I had the opportunity to meet John Williams once and asked him to sign the original Warner Bros CD of the score to which he said "gosh I didn't think anyone remembered this score!". It was an awesome experience.
It's always great to find people who have met geniuses like John Williams :) In what years did this happen? How did you manage to meet him? What was it like?
My esteem and admiration of John Williams is way, way up there along with fellow 20th Century composers Rachmaninov and Puccini. Obviously this poem on Fame doesn't apply to one whose world-wide fame boggles the mind. But Mr. Williams' words about "courting the muse" and not chasing after and groping for those Just Right notes but letting them come to him. I thought I might offer here John Keats poem On Fame: Fame, like a wayward girl, will still be coy/ To those who woo her with too slavish knees/But makes surrender to some thoughtless boy/And dotes the more upon a heart at ease/She is a gypsy, will not speak to those/ Who have not learnt to be content without her/ A jilt, whose ear was never whispered close/ Who thinks they scandal her who talk about her/A very gipsy is she, Nilus-born/Sister-in-law to jealous Potiphar/ Ye love-sick bards! repay her scorn for scorn/ Ye artists lovelorn! madmen that ye are/ Make your best bow to her and bid adieu-Then if she likes it, she will follow you. By John Keats
Accidental Tourist is a beautiful movie that sadly seems to have faded into obscurity. Also noteworthy for Geena Davis winning an Oscar for her important supporting role.

This man’s music has nourished my soul for decades. Happy 90th birthday and many more, sir ❤
Awwww he opens this playing one of my favorites, the theme from The Accidental Tourist
It's encouraging to see that even a genius like John Williams will sometimes sigh with exasperation at the difficulty of composing music.
The highest musical erudition & etherial expression of any musician in history. Master.
Wish there were more recordings of JW playing his music on the piano. It's such an inspiration!
In fact he should release an album like that.
John Williams could've and should've won an Oscar for every score he wrote between 1975 and 1993.
At the end of the video they said he was facing his 18th Oscar nomination. Now in 2024, he’s got 53 nominations. Spectacular, truly spectacular.
I love the manuscript papers of John Williams always Big.
I wish to have this video

I Believe This Was A Video Clip Of NBC News' Today's Entertainment News Report On Composer John Williams On Monday Morning, March 27, 1989.

@majin2912 - this would be the same album I'd want him to sign as well, more so than Star Wars, Superman, etc...
I'd rather just hear John Williams play the piano while Gene Shalit just sits there quietly and listens...
We need a whole UA-cam channel devoted to Gene Shalit listening to John Williams play the piano.
Poor Johnny, he has to put up with that guy's hideous 'porn-stache'.
