHS in the future because there is no career progression for care home nurse.

I just love the way your open. congratulations Nanelle. keep shining

  • @candytee88
    @candytee88 13 днів тому +5

    Part 2 continued.....
NHS specifically HSCNI-- the majority of the units on long days have 13hr shifts. The working hours for a day that you are actually paid for is less, mostly day starts at 07:45 ends at 20:45..1 hr 15min break is not paid...hence if still on COS you will need 37.5hrs to meet visa sponsorship requirements hence when they calculate you 37.5 hrs breaks are not counted and you end up doing one extra day a month to full fill these hours. It is long hours with burnout 😢
4..Note because the money is bad, you end up at work most of the time, to keep ur Agency side hustling going, and this leads to burnout, why because those with other income avenues / benefits afford to be offsick, the floor will never be fully staffed.. they know their system well, when they are due for assessments or when their salary starts to dwingle of sick leave they return to work briefly, before leaving again for another 5moths..and who is covering the floor the broke ones, why because you need ur Agency shift and you cant do it on offsick it is consideres fraud.
5.A) If you dont like being broke and exhaustion. B)if u already have your experience in hospital and just craving adrenaline rush, do join bank staff please abeg.. and still maintain your experience..
Just sharing my expeeience on NHS vs care home specificially on what Nanelle has shared... but otherwise l need an invitation to the podcast on this issue😂😂😂😂😂...because all the negatives you said abt care home are present in NHS twice as much 😂😂😂 believe me its too early for a comparison... as foe progrssion, there are nurses with 5, 10,15 20 years of serving the Trust still awaiting Trust funded progression or even promotion😂😂😂😂... but l know you are honest you will come with a true comparison for now l repeat its too early😂😂😂

Nanelle stayed in care home for five years earning great money and managed to buy a house while working in a care home if I’m not mistaken. I believe she’s now moving to nhs to get clinical skills. But we shouldn’t discourage people from working in care homes as there are some really great care homes out there. Wherever you work in health there are some ups and downs. It’s good for her to say the benefits of going to the NHS but let’s not forget she worked in a care home for 5 years and the care home money helped her financially. Now that she’s moved to the NHS it seems as if she’s discouraging people to work in care homes when she herself worked there for a whole 5 years

I know thinking of moving can be daunting and I do agree with your hubby to secure your passport in UK before moving but definitely with your skill set and experience after few years, it would be worth the while best in America and I also think moving with a smaller family and while still young is better than when you move with a larger family and much older in age than now but in all things, commit your plans to God and let Him direct your paths.

Don’t say that. Get access to more information then make a decision. I just left the care home to NHS myself, but the experience from the care home is so valuable to ignore. Anyway, I’m sure you know what’s best for you. All the best😊

Good for you, but not for everyone. You can be earning more in your current work at the care home than the NHS. According to your contents, it shows to those who are still working at the NHS, feeling undecided whether to leave to find a nursing role in a care home. Your earnings, decisions for leaving the NHS is your own opinion.
As far as l am concerned, l will always love to work for the NHS. There's adequate careers opportunities, and l love the department l am working.

I also struggled during pregnancy I would say between family friends and my nhs job I Dont know who pampared me more! Because the support I got from my employers I still can't believe it. To be honest if you have plans for babies go for nhs job oooo! I almost fell for care home job money when I was about moving to the Uk, but because I had experienced care home setting in some other country I had lived and in fact I didn't last more than 2weeks in d job oo I ran to hospital setting cos the toxi!!! city was much 😂😂😂 I admire people who can work in care home settings! I can attend to same patients in hospital kind of setting but you see that care home settings where some staff be acting like the own it 😊😂😂 its not for me ooooo

Definitely moving to nhs as well, funny enough my care home will even push you to work as a care assistant when they are short staffed with carers, just because you’re an overseas nurse, I have gained 2 years of work experience in a care home but I think this video is a reminder to move out!

It's really sad the private sector is this way. There's something called Income Protection, i encourage care home workers to get this insurance for themselves. The monthly premiums are not expensive. I can help you through it if you still want to remain with your care home

I watched New Amsterdam and as always, I make up my mind to leave the care home after watching medical dramas but of course I'm not easily swayed. Everyone should map out a plan for themselves and understand why they even choose what they have. Notice how Nanelle left after ILR? Think well.
