Defo the best Sony cx450 review on the internet so far! It's funny and covered all the things I needed to know. The toilet roll moment got you the 'like' hahaha...Thx so much!
@@rogerclark5869 hi Roger. I am still using a cheap lapel Mic (little clip on) which I got from Amazon. And it came with the 3.5mm attachment. I also got a 3 meter extension lead. Just look for a 3.5mm smart phone compatible Mic and you should be good to go. Hope that helps 😁👍
😁 I must admit the zoom is quite impressive. But I must confess that I still use my phone for a majority of my videos unless I need to do multiple angles... or film my phone. But I think ill try and use it a bit more... just for the zoom 😁. Thanks for watching Sam 😁👍🏻
Thanks 😁. Now I've used them both I've noticed the camcorder is quite suseptable to workshop dust, so a little blow with the airline is sometimes needed. Also there are some issues with the sound on the camcorder.. think I need to do a follow up vid. Thanks for watching 😁👍.
For test purposes; I made short video clips with four prosumer devices available at my disposal at present. Those are a smart phone Samsung Galaxy A20, Panasonic Lumix GF5, Sony HDR-CX450 handycam and Canon EOS 70D. All the devices were installed on a video tripod before recording. Unsurprisingly, Canon 70D came out best with outstanding colors and pinpoint autofocus. Second surprise was the smart phone that produced the second-best video quality both in colors and autofocus. However, the frame shuttled little back and forth. Sony CX450 came out third in this competition. It’s a dedicated video camera likewise, I expected it to be second. Was not very happy with its colors and autofocus. Moreover, its stabilizer is not upto the mark. If recording is done handheld, the quality gets very poor even missing focus on the subject. Therefore, recording must be done installing the device on a steady tripod. I call its video quality average. Perhaps that is to be expected from an entry level handycam. And understandably Lumix came out fourth producing dull colors and very poor autofocus.
Hi Quazi 😁. No surprise that the Canon came out on top. I think this would be my first choice 😁.... if I could afford one 😔. If I ever use the Sony in the workshop I always try and mount it on a tripod... I seem to have more issues with the sound levels during post processing. Thanks for watching Quazi 😁👍
Thx for the review, can you see the screen in the sunlight as i struggled with a cheap canon model? Can you transfer the video to a smartphone via wifi?
Thanks for watching and the comment 😁. I have only really used mine in the workshop under LED lights and it's fine. But from what I remember from my initial review it was quite good outside. As far as file transfer, I have only ever transferred directly to the PC via cable or using the SD card so sorry I can't help any further. Thanks again for watching 😁👍
Hi Lewis 😁. I think if you are shooting outside or want to do some close up (zoomed in) shots then the quality is better than the S8. I have been using my S8 more as for general workshop video it is easier and the phone is less suseptable to sawdust than the camera. Also, the sound is slightly better with the phone as the auto level adjust is less noticeable. I hope that helps. 😁👍.
@@frankslittleworkshop great thank you, I use the phone for indoor use and it looks great, just wanting to look more professional and also make my videos better. Appreciate your time and advice🙂
Good review but CX 450 way more fun than the Samsung thingy I film with iPhone 13 and just bought a new cx450 for a great price saved upgrading my iPhone 👌😎☕️ regards Fred
Thank you Frank. I am a singersongwriter. I am going to buy the Sony. Want to use the extern mic port. Going in from my mixer or guitar amplifier, with a bit reverb on the signal. Hope this is gonna work.... I think so.
Hi Nico 😁. Thanks for your comment. I have not used the Mic input from an external source (I.e AMP or mixer etc) so don't know how this will behave. I've only used it with a lapel mic. I think there is some kind of auto adjustment on the audio recording level when you start recording so you may need to send an initial test sound before you start your final recording 🤔. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching Nick 😁👍.
Today got my Sony. Used my AER Compact Classic amp: here I can make my sound-signal and the gain. Went out from the amp in the external mic. Very good sound ! When I'm ready i'l let you hear, if you like.
@@nicomeijerink208 Sounds like that setup should work OK. I watched your turn turn turn cover video (Very good). Would be great to see and hear another video of one of your songs using the new setup 😁. Just re-comment on here if you do 😁. Thanks Nico and stay safe 😁👍
@@frankslittleworkshop Today I posted my second video: Change will come, with condensor mic, preamplifier for guitar, AER Compact guitaramplifier directly in the Sony CX450, no DAW. sound is pretty good I think.
😁 I agree the video is much better out in natural sun light. Sometimes its not so good under poor artificial light. And yes, the zoom is great 😁. Thanks for watching 😁👍
Thanks for this, i think i prefer the Samsung's video and sound. The camcorder is only better at zooming and stabilization, but the videos were kind of bad, and your forehead was a bit overexposed. I was thinking of buying the camcorder to support my canon 800D DSLR camera, but i think my Samsung S10 phone will do better than the camcorder
😁 Thanks Lugard. I must confess i still use my phone. As you say the Samsung video is not so good at zoom. But everything else it is more suited to how I use it 😁. Thanks for watching 😁👍
I was really impressed with the camcorder, that stabilisation and zoom were incredible
Imagine if it was 4k and had a hot/cold shoe

Thanks A.J 😁. Sorry for the late reply, I didn't see your comment 🙁. I had forgotten about the loo roll joke 😂🤣. Thanks again for watching 😁👍
Very informative. Thanks.
Thanks very much 😁. And thanks for watching 😁👍
Thanks for the video Just brought one off eBay very happy just need to sort out 🎙
Thanks Roger 😁. Hope it serves you well. Thanks for watching 😁👍
Frank Williams just one question please what sort of cable did you get for mic. It’s a mine field and were from.

Great comparison setup & editing Frank 👍
Thanks David 😁. I'm sure it could have been better, but I think it will do 😁. Thanks for watching, stay safe 😁👍
Great video 👍 think I’m gonna get one for the zoom alone

Thank you Stuart 😁. Your welcome. Thanks for watching 😁👍
Cheers Frank, considering buying the CX450 and this has been really helpful for me!
Thanks Corley 😁. Sorry for the delay with the reply .... only just seen your comment. Hope the content was of some use. 😁👍.
Wait, you can connect a mic to the camcorder?
It has touch screen?
Can I use external mic ?
Great tests Frank. I think it’s a good idea using both, as they each have their own strong points.

Frank Williams I think a follow up video is a good idea. I loved the zoom clarity, but I think the wide angle and colour was better on your phone.

Hello mate, is this worth getting for quality purposes? Would it be better than s8? Thanks

Try calling with a camcorder! Each device has its own purpose!🙂
Całkowicie pozbawiony sensu test. Dlaczego testujesz w telefonie kamerę do selfie zamiast prawdziwej, z tyłu aparatu???
