Hopefully someone can read this and I can get some insight. I have been a Christian for 5 years now, but I have truly rededicated and took it seriously around 2 weeks ago. When I hear other testimonies, they mainly show that they have been able to hear God speak to them and guide their life. Am I doing something wrong? Why can't I hear Him yet?
Kerry Helton hey Kerry thats actually a really good question, but before answering, i just want to ask you, what's your thought on hearing from God? Like is it an audible voice you're expecting?
Kerry Helton They Holy Spirit will speak to you just continue to pray and read God’s word. He will strengthen you in the spirit and sharpen your discernment. He is intimate and will speak to you differently from how he speaks to others. It may or may not be an audible voice but he speaks and you will know and if you’re not sure you can Always ask to make sure it was him. “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27
Kerry Helton i guess i asked because i wanted to know what your definition of hearing from God was..God can speak to us in many different ways - the Bible, words from people, your gut feeling or that umph feeling you get sometimes, a situation, and even vision and/or audible voice. Sometimes its that peace you feel within you when you're praying. I think its important though to be close to God to be able todiscern His voice, so read the Bible (follow a devotional guide if you need to) and the more you learn about Him and know His way, the more you'll see things that are/are not aligned with what He said.
Kerry Helton... differentiating it from your thoughts will take some time to master and fully be aware. But wat you can do for yourself is read and read and read the word. Know God, know his word, his pattern, his track records, read stories in the bible, read about Jesus and truly digest it and don’t stop cause gradually you would start to hear him in your mind when you are faced with situations cause it would be somewhat clear as to what path you are to go. God speaks through his word to us too. I’m glad you’ve decided to be serious! God is awesome and I pray he would guide you. One day at a time and you would be fine.

In a way, yes. Not like Morgan Freeman or something, but just a voice that I hear in my mind. And I can differentiate it from my own thoughts.
