HARDCORE NUZLOCKE RULES (POKEMON HARD MODE)

1. Only Pokemon with a Grass-typing can be used in battle.
2. I can only try to catch the first Grass-type that I encounter in each area.
3. If a Pokemon faints it cannot be used for the remainder of the run.
4. If my whole team faints then the attempt is over.
5. No items in battle (held items are okay).
6. Set mode enabled.
7. I cannot over-level beyond the highest level of the next gym. The level cap is shown in the overlay.
8. No duplicate species can be caught. Encounters for species that I have caught previously are re-rolled.
9. Any shiny Grass-type can be caught regardless of whether it is the first encounter of an area.
10: WILD AREA: Limit of one initial encounter on my first visit and one additional encounter for each gym badge.

In anime They pronounce it Staraftar
But I pronounce it Starpatar
duraladon is actually duralee don

This really shows how useful duel types are in Type specific Nuzlockes. Rillaboom did not do very much for a big part of the game as it is just a mono type.
Absolutely - Good dual typings can really help mitigate the weaknesses of a type

@@ryan-ge1osYep. Eviolite Ferroseed has 129 Sp.Def, Ferrothorn has 116, and E.Ferroseed has 136 defense to ferrothorns 131. Not as much as I remember, but still.
@@punkipatchmusic It might have a bit more def and Sp.def but it also has a lot less HP at 44 to Ferrothorn's 74. Considering you can also then give Ferrothorn leftovers which you couldn't do with Ferroseed because it's using eviolite, I think you're still better off evolving up as, while each individual attack might do more damage, you'll still be able to take more attacks overall

@@nuzkill Which you could also give to Ferrothorn meaning you'd be able to stack lefties and ingrain/leech seed. Add that in to the fact that Ferrothorn is less likely to die in a single hit because of the over all HP difference as well as the fact ingrain and lefties restore 1/16th of the pokemon's hp meaning they'll restore more for ferrothorn than they would for ferroseed

Its a great scene to see that he won with only grass types. Though ferrothorn was the mvp, ludicolo is definitely a close second. No one forget all the pokemon that he just didnt use like rotom, they were good for emotional support :)
May I suggest keeping battle animations on for videos? It just makes watching battles a bit more entertaining and visually interesting
To add to this, during general play it’s not necessary but for the battles you plan on showing to the viewer it would be more interesting

For the first wild area encounter, oddish would've been a much more valuable teammate than snover. After reaching turffied, you can get a leaf stone and get an early vileplume, which is super strong. It can learn moonblast, really helpful with dark, fighting and dragon types.
That's a really good point. I was pretty happy with Snover because it gave me an option against flying types which gave me lots of trouble in the early game
you can get both encounters in the wild area before the first gym

Eh personally ferro max potential is curse gyro ball which is good cause ferro is already slow as heck
I tried this in sword where Ludovico wasn't available, that didnt go well....
The choice for me between doing this on Sw or Sh was made based on Ludicolo :')

this was a great video! i understand why grass types are not strived after in nuzlockes since there easier to get knocked down compared to other types, but i personally love grass types, and loved seeing how you used the pokémon’s more defensive moves or their special second typing to defeat the different gyms. i look forward to watching more of your videos! :)

Grass type are my favorite type in every pokemon game ive had my starter was grass type

I'm so glad to see a challenge later than gen 5. I'm new to your channel but I hope you'll continue that with some gen 6 & 7 challenges.
The grass type selection in swsh is surprisingly good, especially in shield with lotad. I sweeped almost every fight except Leon and kabu
You know, I almost did a grass only driftlocke..I chose grookey and nearly died to a level 5 rookidee.
Also a driftlocke is a nuzlocke but I have to deal with joycon drift. Still doing it
At the start it was mostly just horizontal, but after the first couple fights it would randomly go up a bit.
It was the beginning of the end.

As much flack as these games get. I still enjoy them.
As a whole, I enjoy them more than I did Gen 6 + 7. I can't help but feel like Gen 8 had a lot more potential though. Maybe I'll do a video on this before the new games are out

If you want a good beginner nuzlocke, Ruby with water types only is fantastic. Mudkip/Wingull can carry you through the first 3 gyms and you can get tentacool in dewford.
The water type gym: I'm too weak!
The fire type gym: UNLIMITED POWER

Good to see Gen8 runs, a really great one. Ferrothorn is my favorite grass type and the combination of body press and iron defense is a really great combo to make with stall and somewhat really offensive presence

I'm in the process of redoing my sword grass nuzlocke! Lotad/Lombre are shield exclusive, so I wiped in my first run at Kabu, but I have a plan to use Roselia with a rawst berry to stall the first turn of will o wisp and use toxic spikes twice to get toxic damage on the Arcanine and the centiscorch, and hopefully I get poison jab again to take it out and toxic stall/ protect stall with cherrim (who has morning sun to heal) and with other mons

To be frank, grass is one of my favorite typings other than steel. While they have several weaknesses they also have what I've seen some great play styles and type synergies.
I like grookey but I'm a scorbunny fan. I played with both and I like Cinderace's Signature move much better than Rillaboom. However, with that said, Rillaboom(Mine was Named Herambe) Was so good and helpful
I love how Grookey has a stick, Thwackey has two and Rillaboom uses them for Drum Beating. Grookey is also very cute! Scorbunny is also pretty cool and it has a great Hidden Ability too!
I like Inteleon and it has a great hidden ability in sniper. It is one of a few Pokémon who can use the megacrit combo

I like sobble a lot, it’s a cute little lizard baby that cries, and Inteleon I think is cool. Drizzile though...
During the Nessa battle I noticed that ferro thorn was overleveled by 1. So he kinda failed the no over leveling rule.But either way you did a very good job on this challenge Keegan J!
And ludicolo is overleveled by one in the champion tournament.

Without Ludicolo that would have been a likely wipe. I wonder if anyone can think of a consistent Ludicolo-free strategy to beat Kabu with Grass mons though?
@@KeeganJ Sometimes you don’t need type advantages to withstand hits. Your Ferrothorn may be extremely vulnerable but you could use ferrothorn in the beginning to spam iron defense since ninetales would go for a will-o-wisp. On the next turn if you use iron defense again ferrothorn would likely survive a hit from ninetales. but you can use iron defense again and again and then attack with ninetales. then you could sweep through the rest of the team
An alternative strategy is to use an attack increasing move on any pokemon. this is very risky, but most say that offense is the best defense.
It’s crazy to see how much Keegan grew as a UA-camr.

Honestly grass types is my second favorite type although it is bad against most types it can be good because of the different moves they learn like dual chop on sceptile or poison moves on bulbasaur’s evolution line they can be good in any scenario
