JonJorgenson I loved this!! I totally understand the struggle between God's will and your will, especially when its something that you don't want, but God wants that thing for us. Matthew 7:9-11 says, "Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" God knows what is good for us, and he sees the big picture. When we look at a situation, we only see what's put in front of us that we view as the best thing for us. But God sees blessings that we could miss out on by choosing that thing, and he tries to steer us toward the other. If you wouldn't have gone on that mission trip, you would have missed out on a blessing. But God answered your prayers, quite specifically. He tends to do that when we're being stubborn. Anyways, g[of video, Jon!

Hey Jon, Loved this story! God is so amazing! I can't really relate to you not wanting to go on the mission trip because I've wanted to be a missionary since I was about 10, but so SO awesome the way God provided for that trip! I have had similar experiences of God providing in my own missions journey. Thanks for sharing!

This is awesome! I believed basically the same thing about mission trips but I played it off like I was afraid of being away from home (I’m an extreme homebody, so people believed it). I live in northern Oklahoma, and when I was 15 my youth group was going to south Texas on a one week mission trip. My dad forced me to sign up & I never ever wanted to. I ended up cancelling with them one hour before we were meant to leave. Looking back, I don’t think my heart was ready. I truly believe I just would’ve complained to God and hardened my heart while we were there. The next year, when I was 16, my youth group was kind of running out of money so we planned a weekend long trip to Tulsa (only an hour away, so I couldn’t use my homesick excuse) to minister to kids in trailer parks. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I got to meet and talk to so many kids who had never heard the Gospel. I got to form little relationships with them in the time we were there. I am now a senior beginning to work toward our trip to Cincinnati this summer. *God is so good* ❤️❤️

Mission trips are a big scam. Many years ago I was overseas with an American mission group. The guy from the local church heading the construction asked me how much money those people spent on airline tickets. I said around $30,000. He said that with that money he could hire a few people from the church that were unemployed and have the job done three times faster and better and it would be enough money to start building another church. They said that they didn't need the mission group they just needed the money to hire unemployed local Christians. It is like that everywhere. Lots of poor foreign churches need help but all the US Christians do is to waste millions in airline tickets to go to countries were they are not needed. I know a pastor that is always bragging about all the mission trips he did. I asked why he did the trips. I asked if the locals could have done what he did. He said that yes but he enjoyed traveling. Mission trip became traveling and sightseeing. I met a pastor from Pakistan a while ago. He had many projects to do in his country but US churches wouldn't help him. There are good Christians in every country that can do the job. Just stop wasting money in airline tickets and send them the money. The cost of supporting an American missionary overseas sometimes is 3 times higher than supporting a local person.

"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."
      - Mark 16:15
      (That's Jesus saying that...)
There are many, many reasons Jesus would have told Christians to go, and not JUST tell them to send money to locals.
But if the fact that Jesus commanded that does not convince someone that mission trips are necessary, then Jesus' reasons for commanding to go would not convince some either.
      "Go ye..."

    • @airplane800
      @airplane800 Рік тому

@@BiblicalTruthForVietnamese So African Christinas, South American Christians, European Christians, Asian Christians, should come to the US to teach real Christianity. Church in the US is a big business and a big show. There are thousands of foreign students in US universities. No one cares. Americans like tourism, they could care less about preaching the Gospel. When Jesus told to go there was no local churches. You are twisting what Jesus said. Now the local churches can do the job, they don't need Christian tourists.

Agree, it is when you surrender, cast all your fears to Him and started to trust Him, then He will make things clear and do the work. I really love Him when He’s doing such things like these. He is the sweetest at all when He makes things to happen in His will

Wow! I went to Nicaragua with my church this past summer. And I prayed for a 13yr old boy who wanted to commit suicide, and was living on the streets. After he told me that it really touched him and that he was so thankful. Mission trips are truly open your eyes and give you a heart for God's people. ❤️

But kept saying oh I’ll get there later. But these past few weeks God has been stirring stuff up in me and after watching this video and hearing your story of God’s work in your life things feel more clear now and my heart feels open with a genuine wanting to grow closer to God. Thanks Jon keep up the good work!

Being a missionary is a great responsibility! A missionary must have great energy, fortitude, and courage. Wherever the missionary goes, no matter what part of the world he is in, he must spread the Word. Locals must understand what the missionary is telling them. The missionary must get the Word right! Therefore, every missionary must know the language of the local people! To everyone who is on a mission or preparing for one, I would like to recommend a very good workshop written by Yury Ivantsiv Polyglot Notes: Practical tips for learning foreign language. This wonderful book will give you answers how to properly learn a foreign language with a minimum of your time and effort. This book provides answers to many of the questions that everyone faces when learning a language. I wish you good luck in your important work!

I appreciate your video more then you could ever know. My husbands faith has been a little rocky. We closed our businesses (very large co. been in business since 1972) when my cancer is progressing and my heart not being able to take another round of chemo. We decided to go to a rural town where my daughter lived. Bottom line, the town has nothing for children and it is dismal. So after one of my daughters friends was killed drunk driving, we decided to not move to our retirement home in another state. Instead we took every dime we have, every possession we have and we are opening a community center with a after school program, summer day camp, teens in action program, senior support program and created several jobs. this town, the nearest doctor is now 2 hours away. We are beyond broke, we are using the inventory from my business (seperate from our main business) to sell for revenue. The stroy is amazing how God has put us here and it started 24 years ago. we now know. Ive been worried and been praying for answers, and your video popped up and i clicked it. Something i never do. Thank you for being God's voice to me. These children are at risk ......no are thrown into risk......and i know, because of you, not to give up. Thank you so much......

This really spoke to me. I have had the same thoughts of you about missions trips that you had in the past and I was invited to go on a missions trip with Intervarsity at my college. I just was not sure if I wanted to go or not and I just have felt I need to go serve God in a way that I never have before. I loved this video because I thought I was alone because so many of my friends go on missions trips once maybe even a couple times a year and to see that someone else had my mindset shows so much how God can move through that.

This helped me relate to you more and understand you more- sometimes it’s easy to think that people’s life and faith are without fault when we only see them on social media or on UA-cam , but this story from your life and faith that you shared helped us to see the reality. A customer of mine mentioned humanitarian efforts through his church. I love helping people and learning about myself through the process, although I am not a person of religion. I’m wondering if it can still be possible to be a part of something like this without a faith in God. I am keeping an open mind, and may be through the process I will develop a faith. Just wondering if anyone has an opinion on that.

There are many humanitarian trips but honestly it's better if you support the locals from your home. They don't need another white saviour. They need resources. They need people who can speak the native tongue and actually understand the culture. People who understand that Africa is a continent. Here's an interesting video from a non Christian guy who went on humanitarian trips and his experience. ua-cam.com/video/JIiaV-g-op0/v-deo.html

Thank you for sharing your testimony, Jon. As I’ve been reading my Bible, there has been the question of how is God doing such awesome things in the past, but what is He doing now in my scientific, logical, natural reality? Hearing about what God is doing now in the lives of His people that even defy our understanding is encouraging.

Ruthee Cee I would love to share a small bit of my testimony! God is still doing miracles daily! And I know this from personal experience! I was completely healed through God's power of Lume Disease. Medicine began to make me worse and it stopped working at a point. I could barely walk. I had to get to a point where I was ready and just done being tormented by the enemy. I finally made the decision to call someone who operated in healing. She never stated it was her work, but she was just opening her hands to God and being His hands and feet. From that moment when she laid hands on me, I was immediately healed. And this happens every single day. I live in TN and this lady has become my mentor and now she is teaching me how to reach the nations and how to go out and heal and deliver people and she's basically just teaching me how to truly open my hands towards God. I promise you that the Gods that is today is the same as yesterday. He still works in miracles. I've seen people delivered from unclean spirits, people completely healed from other sicknesses, people prophesying, speaking in tongues, and God doing radical things in many people lives. I believe God is never silent whether He talks directly to you, speaks through the Bible, and/or speaks through a person for you. I hope this encourages you:). Jesus loves you!

Ah, I don't like short term mission trips whatsoever. I've been on two and, while they were interesting experiences, I've read a lot on short term missions since. A lot of it has accidental corruption-- people going to build houses, which then takes away jobs locals could do, for example-- and I can't help coming to the conclusion that short term missions are selfish. They make people feel good about themselves and give people an interesting opportunity for themselves, but I don't think it's for others. You even touched on that, on how it's for people who are going. I, personally, don't think that's okay. I want to be used where it's good for the people I'm going to be serving. An exception to this is intensive preaching through a sister church.

Just got back from the dominican republic with my son serving the people there in Jesus name and it was as life changing for us as it was for them...would trade it for nothin. 🙂

This video was very timely as I’m a senior in college trying to prepare for the post-grad life!
I still (annoyingly) have no idea what I want to do lol, but I know God is leading me in a certain direction towards getting my Master’s💰😓💰...
My Pastor always says ‘If it’s His WILL, it’s His BILL’ haha. Anyways, I loved this video and I’m excited to see what’s next! Thanks Jon🤗
