for people who are for some reason confused ,here're the categories
RX460 2GB = GTX 1050 = 100$ to 115$
RX460 4GB = GTX 1050Ti = 130$ to 150$
RX470 = GTX 1060 3GB = 180$ to 220$
RX480 = GTX 1060 = 240$ to 280$
it's not logical to compare the GTX 1050Ti to the RX470 and call Digital foundry a shill because he didn't,I'm sure he will compare them someday soon but it's not direct competition for the 1050Ti. and don't share deals links since you can always find a deal (for example the 1060-3GB can be found for only 40$ than the 1050Ti ,that doesn't put them in the same bracket )
although seeing the review I think AMD will react ,maybe release an upgrade for the 460

in europe the price are not like that. Here the 480 4gb costs from 200 to 230, max 240, and the 1060 3gb goes from 240 to 280. The 480 8gb goes from 270 to 310/320 and the 1060 6gb goes from 320 to 380/400. And why all you nvidia fans are not saying that the nvidia strategy of doing a fucking 1060 with only 3gb deserves only to make the people buying the 6gb version?! I'm not an AMD fan and I don't hate nvidia, but i hate who isn't good to to say that nvidia sometimes use some fucking business strategies to bring us spend much money for nothing. Nvidia in the last years is doing so much shit. AMD wil never do that shit. Stop with your ipocrisia guys.

Very useful, I'm trying to work out the best GPU option for my next set up and the 1050 ti and the 460 are in contention...
none of them are worth spitting on if you ask me.
i dont get it the 1060 beats 980 and yet the next tier down barely matches the 960. it should have comfortably beat it the 960 and matched the 970 to be worthy of the name 1050ti the 1050 should have been this fast , good prive though

well 1060 beats 980 so 970 is nothing fo her. H e is kind a right, 1050 is to far away from 1060 same as 460 is much worse (too much if u ask me) than 470.
Play less demanding and old games, buy used, use integrated graphics or get 1060 are the worthy low end options. Buy something that is not very powerful at all, not very cheap and will depreciate is not an option anyone should consider.

Thank you, although I was wondering how the 1050Ti compared specifically to the 4GB 960, this still told me enough. For new build next year my choices are gonna end up being a 4GB RX 470 or 3GB GTX 1060. I could swing a 6GB 1060 but that'd result in possibly a very cheap non-OC Zen or Intel motherboard.

good review as always thank you for the great content but 1050ti is quite the card for a budget 75w card and the performance in The Witcher compared to my GTX 970 is very impressive. I may have to give this new card a look next time I do a budget build

every other review just came out with their performance benchs for the 1050ti debut but you did a comparison for a better idea where it would slot in, the only thing missing is the 1050 regular

Get an RX 480/470 better performance in dx12 and vulkan, while losing 5-6fps than 1060 in dx11 while still getting more than 60+fps at max settings and can run TW3 absolute max with hairworks 60fps
HellFire Only 4 games currently support Vulkan, and Nvidias cards continue to do better even in DirectX12 for many games ala ROTTR. And no, the RX 470/480 cannot run the witcher 3 at ultra settings with hairworks on and still achieve a steady 60 FPS.
TheAdrianGarza Watch some benchmarks. Also, ROTTR isn't fully dx12, more like a half-assed port from dx11. Nvidia doesnt do better at anything true dx12 much less in vulkan. I watched a benchmark where 480 did 50-60fps with max+hairworks which is pretty impressive(gamenotworks). 480 is better overall. And the only "dx12" game rottr isn't "many games". And 480 outperforms 1060 in some dx11 titles too, i.e Hitman
the ONLY game where NVidias does better in DX12 is GOW4 (and thats by 2-3%) NVidias game on NVidias engine (surprise surprise) in all other games it performas much worse and actually loses performance in EVERY game compared to DX11.

Just goes to show how little you idiots know about hardware. It's due to the memory interface.
The 1060 has 192bit interface, so it's a multiple or 3GB (3GB, 6GB). The 1050(TI) has 128bit, so it's a multitude of 2. Hence 2GB and 4GB.
They couldn't have put 4GB on the 1060 3GB version (fuck nvidia for the 1060 branding though) unless they turned it into a 970-esque (or 660TI if you want to be meta) split interface.
We all know how that turned out....

newer games seem to play much better on newer cards...i think this why you should always go with the newer tech, if you noticed older titles played better on a gtx 960 over a gtx 1050 ti but in newer titles thr 1050 ti and rx 460 ran smoother than the gtx 960...or does it have to do with the 4gb ram over the 2gb ram?

Upgrade ur processor! Because I have a Rx 460 + X4 845 and its much lower fps than my i5 ivy + RX 460! it's not bottleneck but lower performance than a real 4 core ( all AMD cpu base on bulldozer was used 2 core on 1 module, it mean, the performace of 4 core just like 2core-4thread intel CPU)

On hardware unboxed its preforms worse than the 960 and its crushed big time by the 380. And there is the 380x too , which along with 470 4gb are the best cards under 200 dollars

I would rather see the gtx 1050ti being paired with a more reasonable cpu like the i3, (rather than the overkill i7) and tested with med/high settings to achieve 60 fps, this would make more sense to a potential buyer.
They use an OC 6700k so you can see the full potential of the card and to get rid of any bottlenecks.
But yeah I see what you're saying, 99% of people wont pair an i7 with sorry ass cards like these.
z4v3k The reason it's paired with a high end processor is because it leaves no potential for bottlenecking thus giving you the maximum performance you can expect from these cards. That's the whole point of a benchmark.

he actually is right should use a i3 the people that buy a 1050ti probably are just getting in p gaming and such so seeing this performance and then using a i3 and seeing like 7 fps lower is really a dealbreaker if you ask me
I just got a brand new RX 460 for $88 and I was anxious on if the 1050 would make me instantly regret it. Considering the 460 stood up to the TI pretty well. I'm glad knowing that I didn't goof up but not waiting and spending the extra 30 or so dollars
RX 460 will get stronger over time with drivers and more vulcan and dx12 games (wait for it), trust me, you won't regret your 88$ :)

The low/ low-mid tier graphics card market is so confusing at the moment! So many competitors at so many price points, with different benefits and drawbacks.
Well 1050 ti is worth for the people who now build a budget pc but it is not worth buying for an upgrade...for example if you got a r7 260x, r7 265, 750 ti..and so on you'd better go for the 6gb 1060!!
People who buy a budget PC should always consider used hardware. Got a 280X for 95€ on eBay. If this card survives another two years, money worth spend. And I sold my 5 year old 560Ti 1GB for 60€.
I also shot an 6 core Xeon 5650 - 50€ for my uber outdated 1366 board. OC easily goes up to 4Ghz air cooled.
And that CPU is only up to 30FPS slower in *certain* games than a uber expensive 6 core i7 5820K. From a performance price ratio standpoint, thats a steal with Handkuss.

Pretty much the same, maybe slightly better or newer games cause nvidia always prioritizes better optimization for the newest gen cards over the older ones

The chip performance helps. The VRAM maybe helps to achieve a little more FPS, but the performance that you can see into a program that is being executed by a GPU is a direct cause from GPU indeed, because is the GPU who is calculating,
The VRAM is where GPU takes the data that is using to work....Is like a Hard Disk, but muuuuuuuuuuuuch faster reading and writing because the GPU's computing is fast, so he needs memories that can set their rate near to his rate of computing for avoid holes in the command queue that forces GPU to stop...Into the proper GPU is working other memory, faster than DDR, called "L2 cache" that is closer to GPU's rate to give it the data piece by piece.....And closer from each SM (Nvidia's Streaming Multiprocessors) is ubicated the L1 cache, L1 cache is even closer to GPU's core rate, this memory it's where all single cores into a SM actually takes all the data indeed.
So the important thing is to keep busy all cores working for execute that evil program.
Even if you have less VRAM that a program is demanding, all cores will be busy...Because the VRAM usage is dynamic, and also exists something called System Shared Memory, that allows the GPU to use some system RAM to write texture data.
uhm...I expect more from the gtx 1050 Ti since there's a big gap in performance between the 1050 Ti and the 1060 just like what we saw with the 960 and the 970. personally I would rather spend a bit more money to get the rx470 instead or just grab the rx 480 4gb edition. With ps4pro release just around the corner and the upcoming xbox scorpio, I want to see some rx480/970 performance level gpus to be released at a budget price with new features such as checkerboard upscaling etc.

Guess for 768p gamer, the cheapest of these will be more than enough. My gtx 950 2gb gigabyte oc, maxes out Far cry 4, fallout 4, on 768p that too coupled with pentium g 2030( Although frames rates do take a toll because of processor sometimes but guess every bethesda game do have some areas where this happens frequently for example sanctuary in fallout 4 and whiterun in Skyrim.
So where is BF1 multiplayer comparision?? Funny how these comparisions either come out late or not at all when ps4 version has much more serious performance issues.

AMD really needs to get those RX 465/RX 460X refreshes out fast. Otherwise the 1050 Ti is going to suck up this end of the market. Either that or severely drop the price pf the RX 460.

AMD is still king in budget builds, RX 470 is the best card for 1080p60 while 480 is even better

Drivers... The same have happened to RX 480, they got better with time. At launch, RX 480 was facing the GTX 970's performance, now it's pretty much the same performance as GTX 980/1060

looking at these 470 comments during the ethereum craze and it cost around 300 compared to 150 for the 1050ti or 280 for 1060 6gb

I see RX460 as the best option for the price, in some games beats all GTX cards in term of minimum fps and frame drop, performing better than all these nVidia cards.
In summary, ~40% faster than 460/950, and ~10% faster than a GTX 960. The real question however is, how much the aftermarket versions will cost and depending on that, for a bit more you could grab an RX 470 which would be a better buy.
