Much respect for staying with that car and understanding it’s not the cars fault. Many people would of sold it. Old school cool EF with good legacy. Hope you win much more brother!
My best friend of over 20 years unfortunately took his own life back in 2017. He owned a 1990 Honda Civic Si EF Hatch that was in excellent condition. I'm almost 40 years old now but back when him and I were in our late teens/early 20s, we were really into the import scene. I was always into the older 4th Generation Preludes, and he was always into the EF and EG hatchbacks as well the Del Sol. He had a 94 Del Sol VTec that redlined at like 8200 RPM and that thing was such a beast! With that said, after my friend killed himself I reached out to his family and bought his car from them. They were going to sell it to some stranger on Craigslist but I couldn't let that happen! My friend always wanted a K20 swapped EF hatch and even though I have no clue how to build cars and only know the basics when it comes to working on cars, I feel like I am *OBLIGLATED* to some how get a K20 swap into his car! I've owned the hatch since 2017 which was the year he passed away. I drove it for about 6 months but ended up buying another car since I live in the Pacific Northwest and it snows out here in the winter. I didn't want his EF Hatch to start dealing with rust since it already has a little bit of rust on the bottom of the driver and passenger doors. Seems like the rust is only on the doors of the car, but I don't want to allow the problem to get worse! Still, the car is in great shape for being over 30 years old! It's white, 5 speed transmission, has the original D16 engine in it and it's basically a blank canvas ready to be painted on! I really need to meet some car guys who know what they're doing especially people from the Honda community! I feel like I'll never be able to build this car the way my friend wanted without help. I can provide the $$ necessary to make it happen, but would need help with the actual work. Sorry for the long rant. Love your EF and this video was very inspiring for me! In the meantime, I keep his EF Hatch covered in the garage to keep it out of the harsh elements. My daily is an S4 Audi and I don't mind that car getting beat up by the snow/salt etc. in the winter months. I miss my 89 CRX si. I miss that little red beast so bad. I will have another, this time with a mild K swap... Congratulations on your win- EPIC car!!!
Been working a lot on my ef hatch auto x build, the paint was horribly stripped and has a whole patchwork or rust and old paint, looked kinda cool but I finally sanded the sides and hood. Its just in primer and I will keep sanding and priming til it looks halfway decent, then have a buddy paint pen the whole car. The main issue is the roof is very difficult to sand with how flimsy it is, and I kinda just want to get all the paint off it and leave it rusted. this is definitely motivation to keep going and set some fast times.
I'll have to show my 11 year old son this video. My son did a interview. Of the drive and he's car. Around 2 two years ago. I am glad he's getting his shine on a much larger platform. 😊
