The biggest issue It has now a days is the absence of Physically-based Lighting and or rendering. But that's pretty fucking good for a game that old if that's the only issue with it. Hell, even Crysis 1 Vanilla still looks damn good.
+FutureGaming3000 Doom, Star Wars Battlefront, even Fallout 4 look so much better than Crysis 3 just to name a few. Guess what they all have in common? Oh, and they (save for doom,) were released only two years after Crysis 3.

You have to consider the OC capacities of the GTX1060, plus the AMD DX11 drivers suck as hell, stutters everywhere (watch the timeframe). The only power is the DX12 at the ASync compute with ~10FPS more but that's it.
Gabriel Franz The problem with AMD still however the CPU draw from the drivers. People with low-end CPUs (like my i3 4130) will have more stutters with a RX480 than the 1060, as well as the R9 380 than GTX960 and so on. DX11 titles will be forever like GTA V, a game that I play a lot, and stutters with AMD is kinda bad. My HD 6850 died 1 week ago and thinking on going for the gtx 1060
Great video as ever guys. Would love to see some of these benches done on an i5 system or perhaps some info about how much performance to deduct from these numbers if your not running an i7 or DDR4.
Techspot frame per dollar chart: 1060 FE edition: $5.00 per frame 1060 AIB at $250: $4.16 per frame RX 480 8GB: $3.93 per frame RX 480 4Gb version: $3.27 per frame So the 1060 is faster, but not as great a value, at least not right now with this Sucker's Edition bs
I'm curious to see a similar benchmark competition between the same 4 cards, but for VR content. I wonder if the 1060 gets that much more of an advantage over the 980 and 970 in VR thanks to the different rendering techniques for multiple displays that Nvidia has talked about.
tris clark yeah I just watched the video about the 1060 from Hardware Unboxed and in Doom vulkan api the 1060 gets rekt. Well at 1080, but at 1440p would be the same end result
Well that is really the case of. Go Green or Go Red. It is the same price of the GTX 970 here on my Country, however i'm waiting for the Sapphire Nitro Version.
hello fellas, i really like your reviews, congratulations for having a god UA-cam channel, just one question...... how do you do to rate fps on dx12? what kind of program do you use?, i hope you keep doing it good!! greetings!!!
have 2x gtx 970's in SLI. would it be worth it to save and buy a 1080? seen some benchmark test and most the games i play maxed out im hitting 90+fps (sli supported games of course) but its always better to have 1 card for support then having 2. Should i wait for the 1170 or 1180 and just stick it out for another year or 2?
Hi Richard, I have the GTX 980, so is it worth it to get the GTX 1060 for the extra 2 GB of VRAM? or just keep the GTX 980. Mine is the EVGA, and the cooling is amazing.. Just your opinion? Thank you!!
Nah I have the GTX 1060 and in 1080P I've never come close to reaching 4GB of VRAM never mind 6GB. The GTX 980 is very similar performance to the 1060 so if you decide to upgrade I'd recommend something like a 1070 or 1080
I wouldn't upgrade a 970 to a 1060 it doesn't worth it. Maybe to 1070 or 1080 but I would wait for the next gen graphics, then you will be have a really powerfull increase:)
hey guys give me an advice - in my country i can buy rx 480 8gig reference for 280$/ msi gtx 1060 armor for 325$ / and gtx 980 used for 320$ what should i buy, i wan to use my card for 1.5 - 2 years.
Yeah...I see people here even very famous youtubers who don't count Hitman, AotS, Quantum break, Doom Vulkan saying these games favour AMD cards. But what about those games which favour Nvidia? Like Rise of the tomb raider, Crysis 3, Witcher 3, Anno 2205, Assassin's Creed Unity, Syndicate(it was so badly gimped that i got 45fps on ultra+4x Msaa with R9 390 and then i switched to medium+fxaa and still got 45fps. The same was the case with Crysis 3 45-50fps on ultra but couldn't get 60fps even on lowest settings) but no one here says these game favour Nvidia and think of it as a fair test. The internet is so much biased toward Nvidia.. I don't know why.
Probably because they can't use fcat for either of those games. Also, the only gameworks feature in rottr is is lighting, which is why you see the huge difference at the start compared to the end. Also, all games have some degree of tessellation, regardless of gameworks or not, so it's amds own fault for not supporting it
i need a totally unbiased opinion on whether i should get the 480 or the 1060. i have an amd fx 6100 and 8 gigs of ram, and a 450 watt power supply. please help :-/. the 1060 seems to have better fps on most games but people keep saying the 480 is future proof and idk what that means, will it be better than the 1060 in like a year?
I love seeing these comments in every Tech channel, accusing every single one of them as being biased or something of the sort when they don't see the results they were wanting to see. Lesson here is to wait atleast a month or so before purchasing a Brand new chip from both manufacturers.
You guys make great videos, but you really should use different games. Perhaps picking the most popular AAA games of the past 12 months would be better and maybe through in an older popular game, like Battlefield 4 or Crysis 3 (which you have and that's great, and while it wasn't super popular like BF4, it's great for benchmarking). Games like Ashes of the Singularity, Hitman and Assassin's Creed Unity aren't that popular (maybe going for Assassin's Creed Syndicate would be better, plus it's newer and far more stable and consistent for benchmarking). This is just a suggestion after all, and I'm by no means an expert, but you are the place I trust most for video card and game benchmarking and I really want to see you guys be the best channel that you can be!
In Australia the 1060 is $120 MORE than an RX 480 so for an extra 2-5fps im gonna say. not worth it :P but i am going to get a second 480 HAHA suck it 1060 you have no sli XD
That amount of Vram is useless atm, specially on 1080 which these cards are marketed for. i run at 1440p and i very rarely go past 4gb of vram. as for Crossfire/Sli. it is never worth it on these low end cards, waste of money. Vulkan is still a made, we can only see it on one game so far, and we have no idea how big it might be. Its a gamble to pick up a card on that front. if we knew it was going to be in a ton of games sure, but we dont
Floris R You sure about that? Example GTAV 1080p uses 2.2gb Vram 2160p uses 3.3gb Vram Example Far cry 4 1080p uses 3gb vram 1440p uses 3.7gb vram 2160p uses 5.7gb vram Example Battlefield 4 1080p uses 2gb Vram 1440p uses 2.3gb Vram 8k uses 7.5gb Vram Resolution matters quite a bit. Graphical settings ofcourse effect it more, but often up to a limit, not many 1080p games even reach 3gb of vram, the only one i know that would is Rise of the tomb raider, and that has a system that uses all the Vram you have up to 8gb of vram. For the most part it depends on the game but Resolution does matter. Specially if you look upwards of 1440p and 2160p
390 is 290. They only changed the process and made 8GB standard. It's the same chip. Having AMD not do a brand new architecture is good for old cards, but not good for the future of AMD.
AMD cards always have this issue. Although for many they won't notice it. But people often look past it and just want to see the FPS numbers and not check Frametimes or Latency of the cards
Geeze, all this "controversy" over Vulkan and DOOM. DF will probably push out a dedicated video for that in the next day or two. It's not a big deal plus the current titles they use for benchmark purposes are DF's own standard for benching games and they're quite recent games to boot although most of the titles aren't exactly agnostic games in relation to benchmarking(nVidia = TW3, RotTR(With it's broken DX12 support which often results in poorer performance), Crysis 3(Despite being a Gaming Evolved title), Assassin's Creed Unity(GameWorks) / AMD = AotS, Hitman). Either way, in games that have proper DX12 implementation the RX 480 pulls ahead and under Vulkan(Or from DOOM Vulkan), the RX 480 eclipses the 1060 according to benchmarks. Coupled with the fact that older games that either have poor DX12 support or run DX11 and the 1060 only barely keeps ahead by around 4FPS on average, this is really a disappointing showing. Let's also not forget the fact that the 1060(Current) does not support SLI for reasons not quite yet apparent(Although the reality is nVidia simply didn't want to offer a much cheaper solution to their 1080 through use of SLIing two $250 cards for almost half the price). I was kind of hoping for a bit more of a discernible difference between the RX 480 and 1060, not something that's so close, at least in DX11 with DX12 basically trumping the RX 480 where properly supported. Disappointed, especially with all the touting from nVidia about how powerful the GTX 1060 was, when the reality is it's really not that much powerful under DX11...
The 1060. I only have 1080 monitors. So anything better than this card is overkill. Also, my sons computer only has a 400W power supply, so this card is perfect.
More RAM is not necessarily better. I know not all benchmarks are perfect, but the 1060 get a 3dMARK Time Spy Score of 3973 vs 3895 for the 480. In most tests, the 1060 wins, and that is with new drivers. Not a single game that I play, does the AMD 480 win. So for my my and what games I play, the 1060 is a better card for me. And my computer that is getting this card only has a 400w power supply. The 480 will not work on that power supply. But the 1060 will, so I do not need to upgrade the power supply. SO in thermals, power draw and the games I play, the 1060 wins them all. I will go with whoever wins in my budget.
+Floris R 6 vs 8gbs of vram at this power level doesn't do much, just look up GamersNexus 4v8 480 video. You shouldn't crossfire/sli this weak of a card, there's no point. Better dx12/Vulcan support? Where are you getting that idea? The 1060 uses less power, gives off less heat, and runs most games decently faster than the 480. The 3 games that the 480 won, only 1 was by a decent amount. And you can get a 1060 for $255 after shipping m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E16814125879&Email&IGNEFL071916&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL071916-_-EMC-071916-Index-_-DesktopGraphicsCards-_-14125879-S0B
If you're able to spend those 100$ more I would easily go with the 1060 for more future proof since the card was released just a couple of months ago. Also cause it's 6Gb of ram. Performance wise, both are on par nowadays, 1060 leading by a very negligible margin. You can also wait like 5 or 6 months if you don't need it right now and surely prices will stabilize. I'm pretty sure you will be able to get a 1060 way cheaper. In any case the EVGA 1060 is a really sweet deal nowadays. On the other hand if you're going to use the new rig mostly for gaming it's always better to gravitate your money spending to the GPU rather than the CPU (If we're talking about the same gen CPUs ofc).
The i5 6400 is basically just the i5 6500 with a slightly lower clock speed would only lower your fps by a tiny bit however the gtx 1060 is much better than the gtx 970 and would boost your fps by 10+ in pretty much any game, so I'd go for the i5 6400/ GTX1060
Game settings on PS4 are absolutely equivalent to maximum ultra/high PC settings exept shadows resolution, AA, AF, screen resolution, sometimes reflections. Runs it all on 1080p n rock solid 60fps. Doom 16' is an excellent example. PS4 is more powerful than any PC today.
So I ask to all of you.. Should I buy a GTX 1060 6GB, RX 480 8GB or just buy PS4 PRO play FFXV, some Bloodborne then sell it and get a new GPU in 2017?
That 1060 looks awesome compared with the 980, and they don't cost that much in comparison either. I thought the 1060 was roughly the same as the 970, but it beats it pretty easily. Might just get a 1060 instead of a 970 now.
So the 1060 has an 6-10 fps increase over the gtx 970, less power consumption, less heat, and little cheaper. This sounds great for budget builds that aim to play 1080 or 1440.Cheers
So basically if you are gaming on 60Hz, go with whatever is cheaper and available at any given time... guys on 144Hz, both cards are not good enough and you either have to pay more for 1070 or go down from ultra to high or very high to get most out of your (me included) monitors - in that case once again buy whatever is cheaper and available because both cards will get you there.
gtx1060 is really a game changer its actually quite on par with a gtx980 which is the top tier of 9 gen and gtx1060 is just slightly below the 980 which is crazy when you think about it a 6 beats an 8
Considering you can get an R9 390 for £200 which is way more powerful (on paper) I'd say the 1060 is a bit pricey. EDIT: The GTX 1060 is still beating the RX 480 in terms of supply AND on price in the UK. AMD have done terribly for availability.
the RX 460/470/480 replace the 370/380/380x but of course there is no reason to buy a 390 when you can get a 480 that is more efficient and costs the same or less. And with new drivers the best is yet to come :)
MatHeartGaming Like I said a 390 is (in the UK) available for £200 whereas the RX 480 reference cards are over £220, with aftermarket cards at £250+. Also the 390 is more powerful than the 480 with regards to most metrics (larger bus, more SPUs, more TAUs, more ROPs, higher memory bandwidth).
as a 970 owner this card is not worth it but anyone with less than a 970 should consider it. Sorry AMD but in my v small builds I`m after low power draw from SFX sized PSU`s and lower temps. There are one or two rare occassions I know where AMD can do this at particular price points but I`m really just very used to the solid compatability & configuring Nvidea hardware
lol same my 970 is OC'ed to 1560mhz and performs nearly as good or better than either, only thing is 3.5+.5 Vram. I see that being the downfall of my 970. The 8g 480 would be better in the few titles that utilize more than 4gig but is easily rectified by lowering a setting or 2 by a notch or 2 lol. Think I'll wait for AMD's big boys to come out and re-evaluate.
Kevin S Yeah i have mine overclocked to 1500mhz. Apparently if you hit 1450mhz, the 970 actually runs better benchmarks than a stock 980. I might leave it a year or so before upgrading.
FutureGaming3000 Have had my 970 overclocked to 1481Mhz and while I'm not sure about your claim, it feels like I am running a very high end card in my system.
its kinda cool to see how the least powerful card in the next gen card beats the old gens most powerful card (besides the 980ti) hopefully the next XX60 matches the GTX 1080 performance and will be powerful enough for 4k. that'll be value for 300 dollars
Can anyone explain what the numbers in the corner are? I thought they were the FPS/Frame time to make it easier to read the graphs but it seems that's not the case.....
rx 480 and gtx 1060 WHICH ONE SHOULD I BUY?!? they have the same price in japan quick guys!!! i cant decide i keep hearing about the vulkan rx 480 stuff and about the nvdia sucks but i see gtx 1060 perform better on this video I CANT DECIDE!!!!
I'm fucking confused. I'm all about raw performance of the 1060 but I'm tempted to buy the 480 because of better Dx12 and Vulkan support and crossfire for the future.
Both GTX 1060 and 480X are great GPU for their price But prefer GTX 1060 because I'm nvidia fan, and it does have lower consumption. Also, for those who use VR, GTX 1060 is better choice out of the two
ROTR and 3dmark uses single path context switching method to simulate async compute, thats an obsolete method and is the only way nvidia can gain some performance. AMD's hardware supports use hardware specific multiple render paths, and if devs use this mode advanced method (see DOOM with Vulkan), AMD's gains increase drastically and nvidias gains are nearly NONE.
It's still amazing how good Crysis 3 looks even in 2016.
The biggest issue It has now a days is the absence of Physically-based Lighting and or rendering. But that's pretty fucking good for a game that old if that's the only issue with it. Hell, even Crysis 1 Vanilla still looks damn good.

1060 has shadowplay, cant argue with shadowplay
These comparisons of similar VGA's are amazing! Very helpful. Keep it up, please!

Quite ignorant aren't you? There is no FCAT implementation on Vulkan yet so they can't use their benchmarking software on that game.

pretty cool, I would like to see Doom Vulkan and also some DX9 game, because why not, perhaps witcher 2 with ubersampling or something.
people who afford one 1060 shout buy this but for just 3-5 FPS more,it would be a waste of Money....
and there were some games where the 480 was better anyways 😉
In my country GTX1060 is cheaper than RX480, so the choice is obvious. I'm from India btw

So like 100$ more for about 4 fps....
yawn
gtx 1060 even more of a dissapointment
100$ more for 4 extra fps, no SLI support, bad Vulkan/DX12 support and less VRAM.
RX 480 is more expensive than the GTX 1060 in other places
Bloodstainer Not in my country. Where do you live?
+Bloodstainer exactly, besides you can never find the rx 480 in stock at all, if so prove me wrong, it'll be way higher than regular price
The Doomed You think the 1060 will have more supply? I highly doubt it.
so... should I buy this card (or the r9 480) or keep my 960 for 1080p gaming?
nice and clear comparison ....thanks DigitalFoundry
How does the gtx 1060 fair against the rx 480 in Doom vulkan api mode?
very good question. I suspect it would loose. at 1440p there's only a 12fps difference between 480 and a 1070 both with vulkan.
tris clark yeah I just watched the video about the 1060 from Hardware Unboxed and in Doom vulkan api the 1060 gets rekt. Well at 1080, but at 1440p would be the same end result
+tris clark lose *
Oh and then you realise in europe is expensive AF :/

you might aswell wait for the next generation of cards because thats when the 3.5gb of vram will probably become more of a bottle neck.
so guys,if the price would be equal for both cards,or just close enough, which should i buy? gtx 1060? for 1080p and less even
So for now we can say:
-Go with Nvidia if you play and will play many dx11 titles
-Go with AMD if you play and will play many dx12/vulkan titles

I really like your reviews.
you should pair GTX 1060 and RX 480 with budget CPU like i3 6100
Should I get the 970 or 1060, and which version?
how about performance after overclocking since gtx 1060 does not power connector unlike rx480 should offer better performance after overclocked?
Are these benchmarks with vsync on? If not how much fps would that take off?
This was 7 months ago, before the relive. I wonder who would win this fight now..
Is it worth upgrading from a 970 to a 1060? i could probably sell my 970 for 180$ in my place
I wouldn't upgrade a 970 to a 1060 it doesn't worth it.
Maybe to 1070 or 1080 but I would wait for the next gen graphics, then you will be have a really powerfull increase:)
how bad is ab amd 6100 for gaming? could i still get alright fps with it and one of these cards?
what's the name of this benchmarks please ? i would like to test my graphic card ...thanks for advance...
hey guys give me an advice - in my country i can buy rx 480 8gig reference for 280$/ msi gtx 1060 armor for 325$ / and gtx 980 used for 320$ what should i buy, i wan to use my card for 1.5 - 2 years.
Rise of the tomb raider runs so bad on AMD as its heavily affected by Nvidia's Gimpworks... even a 960 would beat 480 in this game.
Rise of the Tomb Raider runs fine on AMD. It's AMD games like Hitman that are biased.
AMD are snakes like that.
You're joking right?
Until 2015 they did...now they don't.
Probably because they can't use fcat for either of those games. Also, the only gameworks feature in rottr is is lighting, which is why you see the huge difference at the start compared to the end. Also, all games have some degree of tessellation, regardless of gameworks or not, so it's amds own fault for not supporting it
Are all those cards running at stock speeds?
yea
i need a totally unbiased opinion on whether i should get the 480 or the 1060. i have an amd fx 6100 and 8 gigs of ram, and a 450 watt power supply. please help :-/. the 1060 seems to have better fps on most games but people keep saying the 480 is future proof and idk what that means, will it be better than the 1060 in like a year?
Nice frame time drops on rx 480 even with dx12 xD Go home AMD, you're drunk.
So much AMD vs Nvidia fanboy filth in this comments section. Ugh.
*wemarkable
;)
EVGA GeForce GTX1060 SC is it worth getting?
Is this the default one or the strix/superclocked one?
I love seeing these comments in every Tech channel, accusing every single one of them as being biased or something of the sort when they don't see the results they were wanting to see.
Lesson here is to wait atleast a month or so before purchasing a Brand new chip from both manufacturers.
you should point out that the 1060 is a FE and its 300$ right ?
Right, but the much better 3rd party cooled 1060s start at $250.
lol my ass 250$....here is 380€
+Exia2004 Where you live ?
Depends on the model and location. There are models from 280€-350€ currently in germany.
Styler00Dollar I live in Germany :)
In Australia the 1060 is $120 MORE than an RX 480 so for an extra 2-5fps im gonna say. not worth it :P
but i am going to get a second 480
HAHA suck it 1060 you have no sli XD
in my country 480 is more expensive
ouch :(
we gonna get 15 % more gst
enjoy the stutter
2 Midrange GPUs... Just not worth it. GG
digital boundary, did you guys update rotr to the latest patch which supports async ?
He says that they are updated in beginning of this video
thanks
For just couple frame rates the RX 480 is more worth it for sure
Don't forget more VRAM, CrossFire support and way better support for Vulkan and DX12.
+Floris R Exactly
That amount of Vram is useless atm, specially on 1080 which these cards are marketed for. i run at 1440p and i very rarely go past 4gb of vram. as for Crossfire/Sli. it is never worth it on these low end cards, waste of money.
Vulkan is still a made, we can only see it on one game so far, and we have no idea how big it might be. Its a gamble to pick up a card on that front. if we knew it was going to be in a ton of games sure, but we dont
Ricepudding VRAM is linked to graphical settings, resolution doesn't really affect the memory usage by a significant amount.
Floris R You sure about that?
Example GTAV
1080p uses 2.2gb Vram
2160p uses 3.3gb Vram
Example Far cry 4
1080p uses 3gb vram
1440p uses 3.7gb vram
2160p uses 5.7gb vram
Example Battlefield 4
1080p uses 2gb Vram
1440p uses 2.3gb Vram
8k uses 7.5gb Vram
Resolution matters quite a bit.
Awesome video as always!
A buddy of mine is selling me his MSI 980(overclocks to 1600mhz) for $250 or should I get a 480?
Get the 480/470, it's only ~$200 and you can overclock it to perform like a 980 :)
will do. . . Thanks for the advise
Old GTX 980 Rock 'n' Roll baby !!! I have MSI RX 480 Gaming X 4GB and is playing very good BF1 on Ultra , but next one is 980 Terminator GPU !!!
Can you please still include R9 390? It would be nice to see how the grandpa holds up.
Not really a grandpa, more like a muscular middle aged man.
R9 290x is at this point the muscular old man.
then I guess the 7970 is the grumpy old man (since it runs hot lol)
390 is 290. They only changed the process and made 8GB standard. It's the same chip.
Having AMD not do a brand new architecture is good for old cards, but not good for the future of AMD.
wich clock speeds do the GPU´s run at?
The RX 480 has really bad frame times compared to the others
like any AMD card, frametimes suck on everything but dx12 and vulkan.
It hasn't
+Squidel AT And by everything you mean older games & dx11?
Savoz yes, it should clear up on all AMD cards with new games.
Now I know which card I am getting. Great reviews, keep them coming. Information is always top notch and unbiased.
Which card?
The 1060. I only have 1080 monitors. So anything better than this card is overkill. Also, my sons computer only has a 400W power supply, so this card is perfect.
Troy Clayton The RX 480 is more perfect.
More VRAM, better DX12/Vulkan performance, CrossFire support for future upgrading, and costs less.
And you can get a 1060 for $255 after shipping

Is the 1060 going to be worth it without DX 12? Can they get support for the 1060 now or later??
How do you mean "without DX 12"? DirectX 12 and Vulkan are the future, no matter what you say.
+Floris R Yes but will the 1060 support them!?
Mikey Proctor It supports both APIs, but it doesn't perform like AMD cards do.
AMD cards perform way better in Vulkan and DirectX 12.
what program is it that shows the frame rate lines and stuff?
Should i buy a gaming pc with a i5 6500 and a GTx 970.
Or 100 dollars more expensive a i5 6400 gtx 1060?
Jordi CC Alright man thx for the info have a nice day sir.
Does this card bottleneck with the i5-2310?
those 4 cards are so close to each other. i have gtx 970 ftw for a while. my next upgrade will probably be a second gtx970 or gtx 980ti
A thing that some people may overlook is that you can't sli 1060's but you can crossfire 2 480's.
how about power consumption ? I still waiting for 1050 pci-e only
I have no idea why youtube isnt putting this under my subscriptions or top 10 in search results for GTX 1060..
Will you replace The Division with Battlefield 1 when that comes out?
Oh and also replace AC Unity with Doom, and AOS with Final Fantasy XV
very professional video, congratz!
Guys, i have Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Windforce. Is it worth upgrading to some cheaper GTX 1060 if i need to pay 60 more dollars? Thanks.
Can I have your 970 G1 Windforce?
Well i will keep it with me for now... Until next GTX 1160 probably... :)
Totally buying a 1060 and putting my H110 and NZXT G10 GPU Chassis on this bad boy.
Should I buy a 1060 or 970? They are the same price in my country.
980 ti
same price -> go for 1060, u don't have any reason to go for the 970.
+TNC Son (Lì) well i went for the strix 1070
so i finally had the opportunity to buy a 480 yesterday but was a bit hesitant because of the 1060 coming out tomorrow. i made the right choice :D
1080p/34fps on $2000' hardware.
Truly master race...
Try to run that on your shitty little console you peasant
"$2000 hardware". Are you fucking kidding me?
like If you ever saw a game on high quality...
we are out here enjoying that while you can BARELY make 30fps on MEDIUM settings on fucking 720p hahahah
Thanks for the benchmark! Definitely gonna buy a 1060 :P
strange I've seen other reviewers get 1-2 fps win for 1060 in ashes instead of 1 fps loss. That was in both high and extreme settings at 1080p.
If you already have the 970 or 980 the only way to go is the 1070 or 1080, and might only be worth if you are planning to switch to 1440p
I would like to see graphs instead of curvy lines moving constantly. I know, there is nothing perfect but we got uncertainty +-
gtx1060 is really a game changer its actually quite on par with a gtx980 which is the top tier of 9 gen and gtx1060 is just slightly below the 980 which is crazy when you think about it a 6 beats an 8
This thing overclocked upto 2.1 ghz will just smash 980 and rx 480. And the best part is that it is priced same in every country!
still happy with 980ti tbh...
roll on Vega and 1080ti
RX 480 vs GTX 1060 with i5 6500 benchmark would be great!
For those bitching about more price should know that it is the Founders Edition. Just get the $250 AIB card
Considering you can get an R9 390 for £200 which is way more powerful (on paper) I'd say the 1060 is a bit pricey.
EDIT: The GTX 1060 is still beating the RX 480 in terms of supply AND on price in the UK. AMD have done terribly for availability.
+derpy153 maybe because it is cheaper?
***** It's cheaper and on paper is far more powerful.
the RX 460/470/480 replace the 370/380/380x but of course there is no reason to buy a 390 when you can get a 480 that is more efficient and costs the same or less.
Look at the power consumption difference.
as a 970 owner this card is not worth it but anyone with less than a 970 should consider it. Sorry AMD but in my v small builds I`m after low power draw from SFX sized PSU`s and lower temps. There are one or two rare occassions I know where AMD can do this at particular price points but I`m really just very used to the solid compatability & configuring Nvidea hardware
I was thinking of getting a 1060 but it only seems to average 5-10fps more than the 970, and my 970 has a heavy overclock on it so it seems pointless.
lol same my 970 is OC'ed to 1560mhz and performs nearly as good or better than either, only thing is 3.5+.5 Vram. I see that being the downfall of my 970. The 8g 480 would be better in the few titles that utilize more than 4gig but is easily rectified by lowering a setting or 2 by a notch or 2 lol. Think I'll wait for AMD's big boys to come out and re-evaluate.
Kevin S
Yeah i have mine overclocked to 1500mhz. Apparently if you hit 1450mhz, the 970 actually runs better benchmarks than a stock 980. I might leave it a year or so before upgrading.
FutureGaming3000 Have had my 970 overclocked to 1481Mhz and while I'm not sure about your claim, it feels like I am running a very high end card in my system.
its kinda cool to see how the least powerful card in the next gen card beats the old gens most powerful card (besides the 980ti) hopefully the next XX60 matches the GTX 1080 performance and will be powerful enough for 4k. that'll be value for 300 dollars
спасибо тебе из Сибири! давно искал этот тест!
In my country the GTX 1060 is cheaper than the GTX 970 .-. Should i sell my GTX 970 and get the GTX 1060?
Can anyone explain what the numbers in the corner are? I thought they were the FPS/Frame time to make it easier to read the graphs but it seems that's not the case.....
If you're talking about the numbers in the right, there is the current fps, and the average fps.
rx 480 and gtx 1060 WHICH ONE SHOULD I BUY?!? they have the same price in japan quick guys!!! i cant decide i keep hearing about the vulkan rx 480 stuff and about the nvdia sucks but i see gtx 1060 perform better on this video I CANT DECIDE!!!!
I'm fucking confused. I'm all about raw performance of the 1060 but I'm tempted to buy the 480 because of better Dx12 and Vulkan support and crossfire for the future.
guys can i run gtx 1060 with core i5 6500 without problem? plz answer
does it work the same with an i7 4790k?
Would Gtx 1060+Fx 8350 work together ??
yip
In Hungary custom gtx1060 (msi gaming/asus strix) costs the same as a ref rx480... the choice is quite easy I think
Why 2 FPS counters for each board? Like this: 38.03/50.04
Where I live, 1060 is cheaper than 480 (just a bit), should I buy a 1060 then?
Si tienes pensado hacer Crossfire en un futuro pilla la 480. Si no yo me quedaría con la 1060 (no puedes hacer SLI).
I say go for it!
Both GTX 1060 and 480X are great GPU for their price
But prefer GTX 1060 because I'm nvidia fan, and it does have lower consumption.
