Excellent video, thanks! I just bought a '90 metallic light blue CitiGolf Sport. It was advertised as a 1.6 but the roadworthy centre says its captured as an "1800" on e-natis 😊
What a great Video.. Very informative and well done. I am looking for a Golf in Windhoek right now... Just for the sake of having a south Áfrican versión mk1 in my Garage.
Superb documentary, thank you. Going to watch episode 2 now. I’ve now owned nearly a dozen VWs but the first brand new car I owned was a Citi Blues, in the mid Nineties. Loved that car but it was sadly stolen after only a few months…
The best looking 2 Door Car, EVER The Mk1 VW Golf ❤😎 All Thanks to an Italian gentleman, Mr Giorgetto Giugiaro who actually went on to design the DeLorean, Lotus Esprit S1, Nikon F4S, Ferrari 250 GT, some of the most gifted among us never get recognised Fully, Good on you Mr Giorgetto Giugiaro 😎❤
Always wondered if the pink and black citis were original. Saw one pink in Hermanus a few months ago, a pink one and a black one in Stellenbosch a few years ago. We call them the Colgate golfies.
Such a good video. Greetings fron Russia where the used mk1 Golf was very popular in the early 90's. And I think the CitiGolf could've been a reasonably priced alternative to Korean cars like Daewoo or even some Lada models.
Thanks for putting together this documentary. Was extremely well put together and a fun watch. This is years after you released it and I hope to get your opinion on this. The parfait Citi's bother me. Every record you read says they only existed in 1989. By this point we already had the facelift Citi's and the older 1980-1987 Golf (thin grill) was long gone. I have seen one on the road and there are even a few examples in your video with the pre facelift grille and bumpers. Due to the nature of Golfs, someone could have easily tried to paint and copy the parfait cars. But do you think it a possibility they were made before 1989?
Many thanks for your comment, you're quite right! We've spotted both versions of the Parfait colour in the wild - the older / thin bumper and the newer one. So there's definitely some investigation to be done, perhaps with VWSA themselves, and we could add it to our growing Citi part 5 / follow-up video. 😊
Need some advice please ! Bought an City Golf 1992 It's red and white. Taken it for Road worthy, according to VIN it's factory Black Citi Golf. Spoken to the owners that owned the car from 1998, they confirmed the car was black. But can't get any information from the Black city Golf. Only RED, BLUE, YELLOW &Pink.
@@GalimotoMedia Was the Black City sport 1.8 an Limited edition? The Son painted the car. The car was handed down in the family and used and abused by everyone...
Excellent video, thanks!

They are indeed, and rarer than most Lamborghinis! 😄
