For a Westerner, the cost of living compared to say, the USA and some western European countries, may be lower. But I find Cape Verde to be one of the most expensive countries in Africa. In the last 10 years, I've been considering moving to Cape Verde but I find that one month's rent there would pay for my rent in Nigeria for a whole year! When I look at the water bill it's as high as am paying in the USA. Now, y'all listen to this: DESPITE ALL THE NEGATIVE THINGS THAT SOME NIGERIANS SAY ABOUT THEIR COUNTRY, IT'S STILL THE CHEAPEST AND LIVE-ABLE COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. If I were to be making money in Cape Verde, I might consider moving there but it's a very small country with a little economy. Even if I were a nomad, why wouldn't I look for a cheaper country? Just my ¢2!! Thank U.
You're absolutely right in saying that Nigeria is the cheapest and live-able country, but some people like myself prioritize other things such as safety, peace and quiet and stable electricity above the affordability of the standard of living in Nigeria 👍
You are very correct, im currently in carpe verde and im so shocked by how expensive the country is . And in my opinion you don’t get the service worth of what you’ve being charged for. It’s a nice city but it’s the most expensive African city I know and I really don’t think it’s worth it .

But they do have an immersion program for primary and secondary school students to learn the language to an extent before joining their mates in the normal classes. Hope this helps ☺

The economy is thriving as their currency is pegged to the dollar/euro. But with regards to getting jobs easily, no. It isn’t easy to get jobs and it’s even harder when you don’t speak language. That being said, there are jobs but you have to really search for them 👍🏽

Hi Uvy, what would you say to a 17 year old English speaker who wants to do undergraduate studies at Cape Verde. There are no English speaking courses and Portuguese is quite a challenge I am told.
Well, at the moment there are no English schools that I know of and even though the Portuguese grammar may not be as straightforward as English, you can rest assured that you will be able to learn it in no time since that is the main language used in the school environment. Hope this helps 👍🏼

No. Not possible. You'll only get to Senegal and then fly in from there. But if you ask me, no matter how much you think you'll be saving up by travelling by road to Cabo Verde, it's not worth the troubles you'll face on the way. Not even the slightest bit!
This is a great question. Even though English isn’t the official language, there’s still quite a number of people who speak English. So you can always ask people if they speak English when talking to them. But I think trying to learn the language before you come is still the best way to go about it 👍🏽

Hello there. I think the language barrier may also be an issue unless you speak Portuguese. Skilled labour may be easier to navigate as there is usually provision for some form of language training or you may meet people who speak English. Hope this helps 👍🏼
