@@cinemascore-along I guess it depends on which Pirates of the Caribbean movie we're talking about. I was humming a Hans Zimmer creation for sure though.
@@cinemascore-along ua-cam.com/video/nbiKV4prSqI/v-deo.html Parts of these I've been humming, I cannot stop listening to it. If it's not originally written by Zimmer, then my mistake, sorry. :)
Absolute legend. I consider him the greatest musical mind alive now. Not that my opinion matters but he is absolutley the best composer of my lifetime and I appreciate his every contribution.
Fun fact - John Williams son wrote the English lyrics to The return of the Jedi composition lapti nek. It was later turned to the made-up language Burgess, but it was originally written in English.
John Williams is one of the greatest composers in the world. When George Lucas worked on the original SW Trilogy, he needed a composer who could provide him with that classical score. Thanks to George’s friend, Steven Spielberg he told him “The guy you gotta to is John Williams. He did “Jaws”, they loved him. You gotta talk to him.“And so he did.
Let me just say, to whomever edited this footage, thank you very much for editing out that part in the beginning where the show presented John William's music for the Star Wars franchise. All of us who clicked on this video have probably heard his themes a million times; we are more interested in hearing the Maestro (as you call him) talk about his craft. I mean, just look at his face as the reporter is giving the obligatory introduction describing all of his famous works. He's probably thinking "Yeah, yeah, yeah...that's why I don't like giving interviews, because I have to sit through this same crap time after time after time after time. EDIT: That was one quirk I hadn't heard about before; his habit of calling his acquaintances baby.
The reason I edited the PBS collage of his themes was more out of fear the video would be get a DMCA and taken down. But, yeah the little intro of music we've heard a million times is a bit much.
Such a genius! I used to take band in middle school, & my teacher had us play his music a lot. He said he knew John, & he must've mentioned that at least once every class lol!
Williams really made Star Wars. I mean imagine if Star Trek had that kind of theme music -- Trek would be an undisputed #1 with Star Wars bringing up the rear.
Star Trek's first movie had music by Jerry Goldsmith, man. One of the greatest film scores ever written, and the main theme is BETTER than the Star Wars theme. The Ilia theme is as beautiful as any love theme Williams ever wrote, and the Klingon Battle music is among the greatest musical sci-fi action sequences ever, right up there with Williams' asteroid field and Hoth battle music. Williams is a living legend, but Star Trek did just fine without him.
John Williams, in my opinion, wipes the floor with Mozart. Mozart perhaps were the bigger genius, but John Williams' music is so much more captivating.
michael bay, in my opinion, wipes the floor with Shakespeare. Shakespeare perhaps was the bigger genius, but Mike Bay's works are much more captivating.
Well.. First of all your comparing a trail blazer to a different type of trail blazer. But the special thing about John is he is able to look at a scene, grasp the emotion, and translate that into a note on a sheet,.. Its an art very very few have...
Where's the host's accent from? Reminds me of a southern accent, it's kind of stronger, not something I'm used to hearing on TV (I'm a non-native speaker)
I've been listening to TFA nonstop for 3 weeks, and it's absolutely brilliant. Not only do you have some powerful new strength themes like the March of the resistance and the incredibly dark and bold Kylo Ren theme, you also have the masterpiece that is Reys theme which John William even plays on top of the force theme at one point and it goes perfectly!
A somewhat interesting video, but mostly it's just a mutual admiration society where everyone is falling over themselves to pay praise to others. There's nothing wrong with that per se, they are all praiseworthy people for sure, but there really wasn't a whole lot to be learned here.
Haha yeah kind of. I understand their reasons though. JJ is huge fan of Star Wars and Williams' work. And Williams wants to be polite and probably also think JJ is a nice person and is good at what he does.
I disagree. His talk about the composition process that went into this film and how he prefers to compose the finale and then write the rest and the scheduling for the score were very interesting, I thought.
Also, his opening up about him as a composer and being humble and talking about his successes and failures really made me impressed with him as a musician and a person.
When people say the "Star Wars" films they mean the saga films, Episodes 1-8, so he has composed the music for every "Star Wars". But not every Star Wars.
wow just when you thought you couldn't love Mr. Williams more, it turns out not only is he talented but a very nice and funny man.
I totally agree
John Williams is an international treasure!!
He’s a global treasure
Treasure in the Universe. Let him live longer.
The best film composer of all time.
Hans Zimmer. I love Williams, but Zimmer gives me goosebumps much more often.
E. H. Try humming a Zimmer tune
reservoirfrog1 Done. Passengers on the tram were sure pleased to hear me hum Pirates of the Caribbean. :D Now what?

John Williams, arguably the greatest composer alive today. Bravo John!

A legend
Rebphoenix No, it's The Legend
What a guy. This man has shaped my life and songwriting in more ways than I can describe. Everyday I am sure that one of his themes is in my head.
ET is still one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard in my life, unreal emotion
Fun fact - John Williams' son is a member of the pop/rock group Toto.
Wow, thanks for this info I didn't even know that, thats amazing and it explains the quality production of this band for sure :)

Also Joseph sang on Lion king , Gummie bears theme tune , plus alot more
The greatest living composer on the planet and a genuinely good person. This wasn't an interview, this was a great conversation between 2 friends
Learning the tricks of the trade. Start composing the finale first 12:35
I noted that too.
navidhendrix I had no idea he also worked like that. When I write music I always start with the main bit, then work my way in and out.
Look how he respects the interviewer, hes such a legend, a real gentlemen, long live john williams ! Star Wars is nothing without you
He's the greatest ever.
Such a great interview. You can tell that guy has so much respect for John and his music.
This interview is really deep-delving; brilliant look into a brilliant guy!
He describes Mozart, Beethoven and Bach as "the greatest organizers of sound we ever had". Well said
great interviewer, john williams is great. thank you for sharing the greatness

He's my favorite American born composer. I love everything he does.
John Williams music in Star Wars is the bridge between the childhood nature of the story and the continuing adult appeal of the saga

Such a amazing man
that's the most awesome accent ever!!!!😂😂😂
JW: "JJbaby do we dare to put the Imperial march there?"
JJ:"John, did noone tell you this whole movie is just one big callback?"

Nah. The same music wouldn't work for star trek.

@@MiloDC no way the Star Trek theme is better. Star Wars theme is unmatched and iconic
"Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, the greatest orginizers of sounds" nice way to say it!

Probably, there are spies of the first order :)))
Modern day Mozart

When he says ".. Along with Carrie.. Survivors from the original.. " ... :(
Boochi Man may the force be with Carrie.
he called daisy ridley stacey! :-D
Good interviewer
I skipped the JJ Abrams part
John Williams, in my opinion, wipes the floor with Mozart. Mozart perhaps were the bigger genius, but John Williams' music is so much more captivating.
Marius i love JW but you have to consider that a lot of his work for the film insdustry is derivative of classic pieces, including mozart's
maybe you can check dvorak - new world symphony 4th movement and think about the "jaws"
Careful Marius - I'm not a classical music fanatic but I have a feeling you are opening Pandora's box here with this comment
michael bay, in my opinion, wipes the floor with Shakespeare. Shakespeare perhaps was the bigger genius, but Mike Bay's works are much more captivating.

William's, Bach, Radiohead: Them's the best composers.
I find the Home Alone music iconic, nostalgic and even cathartic.. John Williams is the shit..
Yes johnny, we dare
ET is his far best ever in his history
Keith Kemper my favorite score from Williams.
Where's the host's accent from? Reminds me of a southern accent, it's kind of stronger, not something I'm used to hearing on TV (I'm a non-native speaker)
Wait a goddamn moment here, did John Williams say Han Solo has a theme?
Brain fart. He's old.
so john and george were not sure about a sequel after a new hope?
They thought it will fail.
@@Сайтамен its good it became a box office hit
why did you edit the clips ouit?
Two of my favourite Williams scores had nothing to do with Spielberg or Lucas, Born on The Fourth of July and JFK
"Maybe do a better job" No disrespect to Mr. Williams, but i think that statement is debatable. I felt TFA music was a little lacklustre.
lol so you are one of those guys.
Lol, what's that supposed to mean? Yeah, i'm "one of those guys" who thought ep.7 had lacklustre music. Problem?
lol no problem at all, kiddo. Go play your videogame and let the adults appreciate Williams' work.

Nah, TFA has the best character theme since Vader's "Imperial March" and that is "Rey's Theme".
I love John Williams but my all time favorite is Hans Zimmer
Too bad he was wasted on a JJ Abrahms movie

3:45 John Williams is better at his work than you at yours.
To be fair, I’m sure he’d agree.
he didn't compose EVERY Star Wars film. Didn't do the Clone Wars animated film.
The what?
The film that should not be named :P WHY on earth did they decide to make that train wreck Canon....
When people say the "Star Wars" films they mean the saga films, Episodes 1-8, so he has composed the music for every "Star Wars". But not every Star Wars.
I know, I'm just being a silly. :P
It's a good thing he didn't have to get near that atrocity...
