After Superman turns back time he's able to eliminate the amount of time it took him to travel across country. That gave him more time to repair the damage done by the second rocket and lessen the amount of damage to the area. If you notice there's no hole, she just ran out of gas. That's the way I've always seen it and explained it to myself.

Christopher Reeve will always be Superman to me. Tagline was: You'll believe a man can fly. Before this we had a tv Superman who was obviously jumping on a trampoline to "fly" off. 1978 figures: Budget $55 million Box office $ 300.5 million 2nd highest grossing movie that year.
It wasn't just the glasses. Christopher Reeve was the only one who made it believable that no one realized that Clark and Superman were the same person. The scene in Lois' apartment is a fantastic piece of acting. With just a pair of glasses, a change in posture and a change in the tone and confidence in his voice Reeve became 2 different people.
I just found you guys. The guy/dad in the middle and the guy on the right were great. However, it seemed like Mike was not giving it a sincere try, checking his phone and was over the top with his disrespect. First impressions are important. Good luck to you guys on UA-cam.
Almost 50 years old and better than most of what has come after it. This is the ORIGINAL Superhero movie. Todays movies have NOTHING over this! This film made people feel good. We were happy to see Superman do good things. He was so humble it was hard not to be proud of him.
I think they made Superman too strait laced. I prefer Chris Evan's take on a lawful good paragon, or Tyler Hoechlin's portrayal of the Man of Steel. That said, Reeves' talent to play such different personas as Superman and Clark is something to watch.
Kal-El's mother is Susannah York, who was born in 1939. She was 39 when this film released in theaters. Marlon Brando was 54, being born in 1924. And you are correct, the lines did wrap around the theater for this film. I was 12, and remember the search lights outside the theater for weeks.
Re: Dolph Lundgren in Superman IV - while it looked a bit like him, it was actually an actor by the name of Mark Pillow, he only has 4 credits on IMDB. As to why they didn't head to Earth with their son, he knew that the council would be watching him & that he couldn't build a ship big enough for all three of them, so he chose to save his son.
Agreed - saw this as an eight year old and there is no other Superman. When he smiled at the camera in space at the end of the movie, I felt he was smiling directly at ME.
I saw this movie int he theater when I was 9 (in 1978). My father had died of a heart attack earlier that year, so when Clark's father dies in the movie, it hit me hard.
People tested how belieavable it was that nobody recognized Clark for Superman during filming. Some producers during filming wouldn't believe itwas thesame actor in both roles. Also, when Reeves went to the studio cafeteria dressed as Clark, nobody would glance his way. When he was dressed as Superman during lunch break, heads would turn. Worth mentioning, the scene of him circling the planet he was time travelling, NOT him moving the Earth backwards as most people assume. As he travelled into the past, the planet would look like it was spinning the wrong way.
Not just him there are stories of other actors and actresses who are able to turn the charisma on and go from just a person in the street to turning heads.
🔔 RAY @ 1:02:17 ??? Superman was NOT spinning the Earth backwards, he was traveling back in time, therefore everything was SEEN moving backwards. HUGE difference!
Exactly. He travelled back in time by accelerating to a relativistic speed while orbiting the earth, causing it to look like it was rotating backwards relative to his perspective frame of reference.
The crystal is green in color but is not kryptonite. It is the command crystal that communicated to him when he was ready to build the Fortress of Solitude and begin his training. After 13 years of training he is ready to wear the family crest and become the Beacon of light to guide humanity to tomorrow (The Man of Tomorrow).
55:59 Mark! In a television broadcast version on "ABC" maybe, they had extra scenes not shown in movie theaters. It looked like a model railroad set was flooded because model railroad stuff was used! 😮
1:09:26 Mark! The first two movies were made at either "the same time" or "back to back" depending on who you ask and his personal preferences for describing it. 🤔
59:39 Mark! He didn't "time travel" per se though. They cut out the scenes that explained what happened to the rumbling. But the novelization or movie tie-in kept the explanations. 🤓
59:12 Mark! His method avoids problems with the "TVA" if they existed here because he didn't create a new separate time branch! In Nicole Kidman's "Bewitched" movie she actually casts a magic spell that makes it look like a video cassette is rewinding! However, it seems like I'm one of the few people that noticed that the spellcaster version of herself stayed in place as she watched herself being "rewound"! It was like she was both the "launch pad" and the "rocket ship"! Visually it makes sense because she has to monitor it to know when to "Resume Play"! 🤫
On e more thing..... I saw Gerard roll his eyes at the beginning o f Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan.... but he opened his mind... and he got emotional when Spock died. The dude in the glasses was "too cool for school" and decided early on that this movie was beneath him. What a shame. This movie is FREAKING ICONIC! This movie made me believe that a man could fly! The dude in the glasses was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too busy being too cool for this movie. Keep Gerard.. he's a GOAT.... lose the judgmental dick in the glasses before you watch Superman II. Don't get me wrong... your reactions are the best... just not today! But I'll keep watching because of Gerard's honest reactions!
33:07 Mark! No flinching! Cat scratches weren't a concern if you stayed in character. Hey! Not ugly! George stood strong for the special effects bullets to bounce off of him because they weren't there! However, the prop guns tossed at him he ducked because they were real and their weight could hurt him! 😮 They found a workaround by this time! 😊
18:04 Mark! Grandpa resembled Glen Ford the most during this time. Dad resembled Elvis Presley the most when they were in the Army and Europe at the same time. He disappointed a lot of girls! 😁 They had to use Canada to pass for Kansas because Kansas had too many ugly power lines and telephone lines everywhere that spoiled the landscape! 😮
This was big, really big, when it came out. Watching it in a theater was impressive. The soundtrack became very popular and I knew people who bought the album. This was the first serious attempt at a superhero movie since the old days when indeed the Superman b&w TV series star George Reeves was in one. The 1960's era Batman movie was, as the TV series, primarily a comedy.
The first live-action superhero movie is the 1916 12-episode French movie serial "Judex." Judex is a masked and caped vigilante who seeks revenge on a corrupt banker and his criminal gang. He is a master of disguise and armed with gadgets. The first live-action superhero movie in English is the 1917 16-episode movie serial "Jimmie Dale Alias The Grey Seal." As the Grey Seal, Jimmie Dale wears a mask and carries a girdle full of lock picks and such, meaning no door or safe can defy him. Jimmie Dale/The Grey Seal is often credited with popularizing and evolving what would greatly influence later pulp and comic book heroes. The foppish playboy by-day-crimefighter-by-night routine had a precursor in "The Scarlet Pimpernel," but it was Jimmie Dale that brought the idea into a contemporary setting and added the idea of a costume and mask for his secret identity, serving as a possible influence for characters like Zorro, The Shadow, and Batman. He also established the concept of a hero's secret hideout or lair, The Sanctuary, a precursor of the Batcave or the Fortress of Solitude. These were serious movies. There followed many other live-action superhero films in the 1920s through the 1940s including The Mark of Zorro (1920), Don Q, Son of Zorro (1925), The Bold Caballero (1936), Flash Gordon (1936), Zorro Rides Again (1937), Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars (1938), The Spider's Web (1938), The Lone Ranger (1938), Zorro's Fighting Legion (1939), Buck Rogers (1939), Mandrake the Magician (1939), The Shadow (1940), Adventures of Captain Marvel (1941), The Green Hornet Strikes Again! (1941), The Batman (1943), The Phantom (1943), Captain America (1944), and Superman (1948). When I went to see the 1978 Superman movie with my father during the Christmas break from college in 1978, he said that he liked the 1948 Superman and other superhero movies of the 1940s better because he thought the 1978 movie was not serious enough, especially the portrayal of the silly villains and the ribald sexual innuendo from the female characters of Lois Lane and Eve Teschmacher.
@@RKnightsthis was like the next big blockbuster after Star Wars. In fact many of the same crew worked on the film and there are some actors as well. Yes this was a huge movie when it came out, a big hit.
40:42 Mark! She did die from a debilitating disease or illness that many assume was lung cancer, but if I recall correctly the name began with an "M"? 🤔 "MS"? 😮😢
1:03:30 Mark! When the boys in "Stand By Me" were discussing an encounter between Superman and Mighty Mouse, the "Superman" in mind was live-action George and "Mighty Mouse" was the animated cartoon. One boy said Superman would win because "he was real and not a cartoon"! There's a special episode of "I Love Lucy" that has been colorized as part of updating the series to digital standards. The debate it has is, is George playing himself in the show wearing his costume for the birthday party for the children or is it Superman? 🤔 The piano stunt has people believing the latter. The dialogue seems to be vague or neutral about it some say. 1966 "Batman" is what people were used to until 1978 when this movie revolutionized the Superhero movie concept! 🎉
I don't get why everybody's all over Michael's balls in this comment section. All three of em were talking s**t. Pfft...Michael, if you ever see this, you keep doing you, man. I love it when you're on the watch🤘
1:06:54 Mark! Hehe! What you're talking about now is something that I wished for in so many letters and e-mails and in on-line forums, that I'm happy! 😃
37:10 Mark! When the actor who played "Joker" for... Oh yeah! Heath Ledger is his name! But anyway, when he died, the monthly rent for his NYC apartment was over $4,000,000.00! 🙄 No wonder he needed big contracts! Actors and actresses get paid per episode on television. For movies, it is what their agents/managers can get in their contract! Because you know, they get paid 10% of whatever they earn for their clients. So the bigger payday for their clients, the bigger their payday is. They pay their entourages with their income. 😮
30:52 Mark! What happened to him almost happened to actress Kaley Cuoco! But she managed to survive her equestrian incident with metal replacing bone in the leg that was crushed. 😢😮
53:37 Mark! The missiles have always been a problem for me! They didn't know the big differences between ICBMs and cruise missiles! Flight tests don't use live warheads! Just dummies! Bomb tests are called that! In 1978 weren't nuclear tests no longer a thing? Though North Korea has done underground testing in this century. 😮
58:48 Mark! This scene causes arguments! Namely, between those who claim he is time traveling because they can't believe what they are seeing, and those who can see that he is manipulating Planet Earth itself! Thanks to Cher we can call it "turning back time" now. But back then they said "rewinding" or "reversing"! 🤔
49:20 Mark! That's an example of how women make better listeners than drivers. Regardless of being left-handed or right-handed women use both ears to listen with because they're the mothers who need to be alert to baby needs. Men though? Right-handed men listen with their right ears. Left-handed men with their left ears. So a right-handed man driving from the left seat has his listening ear aimed at whomever is to his right and is talking. Works swell in the USA. Not so much in the UK! There the lefties have the advantage! Remember too, that the left-brain controls the right side and the right-brain the left side. Being ambidextrous gives you the better driving option for hearing passengers! 😊 Ergo, Lois Lane keeps looking at the man because she is focused more on conversing than driving! Women have to train themselves to not turn their heads while driving and talking. TV shows and movies about police women don't often reflect that training if the director and/or writers place more emphasis on the talking. 🤔
The comic book explanation for why no one recognizes him with glasses on is because superman has superhypnosis. It gives him a aura of power that he can't turn off. The glasses are made from glass on his spaceship and when worn cancel out the power. So now people see him as a normal person. For the time travel, this is probably the most scientifically accurate fro time travel. It doesn't matter what direction he travels around the earth, he simply needs to break the speed of light. Now that he is going backwards in time, it just appears like things flow backwards (think of the movie tenet, which is terrible btw).
No-one recognised silent movie star Harold Lloyd without his glasses, which is what inspired them to use glasses to cover his identity in the first place - so its not entirely out of the realm of possibility, especially when Chris Reeve is playing two wildly different personalities so well.
There's no need for super hypnosis for any one besides Lois, Jimmy and Perry. Both Christopher Reeve and Henry Cavill went in public as Clark Kent without any one recognising them. Reeve was mobbed in the cafeteria at the studio when dressed as Superman, but went unnoticed when there as Clark. Cavill literally stood in Times Square in view of a Man of Steel poster.
1:14:22 Mark! 4,353 Views + Mine! 🎉 Thumb Up #286! 👍 You're welcome, and thanks! 😊 Notes: Ahem. 1978? At movie theaters, Superman was it! Everyone else was in television series, reruns included. I was thinking of making a list, but you should do your own research! 😉 Someone with access to "UA-cam" to made his own version of "The Justice League" with Superman being the only member from the movies! 😊
Supposedly in the comics (long time ago), the reason Clark's disguise works is that he inadvertently uses a low level hypnotic power that made people see him (Clark) differently
17:48 Mark! For awhile "LL" names were a thing with "Superman" comics, but I guess they ran out of ideas or got bored or creatively stifled. 🤔 Lana Lang, Lois Lane, Lucy Lane, Lori Lemaris (a mermaid), and Lex Luthor, to name a few. 😊
In 1978,the tagline for this movie was "you'll believe a man can fly"..and,watching this on the big screen, the audience most certainly did ... the first big budget superhero movie ...
All I saw of Superman before this movie was the old b&w tv show and the cartoons (Super Friends) and some of the comics. Seeing this on the big screen was just awesome as a kid. And the 2nd movie was even better!

35:02 Mark! Guys! The actress here appeared in "Playboy Magazine" thanks to a previous movie, "Slaughterhouse Five" in which her character, "Montana Wildhack" was a "Playboy Playmate"! So, in the issue, they reprinted the images used in the prop magazine as well as provided new images of Vallerie Perrine as herself! When this movie came out, she did a newer layout in color. Margot had a color cover for her issue, but a black and white layout, and she was so bushy! 😮 Like a hippie girl! 😮
1:02:47 Reversing the spin of the Earth wasn't what caused time to reverse. It was reversing time that made the Earth reverse. Even in the real world, there are a few physicists that believe that if you could break the light barrier that you could possibly go back in time.
Another thing to note: Superman has a "tactile telekinetic" field, which allows him to extend the energy that he uses to fly around any object (or person) he's holding, shifting its center of gravity. This allows him to pick up objects at odd angles without them shifting or losing structural integrity. Thus, Lois can be held up with just her fingertips. Superboy (a sort-of-but-not-really clone of Superman) takes this power even further, using it to simulate the effects of super strength and being bulletproof without actually being super strong or indestructible, and can warp objects on contact.
The Donner cut has a lot of scenes that were cut. The council found out he was using extra resources and deducted he was breaking their rules. He thought by sending on his son he could sneak him off the planet without the council knowing. There is a scene where security is heading to his lab when the sun explodes.
53:51 Mark! The video games of the time reflect this movie scene! The actor's struggles shouldn't be the character's struggles. But Superman isn't angry with grief yet. That big adrenaline rush makes such a big difference even for him!
38:09 Mark! If you read "Man of Steel, Woman of Paper" it explains how the force of his ejaculation would 🤯 her head! 😮 In the series on "The CW" in order to safely impregnate Lois, they had to live in a red sun environment so that it would be regular sex for both of them. 😊 Wait! That storyline began in "Supergirl"! By the time they got their own "HBO" series after "The Crisis on Infinite Earths" they went from having one son to having two sons! 😮
🔔 RK @ 30:47 The issue of Lois Lane not recognizing Superman is Clark Kent IMHO made for one of the greatest scenes in television history in an episode of 'Lois & Clark'!
The prequel TV series _Krypton_ was highly acclaimed. General Zod in this film was also Jor-El on _Smallville._ The little girl on the train was Lois Lane. Her mom was played by TV's Lois Lane from the '50s. The dad sitting across from her reading the paper was the movie Superman from the '40s. Even Arctic water today has microplastic floating in it.
34:03 Mark! By the way! Christopher was a real-life pilot, too! He took it upon himself to add flight realism to his flight scenes by using his hands as flight control surfaces. Kirk and George, before him, just punched the air to take off and held the same pose for flying. Except when George leaped out of windows. 😮
🔔 RK: Definitely see Superman II ! It had the at-the-time distinction of being heralded as one of the few big hit movies to have a sequel that was as good or better than the original, (the others being Star Wars and The Godfather). Don't waste your time on 3 & 4.
25:03 Mark! Rex Reed, notable movie critic, mostly famous for "coming out" as they say so soon compared to others. He wanted to talk about movies, but people pestered him about "why did he choose to be one"! 😮
21:48 Mark! The old joke is how crowded it must be with Superman, Doc Savage and Santa Claus having homes exactly on the North Pole! Superman was the first to relocate to the South Pole! 😁
Saw this when it premiered in the theater with my parents and brother. One of my favorites. Another one of my favorites you guys should check out is The Final Countdown (1980) The U.S.S. Nimitz goes back to December 6th, 1941. It's filmed on the Nimitz. It's like Top Gun meets Back to the Future.
19:04 Mark! That's the church's cemetery. That nearby white structure. In older villages and such, churches were in charge of their congregation's memorials and graves, rather than city owned cemeteries. 🧐
In the '70s most adults were smokers rather than healthy. The officer giving mouth-to-mouth was Larry Hagman from _I Dream of Jeannie & Dallas._ Mike pretty much ruined the entire video.
Somebody probably already said this, but the Nuclear Man in Superman 4 was played by Mark Pillow, not Dolph Lundgren. I used to have a friend that liked to nitpick movies, he said about this one "when he's running by the train, you can see his feet aren't touching the ground so it shows he was suspended from a crane on the back of a truck" My response: "So in the movie SUPERMAN, your biggest problem is that in one scene, the main character - an alien with super strength, super speed and CAN FLY - his feet are not touching the ground?"
🔔 RK @ 6:08 ➡ Those "reflective" outfits were a pathetic sight in real life. (For whatever reason) the movie posters during its run showed them in scenes from the film WITHOUT a special effect added! It looked EXACTLY like they were wearing aluminum foil that they had gotten out of a "Reynolds Wrap" package! 🤦
1:02:58 Mark! "Doctor Who" did an homage to a "Silver Age of Comics" Superman story in which the Daleks removed some planets and moons from their home planetary systems. The Doctor used his TARDIS to return them. He used a tractor beam, though. Superman constructed the biggest and longest chain ever made to pull the planets back in his story! 😮 In "DC's Guardians of the Galaxy" some celestial types decided to have fun with the fates of worlds by using them as magical bowling balls! Finger holes included! People on Earth with an awareness of Magic could look up and see the giant hands! But not the celestial bowling alley itself! 😮
There’s actually more depth to these moments if you consider the extended edition of Superman: The Movie. In the expanded cut, there’s a scene showing that Krypton allocated limited resources for survival projects. When Jor-El starts using more resources for his rocket plan, the authorities send the military to stop him. However, Krypton explodes before Jor-El can be arrested. Also, it’s important to note that his wife, Lara, could have fit in the rocket too, but she refused to leave Jor-El behind, showcasing the depth of their bond. As for the epic time-travel scene at the end of the movie, Superman doesn’t literally spin the Earth backward. What happens is even more incredible-he flies so close to or beyond the speed of light that he manipulates time itself. In physics, as you approach the speed of light, time slows down; and theoretically, if you had infinite energy (which Superman could channel), you might surpass the speed of light and experience time reversal from your perspective. It’s similar to how the Flash handles time travel in newer adaptations, but Superman is on a completely different level of power. After all, while Flash is the fastest man alive, Superman isn’t just a man-he’s something far greater.
🔔 RK @ 16:28 ➡ That "woman looking out the window" was none other than the nifty Noel Neill! "Noel Neill played the iconic role of Lois Lane in various Superman productions, including: Serials: Superman (1948) and Atom Man vs. Superman (1950) Television: Adventures of Superman (1952-1958), replacing Phyllis Coates in the second season Film: Superman (1978) as Lois Lane’s mother, Ellen Lane Other appearances: Superboy (1988), Superman Returns (2006) Neill’s portrayal of Lois Lane is often described as vivacious and more lighthearted compared to Phyllis Coates’ version. She was a beloved figure in 1950s television and remained closely associated with the role throughout her career. Biographical Notes Noel Neill was born on November 25, 1920, and passed away on July 3, 2016, at the age of 95. She began her career as a model and actress in the early 1940s, eventually transitioning to television and film. Neill’s life and career were chronicled in the authorized biography “Truth, Justice, & The American Way: The Life And Times Of Noel Neill, The Original Lois Lane” by Larry Ward."
The subtleties of the romance seemed to be lost on these reviewers. Lois sees Superman as a god and acts like a love sick school girl whereas Clark is friendzoned. I'm not sure at what point mockery of the characters took over and while there are plenty of plotholes etc. It just reinforces the idea that Gen Z can't watch or appreciate anything older than about 10 years
6:29 Mark! At "Six Flags Over Texas" they had glowing cords that were multipurpose! I went on two senior trips to the theme park as a high school senior. One trip was the regular one. And then with the same charter bus driver, the second trip was those on what they called "The Indian Blood Roll"! (Vampires, it isn't what it sounds like! 😅 ) With both trips, I got to see girls wearing those cords! There were too many girls wearing them because it made the boys think it was just just for girls, so they looked at me funny for trying to wear mine! 😢 But they were being worn as necklaces, shoe laces, hair control things, wristbands, head bands, ankle bracelets, belts, purse straps, and just wrapped around their bodies in general! I was very envious of how much spending power it meant they had! I was given only a token amount of cash. 😢 I was so hungry! 😮
There was a series called Krypton (2018-2019) where the main character was, I believe Superman's grandfather. The girl on the train who saw Superman running... in a cut scene it's shown to be a young Lois Lane. There was a couple of Spiderman films in the late 1970's as well as a series. Trailer is probably available online.
Fun fact: The old couple on the train with the little girl were played by the original Superman and Lois Lane from the 1940's movie serials.
The original Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane. George Reeves died way before this
@sciguyjeff Not George Reeves, Kirk Allen, he was in the movie serials, not the television series.
@@sciguyjeff He said the 'original Superman' - George Reeves was not the first.
Also the little girl is supposed to be young Lois Lane There is an extended scene where she talks to her parents and they mention her name.

After three and a half minutes I was done.
57:23 Mark! Man! Somebody behaving like that next to me when I'm watching a movie wouldn't last long! 😮🙄
Saw at the theater and Christopher was and always will be Superman, thanks guys
Agreed - saw this as an eight year old and there is no other Superman. When he smiled at the camera in space at the end of the movie, I felt he was smiling directly at ME.
You guys missed the part at the very end where Superman in space smiles at the audience.
We realized too late. Dang
I like the part where Superman rescues the cat and nonchalantly flies away while the girl is hard slapped by her mom for "lying".
HAHA - that ALWAYS cracked me up.
Mute the dude on the left
Lois screaming isn’t nearly as annoying as him
I saw this movie int he theater when I was 9 (in 1978). My father had died of a heart attack earlier that year, so when Clark's father dies in the movie, it hit me hard.
When you watch the second one please leave those two out of it
The one on the left at any rate.
@@Rocket_Man232 I agree
Totally agree he's just an asshat
Take the dude with glasses off your panel he adds nothing
Yep, that's Cliff from Cheers and JR from Dallas.
Perfect timing, especially with yesterday’s release of the trailer for the Christopher Reeve doc!
Funny how that happened :-)
@@RKnights Hoping to see a reaction to trailer and, in time, the documentary.
You're far from the only one who believes in "addition by subtraction" by cutting the guy in glasses loose from being in any more R Knights videos.
58:27 Mark! They don't call it that at funerals! It's just a farewell kiss. 🥹😢
33:07 Mark! No flinching! Cat scratches weren't a concern if you stayed in character. Hey! Not ugly!
George stood strong for the special effects bullets to bounce off of him because they weren't there! However, the prop guns tossed at him he ducked because they were real and their weight could hurt him! 😮
They found a workaround by this time! 😊
1:01:10 Mark! In the book "Last Son of Krypton" the movie events were one chapter. Well, the earthquake story that is. 😁
The woman who plays Ursa, only briefly seen in Superman I, was played by the same actress who played Deathwalker in Babylon 5.
18:04 Mark! Grandpa resembled Glen Ford the most during this time. Dad resembled Elvis Presley the most when they were in the Army and Europe at the same time. He disappointed a lot of girls! 😁
They had to use Canada to pass for Kansas because Kansas had too many ugly power lines and telephone lines everywhere that spoiled the landscape! 😮
Marlon Brando (Jor-El) was 54 when this was filmed. Definitely not in his 30's. 😂😂😂
I figured this had to be a big deal when it came out
The first live-action superhero movie is the 1916 12-episode French movie serial "Judex." Judex is a masked and caped vigilante who seeks revenge on a corrupt banker and his criminal gang.
photoshop didn't exist in 1978
Photo tricks did though.
Reeve will always be the Supes every live action actor has to live up too
agreed!
33:33 Mark Whoa! You didn't react in astonishment to the sound effect of the mother slapping the daughter hard for lying to her! 😮
Ergo, Lois Lane keeps looking at the man because she is focused more on conversing than driving!
42:08 Mark! A big radio hit by the way! 🎉
1:14:22 Mark! 4,353 Views + Mine! 🎉 Thumb Up #286! 👍 You're welcome, and thanks! 😊
Notes: Ahem. 1978? At movie theaters, Superman was it! Everyone else was in television series, reruns included.
I was thinking of making a list, but you should do your own research! 😉
Someone with access to "UA-cam" to made his own version of "The Justice League" with Superman being the only member from the movies! 😊
16:06 Mark! To see Lana Lang again, "Superman 3" is a must-see!
Life is too short to listen to your kids. Adios.
🤗
In 1978,the tagline for this movie was "you'll believe a man can fly"..and,watching this on the big screen, the audience most certainly did ... the first big budget superhero movie ...
All I saw of Superman before this movie was the old b&w tv show and the cartoons (Super Friends) and some of the comics. Seeing this on the big screen was just awesome as a kid. And the 2nd movie was even better!

Something to consider - despite his powers, he was completely powerless to prevent his adopted father's death. That triggered his need to leave, walkabout and 'find himself'.
I usually love the reactions on this channel but that arrogant Mike has taken me right out of this one, what an appalling manner he has, see ya later, hopefully minus Mike.
Agreed!
35:02 Mark!
51:28 Mark! Huh? You mean "wealthy people"! Regular people can't afford it! Hence the remarks about sparing no expense! 🙄
People grew up on this and it was amazing. You making fun of it is stupid at this year.
Photoshop? Those are more like paintings. They didn’t have a photo of him yet. It was 1978. No CGI or computers were used at all.
12:53 Mark! Ray! There is a series named "Krypton"! 😊
General Zod in this film was also Jor-El on _Smallville._
The little girl on the train was Lois Lane.
"Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It's ... some flying guy wearing red swimming trunks over blue Yoga pants?"
28:03 Mark! 😂 Whenever someone exclaims, "Jesus Christ!" I follow up with, "Superstar!" 😅

It is amazing how differently people aged back then. Men always looked at least 20 years older than what they were
19:04 Mark! That's the church's cemetery. That nearby white structure. In older villages and such, churches were in charge of their congregation's memorials and graves, rather than city owned cemeteries. 🧐
In the '70s most adults were smokers rather than healthy.
The officer giving mouth-to-mouth was Larry Hagman from _I Dream of Jeannie & Dallas._
Mike pretty much ruined the entire video.
Somebody probably already said this, but the Nuclear Man in Superman 4 was played by Mark Pillow, not Dolph Lundgren.
I used to have a friend that liked to nitpick movies, he said about this one "when he's running by the train, you can see his feet aren't touching the ground so it shows he was suspended from a crane on the back of a truck"
My response: "So in the movie SUPERMAN, your biggest problem is that in one scene, the main character - an alien with super strength, super speed and CAN FLY - his feet are not touching the ground?"
In "DC's Guardians of the Galaxy" some celestial types decided to have fun with the fates of worlds by using them as magical bowling balls!
"Noel Neill played the iconic role of Lois Lane in various Superman productions, including:
Serials: Superman (1948) and Atom Man vs. Superman (1950)
Television: Adventures of Superman (1952-1958), replacing Phyllis Coates in the second season
Film: Superman (1978) as Lois Lane’s mother, Ellen Lane
Other appearances: Superboy (1988), Superman Returns (2006)
Neill’s portrayal of Lois Lane is often described as vivacious and more lighthearted compared to Phyllis Coates’ version. She was a beloved figure in 1950s television and remained closely associated with the role throughout her career.
Biographical Notes
Noel Neill was born on November 25, 1920, and passed away on July 3, 2016, at the age of 95. She began her career as a model and actress in the early 1940s, eventually transitioning to television and film. Neill’s life and career were chronicled in the authorized biography “Truth, Justice, & The American Way: The Life And Times Of Noel Neill, The Original Lois Lane” by Larry Ward."
Black coffee no creamer or sugar is what the real men drink.
Dolph Lundgren was not in Superman 4
Mr Reeves’s son Will Reeves looks almost identical to his father its uncanny.
Christopher Reeve played the voice of the Metropolis control tower during the helicopter and Air Force One scenes.
