- 'From The Factory Floor’ takes you on a deep dive into select processes around the PRS factory. In this episode, we look at how our inlay team makes eye-catching headstock veneers. From traditional belt sanding to cutting-edge CNC milling, a surprising amount of work goes into creating a beautiful and instantly recognizable headstock.
Enjoy a view “From the Factory Floor” as Woodshop Construction Manager Veronika Kirkpatrick narrates this process.

I love these behind the scenes videos!
I like learning about this "stuff!" You did a great job, Veronica!
I agree, these "From the Factory Floor" videos are beyond cool. They're a great insight to what PRS does to produce their amazing guitars. Only downside is everytime I watch one of these it makes me wanna buy another. I mean I'm totally cool with it. My wife on the other hand... 🤔 🤣
The headstock veneer is a really good idea. Adds character.
Come on Verónica!! Do some more!! I enjoy these small segments. Keep them coming!!
Great job Veronica. Y’all need to do some more. Love my PRS guitars :)
So cool to see what my son does at work!!
Sam is not only skilled, he's a cool cat!
Outstanding. And! Sam makes some *very* cool skateboards too.
My favorite part is seeing the logo get stuck on! So cool and always wondered how the inlay got installed
Oh she has to do more of these now! This was great. thanks for sharing.
Love this series!
lol
So cute at the end...
Very cool video, learned a lot
These are a lot of fun to watch.
I want to work there making headstock veneers, it looks like fun.
Fascinating
Kom igen Veronika! Gjor mer videos ;)
That’s pretty incredible!
Cool, i really thought the veneers were glued on the headstock first and THEN shaped and finished.
Very cool!
I own several PRS Core guitars and 3 SE guitars with Floyd bridges. Big fan as you can imagine :) My P24 in Fireburst Red is wonderful but I am not sure what kind of wood is on the headstock. It looks a bit like rosewood (?) Please tell me what kind of wood are you using in this video to make these veneers as I believe it is the same as what is on my P24. Keep up the great work!
It's sad they don't use the embossed gold logo on the customs anymore, imagine those veneers with that gold logo!!!
🖤🖤🖤🤘
Not that general woodworking is a great mystery that can't be learned in books, Utube or even by formal instruction but it's nice that PRS goes out of their way to say, here is exactly how we do it right down to the end specs. Kind of like the anti-Gibson approach. Gibson wants to sue anything that has the same basic shape (which they didn't actually invent), PRS gives you the formula and if you're so inclined says go ahead a make a PRS style guitar and see if you can do it better. I think the philosophy goes back to a video I saw from Paul where he is showing the guitar he made in night school and it's the basic shape of an single cut. He looks right at the camera and goes, when you're starting out you build what you see...
Ok. My question is the acoustic series A have inlay on headstock or is sticker?
i toured in 2019 and they gave me one of the leftover edges of the veneers for free
My dream guitar but always dream xd
Sweet lady 🤓👍
That's so cool, I have a PRS early model s er. No. 7 2707 is that how my head was made? Thanks 👍
I have a '98 CU22. I don't have an inlay - my headstock is just one (center) piece of mahogany. And, it looks like gold inlay in my signature.
@@AndyK.23 Thanks, Mr K. Mine has 24 frets and has the same head you described , mahogany w/gold inlay David H. Ques. Did you ever reside in San Carlos ?
@@davidhealy7743 Nope, I'm an East Coast person!
@@AndyK.23 Mr Andy K , quite neighborly of you to reply. I appreciate that. I will look forward to your shared wisdoms. Thanks D. Healy
Bae.
The guitars without them look naked.. please bring them back on all models 😂
Wow, what a disappointment. I thought Paul signed all those by hand. 🙁
He signs and plays the private stock
First, I'll take my free 10 top now 😂
I'm not sure that's how that works... Let me check with Paul.
@@prsguitars What about first to comment with their PRS as their avatar... :D
I understand WHY the painted headstocks are no longer... but I wish it was at least an option. Some finishes just don't look right, IMO.
I hate that PRS uses plastic borders now for fretboard inlay. Also, even the strap lock they are using in new models are the cheaper ones that they use in S2. Even though guitar cost a lot more and no it is not all due to inflation. PRS. Love you guys but I was expecting more from my second core guitar.
I bought a silver sky SE aftermarket (because that’s the only way to get one these days) and turns out the middle pickup was bad in it. Called PRS to see if there was any way I could get a replacement and they told me it was $250+shipping to send it in for them to put a new pickup in it or kick rocks!!! I understand why warranty rules exist, but these guitars are pretty much unobtanium right now….sadge
I bought a core 594 and the split on front pickup didn’t work ( I never checked it before buying) and they also had the saddles installed wrong (I flipped them around, no biggie). BUT when I contacted them they said I am the one who did it, not them. What?
They also wanted to charge me to fix the split when it never worked and was a new guitar. They said either I wrecked it or the dealer did. I was shocked at the customer service, or lack of.
Great guitar, but I was disappointed with dealing with PRS themselves.

Did you buy it from a PRS dealer? I can't imagine PRS letting it out like that. They even check the SE guitars when they come in from China. I think somebody at the store messed with it.
Just put a Seymour Duncan pickup in there they make better pickups for a fraction of the cost.
What? You make the headstock veneers from your factory floor??
Ohhh… 😂
