I'm local to this case. Tylar is definitely a sociopath. I'm 45 years old now and losing my parents is still like my worst nightmare. My parents are in their 70s and they still are my rock and the heart of our family. These two are equally culpable and should receive the exact same sentence.
My Mom passed away 7 years ago and I miss her more than I could ever possibly say. Just the thought of hurting the one person who was always there for me is beyond comprehension.

To hear a Mother making a call to 911 because she is afraid of her own 14yr old daughter is absolutely heartbreaking. How miserable that woman must of been in her day to day life? RIP
To hear a 14 year old daughter making a 911 call, claiming that she's her own mother being beaten by her 14 year old daughter and afraid and in danger is just ... bizarre.
yeah it is almost like hitting kids is a bad idea... she spoiled a monster while also abusing her and then everyone is surprised when it ends like that; that kid wanted a way out and couldn't find one so she made one in the worst way possible. It is just sad all round
This child is very street smart. The moment the cops went from mere questions to accusing her outright of murder, she ORDERED them gone, and requested a lawyer. Scary. Me at 14 would have been a quivering teary mess at the police station with grown men interrogating me. This girl got off and I have absolutely no doubt she was the one who killed her mother. May the friends and family be at peace today and always.
I worked very hard to get my kids to immediately request a lawyer if they were detained by the police. Even more so once they were driving but I have no idea if they would have had the wherewithal to follow through if something happened. I know my daughter handled her most recent car accident and the very nice police officer last month well.
Im sorta concerned about who she will grow up to be. She can grow out of this narcissistic phase, maturity is helluva attitude adapter, but she can equally well turn up even worse. If I was a betting girl, Id put my chips on the latter, her seemingly being the primus motor of it all and something within her demeanor says so, but thats just my gut feels of her.. Also, policing (in US) has changed so much, its just smart to teach your kids the basics (always film the police, know your rights, ask for parents & lawyer, dont answer any questions). Todays police isnt there to help you, they are there to build a case against you or much, much worse. As a long time member of police reform/auditing community, Ive seen too much and every time I think it cant get any worse, it somehow always will. I get your point, Lisa, but times are unbelievably different now.

This was not the result of meeting a bad boy whose influence changed her. I bet his family wish he'd never met her.
This is depressingly common. People refuse to admit that family members like this are responsible for their own actions. It's always someone else's fault.
True. She was abusive to her mother and defiant long before this guy came on the scene. For the sake of her family I hope she matured some in prison because if they truly believed that then and still do, then they're surely letting her back into their lives and things won't be pretty if she doesn't get her way. This one sure was a humdinger! Great job Mikey! My thoughts are with the family and friends of this evil little vixen's poor long-suffering mother. May she rest in peace.
Why did they assume Steven was the murderer when Tyler (1) had a history of physically abusing her mother, (2) wrote in her diary that she would kill her mother if she couldn't be with Steven, (3) wrote in her diary many times that she wanted her mom gone, (4) Dylan Deutsch (or however it's spelled) suspected Tyler of killing her mother, (5) almost unquestionably Tyler would feel more rage toward her mother than Steven would? I mean, do we have any reason to believe that Steven was anything more than a Goth dork who was guilty of statutory rape? I find it hard to believe that such an individual would think his life was over or feel homicidal rage because he couldn't see a certain girl any longer.
All of that plus there was just a miniscule amount of male dna on the body. Such a small amount that it couldn't even be tested. I think Taylor did it before he got there.
Our society is extremely biased against men. For example if the genders were reversed nobody would bat an eye at a 14 year old boy dating a 19 year old.
@@CathyDoll-qb7ogNow you’ve gone too far. Just because he might not be guilty of the slaying doesn’t mean he’s not a child predator (he is). Either way, he’s where he belongs. The only problem here is that Tyler deserves to still be in jail too. The injustice is that she got out, not that he’s still in.
As a former 14 year old girl myself I’m pretty darn sure Tyler was the more mature of the two and would not be at all surprised if we learned later she set the whole thing up. He just doesn’t seem that bright and a 19 year old boy can often be at the same maturity level of a clever girl that much younger. I bet she had him wrapped around her finger.
She's easily the master mind of this whole thing, the bf and her are probably at swapped age levels in terms of emotional maturity, and it's a shame she's given a second chance while the woman she murdered won't be.

I never realized how many murderous psychopathic children that are out there murdering grandparents & parents.. I went down the wormhole a couple weeks ago & watched a couple documentaries on the subject then I guess the algorithm started pushing more videos on those topics to my feed. I think this is like the 7th video I’ve watched about teenagers killing family members & there seems to be an unlimited amount on the topic.. It’s so tragic. RIP to the poor mother of this story. It’s so horrific & heartbreaking but it’s even more hard for me to wrap my head around this fourteen year old girl who’d be a willing participant to kill her own mother, I mean by god she’s almost still a baby in the sense she’d just of been in elementary school a couple years prior.. it’s totally mind boggling.. Sending Love & Prayers to the family/friends that have lost their loved one in such a senseless & horrific crime!!
And this story was from back in 2009… it is 10x worse after covid. They kill themselves, each other, schoolmates, teachers, parents, police. I dunno what’s going on, but it’s definitely eye opening. These two kids were under 25, as most of these offenders are, their brains are not even fully developed, so not sure that they can even comprehend the gravity of consequences headed their way because they live in their teenage social media bubble. I usually blame the parents and some actually deserve the title of shit parents, but this woman was trying her very best to keep her little monster safe, but also not recognizing that her monster probably needed mental health support. And the fact that she’s already out on parole is absolutely shocking.
@@whyamiheredlb After reading your message & also spending an unhealthy amount of time thinking about this subject, I think you mentioned two things that could possibly be the main driving factors of what seems like an epidemic of violence of our youth. Social Media & Mental Health. You combine the two in today’s world & it’s a Toxic Combination, especially when you add in the Internet & single parenting. I think these kids have undiagnosed or ignored mental health issues & then they live in a fantasy world between social media & whatever craziness they are absorbing from the internet. I’m a father of two teenage boys, one is now nineteen & the other is seventeen but I never allowed them to have any social media with the exception of what they had to use for school, I also put them in a Christian Private School when they got to junior high. I grew up in the 80’s-90’s & I don’t ever remember hearing about kids killing people outside of gang related things but it seems like there’s more killings happening domestically nowadays then gang members killing each other. It’s scary & extremely sad stuff. It’s like we’re breaking down as a society. I don’t know why but these horrible stories have really hit a nerve with me. Thank you for responding & sharing your thoughts..
There are more children than people realize who have severe mental illnesses or personality disorders. Therapists are hesitant to diagnose significant issues in children, which I can understand to a degree. But there are many disorders that can be much more effectively managed if caught early. A big part of the issue is that the parents are so often blamed and/or they believe that they are the ones who understand their children the most. I've been getting a lot of criminal children videos (yeah, my algorithm went a bit wild with this recently), and if the youth committed a non-murder crime or murdered anyone other than the parents, the comment sections are filled with, "it's obviously the mother's fault." I've taught in residential facilities, and it's so heartbreaking. Most of the parents had healthy other children, but they felt guilty because Suzy had schizophrenia or Billy had high antisocial traits.
Yes, there are more stories out there these days but it's worth remembering that there are twice as many people in the world than there were just 50 years ago. This has always happened. It's still the rarest form of murder. It just grabs the headlines.
I love to listen to your videos. You have a great mix of respect for the victims and humor to make it easy to digest how terrible some people are. Best wishes for a wonderful 2024!

It’s outrageous to me how these young girls plan to kill their parent/s, actually go through with it, rope their sex hungry boyfriends in and get a lighter sentence. She should also be serving life without parole. There’s a serious flaw in the law in these cases.
I agree 100%. The district attorney screwed up royally when they offered her that deal. I believe she killed her mother. And now she walks free. It was kind of ridiculous hearing her family members talking about what they hope happened to the guy in prison. I mean he's a piece of shit for having a sexual relationship with a young girl, but he is not the killer. Were the family members delusional-- thinking that Tyler was just manipulated? They are wrong. She will probably kill again. You can see the evil in her.
"...these young girls.." ? You comment as if this happens on a daily basis. 14 year olds are not adults and the court system recognises they are not adults and do not have the mental capacity or maturity to comprehend their actions or consequences.

I'm shocked that a child knew to ask for a lawyer right away and not to talk to the police. Just saying- that's the smartest thing to do. The police are never on your side when you're being questioned even if you are 100% innocent of anything. Saw a few people saying that was the biggest indicator that Tylar was guilty and I highly disagree. The biggest indicator was her words in her diary and past actions, not her asking for a lawyer.
@@azroseazlang9995 thats the thing everyone says/thinks (just like with privacy, why do you want privacy if you aint got nothing to hide?), and I guess its easy to think that if you're 100% innocent but accused of something, you migt as well just tell them the honest truth and it will prevail. But really, whether innocent or not, its best to not talk to police. “She gave Tyler everything” The first thing parents get wrong. Kids need boundarys and consequences, guidance and leadership. Stop being scared to say NO to your kids.
Thank you! I was just gonna say this. This case is a prime example of why “child worship” is such a bad thing. Parents, especially single mother’s, think treating their young children like they’re the most amazing, and unique things ever, is a how they’re going to have a healthy relationship. But then when that child hits the teenage years, they wanna try to put up rules and boundaries for a child they’ve raised to believe is superior to everyone else. It doesn’t work. This is also a good example of why masculine father figures are so important. Masculine father’s aren’t going to put up with this type of nonsense. Especially with letting their child abuse their mother.

@HardJust1ceJust because she “wasn’t a good mom” (based on your assumptions) it doesn’t excuse murdering her own mother
@@Marshi1 I didn't take it that they implicated the mom in any way, And she sure didn't deserve to die that way. I think you almost have to be soulless to stab anyone, much less your own mother.

Makes me ever more grateful my daughter is a good egg. She's 14 now also, just the kindest kid and fairly mature and level headed for a teen.
Always know that her behavior is a direct result of your parenting. You raised a good egg! Respecting a child's emotions and autonomy as though they're an actual person will get you farther than most think
It's not going on a limb to think that Joanne's parenting played a large part.
Result of great parenting.
I am so thankful for my kids ❤
Notice how one of the first things Mike mentioned is that Tylers father was never part of the picture and clearly a fathers influence was exactly what she needed. Thank yourself and the person you created the child with for being present
That’s why you discipline your children from a young age and make sure they respect the father as ultimate authority in the home.
@@richardbaker_0086she had no father lmao
The mother should’ve actually parented or at least find a father figure for her daughter,
This child is very street smart.
@lisa Hinton - agree 100%. Great comment
It’s not street smart I just watch Law n Order 😅
The fact she got parole is sickening.
I know grief is hard but the courtroom comments from the victim Joanne's brother and father showed that they couldn't accept that their grandaughter and neice was a conniving, rebellious murderer.
She may be fine for awhile but her nature may return and her manipulating her way into their lives may bite them.

"Yeah my wrist kinda hurts so nooo..." -Mike killing it.
As a parent, especially the parent of a beautiful girl, stories like this scare the shit outta me.
Tyler should've gotten more than 15 years! It was her own mother, ffs!
I think he was a victim of her too!
I actually, feel sorry, for Steven. He got hooked up with a phsyco.
Mike always delivers the best stories. I mean tragedies but delivered in the best possible way.

I've been getting a lot of criminal children videos (yeah, my algorithm went a bit wild with this recently), and if the youth committed a non-murder crime or murdered anyone other than the parents, the comment sections are filled with, "it's obviously the mother's fault."
I've taught in residential facilities, and it's so heartbreaking.
Welcome to the 21st century of entitlement and no accountabilty.

The police are never on your side when you're being questioned even if you are 100% innocent of anything. Saw a few people saying that was the biggest indicator that Tylar was guilty and I highly disagree. The biggest indicator was her words in her diary and past actions, not her asking for a lawyer.

I'm really proud of you and your posting schedule lately.
This thing with getting deals, so that another person can be convicted, is ridiculous. Where's the justice in that??
this boyfriend is getting too much of the blame... 19 isn't exactly an old hand, and she seemed plenty manipulative before meeting him with those calls to the police 😳
If you are 19 dating a 14 year old you’re a creepy mofo
He is probably dopey to a certain degree.
Plus females whine & manipulate, so they get a better go at most things.
He’s still a terrible person, hooking up with and raping a 14 year old.
She was convicted of murder. I mean, she got the blame.
“She gave Tyler everything”
The first thing parents get wrong. Kids need boundarys and consequences, guidance and leadership. Stop being scared to say NO to your kids.
Or that could just be artful language. Not literal.
"boundarys"? Dear God, I sincerely hope you're not teaching anyone - kids or otherwise - how to spell.
@@cartoonvandalslow your breathing - you CAN get through this. Luckily, this isn't a spelling lesson, so you can sleep at night. Not a far stretch to understand the word regardless, now, is it? 😂
@@emb5048 considering she never called the police when her daughter was beating her up, i doubt its artful language. She was probablt hoping if they could just make it through the puberty stage they would be fine.
This is so very Sad, and Disturbing.
"Snortin' the devil's dandruff" will never not make me laugh 😭💀
Booger Sugar
This is precarious. I would have to hear all the evidence. My intuition tells me the daughter is the main culprit.
SAME, I feel because she was so young she was just given a slap on her hand. But to me, that call, where she pretended to be her mother said it all, she is as guilty, if not more guilty than the boy. Vile
It would seem so...but actually.....it's the mother who is the main culprit.......she started it when she brought her child to life
Yes I’m sure Joanne knew before she ever conceived Tyler that she’d be a murderer, how dare she 🙄
