Hello Rick, great add to your collection, and thanks you for sharing your knowledge about thoses very old cards. In Europe i only see one time a 1916 Babe Ruth rookie card not slabed, but pretty sure at 1000 % it was a false card. Thanks for sharing and Happy Collecting
Wow, what a great card. Are the two cards of Ruth you just showed, the same size? I couldn't tell by the video. PSA should hire you as a consultant Rick. Thanks for the information.
It looks like the Ruth and the Alexander were photographed in the same ballpark based on the background. Very informative video Rick. Good knowledge to soak in. Thank you!
Thanks! The grading companies are stubborn. When new information is discovered they don’t want to correct the error. I guess not to confuse the collector
Beautiful cards Rick! Such a sweet addition to your amazing collection! Thanks for the education too! It’s my understanding that PSA is very concerned with mislabeled cards and pop reports. I would bet they will correct that and relabel it for you free of charge if you contact them. Can’t hurt to try!
Awesome big boy cards, Rick! The Yuengling brewery is about 40 minutes from me and I believe Tharps was made about 15 minutes from where I live. Great stuff!
You have such a great collection of Ruth cards! I hope acquire a 1935 Goudey Ruth in 2024. I’ve started this set. Anyway, I learned a lot about cards from the area of York PA! Thanks for sharing!
@@vintageoddballcards6103 As much as I want to see Ohtani win the World Series, I do hope Yamamoto doesn't go to the Dodgers. He could really become the 'the man' in SF if he signed there..
Really nice presentation, Rick. What a great history lesson and backstory on some museum quality cards. Thanks for showing us these treasures and researching such a fascinating topic. Well done!
Great pickup from Heritage! Nice group of cards and good information. I've been sending more cards than usual back to grading companies to change the labels.
I collect the 1930s diamond matchbooks & they too have very subtle difference between the different types. PSA occasionally gets they type wrong and they often don't distinguish between different boarder colors many cards have 3 different boarder colors. On these oddball pre-war cards usually the collectors know more about it than psa.
Wow great pick up Rick! Thanks for the educational lessons on the type 1 vs 2. I think that card went under the radar for most - thus you being able to pick it up for cheaper. Seems many cards are going under the radar these days, primarily due to more of an influx of these more expensive cards to the auction houses. Thanks for sharing!
@@vintageoddballcards6103 And I should say congrats on the Ruth! I played Division 3 college baseball in the 1980s in Pennsylvania, so I either played in many of those towns or know them. York was particularly memorable for all the wrong reasons.
Thanks for passing along your knowledge Rick. It is always appreciated. Congratulations on an incredible Ruth addition. I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas.
Wow gorgeous rare cards. Love the history, makes all these cards even more special. Great you were able to recognize the mislabeled Ruth and get even a better price.
Congrats on getting that Rick! Wonderful stories and history lesson. Appreciate you sharing!
Thanks Eric!
Really enjoyed the video Rick. Thank you for sharing your wonderful cards as well as your extensive knowledge on these rare sets.
@@VintageCardWonderland thanks!
Outstanding video, Rick! This could be a top four or five list for most people. Love those York caramel cards.
Thanks George! I really happy to pickup that Ruth.
Forget the glossy. It's the copy on the back either reading left to right or right to left. I've got a 1927.
Rick, great pickup. Love that older photo from when he was a Red Sox. Great card.
I agree. Love seeing Ruth pitching in a Red Sox uniform.
Great stuff as always . I didn't realize the companies were so close to each other. I have one Tharp (Edd Roush) and one Yuengling (Red Faber)
I didn’t realize it either until doing the research. I’m a huge fan of the ice cream cards. Would love to pickup a Cobb
Beautiful card! 🎉
Thanks! I really appreciate you watching

One Day I’ll do a tabletop. But, it’s a lot of work for someone my age
Congrats on the W Rick! Beautiful cards. I've looked for these sets you mentioned over the years. Some day I'll pick one up!
You won’t be disappointed if you pick one up. You can find a common player for under 100.00
Great pick ups and I appreciate the history lessons
Thanks!
Awesome Ruth card, congrats on the pickup. Great catch on that label.
Thanks Orlando! Grading companies are stubborn when it comes to new information. You don’t want to rock the boat.
Congratulations on the Ruth win Rick! Great cards and information.

Wow, nice Ruth!👍
Thanks! It’s might be my favorite card in my collection.
Nice cards! Love your post and insight on vintage baseball cards . Thanks for sharing your collection.
Thanks! I really appreciate you taking time to watch and comment. It means a lot
There’s an even rarer card the Sweetmans.
Yes I’ve never seen a sweetmans Ruth. Interesting that the company was based in Missouri. Not completely sure what product they were promoting.
Yeah I think that qualifies as Huge 🤪
Lol
It looks like the Ruth and the Alexander were photographed in the same ballpark based on the background. Very informative video Rick. Good knowledge to soak in. Thank you!
Thanks! Interesting on the cards being photographed in the same ballpark
Fantastic Rick! Thanks for sharing. Congrats on the great Heritage win.

Pretty cool I bet most of those brick buildings are still standing.
Class is in session my friend. I love your latest Ruth, and I’m pretty upset I didn’t snake it from you lol 🐍
Easy now! Be nice!

Good luck on the finding the right 35 goudey Ruth. It least it’s not as expensive as his other goudey cards
Congrats on the Ruth win 🏆. Nice breakdown of the different companies. Take care Rick.
Thanks Andy! When are you going to come out of retirement? Lol
@vintageoddballcards6103 Haha 😄. Retirement has been good Rick.
That's a fantastic card, Rick! Loved hearing about the different types, and that's a sharp looking card!
Thanks! Happy New Year!
@@vintageoddballcards6103 Happy New Year!
Congrats Rick! I was following a E220 Ruth in that same auction. Unfortunately mine sold for way more than ever before so I came up empty.
Darn! That’s a tough expensive card. I was thinking of bidding on it too.
I have a Yuengling card and a w502. Now you've inspired me to look for example of some of the others. Fun stuff. Thanks Rick.
I need to pickup a Yuenglings card. The ice cream cards are some of my favorite cards to collect
Funfact about Yuengling. They’re the same company that makes beer today but during Prohibition they sold Ice Cream to stay in Business.
Hi Rick. Man those are awesome cards. Just love seeing you present you vintage, and the research and knowledge that you put into it. Thanks Rick.
Thanks for the kind words. Half the fun is doing the research on the cards.
Awesome cards as usual Rick. Love the Gehrig.

It is kind of frustrating to have misinformation on labels
All Beautiful cards Rick! I really appreciate the time you’ve put in to the research on these. You need to be a consultant to PSA!😁
No! They don’t pay enough and would piss me off
Yuengling is the oldest brewery in the country its from Pottsville PA. I love all your old cards and the history behind them
Thanks!

Harrington's was in Dushore PA, which is in the Northeast part of the state. York PA is south central PA, 140 miles from Dushore.
