Ayep. That was a labyrinth full of nightmare fuel enemies. And oh hey, if youre a Nosferatu, thats your bread n butter to get around the city, unless you like doin MGS playstyle above ground. Have fun!
I still only recommend the Basic Unofficial Patch for a first playthrough, sewers and all. It isn't that bad if you have Celerity or Obfuscate. While Plus Patch is a good mod, I really wish people would stop recommending new players mod the game before they get the vanilla experience. There's a reason Unofficial was split into two patches years ago. When it was one, people started to complain about the added content. That's because it's largely not "restored content", as some are only to happy to advertise it as. It's modder-created content that was inspired by developer input. It's a novel, high quality mod, but the dip in quality between mod vs vanilla content can't be ignored. It won't ruin the game or anything, but it can lead to a bumpier experience. Example: Histories. Sounds good on paper, but for a first time player, the execution is extremely lackluster. Wesp5 is convinced the developers abandoned it because it has an exploit in character creation (which remains unfixed). I disagree. I think it's because it wasn't fun for most players anyway, and there was simply no reason to try and fix it with everything else they had to do. Plus, they'd probably have to make the quiz a lot longer, too. It's a lot of work for nothing. Histories is a novel feature for someone who's played the game three times, but for a new player, it's a shit load of monotonous reading that completely overshadows any benefit it could add to the experience. After having to click on each one, read it's description, seeing what changes it makes, and then having to compare it to the previous 40 histories they just read, the player is exhausted and bored. New players are already struggling to learn which stats are important and what they do in the game, and Histories throws the character sheet into a blender and plops it back on the table. Sure they could ignore it, but they don't know how critical that feature might be, or if they're setting themselves up for failure. And as far as they are aware, this feature is part of the base game, because that's what people told them. It's the "completely restored" version, despite a professional developer making the decision to abandon that feature. Cutting Histories for vanilla, to get the player in the game faster, and with more confidence, was the correct choice. It's things like this, that led to the patch splitting. Modders don't have to care about the new player experience, but professional developers of the vanilla game do. That's just one example with a long explanation. I think making the already shitty combat harder and more complicated is also something better left to the "mod" label. As with the extra areas like the Atrium and the Library quest, which have zero regard for difficulty balance.
The 'Doom 3' sewers ... Man, I remember that horror all too well, mostly cuz the damn babies-with-wings look and certainly sound horrifying, and they sometimes gave me a jumpscare. And I was playing the game with 2 other guys in coop ! Keep them coming, I'll pretty much certainly be watching :D

Unreal Tournament has a deathmatch level that's literally called Fetid Sewers. It's a fun map: the loop of tight tunnels are the best excuse for the bouncing-razor-disc Ripper that you'll ever find in the game, there's a lot of Z-axis exploration, a few hidden powerups, the music is perfect, and the heavy use of Unreal Engine's volumetric fog makes it surprisingly pretty.

What game is that at 0:43, it looks so familiar to me and I think I played it long long ago but can't remember
"It's been a while Civvie?!"
3:08 That Sonic drowning music still invokes a little bit of panic in me
4:20 *"Yeah, trenchgun - that's WWII slang for a shotgun."*
Hi, I'm your local pedant. It's actually WWI slang for a shotgun. The First World War was basically defined by heavy trench warfare, and that's where the term originates.
Nice to see some love for Mirrors Edge. It also amazes me how good Serious Sam 2 still looks
Sewer count: *ding*
I discovered your channel somewhat recently and I have been binging your videos! If you see this man, GOOD JOB and KEEP IT UP!
Indiemaus made a civvie sewer reference yesterday and then there's this.
Gman, my man, I have to tell you Dishonored 1 deserves a video of its own. I could stay and talk for days why this game is so great but I will reduce it to one sentence: Best game ever.
Swamp levels would be pretty cool addition. Dusk's was great, and Arcane Dimensions did some amazing things with the Quake engine in this area.
Yeaa Dark Forces! The best part about Anoat City Sewers was eventually completing it and seeing Rebus, and going to next mission haha. Thermal detonating dianogas in the dark was really unique and well done in that map.
Good Sewer Level in a non-FPS: Diablo 2 Sewers of Lut Gholein
But afterwards come the sewers of Kurast, which can be pretty nasty :O
@@AlexeiVoronin yeah, hat one was annoying if you didn't had Teleport or Leap or something like that which allowed you to cross the numerous gaps if you wanted to change sides...
... and the undead puppets...
oh god that dark forces level. i remember being lost and only having landmines in my hands.
Lots 'o' shiiieeeeeeet. Good list.
Resident Evil 2 is always my first thought of sewer mission
I love sewer levels and underground levels/ areas in games, idk what it is but it’s almost like being turned on by a women who’s really pretty, that’s how sewer/ underground levels make me feel when in games!
A very fine list, and it's always welcome to see Dishonored on a list. I also must admit, that Seinfeld clip made me laugh way bloody more than it bloody should have.
Vampire: The Masquerade: 1 hour of my life, I wish I could've just skipped it at the start. If you're gonna get the game, make sure you get the patch that has the offer to skip it.
Ayep. That was a labyrinth full of nightmare fuel enemies.
And oh hey, if youre a Nosferatu, thats your bread n butter to get around the city, unless you like doin MGS playstyle above ground. Have fun!
Third maybe fourth or fith hand info. It was one of the levels that wasn't finished before launch which is why it's so bad.
Example:
Histories.
This video reminds me of 2 levels from two non-FPS games:
Jackie Chan Stuntmaster's 3 sewers levels
Syphon Filter 2's sewer level
Man... Sewer levels stink.
Ba dum tss.
You know it's a good day when Gman calls you Sonny Jim. (Dunno how to properly spell it, forgive me)
The 'Doom 3' sewers ... Man, I remember that horror all too well, mostly cuz the damn babies-with-wings look and certainly sound horrifying, and they sometimes gave me a jumpscare. And I was playing the game with 2 other guys in coop !
Keep them coming, I'll pretty much certainly be watching :D
The most beautiful sewer level I've seen so far was in Mirror's Edge. The view you get when you see cops with flashlights below the big area in the storm drain is the most memorable part for me
Unreal Tournament has a deathmatch level that's literally called Fetid Sewers.
I didn't expect to see Lost in Vivo here, but I'm glad it got a shoutout. That game is criminally underrated.
