There was 1 Tornado Red MK1 Citi built for Avis #004 As all you know citi Mk1s came in black magic pearl and shadow blue. There is 1 in tornado red #004. This car was given to Avis as a token of apprecition between the 2 companies as Avis purchased over 20 000 citis from VW.
Wow, many thanks for this information. Was this documented / photographed anywhere as we'd love to include it in our (eventual) Citi Golf follow-up video?
This series is so good! Someone I knew had a dark red / burgundy Citi with the same white bumpers and stickers. It was factory. It was the only one I ever saw in that colour. It lived in Ladysmith. I still remember the plate number, but won't post it here. I think it might have been an automatic - that part I don't remember.
Hi. I liked this Documentary. I still have a CITI BLUES. It use to be Student car and is now part of the family. I would be interested when you want to talk to owners part4 of the documentary.
they should ve imported them into germany .... we would ve bought this ... :D if it would have been possible to sell it to the germans for around 20 000 euros or less ... they would ve went well ... i would have favoured this over an MK5 golf
So many good memories of tearing around Joburg in the later part of the 1990`s in my buddy`s 1.8 CTi...
Wonderful, and probably one of the most collectable Citis these days!

Thank you for your kind comment - and that Citi sounds like something special!
Great series man, thank you very much!
Glad you like them!
Really cool review series, the Shuttle in todays money is R147 900, and the Chico at R 136 169 priced very well I assume since it was so popular
Many thanks for your comment! 😊
You missed one is the 1991 citi 1800 sport. It was white a Grey bottom side stickers and bumpers
Thanks for your comment, we'll research it for inclusion in our follow-up Citi video!
Love your videos
Many thanks!
This was a very interesting documentary in which I learned a lot about Citi Golf in general. Wow, however, the 1.8 needs to be the best.
Many thanks for your kind comment! 😊
“Kiss from the girl from Swakopmund” is too relatable
😄

Thank you for that insight!
Lol I've owned my CITI Golf for15 years. I'm not selling it. I might give it to my son one day

At some point the rental fleets in southern Africa used CitiGolfs, much to the joy of German / EU tourists! 😄
you forgot the 1.1
Wasn't that in the original (Mk1) Golf?
