      I do too, haha...as for that Eyelids album, that sounded pretty cool!! Are you familiar with Biff Bang Pow!! ?? I took a chance & bought blind the Cherry Red 6CD box cuz it was cheap & got me curious cuz it's the Creation heads Alan McGee, Andrew Innes and others in their own band & they are/were quite good, a postpunk/powerpop/proto Britpop sound totally in your wheelhouse, plus the record by McGee's pre-BBP band The Laughing Apple is included, very cool too, more new wavey...highly recommended Hannah...hope all is well...

    Hi Hanna 👋 .. Think YT fixed my bug. Lust For Life is the opening theme to my favorite sports radio 📻 show The Jim Rome show which is very popular in Omaha .. Lots of disgruntled Cornhuskers fans call in. Seeing The Cure on Tuesday & love the new Depeche Mode. ✌️

      Hi David! Glad the problem with your YT has been fixed! Can't say I'm a football fan and therefore, I don't follow the Huskers, but I do hear about them plenty during game season. 😂 Very cool Jim Rome's show has Lust for Life as the opener, though! Super jealous of everyone who is able to see the Cure on this tour. Enjoy it!

    Love that Tinderbox album on the wall. That album along with the Slowdive- Souvlaki I would get both the vinyl and cd versions because the bonus material on the cds are just as good or better then what is on the vinyl. I have an original US pressing of Disintergration and the problem is they crammed 60 minutes on one record. Don't know about the repress but it needs to be on 2 albums. I do like the broken glass look of the cover. I probably need to look into the later Depeche Mode albums. Have everything up to Ultra but lost track after that.

    • @TheOmahaIntrovert
      @TheOmahaIntrovert  Рік тому +1

      Hey Matt! I've never had the pleasure of ever running into a CD copy of Tinderbox. I'll try to look for one with the bonus tracks for sure...or I'll just try to grab EPs from that era! And my 2010 Disintegration reissue is on 2 discs and sounds much better. Yeah, the original on 1 disc is just...disappointing.
      Oh, you're in for a treat if you haven't heard any Depeche Mode post-Ultra! I saw them on the Playing the Angel tour and it really left an impact on me! Enjoy the rest of the week!

    Hey another awesome vid. I enjoy watching you be so knowledgeable, ecstatic and an fond admirer of the music I loved, own and lived thru from that era. I've been collecting for over 5 decades now so ya I got a few genres all happily mashed together. Ive been a Cure fan boy for yrs now, it was all we listened to , them the Smiths, Jam, Talking Head, Depeche Mode ....ya so great. I met and partied with the Cure all night till sun up back in 88. My good friend is British and went to highschool with Smith and one other member, after their concert here in Vancouver my buddy Paul had set up going back stage with Robert to hug and have beers. We drank everything, smoke bud and countless packs of smokes and ended at my photo studio shit faced and taking photos and smoking and drinking. Just a cool off chance meet and piss up with some trippy eclectic and excentric celebs from Ol England. Well thats one of many tales from yrs past but just keep finding those grails and smiling 😊.

    I'm behind in my vinyl channel watching but indulging a bit today on a rainy morning with a second coffee. I have a bit of everything in my collection, from folk to jazz to to hard rock to post-xxxx whatever...so I definitely like when you sprinkle in a couple of jazz pick-ups = doesn't scare me away. I have a DL xof that Jaime Branch I keep planning to make time to listen to, but lately there is always newer material or a live show I'm prepping for (case in point, bring my little sister to John Butler tonight). I keep meaning to pick up that Cake album (nostalgia!) but newer releases have been winning out budget-wise. I DID pick up Fashion Nugget when it came out and it sounds great, so I will buy with confidence. I actually caught Cake live for that Prolonging the Magic tour in 1998 about a month after it was released with my friend Bob at the Le Spectrum, Montreal. Unfortunately, neither my friend nor the venue exist anymore 😥but I remember we both agreed that John McCrea was the perfect anti-front man. Excellent band live. Lastly, I too have that 2010 Disintegration (my fave of theirs...big surprise) reissue and find it quite good. Cheers!

    Hey Hannah…some fabulous acquisitions in that lot. I was literally listening to More Songs About Buildings and Food before watching this vid and there it is ( cue in the mysterious music). Love those first two TH albums. Depeche Mode are such a special band, the fact that they just keep producing great albums and continue to sound relevant after all these years. Seventeen Seconds is my go to Cure album. I think it was their launch pad into their darker gothic material while still holding on to some of the gorgeous post punk of Boys Don’t Cry. Keep doing the post punk vids for as long as you like and I’ll keep watching. Thanks for sharing.

I've been an OI fan since she revealed Pete Townshend is her favorite composer. WHO fan 'til the end. but in all seriousness, the more I check out your videos, OI, the more I learn about popular music. collecting ended for me when I discovered UA-cam, and started running it thru an ancient used boom box. the neighbors may not be wild about it, but that's where I'm at these days. you have a museum ,compared to anything I ever had, even before I went broke. but seriously, enjoy your new room. some work went into it, that's clear.

    Hi Hanna, you did show some truly great albums in this video and you always provide just the right amount of detail so that viewers of your vids get a good sense of what these albums sound like, particularly with some of the more obscure stuff. Robert Pollard is so prolific it is easy for anyone to get totally overwhelmed and what is amazing is that the quality of the music has remained consistently high including on the most recent GBV album 'La La Land'. You may already be aware but a recent GBV release titled 'Scalping the Guru' collects together a bunch of singles and EPs the band released in 1993-94 when they were immersed in experimental lo-fi pop. You would like this one. Great to see Destroy All Monsters and it was heartening that Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton was able to bring his devotion to garage punk rawness to another group. In the space of a year My Bloody Valentine progressed from the dream pop of the 'Ecstasy' mini album to the massive guitar noise overload of 'You made me realise'. How amazing is that?

    Congratulations on a great haul! And especially cool to see some Destroy All Monsters in there! And interesting that you picked up on the Sonic Youth vibe, as there are in fact several connections to that band! DAM was initially an artist collective before they became a proto-punk band [I had the honour of exhibiting together with Cary Loren once, but that's a different story], and Mike Kelley from DAM did SY's "Dirty" cover, and in addition to that, DAM released some of their music on Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace label. If you ever come across the DAM dvd, "Grow Live Monsters", I recommend it wholeheartedly. There are also a number of great art books available (I have at least 5), so inspiring! MBV and GBV for The Omaha Intro-V! Another great hauly-haul, y’all. I’ve never heard an OG copy of Disintegration, which I only had on CD for 15 years before I got the 2LP re-ish, and I’m not a fan of when a single LP is reissued as a 2LP; I feel like that belittles the concept of proper “double albums,” plus they cost more and consume more shelf space. I’m no audiophile so the trade off isn’t there for me I guess is what it amounts to. Can’t ever go wrong with GBV, and I had no idea early MBV was so gosh darn jangly, gee willikers!

      Well, hi-diddly-ho, Tom-a-rino! In the case of Disintegration, the 2-LP remaster is SO much better than the 1-LP original. This original sounds pretty lifeless. So, it's really weird to have a flipped opinion this time as normally original albums sound better. This is just the opposite. All opinion, though! Knew you'd appreciate these GBV/related titles! I'm probably not alone in having a tentative attitude to Jazz. Good example is Eric Dolphy's 1964 album Out To Lunch. Can't say I actually enjoy listening to it. Just find it intriguingly weird. When you compare what was regarded as ground-breaking and challenging in Pop/Rock 'n' Roll in the 50s/60s, it's like Jazz was operating in a parallel universe.

Subhumans annoyed me with all their political banter between songs. I was like "just play your songs and shut up, jeez! We get it you're miserable HA HA". Been a Bowie/Iggy fan my whole life, The Idiot album gained legions of fans following the revelation that Ian Curtis chose it as his final songs before he left this world. Your charisma and passion is delightful, hi again from NZ, Australasia.

    cool stuff hanna. i'm surprised that iggy pop record was tough for you to find or were you looking for a certain pressing? i bought that on vinyl a few years ago. it's a reissue. but i didn't think that album was a hard to find title. i like how you take the time to adjust the records in background as a little hint as to what's to come.... and what's Beetlejuice doing there? I thought he was busy finally making Beetlejuice 2?!?!

      Thank you, Steve! Beetlejuice is always here in my background! 😆 Oh, Lust for Life is not one that is easy to find here. I did see it at a record show last year, but it was like $60 or so. Couldn't pass up this German original for the price! Honestly I don't even see reissues of it around here. Hope all is well on your travels! ❤

    Hi Hannah, that original UK Cure Disintegration vinyl is notorious for having a crackly and quiet sound so you have to turn the volume right up. Don't bother trying to find a better one - stick with the reissue you have. I got 3 copies of it before I went for a reissue a few years back which sounds much better. Their best record possibly? I never bothered with MBV's Ecstasy and Wine as it seemed a bit dreamy compared to Loveless and You Made Me Realise.
    Cheers, Paul

      Hey there, Paul! How's it going? Yes, honestly, I will probably end up trading in this original copy of Disintegration. My 2-LP reissue is so much better. I'm pretty partial to some of the Cure's earlier records but Disintegration certainly is near the top for me, too! Hope all is well!

      A random watch. So many vinyl channels here. Space Gun is a classic. 2018. There’s been eleven more GBV albums since that one ! Number twelve comes out in July I think. I saw the Rockathon sale online but I had it all already. Plus shipping to Europe doesn’t make it worth it really. You literally have to get as many Pollard albums on vinyl as you can as they sell out and are heavily priced thereafter on Discogs.

I'm referring to all the bands and interesting projects that came out of that estimable outfit (e.g., Rowland S Howard's work with Crime and the City Solution, his solo work, These Immortal Souls, one-off projects like Honeymoon in Red, etc etc). Would be fascinating to look at all that good stuff. Mark

    I totally understand you're happy with Ecstasy and Wine its very rare. And so too expensive for my taste altough I like the music very much. Robert Pollard is a strange artist. I researched him a bit and discovered that if you include the 27 (or so) GBV albums (and all albums with other band names like Boston Spaceships and Airport 5) this guy has nearly 100 albums out!! I have 12 so a long way to go. He is known for releasing albums with musical ideas that hasn"t blossomed to full songs. I think you have to be selective here and pick the best. That could be the subject for a seperate video (hint, hint). You're musical taste and mine are strongly correlated so I again derived some tips from you're video. For instance I didn't know Destroy all Monsters but have already listened to them en like them. I'm generally a fan of low-fi punk with female vocals. Recently played "Make More Noise" a 4 cd comp with female punk.

      @TheOmahaIntrovert  Рік тому

      Yes, typically Ecstasy and Wine is very expensive. I'm glad I snagged a copy for the price I paid. It's really too hard for me to keep up with Robert Pollard and the massive catalog! Agreed that I won't be picking up every one. I usually read reviews before choosing. I'm with you on loving lo-fi female-fronted punk! I have a pretty obscure one to feature in a future upcoming vinyl finds video. I need to check out that Make More Noise comp. I'm intrigued! Thanks for the comment!

The sixth album after Space Gun……….it’s Purple vinyl [ the only one of the 15 albums that’s actually colour )
