I love this performance (and the other songs from this concert! :D) Joni is so on-point! :D Her piano playing (also mostly self-taught) is amazing too, as well as her self-taught dulcimer playing! :D So fun to see a very young Robben Ford on electric guitar, here, fresh from his stint with Myles Davis! :D Robbben got this tour gig because the usual guitar player for Tom Scott and the LA Express (Larry Carlton I think?) had other commitments so couldn't tour at that time. Robben still speaks fondly of the musical experiences from that tour! :D And that being Joni's first time being able to record with and tour with a BAND, Joni was having so much fun "playing off" of a number of the musicians throughout that concert, trading licks, and the energy from musicians that could fully appreciate and play her music the way she wanted/needed! :D By the way, the 2022 "live" performance of "Help Me" was NOT performed by Joni, but was played/sang by the performer that goes by Celise (spelling?) during the surprise "Joni Jam" at the Newport Folk Festival. Joni's voice has changed over the decades, and is much lower, no longer has the 3-4 octave range she had during THIS performance, but she has learned to find new ways of expressing emotion with her "new" voice! :D Cheers and good luck fellas! :D
My all-time favorite singer-songwriter. This album -- Court and Spark -- is an amazing work of art.
Bitch is Back is a favourite of mine in 76
Will do!😊
