Its amazing how good Splatoon 2 is considering how terrible it is. Most the maps are trash. Map rotation is trash. Online match making is trash. X rank power is trash. There are a ton of bad things in this game that need to be fixed and i still love it and cant stop playing it. Imagine if the game had good maps and the online worked
Hear me out, in comp I understand when a tier list like this makes sense. I understand when you definitely don’t want to play with these maps when they are in rotation. Though in soloq I always enjoy playing arowana clams because I always perform good. I think that maps you like better, you will play better. At least that’s how it is for me and I understand everyone is different
there’s something about piranha pit rainmaker that i just love, it feels so different and so similar at the same time. also the old spawn areas just being pointless turf feels neat
Rainmaker reef is either last for 5 minuets and is a game of stalling, or it ends in one push. Very few things here can really ALWAYS apply to soloque, but this is one of them.
the only thing i really disagree on is clams moray because the spawn is so far away from the basket that it becomes impossible to play it without beacons, the clams are very close to mid and the basket which encourages camping, and there’s nowhere to run in case of any special whatsoever at least that’s my experience with it in solo q
Video idea: take the third kits from each weapon in both games and make it a big "would you rather" video. Ex/ Splatoon 1 Bamboo Mk3 vs Splatoon 2 Bamboo Mk3, Berry Splattershot Pro vs Kensa Splattershot Pro, etc
You know a map-mode is trash when you completely rely on missiles and ray to do anything, and generally when one team can make the objective unapproachable Also awesome video, i had little to no complains, all things said make perfect sense and couldn't agree more
i get why theyre hated, but walleye and arowana will probably always be my favorite maps just for nostalgia(also hoping saltspray comes back for 3 because its another one of my favorites, i love the claustrophobic maps)
Honestly, as someone who almost exclusively plays turf war, I’d love to hear those opinions on it, good or bad. If you’ve already done that, sorry, I’m sure someone will leave a link.
How about ranking all the songs too? might be a stretch because there are quite a few songs, but i'd love to see it! Anyone else out there want to see it🤔
Ink armor is more trouble than it's worth on triggerfish tower control cause even the teeniest tiniest explosion will send you hurtling off the tower because of the recoil 🤦♂
Most of what I’m upset about here is because I’m nostalgic for splat 1 stages but main stage clams I think is pretty good. You have multiple options to get to the basket, mid fights have varied angles… I like it.
when I first played Splatoon 2 at launch, the first thing that came to my mind was: "why are the maps so small?" thats the issue, the whole map is just a small path to mid, and thats awful.
I personally would put Inkademy RM in F because the RM carrier going up top when the other team has the lead is so hard of a throw that it shouldn't be possible.
It's so nice to hear a detailed explanation/opinion on why the maps/modes I've always strongly disliked are actually bad! Very refreshing. (really hoping walleye doesn't come back, at least without an overhaul)
I think some maps could be gimmiky to spice things up and get interesting situation to adapt to. Said that, gimmick doesn't mean good maps. For skill competitiveness, you need balanced map and fairness. Gimmick can be good to spice things up, makes stuff random, interesting or a cool situation to try to adapt to, but randomness ins't fair and isn't balanced. I hope in splatoon 3, they make a better job in making things both interesting and FAIR at the same time (really hard to do).
I find Port Clams and Rain to be a dumb kinda fun personally. Also I can't any Zones map, in general really, but especially those that have two zones on them. I hate them so much and I usually don't play zones at all when it's on for soloq, but especially if a map I really hate also has two zones I just won't play it I hate it so much
Yes pls I'd love to see this for Splatoon 1, I never had a Wii U so I never played it but I'm massively interested in the game, and I love to find out about it's history and meta and stuff. Any videos like that discussing Splatoon 1 are heavily enjoyed by me!!
Skipper Pavillion and Goby Arena are my two least favorite maps Goby is just so damn cramped and if you Solo Q, getting mid control back once you've lost it isn't going to happen because it requires too much coordination and the map is so small that your teammates will end up getting picked off when approaching center. Skipper sucks because the map is huge, segregated, and once you take mid theres so many defensive positions that again, its almost impossible to retake without a considerable amount of team coordination, which just isn't going to happen in Solo Q.
Rainmaker on kelp dome is honestly where kelp dome becomes a good stage but the stage itself still sucks especially on zones and good luck trying to be a charger on that map
Please dev team… please make Splatoon 3 maps dedicated to only one game mode so that they bring out the best of each mode. Quality over quantity! It would even give them more time and resources to be able to make new stages rather than modifying each stage to accommodate 5(+) game modes.
Splatoon 3 needs a new ability called Jump+ or Jump Boost or something where it increases your jump height and distance it could also be used to increase the distance of a squid surge or maybe even a dualie roll Posting this until Nintendo sees
nah, the community is simply tired of Splatoon 2 and want to jump to Splatoon 3 ASAP. The community used to feel the same way about Splatoon 1 back in 2017
Funny how some of the worse maps in the game are gr8 for tent lol, such as triggerfish, port, arowana and walleye(clams), Also speaking of triggerfish zones, ik it has many flaws, but i absolutely love it's gimmick of having to split your team in two and push zones in duos, i fucking love that
It says a lot that in the Splatoon 1 list, anything above C tier is at least okay, and in the Splatoon 2 list it takes S-tier to get to the same point of quality. On the other hand, Splatoon 1 also had some map/modes that are genuinely worse than anything Splatoon 2 did.
Hey, don't diss my boy Walleye, it's not all THAT bad. It's the smallest, tightest, most commital and fastest-paced map in the game, you have to either win or not-lose the rollout if you don't want to just straight lose, and you have to chose which one you go with beforehand and stick with it because otherwise you, again, lose. Love me a good rollout, and "lockdown" aka built-in lose condition just makes another attempt at a more successful rollout come quicker. In a game where you can't have something that can charge a special in literally 8 seconds and walk into pristine mid with it it's a great Zones map. Unfortunately you can have a 8-second special and can farm further past that fishing for an easy wipe, even with Walleye's tiny size. And it also has Goby's one mode syndrome because everything else goes through a hellish choke (though at least in CB basket is in the choke so you can disengage quickly). Goby not-Zones are possibly the least playable maps overall, they are completely dysfunctional. Worse than Arowana I'd say. Arowana RM and TC are at least functional-ish before reaching the courtyard choke (and can be reasonably kept from ever reaching it) and CB plat isn't even THAT bad (just bad), while Goby's death cage is literally 1 second walking distance from the center of the map. Arowana is still F-tier but Goby is even F-er.
@@ProChara I like not having to change my weapon just to play on one map, especially when the map is as terrible as Camp Triggerfish. I like maps that are balanced for all weapons and even the worst of Splatoon 3's maps didn't drop the ball THAT hard. Not even Mincemeat or new Mahi.
Wait, what's the problem with the tower "moving away from spawn?" Is it because you would have to move a longer distance when you get splatted or something?
It breaks the pace of Tower Control. On a good Tower Control map, the tower would move closer to spawn, making it harder the closer you are to the goal. With maps like Kelp Dome and Blackbelly Skatepark, the tower can become *easier* to control and you can gain free points, which is totally unfair and doesn’t have that “harder to push the farther you go” feeling. Hope this helps 😊
0:07 I wonder if this is why I cannot pick a favorite map in Splatoon 2 for the life of me. I play exclusively Turf Wars, and I don't really have any opinion on any of them (okay, maybe a few bad ones on Inkblot cuz of a few bad memories), so I guess the reason is that they're all mediocre to begin with.
i asked my friend who is french and they said that Encre means ink, and pot is just something you put things in. It's also a play on the word Entrepot, which means warehouse
I disagree on blackbelly zones and RM It's feels like aids to move in center let alone fight. Making it more Viable to throw a bomb at your feet and dance around that trying to aim in those cramped spaces. The spawn area is ok. (I'm aware that my problems are fixed by positioning better but I want to have more options to move than going ontop of the center tower or poking from the side.) edit: everything A tier or bellow is ass to play on (except ancho but that may be more of me being a L3 and squeezer player) also manta zones. still the fact that only 16-20 of the 92 map modes are remotely fun to play on is dumb.

F Tier = “Fun”, and Nintendo knows this because these map/modes are literally always in rotation 😐

A - 18 maps
B - 10 maps
C - 10 maps
D - 22 maps
F - 16 maps
Overall (Average) grade for splatoon 2 map selection: B
perecentage of "playable" maps (B or above) = 47.8%
14 out of the 23 stages have at least one playable mode:
Ancho-v-games
Piranha Pit
Mako Mart
The Reef
Sturgeon shipyard
Manta Maria
Starfish mainstage
Skipper Pavilion
Blackbelly skatepark
New Albacore hotel
Humpback pump track
Snapper Canal
Inkblot art academy
Shellendorf institute
No. of times a mode has appaered in B tier or higher:
Rainmaker: 7 (Lowest)
Tower control: 10
Clam Blitz: 10
Splat Zones: 17 (Highest)
ik this is late but how did you calculate this?
@@mang0_p I assigned each rank A number (X = 1, S = 2 etc.)
And then I did my math based on this principle.
Best is easily camp triggerfish tower control. Nothing even comes close to that perfection.
Booyah bomb moment
Ocean moment
Splashdown while riding tower moment
cheese moment
Stingray go brrrr
In S3 stages shouldn't have to be designed fully for evey mode but there should be a pb setting that allows you to play on every map mode combo
