Instead the 70 bucks quoted for replacement i spliced in less than 2 feet of 18 gauge using about 5 inches of original cable at both ends. My replacement is much more flexible rubber covered instead of the inflexible plastic. At $1.01 a foot a pretty nice fix
Reminds me, back in the day (early 80’s) I used to fix my broken rev counter and or speedo cable at the shop I worked (Refrigeration Research, Brighton Michigan). Hi Nige, Just found your video… and a great review. I currently have the opportunity to purchase either a used GT or Interceptor 650 (consequently in the same colours as the two you rode). Both only have about 3500km’s on them and priced equally for around $6500. I’m torn because I really like the look of the GT but feel the Interceptors ergonomics will be easier to live with long term. Was the Int your preferred choice or was it just that it was the bike available? I’m 59 and somewhat well past the ‘boy racer’ stage of life. Admittedly haven’t test ridden either yet. I do prefer the look of black rims and hubs on the GT, I guess I could put an Int top steering yoke and bars on it with an INT tank of my choice on it (I assume both tanks fit the same frame without modification.) Anyhow any advice would be appreciated.
Hi Peter, thanks for the kind words about the vid. Having ridden both versions my choice was more about how the bike felt under me. Just my opinion but the slight geometry differences and weight distribution along with the higher bars just gave me more feedback from the front tyre. The GT isn't super radical in terms of rider position as the handlebar clamp puts the actual grips above the top yoke anyway and the pegs aren't really that much further back than on the Inty. So unless you're seven feet tall you shouldn't have much of an issue on either bike. My advice would be to try and get a test on each bike and see how you feel.
@@motoface5984 Hi Nige, I’m the meantime I have test ridden both and I’ve decided to go with the Interceptor. Having come from riding mostly large trail and adv bikes I much prefer the upright seating position and wider bars of the Interceptor. Loved the exhaust slip-ons so much I ordered a pair for mine! Aesthetically, they look better and more proportional than the S&S option in my opinion, but why did you choose them and having lived with them, what’s your opinion of them? Cheers!
I chose them because I wanted something shorter than the S+S but not stupid loud. They seemed a great combination of price and quality. Having got them... first they are super easy to fit and make a very nice bass tone without pissing the neighbours off. Quality seems good but use a lot of water when you wash them if they're really dirty as it's quite easy to put a lot of really fine scratches on the chrome. Not a big deal but worth noting. Obviously having extensively ridden both I'd say the Interceptor has just a hint more feedback from the front wheel and feels a tiny bit more planted when you're at high lean angles.. That's just my personal opinion but really there's not much to choose between them.
Triumphs are all made in Thailand, so not being made in Europe or Japan should be a non issue for riders looking for a modern classic. Now if Indian would only make a Scout standard and Cafe to get a USA bike in the mix for this segment..
Royal Enfields aren't pretending to be anything they aren't. Putting a Brit flag on the gas tank of a motorcycle made in Thailand seems a bit forward to me. Where things are made matters to me --- if you ever see a video of a Japanese factory and the attention to detail and lengths they go to, to make the product as perfect as they possibly can. The Royal Enfield factory looked like everybody was half asleep and slamming it together with a brass hammer, so to speak.

Think am going for an Interceptor decently powered classic, tank not huge but could take a 5 litre extra if needed.
I often wear my Furygan vented jacket which is about the best compromise between leather and comfort. amp.roadrider.com.au/testing-furygan-speedmesh-3d-jacket-td12-gloves/
@@motoface5984 I have 2 jackets one leather & the other a dry rider jacket, like a waxed cotton good for wet weather has a removable inner liner.
Anybody with 60k plus? My harley at 120k starts to become problematic. Its reliable before 90k but after that, its problems after problems.
Would you recommend the interceptor over the gt?
Obviously having extensively ridden both I'd say the Interceptor has just a hint more feedback from the front wheel and feels a tiny bit more planted when you're at high lean angles.. That's just my personal opinion but really there's not much to choose between them.
My daughter has the GT. I'd get an Interceptor and for a Bikini fairing.
Damn spell crap.
FIT.
@@dirkdiggler5164 One of the stupidest things I've ever read in motorcycle world.
@@rejuvenatingsoul3498 I think Gene Goodwin's comment refusing to purchase one because he can see the frame tube that's left uncovered by the seat is worthy of mention here...
How tall are you? What would you say to a rider who stands 1.8796 meters, or 6’2” imperial?
Hey Jeff, my mate is 6'2" and he has no issues at all.
Defo fastest colour. I know, after 15,500 miles.
Why can’t you ride if Covid is in the house? Do you think that you just spew it as you go down the road?
Just sticking to the rules mate....but yes very unlikely I'll be infecting anyone whilst riding past at 80kph....and when I say 80 I mean 120.
What seat is that?
It’s the Touring seat....so called
@@nigelcrowley8529 Just bought a GT duc Deluxe.. it has the long 2 up seat. I'm going to grab the shorty seat with the cowl. Thanks.
It looks much better if you paint the mudguard to match!
Mud guards are the first things to dissappear.. ;)
You should move to a more honest neighbourhood..;-)
Whate seat is that and approx price?
It's the Touring seat and I'm not sure of the price but maybe around $140
Do you hear any clatter while riding slow/clam
No but could be slack chain noise or maybe tappets if they're way out.
There's a lot of mechanicals going on in the overhead valve department. And yes, some of that contributes to the overall noise produced.
sevice at 6000 km not 10000 km
6000miles 10000km

Care to expand on that?
The seat is ugly
