    This is the card I have in my system and I love it. It's my first graphics card in my first gaming PC and all I care about is getting better performance than my PS4, which it does flawlessly.

      They probably wanted something to compete with AMD's offerings while they were still working on this one. This way the worse 1060 chips became the 3GB ones with a cut down number of CUDA cores.

    I know you like to do all your own videos just your own way. But if your open to suggestions, their is a LOT of people that are running systems with like an i3 2130 and and usually lower end cards. could you build a PC with something around these specs and maby show how to make it better with overclocking ect. and what to do next in terms of upgrading. Cause that would hit home with a lot of your viewers. Just an idea.

    • @darkknight1193
      @darkknight1193 8 років тому

      I could help you with a system build/upgrade which is reasonable. Your i3 is just fine, all you need is a suitable GPU but you have to ask yourself what type of gamer are you? If you're playing games like TF2, LoL, DOTA 2 then you don't need a high end card. If you do play triple A games (heavy graphical games) like GTA V, BF1 then you're better off with RX 470 or GTX 1060 3GB. The i3 may bottleneck your gpu but you'll still get above 60 fps. If you want a system build, just let me know and I'll make a suitable system for you.

      darkknight1193 hey, even I have an Intel i3 2120 along with 6GB DDR3 RAM should I get the GTX 750Ti 4GB version, I wanna play games like GTA V and Just cause 3, I want the settings to be at high or ultra, I can manage frame rates like 40 and don't care about them, I'll be running games at 1080p. Thanks again!

    • @darkknight1193
      @darkknight1193 7 років тому

      Hybrid Potato Your RAM is fine so is the processor. What's the price of 750 Ti 4GB in your country (where do you live)? I would rather consider High settings, because Ultra is very hard on a GPU of that range (also your CPU will not let the GPU push the images as much as the desktop cpu. I might find a better and equally priced GPU if you can tell me where you live? Remember that even used high end cards of past generation are still rocking ;)

  • @PaddyMayneUK
    @PaddyMayneUK 8 років тому +13

    Sadly the pricing is vastly different here in the UK, as the RX460 can be had for as little as £101 yet the cheapest 1050ti is £148.99, and just to make it more confusing the RX470 can be had for £160. Even the cheapest regular 1050 is £114. This makes it a no brainer, AMD is the way to go here at the low end UK GPU market.

    I think it would be great, if you would show a graph that shows how the fps drop and spike while you play. Because sometimes the average fps looks great ,but the game is unplayable due to drops in fps. Or you could put a link in the discription of the benchmarks where you can look at those graphs

      So I did a 2 second google search and found that same gpu he listed the price for still having a listed price of $149 on Newegg: www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150778
      I mean it requires such minimal effort to research the most basic thing, so why are you so lazy about it?

    • @martinptacek405
      @martinptacek405 8 років тому +4

      Shane Vincent that's not the GPU he listed. He listed a 2 GB model and that was my point. Watch the video one more time.

    • @InfinitePCGaming
      @InfinitePCGaming 8 років тому

      Martin Ptáček I see what you're saying. On NewEgg the XFX 4GB is $149 while the 2GB XFX is $129. But then they have a XFX "True OC" model for $99. Weird pricing for those 2GB Models. Not sure why Jay has "AMD RX 460 2GB" in the pricing graph. Even if you browsed PcPartPicker individual parts you can get the XFX 2GB for $104. I do realize these are prices after the drop but if I'm not mistaken the price drop was only $10. I guess it was a simple typo on his part.
      Also, one final edit, I guess he just put the $149 price point of a 4GB there since the 1050ti is a 4GB card itself. I just wish this comparison was two 4GB models going against each other and not a 2GB vs 4GB.

    You just compare 96£ GPU with 150£ GPU
    im not fan boy of AMD ( got nvidia) but next video should be GTX1050 vs RX470??
    Include FPS/$(£) when its looks like AMD beats Nvidia
    i have done calculations from your video ( data )
    and on average u have to pay 3.44 £ for every FPS on GTX 1050Ti when
    on RX460 u pay just 2.87 £ for every FPS
    when they will release GTX1050 I would like to see video all 4 cards ( GTX1050, GTX1050Ti, RX460, RX470 )
    and include price / FPS so can everyone see by adding 20-30£ can have better card.
    GTX 1050Ti vs RX470
    GTX 1050 vs RX460
    not GTX 1050Ti vs rx460
    RX460 - 96£
    GTX 1050 - 115£
    GTX 1050Ti - 150£
    RX470 - 180£

    This card is for 1080p what a 1080 is for 4k.
    That's why if you can afford them the 1060 or the 1070 I think are the best cards for 1080p... unless you're good with the medium settings for many AAA games/or you don't care about the 60fps treshold.
    So the costumer has to choose between the good settings at 35 to 50fps, the 60fps medium to high settings, or the more expensive all around stuff. Great video as always Jay!

    Why should it be a game changer? in Linus Video you saw that it's barely faster than a 950. Not even as ''strong'' as a 960. I think if you want something in this Price cathegory, save some more up and buy the RX470 since it's noticable faster than this.

The game still looks amazing and the worse FPS you will get is 40-45 in Novigrad city. You will be sitting on 55-60 frames most of the time. Of course playing in 1080p.

    I don't think some people don't understand the appeal of this card. Sure the performance isn't mind blowing. But it's not just about the performance. It's the fact that this is the best card money can buy that doesn't require additional power. It's small, runs whisper quiet, doesn't get hot.
    There's something beautiful about the fact that I simply dropped this card into the PCI-E slot of my parents' old Phenom II x4 965 BE + 8gb DDR2 pre-built PC from like 2009 that came with an OEM 400w PSU with no 6-pin cable, and it works! This old beast has been revitalized and can run new games in 1080p at medium-to-ultra settings at respectable FPS.
    You think most people who buy pre-builts want to worry about swapping out power supplies, managing cables, and shit like that? Of course not. Not to mention a decent PSU will run you an extra $50+. The GTX 1050 Ti is a card that says "fuck all that bullshit". Anyone with a brain can install it in 30 minutes or less, and pretty much any PC with a PCI-E slot can work with it.

  • @isaacroebuck9514

    Seriously Jay, even I can put my bias aside when we're discussing the lower end, and then you go out a compare it to a 460, without even showing a 470 in your benchmarks, everybody knows that the 50 series is usually a direct competitor to the 70 series and the 60 series is supposed to go one step lower than nvidia, this is how it has been for countless generations. The 470 can be bought for only $15-$30 more than most 1050 TIs but with up to 50%+ more performance. Make no mistake, this video was made with exclusive intent to make AMD look bad, when in reality their tier of card for only slightly more with a descending price vastly outperforms nvidia's offering. This leaves me with only one question, Exactly how much Nvidia corp stock do you own jay.

    You should not get the 1050, the 460X is better and just cost 10$ more.
    Ok But the 1050 Ti just cost 10$ more too and is muchhh better than the 460X.
    Sureee but the 4GB 470X is only 10$ more and it destroys the 1050 Ti !!!!!
    See where I'm going with this ?!!
    When you think about it, the cheapest card is the 1050 and it cost 110$ but the new msrp of the 4GB 470x is 150$. So basically, for only 40$ more you get so MUCH more performance, it's ridiculous. Personally, I wouldn't buy the 1050/1050 ti/460x, the price/performance is not there. I guess there's a niche market for people with pre-built Dell/Acer/HP which tend to have really shitty PSU.

I'd be interested to see a comparison between really expensive motherboards and cheap ones, if it makes any difference in fps, loading times, stability, etc.

  • @AvroBellow
    @AvroBellow 7 років тому

    Jay, this card has the same performance as an HD 7970 from five years ago. It has much lower power usage but that doesn't really strike me as anything that I would refer to as "Beast Mode" considering that I just took two HD 7970s out of my rig and replaced them with an R9 Fury only because I want to game at 4K with my new display and 3GB of GDDR5 won't cut it (and neither would 4GB of GDDR5).

    • @anotter_one
      @anotter_one 7 років тому

      You're making an absurd comparison, how can you even mention an R9 Fury when this video is about a budget video card? You just missed the entire point of this video. It's obvious it won't hold a candle to high end GPU, and this is aimed at budget gamers who might not want to buy a big power supply.

    cool video. I was about to buy a 1060, but then noticed one of these for around 130$. Now a super tough choice to be made. I personally don't mind playing on medium / high mixture of settings at 1080p. The main thing is that I want a solid 60+fps. It's tempting to buy one of these for almost half a 1060. Even if it only last 1 year before something more powerful is needed then it would still be worth it.

    The 1050ti is very nice, even still.
    Perfect for 1080p gaming, though I will be moving on to 2k resolution gaming soon.
    I play gta v at 1080p with high to ultra settings and get around 80 fps average. It does peak at around 110 occasionally.
    I do want to game at a higher refresh rate, with a new monitor delivering soon with 144hz. I also want to game at 2560x1440p rather than 1920x1080.
    The 1050ti will unfortunately not be able to preform anywhere close to 144 fps with the resolution and settings, so evidently NVIDIA sticks to their word when they say that the 1050ti is the key to 1080p gaming. I will be updating to a 1080ti in time! I just do not have the funds unfortunately..
    Keep up the great videos Jayz, you were the one to inspire me to get into computer tech and gaming.

    I like how things evolve. 1080p gaming is getting cheaper, and modern games even look good on the lowest settings, for example BF1 or Battlefront, Tomb Raider, Overwatch, Whitcher 3 and even No Man's Sky. If you want to spend thousands of $$$, you can do that but even a low budget PC can hande all the modern games without huge drops in graphical quality.

    I currently have a GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB ZT-70601-10M in my computer. My board is a gigabyte 970-gaming sli and I have a fx8350 cpu running 16 gigs of ram. I don't use my computer for that much gaming. Usually just for video editing, recording xbox one with the elgato hd60 and streaming using xsplit at 720p60. I can actually record at 1080p60 and stream at 720p60 with xsplit broadcaster at the same time right now but it really makes this setup work. Just curious if the 1050Ti would give me any performance boost.

    Jay, thank you for this video! I love Bang-for-Your_Buck videos! I am looking at building a new computer after 10 years of using the same one, and these videos are helping me choose what to use!

    You should start doing video editing performance tests. This card will be in many lightweight laptops that will be used for task like that instead of gaming .

    now that the price dropped on the Rx 460 , I'd like to see a comparison between the 950, 960 2gb, 960 4gb, 1050 2gb, Rx 460, 1050ti 4gb, Rx 470, 1060 3gb, and 1060 6gb... it would be interesting how they stack up at 1080 and if its a worthy upgrade from the 950/960...

    Greetings from Malaysia, Jay... great video on the 1050 which is the still very much affordable than the 1060.
    My gaming itch has started again and I'm thinking of building my entry level gaming PC after a very very long time. Which is the best 8th gen Intel CPUs (the 8100 or 8400) for this GPU? aka avoiding those nasty micro stutters.

    Hey Jayz,
    love your videos btw.
    How "noisy" is the card in idle? Do the fans spin or does it run in zero fan mode ?
    If the fans spin, how loud is it ?
    Sorry for some bad gramma =)

    Jay, would you recommend this card to someone over an older card that is faster & cheaper (at this point in time), if that person has an ample PSU?
    Say something like a R9 380X or a GTX 770 / 960 etc?

    Thanks for the info Jay!
    Would you make a video on VR gaming? specially using such budget VR Ready cards. Is one enough? Will 2 way SLI do any good? Specially compared to a single 1060 for example.

    I've been considering getting the 1050ti to replace my 750ti since I ran across it while looking at the 10 series stuff. Still aiming for the 6gb 1060 at the most. But after this video, I'll be watching the 1050ti more closely.

    Cool Jay. Although if you want to test the card with world of warcraft then try to go to a more detailed environment. Like Gorgrond (Draenor) or Azsuna (The broken isles). You can really feal the difference. Even I can with an fx-8350, 16 gigs of ram and a 4gb 290 OC...

    Jay you should do a video on first programs you should install with a new gaming pc, i think it would be a great topic for a video. ( stress testers, overclocking software, and anything else you think should be included)
