It messed him up and soured his relationship with his abusive family of aristocrats even further (they covered up the whole ordeal and then kinda held it over his head), and that’s when Darth Plagueis swooped in. He convinced Palpatine to kill his whole family (since “he was a monster either way, so he might as well embrace it”), and things spiraled from there. A similar thing happened to Plagueis himself, and of course we all know what Anakin went through. Darth Bane’s whole Sith lineage is just a study in cyclical abuse and generational trauma.

The idea of a villain who just knows every single detail of what's going to happen is infuriating in canon, but hilarious in parody. They know when they're going to be humiliated, lose a ton of resourses and even be killed, but that's also part of the plan... for some reason.
I love how everyone except Palpatine is trying to have real conversations while he tries to get them to play their parts in his plan which he refuses to tell anyone about.
Arguably, the dark side feeds off of psychological damage, making Maul more powerful. He was so angry at Obi-Wan for defeating him that he survived his fall. The pain and suffering caused by Vader’s suit made him more powerful as well.

It doesn't quite sound like Sam Witwer though. Witwer's Palpatine has a weird retracted [s̺]-sound, where the original has [z] or [s]. Seriously, if you listen to Witwer's Palpatine (which is really great, don't get me wrong), you'll notice that "his Sith Master" would sound almost a bit like "hishsss Sshith Mashter". McDiarmid doesn't do it that extremely, if he does it at all. If you look up that one Rebels scene that got dubbed by both Witwer and McDiarmid, you can hear it pretty clearly. "Thisss is an opportunity we cannot passhhhsss. Sshkywalker's apprentisssh could lead us to other losssht Jedi." His [i:] at the end of words is also more open than McDiarmids, sounding more like [ɛ:]. "An opportunitehh". And when he is voicing Maul (which IS my favourite Witwer performance in SW) he has a weird tendency to make this weird little "fffhhhh" breathing sound at the end of some sentences, which I think is him either drawing in his breath or his saliva through his front teeth. It is really hard to unhear once you notice it. Just look up the Clone Wars' Satine Death Scene. "Your emotions betray you (hhh): Your fear (fffhhh) and yes your anger (fffhhhhh)! [...] SILENCE! You think you know me? (ffffthh) It is I who has anguished for years thinking of nothing but you! (ffffhhhhhh)"

Here's an idea: episode 2 when obi wan is floating, being captured by dooku, dooku talks to obi Wan about HIS thesis on how sand was instrumental in the influencing of anakins thesis about dichotomy which would lead to the destruction of the jedi order.
This is a brilliant example of the dichotomy of life forms and the struggle of light and dark even within the ranks of the Sith. Trying to be light hearted with humor while needing to maintain the undeniable presence of what some would call evil.

Personally I would have spent a bit longer on the not getting cut in half lessons but this works too.
