If I went backpacking 🎒 with her and her friends, I could see news reports now . Backpacker gains 20 lbs on trail ? You know her friends love her 💕 She's a food genius. Thanks for sharing your awesome 👌 👏 👍
How lovely to click on a random video and discover Aussie scenery - how much more wonderful to watch you shopping at local stores and using locally available supplies! A wonderful antidote to the endless stream of American hiking content.
I’ve watched a lot of videos for dehydrated food for backpackers but most of them are for specific meals that I would never eat or the production quality is very low. This video is by far the best I’ve come across for backpackers. Well done and thank you! Subscribed.
Two words. Amazingly brilliant. This must have taken a great deal of time in research, sourcing, ordering, purchasing, cooking, drying, division, packing, sealing, planning meals for the trek, boxing and delivery. You need a medal! Well done Frenchy. 👍🏻🙏🏽🦘
I have been dehydrating foods for camping and kayak touring for years, but you have given me some great ideas. Just in time for preparing for a 5 day bikepacking trip. 👍😀
i've recently invested in a dehydrator due to my work having weird hours, no access to a fridge, and only having access to a kettle, this video was so helpful and informative
I am getting ready for a trip and have been watching dehydrated recipe videos for inspiration. This has been one of my favorites so far! So informative. I really admire the way in which you broke everything down, the quality of footage, your sweet voice explaining everything, and all of the recipes with reviews. Really helpful and well done! Thank you.
Stephy, I don't know about all this Hiking ,but your Food is super especially for old Coot like me, sure beats the hell out of the burnt offerings I get now from Dear old Mums cooking, ( mind you the poor old Buggar is 100 years old ) and still thinks she is Queen Bee. AU
Excellent video. I’m too old and lazy for hiking and such but as a prepper these a great ideas of meals to have on hand. Great tip of using the tiny mylar bags for your oils, etc. I dehydrate my white rice and various types of pastas so if necessary it just hydrates without having to use fuel to cook, extra water to cook and then drain. All my veggies, pastas and rice hydrate well with cold water. I put my dried stuff in the cheap brown paper lunch bags to help with the sharp edges too before using the food saver bags.
Thank you. Freeze dry food would be the way to go. Can be kept up to 20 years. Unfortunately the machine is very big and expensive compared to a food dehydrator. But one day hopefully.
Thats worth at least one Michelin star....probably another for good measure. Frenchie may be tempted to have a go at Australian frogs legs for a snak....just keep in mind that many of them are poisonous. You should be able to squash a few with the Rover once you get further East....those are cane toads and a real pest. The good thing about them is if you hit them at the right angle on the road they make a delightful popping sound.
Nothing can beat a good homemade recipe when you're out in nature! It's indeed a lot of work, but it's well worth it. I've been using my Excalibur 9 trays for 2 years and I use it regularly. I love preparing my own meals for camping trips, hiking and even for storage at home. Always handy to have ready ingredients on hand. I store my ingredients in Mason jars, from which I have removed the air with a device designed for this purpose. Then I just have to take what I need to concoct a recipe. I seal the jars again for better conservation.
Great video, efforts to prepare all the stuff and taking enough time to explain how to do it. Thank you for all that.Definetelly will do some of those things some day soon. Cheers from Bulgaria :)
Easily the best video I’ve seen on dehydrating. I keep buying prepackaged meals and I hate it. I’d love to follow your recipes. Do you have them published anywhere? Also, any idea how long your vacuum-sealed foods will last? Thanks for taking the time.
You're so sweet... As your husband :) Btw you should cut the vacuum bags bigger than needed and reuse them several times. It doesn't weight that much more and you probably are into environmental stuff... So do it - safe money and nature :) Ps. also the small bags you may do with the vacuum machine...
I am truly amazed by your almost pathologic talent, at some point, I assume, Leigh thought about turning himself into a Mummy. If my Grandma ever gets to watch this episode, she would approve your cooking abilities in a heart beat. From a very messy (not that Messi) person, this was a delight to watch. ¡¡PURA VIDA!!
So much thought and preparation in having awesome looking meals. Great job on all the planning and again for completing the hike. Stay safe and healthy.
Bonne semaine !
Awesome, will 100% be trying some of these. Growing up and going hiking with the family biltong was the snack of choice, all the goodness of the meat without the weight.
With every new video Frenchy is hitting out of the park. This is out of this world. I know I am going to use some of the things on my next over-landing trip specially the milk powder and other powder options. Thanks.
This was truly great information, thank you! I am just now getting interested in dehydrating and packing my own meals as you did in the video, and I've learned some new things along with recipes. Awesome! Greetings from Phoenix, Arizona US ❤
Stephy, what remarkable strategy and planning you had in preparing dehydrated meals for your mamouth trek - added to your filming at every stage from raw veggies to hot meals, such dedication and professionalism. Many Thanks for sharing and all the best for your ongoing adventures in Australia, greetings from Alec & Jan.
@@GrizzlyNbearOverland well our Landy is currently residing in France on the farm of Sebastien Land-Vintage. He helped us move it from our house we're selling in Germany, but it only reached his farm due to unforseen circumstances. So now Charles is waiting for the opportune time for it to arrive in England, where we're trying to move back to too.
This has got to be one of your best videos. Very informative and answered a lot of my questions. Very well done you two. You two make a great team. Continue to adventure and keep the videos coming. Very well done.

You’re awesome! What a great video. Nice to see someone who loves food do a camping food prep video. Proves it doesn’t have to be basic starchy or bland. Thank you. I want to go camping with you😊
We have been doing this to prepare our emergency food supplies and bug out bags as well. We vacuum seal the meals. So many things you can do with food dehydration.
your channel is amazing! when notifications for your videos arrive, I'm happy because I know you're dedicated to showing the best to your followers! keep this humility and God will give you a great reward and put you in a place that many did not believe you would reach. A tip to get healthy animal fat: rendered tallow, it doesnt go bad easily. And can really add caloric value
She's a keeper, tortilla right on the wooden picnic table. Baller
This is the first dehydrator video I've seen with proper meals
They look great .

I just bought a food dehydrator because I want to experiment with weird ways to expand my cooking, this gave me so many ideas!
This is my favorite recipe, you can change it in so many ways ua-cam.com/video/54wT_P3Zflg/v-deo.html
Yeeeeaahhh!!! Thursdays are back!!!
Ha. Made a mistake in the schedule 😆 was supposed to come out 5pm here . And I did 6am instead.
Thanks for all the meal preps. This would also serve you well if you just wanted to prep food to have on hand for emergencies.

We love biltong but in Australia it’s really pricey (to bring for a multiple day) we treat ourselves sometimes. The best we had was in South Africa.
@@GrizzlyNbearOverland Very true if buying, you need to be making your own
Awesome! Very useful tips. Your best! You should have your own TV show! I alwasy knew that you are an awesome chef! Merci!
Excellent, Stephy, you are an off-road master chef!! You really are of a big help to all of us, thank you!

Stephie's Astronaut rations! Love my dehydrator. did loads of wild mushrooms and stuff from the garden this year. Hope you guys are well.
Mushrooms are the best thing to dehydrate I reckon. 😀
