As a 405 owner, I love mine and have no problems with it. Audio is just fine and the video quality is great. Is the audio studio quality? No. Is it acceptable? Absolutely. None of these cams are made for professional production. They're made for " home movies"...and for that, they're perfectly fine.
Yes, why use 50i an produce more artifacts when you have 50p. And it was always my concern - why can't I choose between NTSC and PAL, when I can do it in most of photocameras while filming???
Really great comparison and you covered all the real world scenarios we’d likely be working with. I really think the CX405 could be good enough for me because I just need casual footage of my music performances and the audio would come from a mixer feed to a Zoom recorder that I would sync in Final Cut. I just wish it supported extended batteries because the battery life isn’t long enough for my purpose. And plugging it into a wall isn’t always practical.
Even though there is no external mic input, the CX405 seems to cut out the most noise. I assume a harsh wind test would not be too useful as it would likely do the same thing to all three built-in mics.
That was very good Sir. Thankyou. I don't know about the 820E, but the 625 has an external mic input, which is of considerable benefit, and audio input level graphics display too. Kind regards.
External audio recording is preferred with budget cameras. Even a decent mic plugged into a cell phone is better than using these cameras audio recording options. And, it can offer more versatility to not be tethered to the camera itself. The CX405's lack of mic input is not an issue at all. In fact, it steers videographers to record audio the external correct way. Syncing audio these days is easy.
pj820 has the better sound ,as for the stabilization are you sure the built in gimbal is on as its normally much smoother. cx405 audio is terrible, sonys cheaper cx240e has better audio than the 405 ,as for the video quality theres something wrong with all the cams video compression and frame rate mismatch probably caused by the editing software not selecting the project frame rate before adding video so its hard to comment on the videos on the panning shots due to mismatch frame rate of the original footage from camcorder. rule of thumb always keep the same frame rate of the original video to match the editing software timeline or your end up with jerky movements while panning
panoramic shooting is not recommended on all video cameras, if you have to do it it must be done very very slowly. Then you have to do some tests choosing the right shutter speed, in this way you can decrease the defect.
I have one, it’s great with video, but with audio, it’s limited. The only settings on it are Wind Reduction, and Audio Mic Recording Level. still, it’s good for a budget camcorder.
Since most people trying to produce anything decent with a budget camcorder like these would record external audio on a smart phone or zoom audio recorder, the audio advantage of the CX405's built in mic is negated. And, the audio inputs on the other two are not relevant either. So, it comes down to image quality and color reproduction. CX405 wins there also. Especially if you record in the XAVC format at 60fps. This is one of the rare times that the cheapest option is the clear winner. Also, there is absolutely no reason to pay for adobe premiere subscriptions anymore. Davinci Resolve is way more powerful, just as easy to use, and free.
One thing I hate about Sony camcorder I had about 5 or 6 their alway a few thing it could be better, not sharp enough and hate the avc format can't get to work with wd player, Panasonic has the sharpness, zoom but their ois could be better. Think I better stay with action sealed camera. Too humid here and they fail too much, .my 3 are all not starting, not used almost a yr
Love how the 405 has the best motion/movement, but more washed out. Excellent video thanks 👍
Sir, this was the most perfect comparison video I have ever seen on this platform. Hats off to you!

I just bought the 405 and plan on using a wireless mic. It is a perfect compact traveling camera. Great comparison video 👏🏼👍👏🏼
how do i can connect the wireless mic please? there is a function on the video camera?
Would like to see same test but with camcorders set to XAVCS and 50p. AVCHD is old and quite bad format to use. Same goes to 50i :)

CX 405 has built in wind noise reduction in camera settings menu.
@@stoneyrunva from what i heard that setting doesn't really work
cx405 best microphone. Noise cancellation is there. Other 2 are crap noisy.
so cx405 good for educational video , and other 2 good for natural video

Panning extremely too fast , kills the image quality in all 3 cameras

All did a great job. The zoom is a factor as well.
i think that cx 405 has the best audio
you panned and pushed in too fast for each camera sensor making a lot of the footage blurry
Why my CX450 in simmilar lighting conditions has "jerky" movements whilst panning. Is it stabilisation?

Excellent testing.
Are the pictures of these so bad, or does the picture quality deteriorate when uploaded?if I stop the video, the moving things are ghostly....
awesome test. Good work.
I just got the 405, but now the 625 is looking really good to me😤
But the 625 is a lot more expensive, so be happy fellow cx405 owner.
Sir Is the cx625 the same as the cx675 other than the cx625 doesn't have internal memory?

G'day fellow Sydneysider, great video test of all three camcorders. Peace out.
I think it should be possible to add external mic input to the 405... any one has ever tried this?
why doesn't the format fill the screen?
Think go with cx405 next purchase
Seems to me if you have a grip the CX625 wins
Is that Sydney?
very helpfull, thank you
wtf on cx 405 audio - low on settings???
its a budget camcorder so even though it may have higher resolution than some older sony camcorders, it has less features.
@@NirnBootMod I find it weird actually. I have one and I use it frequently, the audio is much better than that. Pretty much the same as the PJ820E.

Call me a caveman, but I'm really not seeing much difference between them. The audio, however, is vastly different.
Yeah, the 405 has better audio to me as it has more noise cancellation, so the sound is crisp and clear...
