Funchal is the capital of the beautiful island of Madeira, part of Portugal in the Atlantic Ocean. This film was taken around Christmas and the weather is very nice at that period of the year. Funchal is the birthplace of Christiano Ronaldo.

Have you caught your attention? An island with a very old population. There is little or no agricultural production.The cost of living can be. A volcanic island in the middle of the ocean. So everything is so expensive. People are unhappy. Even the waiters in the restaurant are 50 or older. It is not beatiful a place to live.

Madeirans are very far from a progressive, tolerant society and are very attached to an old, very backwards, uneducated way of living but the island has great infrastructure, absurd natural beauty and much dignity. It's diametrically opposed to mainland Portugal.
