Thank you for these videos learning more and more as I watch ,I'm going on a 2 day hike with my son on the 21st of this month gonna take this recipe up there .thanks a big fan .mt baldy hiker..
Some of these meals are great when you're further into your trip, especially when you've gotten into a rhythm. They add variety both in terms of eating experience as well as having a new activity to add to your daily routine.
We love your meals! This is a great one. When doing any of these cream/sauce type foods I often add nutritional yeast for the creaminess, protein content and savory flavor profile.
Fun options. Really cool for a short trip and I think it's particularly interesting for car campers who do have some access to refrigeration and don't need to be so weight concerned. But one of the major hidden costs in this is going to be fuel consumption. You're going to use so much more fuel cooking like this than boiling and shutting off your stove. Probably not for extended trips.
Love your recipes! We love your approach to backpacking recipes. We never ever bought prepackaged meals. But our repertoire was a little limited. We’ve taken many of your ideas and added them to our plans. We were so happy to find your channel!
The funny thing is that I actually enjoy a lot of the freeze dried meals well most of them lol. An I do eat good and healthy food on my day to day life.
Wow, that looks delicious! I wish the company that made Meat Shredz pork, also made a beef version. Meantime, I would love to see what you can do with the Pork Meat Shredz. I love it straight up, dry, right out of the package or rehydrated for a sandwich or burrito. If they can figure out a beef version, it would be awesome!
@8:30 just causally pouring boiling water into packet while holding the bottom. . . Little to no fear in doing that, yeah you can tell he's been a chef for awhile.
Hello! I recently found this channel and love this series. I am preparing for a thru hike of the AT in 2023 and will be trying some of these recipes during my prep hikes. I have a question though. What is that pot size your using in these videos? It looks pretty large for a thru hike.
Excellent idea here, guys. I like the idea that you can control what goes into the meal, and up the beef, or up the mushrooms, etc. I mean the dehydrated meals are darned clever and have been for some time now, but the companies have to sell at a reasonable price and make a profit, so they can't include a lot of the protein component (beef, cheese, etc). So I do like the chefs idea here.
I would think you can prepare this meal similar to packaged meal, boil the water first, then add ingredients stir a few times over 15ish minutes and let it rehydrate and cook with residual heat from boiling water. Would that work?
Eric is just a super knowledgeable dude who you want to sit down and have a beer with. Once again, thanks for the (surprisingly high quality) content. Also your Instagram, Twitter and Facebook links in the description don’t work. Would love to give you a follow! Edit: I see the links work in your channel About page, but all your recent videos’ descriptions links are broken.
Sorry.....But I'd much sooner cook my own from scratch than buy store brought. It's half the fun and enjoyment in preparing it, then, the satisfaction of knowing you've cooked it yourself xXx
You keep saying dehydrated meal over and over again. Do you actually mean freeze dried meal? Or is it really dehydrated? They are two COMPLETELY different things and so I’m struggling to understand what you mean.

The chef said the Dijon mustard was left over from his HelloFresh package. Thought it strange that a trained chef uses a package food service. Haha!
The last video I watched about cooking made me think of the classic beef Stroganoff!!!! Amazing!! thanks Guys!

Sounds great and I look forward to trying it, this summer! Another great video!
Thank you so much!
I love this, thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the tips, purchased both the books after watching this and the previous video. Can't beat good food with few steps while camping.
Thank you will be trying the recipe and looking into recipes. Great videos on kit extra.
Peak refuel is pretty good! It’s pretty high in calories but it’s still pretty decent for a hot meal!

Just did this in my kitchen, dang good. TY
This is awesome stuff!!
Thank you!
Yum. I love this. Gonna buy the cook book. I will some Unami powder
add a little cornstarch to the bag for more creamy

Watching them share a bowl during Covid times … I love it ;-)
I think I would add some powdered sour cream and black pepper to finish it off.

There's a lot of room to control your diet for much less money if you're willing to!
What is Chef Corso's preferred stove?
Nice! Thanks for sharing 🙂

one nice trick is dollar tree carries smaller bags of beef jerky for 1.25
I’m doing this.
nice job
Thank you!

What did you do for sour cream?
Milk powder and Dijon mustard for acidity
How do I get your book?
Ten bucks / pack @ REI, plus tax. Enough for one. Good but spendy. Am making my own at home these days and upgrading my gear with the savings.
Yeah that stroganofff was good
When we go into the Boundary Waters, we usually cosy our homemade dehydrated meals to save on fuel...either single packets or pot.
Sounds smart!

Add some olive oil for more calories
Looks great but that takes a lot of fuel.
More than boil and eat, yes. But it wasn't crazy.
he's a chef, but subscribes to Hello Fresh...
Beef jerky rehydrates but it loses it's flavor.
Watch out for them bigfoot.
