I love your vids cause your builds are how I got gud, but I still wanted to know if you would do an update for 1.09 on this, cause even in 1.09 the build is still crazy but I know with having a second guardian spirit you could make it even better
the rat as second guardian (or bat, or centipede depending on situation), fam dam+skill damage+cta+final blow+pierce guard on shiranui. Ki reduction too. If no sanada, follow amaterasu setup as that's superior to full fanatic in general. bonus from amrita absorption on (attack) or movement speed on helm/chest. That's probably what i would change. Nothing really new added to make any major difference, off the top of my head. hope that helps!
I was proud of my build; cheesy ninjutsu "catch me if you can jerks". I played a fair bit of this game; I even platinumed it. I would hit an enemy for maybe 500-700 or something, or slowly poison them to death. Seeing you hit guys for 25000 is an hilarious comparison. I hope you get even more views my friend.
PWARGaming so is this the highest damage build? What about 5 piece susanoo and amaterasu for the spirit damage bonus. Or kigetsu susanoo, and one piece fanatic?

They can one shot because most of them are already at the top fucking level and overpowered. Shit is weak to be honest. I made videos farming using a sword because I got tired of watching people just use the kusarigama spam attack. lol
A great way to farm Soulstones to help power LW, is to run "The Unrepentant Thief" Mission Level 240 in the Sekigahara region. Make sure to use up any Amrita before you begin your farm. Pop Protection Talisman and Tiger-Running Scroll to run past any enemies and equip the Himorogi Fragment to speed up your farming. When you proceed down the path from the start of the mission you will come to a fork. Take the left path and hug the left wall around into a watery cavern. You will need to run past 3 human enemies. Skip the first corpse with the item and run all the way to the back of the watery cavern to the last corpse. The corpse will have 2 Soulstones on it (20,000 Amrita stones). Loot the corpse and then use the Himorogi Fragment to exit out of the mission (you may need to defeat one or two of the pursuing enemies first). Rinse and repeat. TIP: Suppa and Catwalking scrolls can be used to avoid the enemies. You can easily get 99 Soulstones in a matter of 20-30 minutes. EDIT: You can get a Summoner's Candle in the same run. Run back out of the watery cavern and take the right upward path. This will take you to the archer surrounded by explosive barrels. Run past the archer and hug the right wall. Past the wheelmonk and Biwa Boku-boku, there is a nook on the right wall with a corpse that has the candle. If you encounter the second wheelmonk, you know you have ran past the corpse. You can also focus farm the candles by simply taking the right path at the beginning of the mission.
I hope all the broken things stay in the game because I like feeling overpowered at times. However, it is a choice to use certain things, and builds, so if you think something is making the game too easy, then don't use it. Currently, I'm using a lvl135 Final Blow build, and farming to get my gear decked out, but I'm not planning on leveling any more. However, I like to see these kinds of builds, to know what's possible. Anyway, thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching! And yes, struggling is good, a challenge is good, but turning into a demi-god is too haha Rarely do games put in you the seat of power, and that's why I'm having fun. You also don't need to destroy your build or stop leveling when books exist, and can put you at any level for challenge runs/videos/whatever. I'm not into that but it's always an option. I personally like to show and play builds with DEEPS
I'm hoping that PvP are weapon skill selection > Dojo fights. That way it takes the gear out of the equation and makes it a purely skill based challenge.If that ends up being the case then there'd be no real reason to nerf any of the OP stuff like discord or ILW as it wouldn't affect PvP in any way.

Just so you know stats on your ranged weapons. You will only gain the stats from what you have in the slot. If you have 2 weapons on say a bow and a rifle you will only get the stats for the bow if that is your active range weapon or vice Versa. Also if you gain amrita while in high stance using the peacock spirit you gain about 40% more damage than Kato but since you stay in living weapon you can't abuse it much.
Yeah whatever is in the slot are the stats you gain. I tested this using agility damage on 1 gun and nothing on the other. Having the agility bonus in slot gives you damage but swapping it takes it away.
The best way to farm Saisetsu-shin Sake for amrita farming is to run "The Three Angry Gods" Mission Level 165 in the Chugoku region. Run up the mountain path, go inside the building, and the small chest inside (left side) will always have 1 Saisetsu-shin Sake. Suppa and Catwalking scrolls help with this process immensely as you can run by all the enemies, even the fogged yokai. Use a Himorogi Fragment to exit (make sure to use up your Amrita before the farm!) and repeat the process to your heart's content. You can also run the "The Master of the Twin Blades" Mission Level 117 in the Omi region, except you will need to get Dual Swords to 500,000 proficiency and beat "The Grimmest Blades" dojo mission to unlock it. Beating the mission earns you the smithing text to forge Saisetsu-shin Sake at the blacksmith and will earn you 2 Saisetsu-shin Sake every time you beat it afterward.
The best way to farm glory for Demon's Horns and Divine Fragments so you can start the arduous task of forging 160 gear? "The Bridge of Bone" Mission Level 160 in the Chugoku region. The bridge is littered with revenants, and while they are low level and will only drop standard divine gear (+0), it is perfect for glory farming and dismantling for fragments. Clear out the first three waves of enemies, but do not pass the final section of the bridge. You can then clear out all the revenants before the last section, go back to the shrine, wait 10-30 seconds, and the revenant graves should respawn. Easy peasy. Just watch out for the damn holes in the bridge, heh.
for those who do not run Kusarigamas for blade spin will find it pretty much impossible to pull of a strong skill that deal good damage with living weapon on, since it locks you into mid stance, as of such you would probably just be better off using Hi-Nezumi for it's 25% Critical attack enhancement if you use other weapons in that case. On another note, have you ever found Attack Damage Reduction (Critical) to be inheritable? because if it is you could make yourself almost immortal once you hit critical health by just stacking that on every armor piece, sure damage would suffer ,but you would not take damage
I've tested the nezumi, suzaku actually still out damages it. You're paying attention only to bonus effects and not the living weapon stats. mouse has bad tenacity and super low attack enhancement. Those play a part in damage. So I only recommend Kato or Suzaku for lw crit builds.

Patch 1.06 just hit and with it comes some major changes to this build. Firstly, "The amount the [Living Weapon] gauge recovers now gradually reduces according to how much of the gauge has been depleted." What I have discovered is that now LW's recovery decreases the more you take damage, so let's say the LW bar depletes on it's own and is down to 25%, if you earn Amrita, the gauge can still be topped off easily. However, if you took damage during that time, the recovery will be much lower and you will eventually run out of LW. I'm not 100% sure if the recovery also lowers over time regardless of damage, but it might. Secondly, Blade Spin's KI cost is increased. I haven't noticed it being that big of an increase and doesn't seem to affect LW all that much. Third, all buffs and debuffs are wiped once Quick-Change scroll brings you back to life. That means you can't pre-buff before bosses if you plan on using QC -> LW. Fourth, Extraction Talisman apparently got buffed while in LW. I personally haven't used it much, but I heard with 1.03, Extraction Talisman didn't work at all in LW. So now it can be used in LW apparently, but I don't see where it will make that much of a difference since if you take damage, running out of LW is going to be inevitable, regardless if you gain more Amrita or not. Fifth, the biggest nerfs - special effects on critical have been reduced and Carnage Taliman's damage has been reduced. I noticed that rather than 2 shotting most bosses with Blade Spin, it might take 3-4 Blade Spins to down a boss. On the subject of special effects on critical, certain stats, like Received Damage From Attack (Critical) have been reduced. For example, if you watch Project's video, you'll see he has that effect on his chest for ~19%, but now it will nerfed down to about ~15%. That isn't a HUGE nerf, but it is worth noting. The biggest nerfs come to set bonuses. The Red of Devotion 5 piece bonus has gone down from 30% to 23%. Once again, not HUGE, but it is a fair nerf. This will also nerf Legendary Mikawa Warrior 1 piece Close Combat Attack (Critical) as well. So all in all, you are probably looking at doing about 20% less damage or so, maybe more. Bottom-line, Infinite LW is no longer a thing. You can't face-tank bosses regardless if Extraction Talisman was buffed or not. However, this LW Critical Build (Susanoo) is still very powerful but will have to spend a bit more time out of LW.
Living Weapon builds are definitely still possible, I didn't say they weren't. This Critical LW build is still very powerful, but my point was that Infinite LW builds that are made to face-tank everything are pretty much dead. I'd say that the Susanoo is probably still the strongest build in the game, but the Axe (Spin-To-Win) and Dual Katana (Blender) builds I've seen people run with may now give it a run for its money. I prefer the faster paced Kusa as Blade Spin is still amazing despite the Ki cost increase.

My favorite way to farm exotic (purple) gear for forging materials is "Greater Demon Hunting" Mission Level 175 in the Kinki region. It is very easy to down Onryoki, he rarely drops divine gear, but he does drop a bunch of yellow and purple gear as well as Demon's Horns, which helps with forging those Lv. 160 pieces. Another way (may be more efficient) is to simply farm revenants in the "The Bridge of Bone" Mission Level 38 (Chugoku region) as per my suggestion in my previous comment. They will consistently drop exotic purple armor at this lower level rather than divine gear, which helps with amassing lacquer and other standard forging materials. NOTE: To craft 160 gear, simply beat a Level 320 mission or higher, then forge any weapon or armor that requires Demon's Horns (can forge any gear, but it is rumored that Demon's Horns gear or any gear that requires a special purple item has a better chance at being forged to 160). Use at least 1 Divine Fragment per forge (also rumored to improve chances). Then Soul Forge 160 gear to 150 gear. Best weapons to craft are the Hakujin Kusarigama or any of the Nioh's weapons, but Raikiri (Sword) is also good if you have a surplus of tamahagane and are hurting for lacquer. Best armor to craft is Unusual armor. It will take hundreds of tries to forge a 160, so have patience. TIP: Collect enough mats to forge roughly 100 weapons. If you don't get a 160, savescum. If you don't know how to savescum, check out this Reddit thread - www.reddit.com/r/Nioh/comments/5vj17v/save_scum_detailed_guide/ Just make sure to save your data to the Cloud or USB before you start forging and to savescum after every 160 peice you Soul Match. I found lacquer to be the rarest of the standard crafting materials. Besides "The Bridge of Bone", a good way to farm is to run the "Marobashi" Mission Level 330 (Patch 1.06) in the Tokai region, but you need to get your spear proficiency up to 500,000 and complete the "Steel Across Steel" dojo mission first to unlock it. You will have to beat 6 dojo masters back-to-back, and will probably have to use a few soulstones to manage LW, but you will earn 6 highest quality lacquer for completing the mission. Not only this, but the masters drop smithing texts, good loot, and a fair bit of amrita in the process. TIP: The masters drop from the same place at the far end of the dojo. It takes a few seconds for the next one to spawn, so try to position yourself behind them before they drop so you can land a blade spin or two before they can block. NOTE: Unfortunately, you can't use Tori gate with this mission.
I know you don't think Blade Spin will get nerfed ("I doubt they will"), but the first thing I thought of when I unlocked it and tried it out, was "this is going to get nerfed". lol. Even without LW, with Carnage Talismans alone, it goes insane damage, with surprisingly low ki use and the ability to chain it back to back with a very minimal pause. Combine that with AOE (and by consequence, hitting any enemies behind you) and it just feels overpowered for a flurry weapon like the Kura. Granted, the High-Stance Strong Attack does almost as much damage after a full combo (and more interrupt potential), but it doesn't dish it out as fast as Blade Spin.
The easiest way to farm Himorogi Branches is to run "The Three Angry Gods" Mission Level 165 in the Chugoku region. Go to the left at the beginning of the mission into the cave system, then take the first right and there will be a coffin with the branch in it. Use a Himorogi Fragment (use up that amrita before you farm!) and then rinse and repeat. TIP: Suppa and Catwalking scrolls do help avoid a few of the Sentries. You can just let the clay pot fire trap hit you and a few Oni-bi will spawn after you loot the coffin.
Honestly, I'd suggest Tiger-Running scrolls for any build. Not just for the quick runs either, but for bosses! Especially in the mid-game; you can easily run around the boss to get back strikes or run away from sweeping strikes/AOE attacks.

Ran this with my gimp +8 150 kusarigama, which only has 1772 attk but I didn't stack fire dmg other than what's on the weapon. Still one hits just about everything. Only thing I took in prestige was to do with human / yokai dmg, living weapon, ki and elixer when no other option. I don't bother with steel, but do use carnage and defense debuff. I find pills useless as they're not needed for any trash groups. They die in one roll anyway lol. I however want your revenant for the goodies haha. Great build / video.
Yeah man you're right , hopefully this last DLC will be the "great redemption", esp if they took your concerns under consideration. You are dead on. I trying to get a ethereal shiranui though.
If one is smart enough to figure these things out, that is also where the fun and challenge in this game is as well. It takes these guys research and charting and logging and hours to get these builds out. I know I don't have that time. These things shouldn't be nerfed. If one person's reflexes aren't as good then maybe they're smart enough to build their character in a way that helps their journey. It's like Captain America using his character versus how Iron Man creates his character.
I prefer using red demon armor over fenatics because it's light, i just find heavy armor usless in this game though you do get decent poise. But for a fast weapon i'd like to have the lowest equip buden as possible, and suzako is op, it acts as a 4th quick change and it's gaurdian eats enemy ki away so fast, also knocks allot odf bosses down upon activating. But nice vid i think you helped me complete my kusarigama build
People don't have to use exactly what I use. I just want to make people aware of other options beside the standard that's been used for a while now (suzaku/full fanatics). Than they can test for themselves whether they prefer x over y, or vice versa. Glad I helped in someway~
U can get the Sanada outfit with the deluxe edition also u get the nioh gear and weapons. I believe the period was extended for sanada gear till march. so check ur boons to see if u have it.
i got the sanada set level 6(pre-order the game b4 next 2 weeks from the day 1) should do i craft sanada set lvl 150 divine using divine fragments on blacksmith? ican't chect it, bcos im not at house. can u confirm it m8?

Pretty much all of them. If you're lower level, cornered boar and kusa passives are a must first. Anything that benefits during low life you should get.
The one new sub-mission (introduced Patch 1.06) I am struggling on right now in with this build is The Return of the Gourd. Not only do you have to face waves of Yokai, but you also have to face a bunch of tough revenants 2 at a time as well as both Oda Nobunaga and Obsidian Samurai at the same time at the end. I'm sure this will be a tough mission for all builds. I beat it by running from the bosses and using Spirit Stones to get LW back up again to finish them off and even then, it was down to the wire, since Oda Nobunaga in this mission takes an insane amount of damage. I had to Blade Spin him like 10+ times and ended up with sliver of LW left.
idunno, I killed them in 3-4 spins, maybe a 5th because of bad positing. I think when you get used to the spawns (position) the battle will become easier, as both take a good 2-3 seconds buffing as soon as they enter (you stand behind them before they spawn, then immediately whale on them when they come in with carnage up). Save protection talisman for the last section of the battle.
Yeah, I could tell he was buffed. Oda had a big golden glow to him and was taking my hits as if I wasn't even in LW at all. Will take some getting used to. I'm also just barely over 1700 damage, so not quite as high level or geared (I have all the pieces in place, but my Kusa is still +9 and I am currently at 99 Dex and 65 Skill).
I'm not using any broken builds, just a regular stuff with Kingo and NG+ at lvl 170 already became too easy. Living Weapon builds or critical builds seem like a huge overkill tbh.
I think the Sanada set comes with 1 of the dlc's I saw someone wearing it in the final cutsene. it is worn by Sanada Masayuki mayby well get it as part of a boss drop or dlc bonus.
Kodama Bowl is 7.5%, and when you consider people farming get up to 100mil a run, 7.5% is actually a lot on the long run lol For normal play tho, sure, either Ogress Mask for damage or Onmyo Cast Speed piece for utility are the best options. About "this build can work with any weapon" nah, it needs a good skill to spam with low downsides, only dual swords and kusarigama has that =X, the rest has lot more drawbacks to the skills. Any other weapon will be quite bad for it.
The video was to show the maximum damage, obviously for farming, you'd want all the amrita stuff as possible. But no, the build CAN work with any weapon. Not to this degree, but I made that clear. Spear and katana can work (tested), and I'm assuming, like you said, dual swords could work. I played katana before I switched to kusa, cleared fast enough. The only outlier is axe, which, eh, ok you got me. Sorry axe bro's xD For spear you switch to full fanatic, for sword, you stay this set, and use the living weapon sword skill (SKILL) to kill bosses. Everything clears slower however to kusa's.
Rather than ask what are the best Prestige bonuses to go for, what are the three from Agyo and Ungyo to avoid? I'm guessing Luck, Life and Vs. Yokai Realm from Agyo, and Item Drop Rate, Ki, and Elixir Effect on Life Recovery from Ungyo.
Probably too late, but could we get a closer look at the lower lvl (111) version of this build? The previous video didn't show us the gear used! Is it roughly the same? 259 is soo high..
Same armor. For more consolidation, I made a new char for the axe build I'll upload pretty soon, and ran through the game with susanoo from act 4 ng to...well omi region ng+, no upgrades past base divine (even then didn't have all sanada pcs divine nor yasakani for extra 30% from fanatic.). Can't get it really working until you get blade spin but when you do yah, don't need to be high lvl at all. Piece the build together, and try and see :p
Could you do the build without sanada, as a lot of people don't have it, including how to raise critical close combat because it's confusing at mine is 42%.
yah full fanatics in place of sanada is fine. ctac from fanatic/sanada set should be around 50-60%. ex. sanada is 58% with 2pc fanatic. full fanatic is 45%. Then with ctac on WPN (max 24.9%), that raises it passed 90% with spear passives at top of tree. Then you can go further with special effects critical on accessories.
PWARGaming - my stats at 43% then in critical state it goes to 63%. I'm using: Full fanatics set. +13 critical effect boost charm + critical close combat 24.9% (max familiarity) Do I need to use spirit guardian that boost critical effect?
hmm weird. I mean just look at the set itself, 2pc fan is 30%, you say you have 24% on wpn, than you would clearly be over 43% with that alone not including the special effects boost from 6 pc fanatic. Spirit guardian has nothing to do with it as kato is not critical, nor is suzaku.
PWARGaming - I only have 1 piece of charm, and weapon giving 43%. The set increases it with passives from other weapons. There are spirit guardian that boosts Critical damage effects, 1 for 20% and another which I can't remember.
QUESTION: Your Sayoarashi (main weapon) has "Change to attack (Dexterity) A+" and then 4 lines below it "Change to attack (Dexterity) B+" Which one is it? Is the bottom section different from the top?
Let's just hope they keep the PVE stat balances separated from that of PvP. Otherwise the pvp is gonna be a huge clusterfuck, which can be fun until the gimicks are unraveled and a meta is set. Hopefully the PvP delay pays off.
Back in the days where we had unlimited LW and the op blade spin. These are great old memories, but TN just has to do their job. But @PWARGaming have also countered their multiple nerfs, so why would 1.20 put a pulse on these kinda vids. My game was automatically updated to 1.20 when i was at floor 450, but i still reached to 999 one shotting every single bosses mostly without weakness talismen. Swapping out kagetsu like you said and using the GS that boots strong attack damage as the 2nd GS, rolling Damage increase to enemies with agility B. The nerf is not as bad as you all think, speaking from my own experience. I reached 999 without soul matching my weapon to the max, it's really the skills that makes the difference. Was only soul matching each hundred floors, but the damage is still enough to one shot all yokais and most human enemies. Was really hoping to see more nioh videos when i updated my game to 1.20 by accident when i was climbing up the abyss, just because your builds always out damage other builds and feels like the official build guide. I know the game has come to the end, but am really hoping you to finish the last bit of it. You are the reason why people kept playing this game for so long and I feel like you are a part of Nioh. Make an abyss guide for climbing or an alternative build for 1.20 to put people back online! Anyone can make a playthrough, but not everyone can make these kinda builds like you did.
I still don't understand how you can face 2 bosses at same time I tried an I'm level 149 an kept dodging but end up getting hit from other guy its ridiculous
I am assuming you are talking about human bosses. If it is a mission with both bosses already spawned, start with a cannon shot to the weak point of one of the bosses. This will knock that boss down so you can concentrate on the other one. It will be tough either way since you probably won't have time to down the first boss before the other one gets up, but it does give you a head start. For dual human bosses that spawn after a few waves, try to position yourself behind where they spawn. You can easily take one of the bosses down to half before they finish buffing up and start attacking.

Question will this be good for even on Way of the Nioh and two what level where you on? (Way of the Strong, Way of the Demon, Way of the Wise, or Way of the Nioh)
Would a Fire affixed Kusa like the Shiranui be better than the Sayorashi? The only trade-offs are that Sayorashi has higher base Break stat and a Wind affix and Shiranui has a higher base Attack Multiplier and a Fire affix. I am thinking the Fire and Attack Multiplier from Shiranui would be preferred in this build... Also on the subject on Lv 160 weapons; I am assuming you need to forge like crazy to get a Lv 160 Kusa, then Soulforge it to your Lv 150 Kusa. Am I incorrect in this assumption?
shiranui is best. 160 you have to beat 320 mission queens eyes, then you can forge it, but essentially yes, spam forge until you get it, then soul match your 150 to the 160.
I lucked out and snagged me a Shiranui yesterday. Already feeling godly and I'm not even 99 Dex yet (I am Lvl 141). The Change to Attack (Dexterity) A+ inhertiable affix is probably going to be the hardest part of maximizing this build I'm guessing.
@PWARgaming, i feel like this build is kinda flawed? Correct me if im wrong, but isnt the Shiranui the highest attack modifier Kusarigama in the game, and it also come with fire affix meaning it benefits from %fire damage outside of living weapon as well. also the ogress mask is horrible for this build at level 750, if you keep your sanada head piece you can get agility A giving you bonus agility damage in and out of living weapon, ogress mask will drop you to B even with max str and stamina. fire % damage only affects the red ticks of fire damage which are negligible compared to the 15-25k blade spin hits. i was a bit disapointed when i learned that a fire affix doesnt make my damage turn to fire...but then again that would really suck against yokai strong to fire if it did.
Alternatively you can get monk hood and get 200 toughness. I can't show every option of course, but both of those options didn't make much difference for me, I still melted everything as shown. But yah, I replied to people asking to go for shira. Not for the fire damage, but for the extra multiplier (620 vs 617 sayo). Though like in the video, I say it hardly matters, all that's on the edge of extreme perfectionism.
oh i figured, i used your build at level 200 or so, did everything you said it would do.....shredded everything, got to 750 and wanted to try to find something that was more well rounded and performed in and out of living weapon without critical health requirement....come to find out if id have just tried i would have realized this thing shreds just fine without being in critical health lol
Yah, you could go hybrid crit+normal (like I did for my sword build) and do totally fine in any scenario. Hell the build carried my new character from ng region 4 to ng+ omi region without upgrading past 150. Literally as soon as you get blade spin, and have full sanada (since no yasakani), you blitz through the entire game. It's a rediculous skill/build xD

Great work on this build! I have a few questions. First, I noticed in your new video for the Nippon Steel build, that you are using Tengen Kujaku and mention that it is stronger than Kato. Does that also hold true for the Susanoo build as well (LW critical)? Both have an A+ Recovery, so the ability to keep LW up would be about the same, however "the bird" has the better Might stat which would appear to allow it to take more hits. How would you change Susanoo to accept Tengen Kujaku? Obviously "the bird" uses Wind instead of Fire, but would you also try to include the Extraction talisman as well (maybe instead of the Protection talisman)? Lastly, for the pre-NG+ players, early to mid-game, what are some of the suggestions you give to those trying to level as Susanoo? I find it difficult to keep LW up (I am lvl 63, region 3, pre-Blade Spin) so I am assuming it is mostly only viable once you get Blade Spin and are able to keep the LW up through passives. I noticed a comment somewhere below that you suggested 36 Spirit, 30 Magic, 99 Dex and THEN whatever stats are needed for gear, but then, would that make it harder to get the passives you need to sustain LW (less Skill stat = less Samurai points)? the key difference for a dedicated lw build and why it's not recommended is tengen needs to be in high stance to gain damage buff. In lw, you're locked into mid-stance, so while you'll gain the defense buff, you can't gain the damage buff. That's why. And the susanoo early thing, i'm not 100% sure. That was just a guess and how I would see it's not impossible. dex is mainly for damage, but you can easily split that into 50/50 to be able to get more skill points, sure. 36 spirit and 30 magic is crucial however. As is cornered boar, the living wpn duration passives from omnyo, the duale sword ccd against full life enemies passives, and then of course, blade spin. I would use sword or something instead of kusa until blade spin, since kusa normal attacks are a bit slow. then whenver you get blade spin, just find a random high damage kusa and start the madness :p And thanks, glad to have you on board ^^
Thanks for the quick reply! So far, I am able to keep LW up for a decent clip without Cornered Boar, Omnyo LW passives, 30 magic, 36 spirit. Two Small Spirit stones get my LW meter full, so for bosses, I can still do enough damage to make it viable. Granted, I can't run from pack to pack for an entire mission, so I will be working on those milestones you mentioned. Anyways, you rock! Keep on keeping on! PS: Makes sense about the Guardian Spirits. Kato it is then!
I know this would seem like a lot of work, but I feel this build deserves a well typed guide. Would be helpful to detail all the stats required on each piece of gear, where to farm the gear, where to farm soul stones, alternative gear and how the numbers crunch out, etc.
PWARgaming what armor and weapons do you suggest for exotic rarity because I'm trying to do this build before NG+ . and will Kato level 1 be okay for this build? Sorry if I got anything thought wrong, I'm still new to the game.
Full sanada or full fanatics is recommended. Lv1 kato should work, just upgrade armor every 10-20 levels and upgrade your kusa every 5 levels. By upgrade I mean, kill revenants for better kusa. and forge a new sanada set every 10-20 lvls or if you feel squishy. Carnage, quick change, and protection talis are a must. Maybe sloth if bosses become annoying.
PWARGaming I still don't understand the level system in this game. how do I forge a Sanada set? and how do I level up armor and weapons without soul matching? or is that the only way?
You forge a new set, that's how you upgrade. Forging a new pair is better than soul matching, cost less. stats are irrelevant in ng, just want to make sure you have the set bonuses. You keep doing that, because forging scales with the areas you defeated, up to 160. Or maybe they scale with your lvl, can't remember. If you have sanada to begin with (boons should give smithing text), then you can forge it whenever, how many times you want. leveling weapons shouldn't be your concern in ng, just find new ones that are stronger. soul matching is REALLY terrible for ng, same for reforging, they only become worth it in ng+.
Su.Za.Ku. if you're gonna make a LS build with critical, use Suzaku. Tenacity stat is off the charts. even the difference between a level 30 Suzaku and Level 30 Kato is extremely dramatic

I use power pill on 1st group in beginning of lv, then 1 carnage for the other two groups that pop up, then 1 each for each of the four bosses. I don't do oda, I'll post an exp run tomorrow.

i have gotten one, but wasn't susano. just random, haven't played in a good minute. looks like they didn't fix anything, so you pretty much have to get the dlc3 for any chance of changes, unless they release a patch that fixes things day-of dlc3 release.
How is this even remotely fun? I understand you did it just to prove that it's possible, but I wouldn't find playing a build like this enjoyable at all. I have a pretty solid DPS Katana Low-Stance build that tears through everything, but he's a glass cannon and I can still get easily murdered in Way Of The Strong. This is kind of overkill to me. Great video though. I'm pretty sure a lot of people are interested in this type of gameplay.
Think of it as more of a diablo 3 approach. Not about challenge or complexity, it's about efficiency and mowing everything in sight. That's basically what this build is. also lw builds are the absolute kings at farming amrita so many people use this build or other crit lw builds with suzaku to farm bankkkkk amrita to get to super high levels. I never personally go passed 300, but there's some people who do. But I don't get people like you who ask this (there's quite a few on this vid). It's a playstyle. If you don't like it, fine, but don't question whether someone is having fun with it if you've never tied it yourself nor are you that person to say what they should like or not. It's just puzzling to me. Glad you're a little more reasonable than most but yah, the question is puzzling to me. God mode and cheats exist in video games and have been for people to have a some fun or not care about dying, think of this as that :p
Right. I think you misunderstood me. I don't find it fun myself. Doesn't mean others can't enjoy it. You do what you like. I like having insight on all builds which is why I said it was a great video. I just wouldn't see myself enjoying the build on this type of game. I like having the challenge of still being susceptible to death at all times, it just gives me better immersion and an overall more fun experience. This has been the case for nearly every RPG or Action-RPG I've played for the past decade. I just like challenging myself and overcoming battles with skill, not saying this build doesn't require skill of course. I developed this mentality In Diablo 2 and made it my priority ever since I beat Dark Souls 1. I respect your play style, I just felt like saying it wasn't for me but was still good. I actually have made plenty overkill builds in RPGs before, I just seem to get bored of the game faster like that.

can't get text for sayo kusa. Nor shiranui (best kusa's). And yah, it's luck, but wpns can only roll 5 stats BESIDE their stats that come with certain weapons. Sayo kusa, at max, can roll 6. The trick to getting 7 is getting 6 stats WITHOUT inheritable stat symbol, then you can transfer an inheritable stat onto the weapon to make it 7 stats.
hey just wanted to ask why exactly are you wearing a ogress mask lets say over any other helmet like a fanatic or sanada helmet? whats so special about it? Also I see a lot of people using the Kodama bowl indeed. Im trying this build on my level 115 player. Do you think i should use a kodama bowl or ogress mask? thank you!
kodama bowl is only good for amrita farming, not progressing. It gives you a measly 7% amrita at maximum kodamas found for a region. Ogress just gives 20% fire damage, so its more damage. A better helm would be monk hood which has special 40% toughness boost, enabling you to be at/over 200 toughness. I found I don't need it since everything melted before they could touch me so opted for the extra damage of ogress, but its hard to get.

the rat as second guardian (or bat, or centipede depending on situation), fam dam+skill damage+cta+final blow+pierce guard on shiranui. Ki reduction too. If no sanada, follow amaterasu setup as that's superior to full fanatic in general. bonus from amrita absorption on (attack) or movement speed on helm/chest. That's probably what i would change. Nothing really new added to make any major difference, off the top of my head. hope that helps!
I was proud of my build; cheesy ninjutsu "catch me if you can jerks". I played a fair bit of this game; I even platinumed it. I would hit an enemy for maybe 500-700 or something, or slowly poison them to death. Seeing you hit guys for 25000 is an hilarious comparison.

A great way to farm Soulstones to help power LW, is to run "The Unrepentant Thief" Mission Level 240 in the Sekigahara region. Make sure to use up any Amrita before you begin your farm. Pop Protection Talisman and Tiger-Running Scroll to run past any enemies and equip the Himorogi Fragment to speed up your farming. When you proceed down the path from the start of the mission you will come to a fork. Take the left path and hug the left wall around into a watery cavern. You will need to run past 3 human enemies. Skip the first corpse with the item and run all the way to the back of the watery cavern to the last corpse. The corpse will have 2 Soulstones on it (20,000 Amrita stones). Loot the corpse and then use the Himorogi Fragment to exit out of the mission (you may need to defeat one or two of the pursuing enemies first). Rinse and repeat. TIP: Suppa and Catwalking scrolls can be used to avoid the enemies.
You can easily get 99 Soulstones in a matter of 20-30 minutes.
EDIT: You can get a Summoner's Candle in the same run. Run back out of the watery cavern and take the right upward path. This will take you to the archer surrounded by explosive barrels. Run past the archer and hug the right wall. Past the wheelmonk and Biwa Boku-boku, there is a nook on the right wall with a corpse that has the candle. If you encounter the second wheelmonk, you know you have ran past the corpse. You can also focus farm the candles by simply taking the right path at the beginning of the mission.

I hope all the broken things stay in the game because I like feeling overpowered at times. However, it is a choice to use certain things, and builds, so if you think something is making the game too easy, then don't use it. Currently, I'm using a lvl135 Final Blow build, and farming to get my gear decked out, but I'm not planning on leveling any more. However, I like to see these kinds of builds, to know what's possible. Anyway, thanks for the video.

I'm hoping that PvP are weapon skill selection > Dojo fights. That way it takes the gear out of the equation and makes it a purely skill based challenge.If that ends up being the case then there'd be no real reason to nerf any of the OP stuff like discord or ILW as it wouldn't affect PvP in any way.

So I have the option of fanatic or sanada crimson. what're your thoughts at this point having tested both.
Just so you know stats on your ranged weapons. You will only gain the stats from what you have in the slot. If you have 2 weapons on say a bow and a rifle you will only get the stats for the bow if that is your active range weapon or vice Versa.
Also if you gain amrita while in high stance using the peacock spirit you gain about 40% more damage than Kato but since you stay in living weapon you can't abuse it much.
You mean you only gets stats for the main weapon (blue border) for ranged weapons? So only one canon is giving me fire damage in other words?
Yeah whatever is in the slot are the stats you gain. I tested this using agility damage on 1 gun and nothing on the other. Having the agility bonus in slot gives you damage but swapping it takes it away.

Best possible utilisation of critical effects.
The best way to farm Saisetsu-shin Sake for amrita farming is to run "The Three Angry Gods" Mission Level 165 in the Chugoku region. Run up the mountain path, go inside the building, and the small chest inside (left side) will always have 1 Saisetsu-shin Sake. Suppa and Catwalking scrolls help with this process immensely as you can run by all the enemies, even the fogged yokai. Use a Himorogi Fragment to exit (make sure to use up your Amrita before the farm!) and repeat the process to your heart's content.
You can also run the "The Master of the Twin Blades" Mission Level 117 in the Omi region, except you will need to get Dual Swords to 500,000 proficiency and beat "The Grimmest Blades" dojo mission to unlock it. Beating the mission earns you the smithing text to forge Saisetsu-shin Sake at the blacksmith and will earn you 2 Saisetsu-shin Sake every time you beat it afterward.
Can we start basing the strength of a build on how effective it can be early on. I'm tired of seeing practically the same builds
The best way to farm glory for Demon's Horns and Divine Fragments so you can start the arduous task of forging 160 gear? "The Bridge of Bone" Mission Level 160 in the Chugoku region. The bridge is littered with revenants, and while they are low level and will only drop standard divine gear (+0), it is perfect for glory farming and dismantling for fragments. Clear out the first three waves of enemies, but do not pass the final section of the bridge. You can then clear out all the revenants before the last section, go back to the shrine, wait 10-30 seconds, and the revenant graves should respawn. Easy peasy. Just watch out for the damn holes in the bridge, heh.

for those who do not run Kusarigamas for blade spin will find it pretty much impossible to pull of a strong skill that deal good damage with living weapon on, since it locks you into mid stance, as of such you would probably just be better off using Hi-Nezumi for it's 25% Critical attack enhancement if you use other weapons in that case.
On another note, have you ever found Attack Damage Reduction (Critical) to be inheritable? because if it is you could make yourself almost immortal once you hit critical health by just stacking that on every armor piece, sure damage would suffer ,but you would not take damage
I've tested the nezumi, suzaku actually still out damages it. You're paying attention only to bonus effects and not the living weapon stats. mouse has bad tenacity and super low attack enhancement. Those play a part in damage. So I only recommend Kato or Suzaku for lw crit builds.
I'm missing some key pieces to this, namely the Yasakani Magatama, but I'm already feeling the power of this build. Nice.

My build is very different but new info is much appreciated.
Patch 1.06 just hit and with it comes some major changes to this build. Firstly, "The amount the [Living Weapon] gauge recovers now gradually reduces according to how much of the gauge has been depleted." What I have discovered is that now LW's recovery decreases the more you take damage, so let's say the LW bar depletes on it's own and is down to 25%, if you earn Amrita, the gauge can still be topped off easily. However, if you took damage during that time, the recovery will be much lower and you will eventually run out of LW. I'm not 100% sure if the recovery also lowers over time regardless of damage, but it might.
Secondly, Blade Spin's KI cost is increased. I haven't noticed it being that big of an increase and doesn't seem to affect LW all that much.
Third, all buffs and debuffs are wiped once Quick-Change scroll brings you back to life. That means you can't pre-buff before bosses if you plan on using QC -> LW.
Fourth, Extraction Talisman apparently got buffed while in LW. I personally haven't used it much, but I heard with 1.03, Extraction Talisman didn't work at all in LW. So now it can be used in LW apparently, but I don't see where it will make that much of a difference since if you take damage, running out of LW is going to be inevitable, regardless if you gain more Amrita or not.
Fifth, the biggest nerfs - special effects on critical have been reduced and Carnage Taliman's damage has been reduced. I noticed that rather than 2 shotting most bosses with Blade Spin, it might take 3-4 Blade Spins to down a boss. On the subject of special effects on critical, certain stats, like Received Damage From Attack (Critical) have been reduced. For example, if you watch Project's video, you'll see he has that effect on his chest for ~19%, but now it will nerfed down to about ~15%. That isn't a HUGE nerf, but it is worth noting. The biggest nerfs come to set bonuses. The Red of Devotion 5 piece bonus has gone down from 30% to 23%. Once again, not HUGE, but it is a fair nerf. This will also nerf Legendary Mikawa Warrior 1 piece Close Combat Attack (Critical) as well. So all in all, you are probably looking at doing about 20% less damage or so, maybe more.
Bottom-line, Infinite LW is no longer a thing. You can't face-tank bosses regardless if Extraction Talisman was buffed or not. However, this LW Critical Build (Susanoo) is still very powerful but will have to spend a bit more time out of LW.
Living Weapon builds are definitely still possible, I didn't say they weren't. This Critical LW build is still very powerful, but my point was that Infinite LW builds that are made to face-tank everything are pretty much dead. I'd say that the Susanoo is probably still the strongest build in the game, but the Axe (Spin-To-Win) and Dual Katana (Blender) builds I've seen people run with may now give it a run for its money. I prefer the faster paced Kusa as Blade Spin is still amazing despite the Ki cost increase.

My favorite way to farm exotic (purple) gear for forging materials is "Greater Demon Hunting" Mission Level 175 in the Kinki region. It is very easy to down Onryoki, he rarely drops divine gear, but he does drop a bunch of yellow and purple gear as well as Demon's Horns, which helps with forging those Lv. 160 pieces. Another way (may be more efficient) is to simply farm revenants in the "The Bridge of Bone" Mission Level 38 (Chugoku region) as per my suggestion in my previous comment. They will consistently drop exotic purple armor at this lower level rather than divine gear, which helps with amassing lacquer and other standard forging materials.
NOTE: To craft 160 gear, simply beat a Level 320 mission or higher, then forge any weapon or armor that requires Demon's Horns (can forge any gear, but it is rumored that Demon's Horns gear or any gear that requires a special purple item has a better chance at being forged to 160). Use at least 1 Divine Fragment per forge (also rumored to improve chances). Then Soul Forge 160 gear to 150 gear. Best weapons to craft are the Hakujin Kusarigama or any of the Nioh's weapons, but Raikiri (Sword) is also good if you have a surplus of tamahagane and are hurting for lacquer. Best armor to craft is Unusual armor. It will take hundreds of tries to forge a 160, so have patience. TIP: Collect enough mats to forge roughly 100 weapons. If you don't get a 160, savescum. Just make sure to save your data to the Cloud or USB before you start forging and to savescum after every 160 peice you Soul Match.
I found lacquer to be the rarest of the standard crafting materials. Besides "The Bridge of Bone", a good way to farm is to run the "Marobashi" Mission Level 330 (Patch 1.06) in the Tokai region, but you need to get your spear proficiency up to 500,000 and complete the "Steel Across Steel" dojo mission first to unlock it. You will have to beat 6 dojo masters back-to-back, and will probably have to use a few soulstones to manage LW, but you will earn 6 highest quality lacquer for completing the mission. Not only this, but the masters drop smithing texts, good loot, and a fair bit of amrita in the process. TIP: The masters drop from the same place at the far end of the dojo. It takes a few seconds for the next one to spawn, so try to position yourself behind them before they drop so you can land a blade spin or two before they can block. NOTE: Unfortunately, you can't use Tori gate with this mission.

I know you don't think Blade Spin will get nerfed ("I doubt they will"), but the first thing I thought of when I unlocked it and tried it out, was "this is going to get nerfed". lol. Even without LW, with Carnage Talismans alone, it goes insane damage, with surprisingly low ki use and the ability to chain it back to back with a very minimal pause. Combine that with AOE (and by consequence, hitting any enemies behind you) and it just feels overpowered for a flurry weapon like the Kura. Granted, the High-Stance Strong Attack does almost as much damage after a full combo (and more interrupt potential), but it doesn't dish it out as fast as Blade Spin.
The easiest way to farm Himorogi Branches is to run "The Three Angry Gods" Mission Level 165 in the Chugoku region. Go to the left at the beginning of the mission into the cave system, then take the first right and there will be a coffin with the branch in it. Use a Himorogi Fragment (use up that amrita before you farm!) and then rinse and repeat. TIP: Suppa and Catwalking scrolls do help avoid a few of the Sentries. You can just let the clay pot fire trap hit you and a few Oni-bi will spawn after you loot the coffin.
Or you know just do the three souls mission and there is a branch right next to where you spawn and you can get a sake each run as well....

Honestly, I'd suggest Tiger-Running scrolls for any build. Not just for the quick runs either, but for bosses! Especially in the mid-game; you can easily run around the boss to get back strikes or run away from sweeping strikes/AOE attacks.
yah any build I make is always 14 dex, 3 tigers and 3 quick change. Just like how Carnage is a staple, I believe those ninjutsu are as well.

Huggy Bear you can use this build with any other weapons
I know. I'm just not a big fan of do this one thing or set up if you want huge damage.
Ran this with my gimp +8 150 kusarigama, which only has 1772 attk but I didn't stack fire dmg other than what's on the weapon. Still one hits just about everything. Only thing I took in prestige was to do with human / yokai dmg, living weapon, ki and elixer when no other option. I don't bother with steel, but do use carnage and defense debuff. I find pills useless as they're not needed for any trash groups. They die in one roll anyway lol. I however want your revenant for the goodies haha. Great build / video.
Yeah man you're right , hopefully this last DLC will be the "great redemption", esp if they took your concerns under consideration. You are dead on. I trying to get a ethereal shiranui though.
Despite the nerf, it's still a powerful build.

If one is smart enough to figure these things out, that is also where the fun and challenge in this game is as well. It takes these guys research and charting and logging and hours to get these builds out. I know I don't have that time. These things shouldn't be nerfed. If one person's reflexes aren't as good then maybe they're smart enough to build their character in a way that helps their journey. It's like Captain America using his character versus how Iron Man creates his character.
I prefer using red demon armor over fenatics because it's light, i just find heavy armor usless in this game though you do get decent poise. But for a fast weapon i'd like to have the lowest equip buden as possible, and suzako is op, it acts as a 4th quick change and it's gaurdian eats enemy ki away so fast, also knocks allot odf bosses down upon activating. But nice vid i think you helped me complete my kusarigama build
People don't have to use exactly what I use. I just want to make people aware of other options beside the standard that's been used for a while now (suzaku/full fanatics). Than they can test for themselves whether they prefer x over y, or vice versa. Glad I helped in someway~

U can get the Sanada outfit with the deluxe edition also u get the nioh gear and weapons. I believe the period was extended for sanada gear till march. so check ur boons to see if u have it.

Pretty much all of them. If you're lower level, cornered boar and kusa passives are a must first. Anything that benefits during low life you should get.

The one new sub-mission (introduced Patch 1.06) I am struggling on right now in with this build is The Return of the Gourd. Not only do you have to face waves of Yokai, but you also have to face a bunch of tough revenants 2 at a time as well as both Oda Nobunaga and Obsidian Samurai at the same time at the end. I'm sure this will be a tough mission for all builds. I beat it by running from the bosses and using Spirit Stones to get LW back up again to finish them off and even then, it was down to the wire, since Oda Nobunaga in this mission takes an insane amount of damage. I had to Blade Spin him like 10+ times and ended up with sliver of LW left.
idunno, I killed them in 3-4 spins, maybe a 5th because of bad positing. I think when you get used to the spawns (position) the battle will become easier, as both take a good 2-3 seconds buffing as soon as they enter (you stand behind them before they spawn, then immediately whale on them when they come in with carnage up). Save protection talisman for the last section of the battle.
Yeah, I could tell he was buffed. Oda had a big golden glow to him and was taking my hits as if I wasn't even in LW at all. Will take some getting used to. I'm also just barely over 1700 damage, so not quite as high level or geared (I have all the pieces in place, but my Kusa is still +9 and I am currently at 99 Dex and 65 Skill).
I'm not using any broken builds, just a regular stuff with Kingo and NG+ at lvl 170 already became too easy. Living Weapon builds or critical builds seem like a huge overkill tbh.
I think the Sanada set comes with 1 of the dlc's I saw someone wearing it in the final cutsene.
it is worn by Sanada Masayuki mayby well get it as part of a boss drop or dlc bonus.

Kodama Bowl is 7.5%, and when you consider people farming get up to 100mil a run, 7.5% is actually a lot on the long run lol
For normal play tho, sure, either Ogress Mask for damage or Onmyo Cast Speed piece for utility are the best options.
About "this build can work with any weapon" nah, it needs a good skill to spam with low downsides, only dual swords and kusarigama has that =X, the rest has lot more drawbacks to the skills. Any other weapon will be quite bad for it.
The video was to show the maximum damage, obviously for farming, you'd want all the amrita stuff as possible.
But no, the build CAN work with any weapon. Not to this degree, but I made that clear. Spear and katana can work (tested), and I'm assuming, like you said, dual swords could work. I played katana before I switched to kusa, cleared fast enough. The only outlier is axe, which, eh, ok you got me. Sorry axe bro's xD
For spear you switch to full fanatic, for sword, you stay this set, and use the living weapon sword skill (SKILL) to kill bosses. Everything clears slower however to kusa's.
Rather than ask what are the best Prestige bonuses to go for, what are the three from Agyo and Ungyo to avoid? I'm guessing Luck, Life and Vs. Yokai Realm from Agyo, and Item Drop Rate, Ki, and Elixir Effect on Life Recovery from Ungyo.
Probably too late, but could we get a closer look at the lower lvl (111) version of this build? The previous video didn't show us the gear used! Is it roughly the same? 259 is soo high..
Same armor. For more consolidation, I made a new char for the axe build I'll upload pretty soon, and ran through the game with susanoo from act 4 ng to...well omi region ng+, no upgrades past base divine (even then didn't have all sanada pcs divine nor yasakani for extra 30% from fanatic.). Can't get it really working until you get blade spin but when you do yah, don't need to be high lvl at all. Piece the build together, and try and see :p
Have you tried Kara and nue helmet? Not sure if the combo is viable with the crap recovery rating (D) haven't done any testing in that aspect.
not viable. recovery is crucial and kara fails at it.

Could you do the build without sanada, as a lot of people don't have it, including how to raise critical close combat because it's confusing at mine is 42%.
yah full fanatics in place of sanada is fine. ctac from fanatic/sanada set should be around 50-60%. ex. sanada is 58% with 2pc fanatic. full fanatic is 45%. Then with ctac on WPN (max 24.9%), that raises it passed 90% with spear passives at top of tree. Then you can go further with special effects critical on accessories.
PWARGaming - my stats at 43% then in critical state it goes to 63%.
I'm using:
Full fanatics set.
+13 critical effect boost charm
+ critical close combat 24.9% (max familiarity)
Do I need to use spirit guardian that boost critical effect?
hmm weird. I mean just look at the set itself, 2pc fan is 30%, you say you have 24% on wpn, than you would clearly be over 43% with that alone not including the special effects boost from 6 pc fanatic. Spirit guardian has nothing to do with it as kato is not critical, nor is suzaku.
PWARGaming - I only have 1 piece of charm, and weapon giving 43%. The set increases it with passives from other weapons.
There are spirit guardian that boosts Critical damage effects, 1 for 20% and another which I can't remember.
QUESTION: Your Sayoarashi (main weapon) has "Change to attack (Dexterity) A+" and then 4 lines below it "Change to attack (Dexterity) B+" Which one is it? Is the bottom section different from the top?
Let's just hope they keep the PVE stat balances separated from that of PvP. Otherwise the pvp is gonna be a huge clusterfuck, which can be fun until the gimicks are unraveled and a meta is set.

Back in the days where we had unlimited LW and the op blade spin. These are great old memories, but TN just has to do their job. But @PWARGaming have also countered their multiple nerfs, so why would 1.20 put a pulse on these kinda vids.
My game was automatically updated to 1.20 when i was at floor 450, but i still reached to 999 one shotting every single bosses mostly without weakness talismen. Swapping out kagetsu like you said and using the GS that boots strong attack damage as the 2nd GS, rolling Damage increase to enemies with agility B.
The nerf is not as bad as you all think, speaking from my own experience. I reached 999 without soul matching my weapon to the max, it's really the skills that makes the difference. Was only soul matching each hundred floors, but the damage is still enough to one shot all yokais and most human enemies.
Was really hoping to see more nioh videos when i updated my game to 1.20 by accident when i was climbing up the abyss, just because your builds always out damage other builds and feels like the official build guide. I know the game has come to the end, but am really hoping you to finish the last bit of it. You are the reason why people kept playing this game for so long and I feel like you are a part of Nioh. Make an abyss guide for climbing or an alternative build for 1.20 to put people back online!

I still don't understand how you can face 2 bosses at same time I tried an I'm level 149 an kept dodging but end up getting hit from other guy its ridiculous
I am assuming you are talking about human bosses. If it is a mission with both bosses already spawned, start with a cannon shot to the weak point of one of the bosses. This will knock that boss down so you can concentrate on the other one. It will be tough either way since you probably won't have time to down the first boss before the other one gets up, but it does give you a head start.
For dual human bosses that spawn after a few waves, try to position yourself behind where they spawn. You can easily take one of the bosses down to half before they finish buffing up and start attacking.

Question will this be good for even on Way of the Nioh and two what level where you on? (Way of the Strong, Way of the Demon, Way of the Wise, or Way of the Nioh)
Would a Fire affixed Kusa like the Shiranui be better than the Sayorashi? The only trade-offs are that Sayorashi has higher base Break stat and a Wind affix and Shiranui has a higher base Attack Multiplier and a Fire affix. I am thinking the Fire and Attack Multiplier from Shiranui would be preferred in this build...
Also on the subject on Lv 160 weapons; I am assuming you need to forge like crazy to get a Lv 160 Kusa, then Soulforge it to your Lv 150 Kusa. Am I incorrect in this assumption?
shiranui is best. 160 you have to beat 320 mission queens eyes, then you can forge it, but essentially yes, spam forge until you get it, then soul match your 150 to the 160.
I lucked out and snagged me a Shiranui yesterday. Already feeling godly and I'm not even 99 Dex yet (I am Lvl 141). The Change to Attack (Dexterity) A+ inhertiable affix is probably going to be the hardest part of maximizing this build I'm guessing.

@PWARgaming, i feel like this build is kinda flawed? Correct me if im wrong, but isnt the Shiranui the highest attack modifier Kusarigama in the game, and it also come with fire affix meaning it benefits from %fire damage outside of living weapon as well. also the ogress mask is horrible for this build at level 750, if you keep your sanada head piece you can get agility A giving you bonus agility damage in and out of living weapon, ogress mask will drop you to B even with max str and stamina. fire % damage only affects the red ticks of fire damage which are negligible compared to the 15-25k blade spin hits. i was a bit disapointed when i learned that a fire affix doesnt make my damage turn to fire...but then again that would really suck against yokai strong to fire if it did.
Alternatively you can get monk hood and get 200 toughness. I can't show every option of course, but both of those options didn't make much difference for me, I still melted everything as shown. But yah, I replied to people asking to go for shira. Not for the fire damage, but for the extra multiplier (620 vs 617 sayo). Though like in the video, I say it hardly matters, all that's on the edge of extreme perfectionism.
oh i figured, i used your build at level 200 or so, did everything you said it would do.....shredded everything, got to 750 and wanted to try to find something that was more well rounded and performed in and out of living weapon without critical health requirement....come to find out if id have just tried i would have realized this thing shreds just fine without being in critical health lol
Yah, you could go hybrid crit+normal (like I did for my sword build) and do totally fine in any scenario. Hell the build carried my new character from ng region 4 to ng+ omi region without upgrading past 150. Literally as soon as you get blade spin, and have full sanada (since no yasakani), you blitz through the entire game. It's a rediculous skill/build xD
I like the speed of this build I'm currently lvl 335 and pretty much destroy everything not as quickly obviously could I farm a regular kas and reforge for stats I need
Great work on this build! I have a few questions. First, I noticed in your new video for the Nippon Steel build, that you are using Tengen Kujaku and mention that it is stronger than Kato. Does that also hold true for the Susanoo build as well (LW critical)? Both have an A+ Recovery, so the ability to keep LW up would be about the same, however "the bird" has the better Might stat which would appear to allow it to take more hits.
How would you change Susanoo to accept Tengen Kujaku? Obviously "the bird" uses Wind instead of Fire, but would you also try to include the Extraction talisman as well (maybe instead of the Protection talisman)?
Lastly, for the pre-NG+ players, early to mid-game, what are some of the suggestions you give to those trying to level as Susanoo? I find it difficult to keep LW up (I am lvl 63, region 3, pre-Blade Spin) so I am assuming it is mostly only viable once you get Blade Spin and are able to keep the LW up through passives. I noticed a comment somewhere below that you suggested 36 Spirit, 30 Magic, 99 Dex and THEN whatever stats are needed for gear, but then, would that make it harder to get the passives you need to sustain LW (less Skill stat = less Samurai points)?

the key difference for a dedicated lw build and why it's not recommended is tengen needs to be in high stance to gain damage buff. In lw, you're locked into mid-stance, so while you'll gain the defense buff, you can't gain the damage buff. That's why.
And the susanoo early thing, i'm not 100% sure. That was just a guess and how I would see it's not impossible. dex is mainly for damage, but you can easily split that into 50/50 to be able to get more skill points, sure. 36 spirit and 30 magic is crucial however. As is cornered boar, the living wpn duration passives from omnyo, the duale sword ccd against full life enemies passives, and then of course, blade spin. I would use sword or something instead of kusa until blade spin, since kusa normal attacks are a bit slow. then whenver you get blade spin, just find a random high damage kusa and start the madness :p

Thanks for the quick reply! So far, I am able to keep LW up for a decent clip without Cornered Boar, Omnyo LW passives, 30 magic, 36 spirit. Two Small Spirit stones get my LW meter full, so for bosses, I can still do enough damage to make it viable. Granted, I can't run from pack to pack for an entire mission, so I will be working on those milestones you mentioned.

I know this would seem like a lot of work, but I feel this build deserves a well typed guide. Would be helpful to detail all the stats required on each piece of gear, where to farm the gear, where to farm soul stones, alternative gear and how the numbers crunch out, etc.
PWARgaming what armor and weapons do you suggest for exotic rarity because I'm trying to do this build before NG+ . and will Kato level 1 be okay for this build? Sorry if I got anything thought wrong, I'm still new to the game.
Full sanada or full fanatics is recommended. Lv1 kato should work, just upgrade armor every 10-20 levels and upgrade your kusa every 5 levels. By upgrade I mean, kill revenants for better kusa. and forge a new sanada set every 10-20 lvls or if you feel squishy. Carnage, quick change, and protection talis are a must. Maybe sloth if bosses become annoying.
PWARGaming I still don't understand the level system in this game. how do I forge a Sanada set? and how do I level up armor and weapons without soul matching? or is that the only way?
You forge a new set, that's how you upgrade. Forging a new pair is better than soul matching, cost less. stats are irrelevant in ng, just want to make sure you have the set bonuses. You keep doing that, because forging scales with the areas you defeated, up to 160. Or maybe they scale with your lvl, can't remember. If you have sanada to begin with (boons should give smithing text), then you can forge it whenever, how many times you want. leveling weapons shouldn't be your concern in ng, just find new ones that are stronger. soul matching is REALLY terrible for ng, same for reforging, they only become worth it in ng+.

if you're gonna make a LS build with critical, use Suzaku. Tenacity stat is off the charts. even the difference between a level 30 Suzaku and Level 30 Kato is extremely dramatic
ohhhhh, that's why i'm doing less damage on my fanatic set. you were using carnage against the tengu. have to retest with carnage on to see if i do more or less.
okay, so with carnage on i'm doing 22K against tengus (from the front) on blade spins with fanatic set and my accessories have 25.9 ccd against yokai and 23.8 living weapon enchancement
35K against the back of a tengu
49K against the back of lickatung
So basic stats are
160 (+9) Shiranui at 1870 attack
66.7 CCA on crit
36.4 Yokai CCD (accessories + prestige)
Living weapon attack enhancement 23.8
CCD 9.7
CCA 12.5
Skill Damage 20
Special Effects (crit) 50
I use power pill on 1st group in beginning of lv, then 1 carnage for the other two groups that pop up, then 1 each for each of the four bosses. I don't do oda, I'll post an exp run tomorrow.

How did you get Ogress mask ? I thought It drops via the Ogress but is taking too much time (like 3 hours).

It took a long time. Kodama bowl is ok. Use whatever, it really doesn't matter for helm. Ogress just gives more damage.

i have gotten one, but wasn't susano. just random, haven't played in a good minute. looks like they didn't fix anything, so you pretty much have to get the dlc3 for any chance of changes, unless they release a patch that fixes things day-of dlc3 release.

Your builds aré just amazing! Im trying to play with an axe build, do te finnish the game yen, any suggestion?
How is this even remotely fun? I understand you did it just to prove that it's possible, but I wouldn't find playing a build like this enjoyable at all. I have a pretty solid DPS Katana Low-Stance build that tears through everything, but he's a glass cannon and I can still get easily murdered in Way Of The Strong. This is kind of overkill to me. Great video though. I'm pretty sure a lot of people are interested in this type of gameplay.
Think of it as more of a diablo 3 approach. Not about challenge or complexity, it's about efficiency and mowing everything in sight. That's basically what this build is. also lw builds are the absolute kings at farming amrita so many people use this build or other crit lw builds with suzaku to farm bankkkkk amrita to get to super high levels. I never personally go passed 300, but there's some people who do.
But I don't get people like you who ask this (there's quite a few on this vid). It's a playstyle. If you don't like it, fine, but don't question whether someone is having fun with it if you've never tied it yourself nor are you that person to say what they should like or not. It's just puzzling to me. Glad you're a little more reasonable than most but yah, the question is puzzling to me. God mode and cheats exist in video games and have been for people to have a some fun or not care about dying, think of this as that :p
Right. I think you misunderstood me. I don't find it fun myself. Doesn't mean others can't enjoy it. You do what you like. I like having insight on all builds which is why I said it was a great video. I just wouldn't see myself enjoying the build on this type of game. I like having the challenge of still being susceptible to death at all times, it just gives me better immersion and an overall more fun experience. This has been the case for nearly every RPG or Action-RPG I've played for the past decade. I just like challenging myself and overcoming battles with skill, not saying this build doesn't require skill of course. I developed this mentality In Diablo 2 and made it my priority ever since I beat Dark Souls 1. I respect your play style, I just felt like saying it wasn't for me but was still good. I actually have made plenty overkill builds in RPGs before, I just seem to get bored of the game faster like that.
Fair enough, but then the build is just not meant for you, its as simple as that. Not everyone is going to like every build, but options is a must and judging by the popularity of this build/video, I'd say lots of people enjoy it. It may not be their 1st build, or 2nd, but they should know that this is a possibility and something they can do whenever they feel like, if they chose so. This was the 2nd build I made, and I still made more after, and still am making more, still enjoying the game despite the game being 1 month old already. Which is nothing compared to monster hunter or say elder scrolls fans who dump thousands of hours into mainly single player experiences.
So yah, the moral is not everyone is the same :p People like different things. Evidence being you said everything with "I". "I" just like challenging myself", etc etc. That's you, an individual. I wouldn't question why you liked something, because you're a totally different person than me probably, so to question someones preference is strange is all I'm saying (which goes for anyone asking, even though you/they might genuinely be curious.). I like challenge to, but I also like turning up the heat whenever I feel like, I'm not limited to just this one build, and nor is anyone else. Simply options.

can't get text for sayo kusa. Nor shiranui (best kusa's). And yah, it's luck, but wpns can only roll 5 stats BESIDE their stats that come with certain weapons. Sayo kusa, at max, can roll 6. The trick to getting 7 is getting 6 stats WITHOUT inheritable stat symbol, then you can transfer an inheritable stat onto the weapon to make it 7 stats.

Also I see a lot of people using the Kodama bowl indeed. Im trying this build on my level 115 player. Do you think i should use a kodama bowl or ogress mask? thank you!
kodama bowl is only good for amrita farming, not progressing. It gives you a measly 7% amrita at maximum kodamas found for a region. Ogress just gives 20% fire damage, so its more damage. A better helm would be monk hood which has special 40% toughness boost, enabling you to be at/over 200 toughness. I found I don't need it since everything melted before they could touch me so opted for the extra damage of ogress, but its hard to get.
