      ya. MAJOR sexual dimorphism
Rathian is heavier and tends to stay on the land, her scales are green so she has better camoflauge in the forests.
Rathalos is lighter and tends to fly around alot more. he's red (with white underbelly) to work his camaflouge him self in the sky (or with the volcanic ground if something bigger is above him. similar to sharks)

There's actually some monsters that weren't included here, likely because they were added later in updates. Check out the intros for Bazelgeuse, Teostra, Kushala Daora, Chameleos, and ESPECIALLY check out the intro for Crimson Glow Valstrax, as its one of the coolest and most creative monsters in the whole franchise. Dragons don't get much cooler than one with literal organic jet engines for wings.

The funny thing about Azuros is that he loves honey so much that he fails to notice any potential predators sneaking up on him and get killed.
Should a hunter be carrying honey on then (a main ingredient for Mega Potion) Azuros will grab the hunter, shake them until they drop the honey and eat it to regain health. A lot of people were laughing at the title card he got ‘Bloodlust Incarnate’ when he isn’t that all aggressive as they claim to be.

Rise! I was curious if you guys were going to touch on this one. With the DLC expansion coming out at the end of this month, your timing is impeccable. Now, for some fun tidbits of ecological and biological information. I’ll try to avoid duplicate monsters - as all the ecological information stated on the Iceborne video would just be redundant.
    2:00
Arzuros, Ken hit it right on the head. He is a big ole’ bear that likes fish and honey. A daily low tier monster, and likely one of the first new hunters tend to fight. His first appearance was in Monster Hunter Portable Third. A fun fact about his fight: if your character is carrying any sort of honey on their person, he’ll pin you down and steal it for himself! He’ll be so enticed by it that he’ll stop mid fight to eat his fill of your honey, he just loves it that much.
    3:15
The Great Baggi - one of the many “Great” archetype monsters in the franchise. Any monster with the prefix “great” is often the leader of its pack, likely being the dominant male of the group. There is of course one exception which you find in this video - but the general rule applies. Great Baggi uses tranquilizing venom to put prey and hunters to sleep, which it will then follow up with a devastating bite. He first appeared in the same game as Arzuros: portable third.
    5:25
Tetrandon, he was actually one of the new editions, being exclusive to Rise. The sumo slamming platypus will in fact shoot globs of water at its opponents. Also, he has a nasty habit of swallowing his enemies whole during a sumo match - don’t let him grapple you! He’sl also based on the Yokai: Kappa.
    5:50
Remember that aforementioned “exception”? Royal Ludroth is in fact it, as he’s another “great” archetype, in spite of his name. The “royal” comes from the fact that Royal Ludroth are all male, as the dominant male grows out his spongy mane and takes a harem of female ludroth with him, much like a Zebra.
    9:50
Another MHR original, Bishaten. An herbivorous monster themes after modern day lemurs and primates. A fun fact about the poor animals its torturing with nuts, those are Bombadgys. They carry explosive gas from the plants they eat, which causes them to kinda blow up under stress - like getting pelted by berries and nuts.
    7:00
Yup, that's an apt reaction to your first Khezu. He's another oldie, coming from the original Monster Hunter. As you can see, he is a giant leech with wings. He swallows his prey hole and sits on the ceiling. His neck can stretch to incredible lengths - and oh, did I mention he's bioelectric? He'll spit lighting at you from left and right, even turn himself into a giant taser and ram into you. All the while he sniffs the air for your location, because as you can see, it's blind. Khezu is the only Monster in the franchise to have no theme music, literally nothing. The entire fight is just him screaming at you: no music - not even the generic battle theme. Terrifying, no?
    10:40
The Queen of the Skies herself, Rathian. She’s on oldy, being with the game series since the very beginning. She is also one of the series only examples of Sexual Dimorphism, a real life biological phenomenon where males and females of a species look radically different. The best real world examples would be Lions and Peacocks. All Rathian you see are females, and their male counterparts are Rathalos. The females are ground based to protect their eggs, while the males are more efficient fliers and go out hunting for their mates while she guards the eggs and hatchlings. Fun fact, a baby Rathalos or Rathian is called a Rathlet - and they’re brown until they mature into a green or red hue depending on their gender. Absolutely adorable.
    12:21
Sommacanth is another rise original, being themed after both a siren and a sea otter. Oftentimes you can see wild sommacanth cracking open shells on their bellies much like modern day otters do with sea urchins. Sommacanth also possesses a strong sleep tranquilizer much like Baggi, which lures unsuspecting prey to sleep.
    15:35
Basirios, he’s a rock dragon. First appearing in the original Monster Hunter, he’s another oldie come to the modern age. This monster is actually a baby, as it's a younger version of another monster - Gravios. It can’t really control its fire yet, so it just expels it in a gaseous form. Adult basarios (Or Gravios as they’re known in game) are capable of breathing straight up flaming lasers instead of gas.
    16:00
Magnamalo, the flagship monster of Monster Hunter rise. His picture is on the box, and he makes it known. His name literally translates to “Great Evil” in latin. That purple flame is likely based on a modern day compound named Nitrogen Trioxide Trioxide is exceedingly flammable when mixed with flammable materials, and due to its constant diet of other animals Magnamalo oozes the stuff. When it gets angry, its entire body lights up in those purple flames, and it inflicts the status Hellfire Blight - causing hunters and prey to explode if left exposed for too long.
    20:22
Mizutsune: the bubble wyvern! This was one of the four flagships of Monster Hunter Generations - along with Glavenus (the sword tailed dinosaur from the last video). It secretes literal suds and soap from its body in the form of a special oil. Getting hit by a bubble inflicts bubble blight, which will cause you to slip and slide all across the battlefield. All the Mizutsune you hunt in game are males, as they tend to get overly aggressive during breeding season.
    25:20
    Rakna-Kadaki - its a spider nuff-said.
Okay - it's a tad more than a spider. Most of the monsters created in Rise are themed after Japanese Yokai - or spirits. Kadaki is based on the Jorōgumo and Tsuchigumo, the former being a ghost from Japanese folklore, and the former the latter being spider-human hybrid based Yokai. She wears her kids on her back and will even attack them during combat.
    26:55 and 27:50
The final bosses of Monster Hunter Rise: Wind Serpent Ibushi and Thunder Serpent Narwa. These two are a pair, which is why their timestamps are the same. As with Rathian, this is another example of Sexual Dimorphism in Monster Hunter: Ibushi being the male and Narwa being female. The reason you hear Narwa call out to Ibushi is due to it attempting to mate. However, this pair has an more - gruesome methodology for mating, Much like praying mantis and spiders, these animals are sexual cannibals. Narwa after mating with Ibushi will shortly thereafter cannibalize him, and use the added energy to become Allmother Narwa, a far stronger version in which she gains his wind powers and mixes them with her lighting powers. The male dies, and she uses his lifeforce to fertilize her eggs and keep herself alive long enough to nurture then,
Oh, and did I forget to mention that these two are Elder Dragons: A.K.A apocalyptic in nature? Ibushi before was strong enough to nearly nuke a village, and he’s the smaller, weaker male. Imagine what a juiced up Allmother Narwa could do.

It's been pointed out before but many of the newer monsters introduced in Rise were based off Yokai of Japanese lore. The Great Izuchi is based off the Yokai known as the Kamaitachi, a single yokai, or a trio depending on the region that tells the legend. Kamaitachi are weasels that have sickles for limbs in place of their arms and legs (Kama meaning sickle and Itachi meaning Weasel in Japanese so "Sickle Weasel"). The Aknosom is based on a type of yokai that is an umbrella with one eye and a long tongue that hopes around on one leg..the yokai comes into being when an umbrella is neglected and not cared for for 100 years..it's from an entire subclass of yokai that are common everyday items that come to life after being around for 100 years and gain sentience.
Tetranodon is based of the Kappa, river dwellers that have a penchant for sumo and are notorious for their strength. They drag children into the water and drown them, you can prevent people from being taken by the Kappa by carving their name into a cucumber (a favorite treat of the Kappa) and throwing it into the water as an offering. If you are confronted by one on land you can trick them into bowing because they are very traditional and by bowing to one they will return the gesture...and lose the water that's in the depression in their head and thus have to rush to the water lest they die as that bit of water is what keeps them alive and gives them their strength when on land.
Bishaten is based on the Tengu, legendary swordsmen with raven heads and wings that live high in the mountains. But DON'T try and play a trick on them, lest they drop you in an active volcano in retaliation. The Almudron is based on a yokai that lives in swamps and resembles an old man. The "fat racoon" monsters that were in Bishaten's intro are called Bombadgy and based on the Tanuki a yokai that has a long time rivalry with the Kitsune...and are rather famous for the size of the balls..no I'm not lying about that, look them up. Also Tom Nook from Animal Crossing is supposed to be a Tanuki, and Tanuki are real creatures in Japan sometimes called "Badger Dogs" for their looks, Shukaku in Naruto, the 1 Tailed Beast is a Tanuki. That's just off the top of my head so I'd suggest doing a little research on Yokai if that catches your interest.

If for nothing else, I recommend RageGamingVideos's Pro vs Newb Monster Hunter series as a "just for fun" watch because they come up with a short rap for every new monster they encounter.
I personally like it because they also give some lore for returning monsters and give very amusing commentary on their hunts. But beyond the amusing raps, just watching two guys banter while hunting isn't for everyone.
Still, glad you got to see these intros. Hopefully in a few months you can react to the intros for the monsters released after this batch and in the Sunbreak expansion!

  • @BBLeviathan-Gaming

For context Rise monsters were based on yokai. The entire theme of Rise was based on Japanese traditional Folklore and monster myths
Izuchi is based on the Kamiitachi (the trio of sickle wielding weasels, always in threes)
Tetranadon was based on the Kappa
Almudron off of the Dorotabo, or the restless spirits of the dead typically found on battlefields
Magnamalo was based on haunted Samurai armor, will-o-wisps, grudge spirits, and Byakko the Tiger of the East
Goss Harag was based on Namahage
Bishaten was based off of the Tengu
Somnacanth was based on the Japanese version of the mermaid
Rakna-kadachi was based on Jorugumo, or a spider version of a centaur
Aknosom was based on the kasa-obake, or a one-eyed, one-legged umbrella spirit
Narwa and Ibushi were based on Raijin and Fujin, two Japanese gods
Rajang was actually based on Goku from Dragon Ball if it wasn’t obvious enough. His entire character design and move set was based on him, rage state is Super Saiyan, red areas are Kaioken, and his beam is the Kamahameha and if you cut his tail off you prevented him from going rage mode in older games.
It’s actually a common trend in the series to have the monsters be based on folklore or mythology. And most of them can be quite interesting and recognizable when you look at them.

It’s hilarious that arzuros of all monsters is bloodlust incarnate. Leave him alone and he is blue from the jungle book. Also fun fact. The reason tigrex’s intro went on longer than usual, is because they were showing one of its most prominent attacks, he is one of the few monsters whose roar can actually damage the player

Monster Hunter is such a great franchise, I love the diversity and uniqueness of all the creatures, while still giving them a sense of "evolution" by re-using certain base models to hint at some sort of evolutive tree.
"King of the Sky" and "Queen of the Land" AKA Rathalos and Rathian, as you guessed are "related" as in they are the same species: namely the Rathios is the male and the Rathian is the female.
Fun fact about the Diablos: many monsters have chromatic variations or "rare species", like the Rathalos is ordinarily red, but can also be found blue and silver, the Diablos can also be found black (and I mean completely matte black with only the eyes shining yellow) with the black one being the more powerful variant AKA the female; in past games one of the hardest monster to hunt was a black Diablos called "Kuroneko" meaning "black cat", this is because both her horns were already broken when you start the fight and the stumps remind of a cat's round eyes.
As always, for MH, I higly recommend you check the size comparisons, but aside from that, great video and I hope you had a great time seeing these videos, Monster Hunter always fills me with childish glee (I mean, a world of dinosaurs and dragons, can you blame me?) and I hope it does the same for you too.

Timestamps + info. Any brand new monsters introduced in Rise will be given a quick line mentioning their Japanese Yokai origins.
1:14 Great Izuchi, Bird Wyvern. Great Izuchi are the large alpha male version of the smaller Izuchi. They’re raptors with sharp hand talons and a sickle-like claw on the ends of their tails they use to attack prey and opponents. Unlike older Great monsters who use dog piling tactics to overwhelm a hunter with their underlings, Great Izuchi picks out two Izuchi with the sharpest tails and recruits it into its mini pack. It then does synchronized team attacks with them with varying Attack patterns and such. They are based on the Japanese yokai, Kamaitachi, or Sickle Weasel. The thing they’re chasing is called a Gargwa, chunky flightless bird that eats grass and small insects.
2:02 Arzuros, Fanged Beast. Arzuros is a big blue bear that eats fish. Despite what this entry might tell you, Arzuros are some of the coolest monsters around. They spend most of their time at the end of rivers catching fish and foraging for honey. Sometimes they get so distracted with their honey eating that larger monsters sneak up and eat them because they’re not very perceptive creatures. Cute, almost.
2:48 Great Baggi, Bird Wyvern. A raptor native is ice regions, it can spit a liquid that induces sleep on prey and opponents. It is usually followed by two smaller Baggi but they don’t so cool team attacks like Izuchi do. They just spit globs of sleep juice at you and are annoying.
3:52 Lagombi, Fanged Beast. Extremely chunky and furry rabbit-like bears, they live in ice regions and slide around like sleds on their stomachs. They primarily eat mushrooms but do eat fish, herbs, and insects occasionally. They have a tendency to pick up snowballs and toss them as projectiles at potential threats.
4:35 Aknosom, Bird Wyvern. Aknosom are large bird-like creatures that live near water. They hop around on one leg for fun sometimes and eat mostly fish and Altaroth, the little ant creature you see here. They have a crest on their head that resembles an eye for intimidation. They use their wings to create shadows in water to help hunt fish, like some real-world birds. Aknosom also can spit small bouncing fireballs. Fans are still trying to figure this out. Aknosom is based on the yokai Kasa-Obake, or spirit parasol that hops on one leg and has one eye and the Basan, a big fire breathing bird.
5:16 Tetranadon, Amphibian. Tetranadon are large semi-aquatic egg laying monsters of justice. They love to eat these small creatures called Goocumbers, so they swallow up water and gravel to try and find them, causing them to bloat up. When in this state they can either projectile spew it at you or fight you like a sumo wrestler, using ear clapping techniques, squashes, and throws. Tetranadon is based off of the yokai, Kappa. Small turtle men known to love cucumbers and sumo wrestling. Originally meant to keep children away from rivers, now a symbol for anti-river pollution in modern Japan.
5:54 Royal Ludroth, Leviathan. Royal Ludroth are the male version of the smaller Ludroth. They have a sponge-like mane around their neck which stores water, keeping them moist as they travel across land to reach their next water destination. They can spit globs of mucous from their mouths to trap small prey. Dried out Ludroth turn grey and are really sad to look at.
6:48 Khezu, Flying Wyvern. A mostly albino species, completely blind cave dwellers who prefer frozen regions. Their screams invoke terror in small children and most adults. Capable of crawling in cave walls and ceilings, stretching their neck to horrifying proportions, and also can generate electricity to paralyze prey. Also has a lovely smile.
7:21 Kulu-Ya-Ku, Bird Wyvern. Chicken-like raptors that sneak into herbivore nests and steal eggs with their specialized hands. They like eating eggs. Kulu are intelligent enough to pick up small boulders and pots to use as shields and blunt weapons against hunters. Kinda clumsy though.
8:09 Great Wroggi, Bird Wyvern. Raptor that enjoys hot locations, these pig snouted creatures enjoy spewing toxic globs and gas at prey and other monsters and people. The little ones act like Baggi, taking pot shots to try and slow you down while dad does all the work.
8:54 Barroth, Brute Wyvern. A creature with similar personality to a hippo. They live in mud pools and primarily eat termites, smashing open their mounds with its tough head. Barroth are very territorial. Their nose is broken up into multiple pipes that stick out of the top of its head, allowing them to breathe while completely submerged.
9:48 Bishaten, Fanged Beast. A monkey-like mammal with wings and a grabby hand tail. These guys eat persimmons and store them in a pouch on their chest. These persimmons can have a varying selection of effects ranging from hard and blunt projectile, Poison gas grenade, paralysis inducing gas grenade, or a glowing flash bang one. Bishaten itself is not immune to these effects and often users it’s nose after throwing these fruit at you. It’s a really cool touch to make it seem more real. You can actually steal these persimmons and use them against Bishaten which is fun. Bishaten is based on the Japanese yokai, the Tengu. Bird based wind manipulators. It likes to prank Bombadgy, fat little creatures full of a highly combustible gas. Whack em hard enough and they go boom.
10:38 Rathian, Flying Wyvern. The female counterpart to Rathalos, it can shoot fireballs and has venomous barbs on its tail. Rathian is known for performing backflips to fight ground based opponents.
11:22 Pukei Pukei, Bird Wyvern. Pukei Pukei use their long tongues to slurp up and eat various mushrooms, herbs, and nuts to turn into poison for it to spit out of its mouth or blast a gas cloud out of its gross tail. They’re cute, I like them.
12:18 Somnacanth, Leviathan. These creatures produce a Sleep-inducing powder from their throats which can be ejected from either the slits on their necks or from their mouths. They use the round drum-like part on their stomach to crack open clam shells like an otter. They sing their songs to communicate to each other. In some instances, sailors have confused a distant Somnacanth for a beautiful woman. Somnacanth are based on old Japanese mermaid renditions.
13:09 Tobia Kadachi, Fanged Wyvern. Fast and agile snake headed creatures, they generate electricity from their movements and can rip static charge out of trees to boost up. They also have flaps of skin like a flying squirrel or some lizard species. Known for throwing electrified quills as well.
13:45 Barioth, Flying Wyvern. Capable of flight, it uses the unique scales on its wings and claws to have strong traction on ice. They also can spit out frosted hurricanes, I don’t know how that works.
14:30 Volvidon, Fanged Beast. An armadillo-like bear monster mostly known for eating flying insects. They roll and cannonball around as a general means of life. Due to their diets they can spit globs of paralytic yuck at things to force them to stop moving. They also are known to release a foul smelling gas from their behind. This prevents the player from using any consumable items because ew.
15:02 Basarios, Flying Wyvern. Covered in armour that is like rock but not quite, it likes to hide around and sleep. Capable of producing lava, fire, Poison gas, and sleep gas. The gas comes from its underside as a defensive measure to protect the soft belly. Basarios is actually the young juvenile stage of a monster known as Gravios, who isn’t in Rise or Rise Sunbreak.
15:58 Magnamalo, Fanged Wyvern. Magnamalo are extreme apex predators. Covered in samurai-like armour, it uses its flexible tail to duel opponents like a spirit warrior with a spear. Magnamalo feast upon monsters and releases a byproduct of the excess energy in the form of Hellfire. A highly flammable purple gas they Magnamalo to ignite with certain parts of its body. In many cases, Magnamalo produce this gas behind them and light it, allowing them to rocket jump forward or into the sky to take out airborne target, like Rathalos. Magnamalo is the primary Flagship or Mascot of MHRise and unfortunately I’m not 100% certain on its design origins.
17:03 Anjanath, Brute Wyvern. Large trex creature that hunts smaller prey. It uses an organ in its throat that contains a fine powder to create fire, spewing it out flames from its mouth and nose. Speaking of which, Anjanath can release a pair of large sails on its back that help with heat distribution and open up a large bony protrusion from its snout to intake more oxygen through its nose. This helps cool off and collect oxygen to help the fire burn. Anjanath are also known to spit snot mucous on rocks and trees to mark territory.
18:15 Rathalos, Flying Wyvern. The mascot of the whole franchise! Rathalos is the male counterpart to Rathian, and unlike her lacks venomous tail spines. Instead Rathalos have venomous glands in their feet talons, much more effective for air combat and from above ambushes. Rathalos also uses many more fire breath based attacks compared to Rathian. Together they are the King of the Sky and Queen of the Land.
19:05 Nargacuga, Flying Wyvern. Nargacuga are fast ambush hunters with bladed wings and barbed tails with fireable quills. Their tails are slightly stretchy and can be used as a slamming weapon. Nargacuga are unfortunately incapable of powered flight. Their eyes also glow, it’s pretty.

Diablos is capable of hovering for a couple of seconds after leaving a Pitfall, but due to the weight it can’t properly fly. It simply doesn’t have the energy nor build for it.
Gracious also could do this in older games but his son, Basarios, now simply climbs out of or hops out of traps rather than hovering for a second. They can however se their wings to do a big jump and come back down like a Thwomp, but otherwise they’re not really doing what I would call “Flying”

In a previous game Tigrex was actually seen flying away from an area.
In games I believe they only fly to escape pitfalls.
The Monster Hunter wiki also confirms that they can fly.

The 'evil incarnate' monster with the purple flame is Rise's "flagship" monster, meaning he (Magnamalo, barbarous beast), is featured on the games box art. (Every monster Hunter game has a specific monster that is integral to a certain part of the story, thus becoming the "poster/pin-up gal" of the game).
Without spoiling anything, it has a very specific reason why the voiceover/narrator for the Wind and Thunder Serpents wasn't the same as all the others.
You missed some monster intros that were added as free title updates after the Wind and Thunder Serpents (those are pretty charming and funny too, I promise!)

Rajang is one of those monsters that you generally want to _avoid_ unless you absolutely _must_ fight it. Usually whenever Rajang is present on a map, it will just be sleeping peacfully off in some isolated area of the map minding it's own business until you or another monster winds up rousing it (intentionally or otherwise), at which point it will just attack whatever is within reach with extreme prejudice. Rajang is hyper-aggressive and one of the few non-Elder Dragons that not only _can_ tangle with Elder Dragons, but _will_ tangle with Elder Dragons. Rajang is extremely fast, hits like a freight train, and has only two moods: Angry, and Furious. The thing is like the physical manifestation of rage itself. If it's awake, then it's pissed off. The only time it's not pissed off is when it's sleeping, and even _then_ it might still be pissed off.
Rajang also has one of the most blatantly (and cruelly) one-sided Turf Wars in existence. It has a Turf War with poor _Pukei-Pukei_ of all things, and Pukei-Pukei doesn't even _try_ to fight back, it knows it can't win so it just tries to run away as soon as it sees Rajang, but Rajang won't _let_ Pukei-Pukei escape and just beats the poor thing around like a ragdoll. It's one of the few Turf Wars where I legitimately feel bad for one of the participants (that being Pukei-Pukei). That Turf War is basically pitting an "endgame" tier monster against a "beginner" tier minster, as Rajang can hold it's own against Elder Dragons, while Pukei-Pukei is consistently one of the earliest monsters you can run into. Rajang is always the a-hole in a given fight, but it's deadly enough that you'd generally just feel pity for whatever pissed it off but let Rajang pound on it's current victim than put yourself in Rajang's crosshairs.
And Rajang always has the advantage when fighting Thunder-element monsters, as Rajang is totally immune to Thunder damage (in fact, hitting Rajang with Thunder damage just supercharges it and makes it stronger), meaning monsters like Zinogre are at a massive disavantage against Rajang.

Timestamps 2, because UA-cam said my comment was too long
19:43 Zinogre, Fanged Wyvern. Zinogre are giant wolf-like monsters that share a symbiotic relationship with Thunderbugs, a common prey item of Gargwa, the fat ducky things. Zinogre lets the Thunderbugs nest in its fur and built-in hives on its back made from its scales. In exchange Zinogre can charge itself up with lightning and call upon the bugs as projectiles and the bugs get a safe place to live that happens to love eating their own main predator. Wonders of nature!
20:18 Mizutsune, Leviathan. Mizutsune are normally very docile and passive creatures that live by riverbanks and eat fish. They them selves are not incredible swimmers. Mizutsune secrete this slimy fluid from their bodies which rub against their bristly purple hairs and the ground to create bubbles and soap. Mizutsune use this bubble fluid to slide around quickly and travel, using their insanely sharp claws to keep traction and maneuver better. Mizutsune claws are some of the toughest materials known to The Guild. During the mating season, male Mizutsune became extra aggressive, which then leads to them getting to close to villages forcing Hunters to spook them away or kill them.
Mizutsune was actually a Flagship, and part of a group of Flagships known as the Fated Four. The members include Glavenus the sword tail fire dinosaur, Mizutsune the bubble fox, Astalos the literal electric dragon fly (now in Sunbreak), and Gammoth the ice mammoth. The four haven’t been in a game together since Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings or Ruin, a spin-off, and their last proper game appearance together was in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, the 15’th anniversary game.
21:12 Almudron, Leviathan. Almudron are large leviathans that live in mud pools and watery areas with soil. They produce a golden substance from their mouths and tail which acts as a kind of acid, melting dirt into mud for them to swim through. Almudron can stick their tails in the earth and push up mud, creating pillars and walls to trap and halt enemies. Almudron are based off of the Japanese myth of an earthquake causing catfish.
22:01 Goss Harag, Fanged Beast. My favourite! Goss Harag are giant bears native to frosted regions. They carry an organ that produces a “bile” that they can projectile vomit. Once it makes contact with air, it instantly freezes. Goss can spray this on his arms and by manipulating the movements, can create giant ice swords or clubs for his hands. Goss Harag’s arms, legs, and face will turn red when using its ice abilities. This is because it pumps blood to these parts of the body to prevent frostbite. It’s also why Goss Harag lacks a snout despite being a bear, helps with the cold. Goss Harag is based on the Namahage, a Japanese yokai or oni known to carry around giant knives and are kinda like Japan’s krampus, spooking naughty kids every year.
22:51 Tigrex, Flying Wyvern. Tigrex are brutal, high stamina beasts that just are really good at running. Tigrex are known for having a roar so strong and mighty that their bones may begin to rattle and crack from the sheer force it can let out. Fairly simple animal, but an effective hunter.
23:39 Diablos, Flying Wyvern. Big horned sand digger, extraordinarily territorial and dangerous. Eats purely cacti and will protect it to the grave. “Protect the cornucopia.” When angry they may huff black smoke out of their mouths. Doesn’t really mean anything, it’s just scary.
24:32 Jyuratodus, Piscine Wyvern. Big fish with legs that lives in mud and swamps. He spit mud sometimes. He like mud.
25:14 Rakna-Kadaki, Temnoceran (spider). Rakna keeps an egg sac on its behind constantly, always producing and storing its babies called Rachnoids. It can toss them out to act as little flamethrower or web turrets because yes, Rakna Kadaki can breathe fire for some strange reason. It can also produce a gas around its underside that it can ignite to go fwooosh, big fire. She’s quite pretty. I forget exactly what Rakna is based on since there are so many spider based yokai. She’s also based on the assassin spider, known for having a long freaky neck.
25:58 Rajang, Fanged Beast. The monkey tough enough to challenge Elder Dragons. Rajang are little packages of fury and muscle, capable of ripping huge boulders of of the earth and tossing them like basketballs. Rajang can flare up and turn their fur yellow, building up charge to then fire electrical shots and laser beams as well as just electrifying their punches. Due to being a mammal and made of meat, Rajang can compensate for lack of armour by pumping ridiculous amounts of blood into its arms, tightening the muscles to be harder than rock. Not even the sharpest of weapons can make a scratch. Rajang are highly nomadic and travel basically anywhere they damn please.
26:52 Wind Serpent Ibushi, Elder Dragon. A male prince looking for its mate, capable of producing and utilizing Dragon Element to manipulate wind currents. Ibushi is a mysterious flying terror who floats upside down simply because he knows it confuses the hell out of us. Ibushi appears to be one of few monsters who can purify Dragon Element from its red chaotic state into a blue bioenergy state, only seen in one other monster.
27:53 Thunder Serpent Narwa. Holder of the largest thunder organ in the series, she produces an intense amount of electro magnetic energy that can lift boulders from the ground. She also can shoot giant rings of electricity from her hands and mouth.
Ibushi and Narwa are tiring to reproduce, every 50 years this happens. When they travel though, Ibushi and Narwa’s Dragon Element and electro magnetic field cause a disturbance in the balance of nature, causing the monsters below to go crazy and start The Rampage. A horde of monsters rushing to Kamura Village, that you need to stop. Some monsters even go further beyond and get new Apex forms. Together they are based on Fujinn and Raijinn, the Japanese gods of Wind and Thunder.
There are at least five more monsters with intros in this game because of free Updates as well as six other Apex monsters who don’t but really don’t matter that much in your case.

I think it would be great now if you reacted to the monster hunter generations intros as you've now watched world, iceborne and rise. The older games also had intros so it would be cool if you reacted to more of them.
This would then help you understand the monsters more once you started warching the turf wars (which are only in world, iceborne and rise). Then you could also watch the size comparison.
Also just to let you guys know, monster hunter will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2024, which is year that mh 6 should be released.

So for Instance World was the base game and Iceborn was the master rank game. So by design those monsters on master rank sets are always going to be more epic because by that point the players are experienced and geared enough to take on harder hurts out the gate.
