I was spokesperson for the Bruce Lee Museum in Hollywood, CA. (1980's) This is the same story Linda Lee (Bruce's widow) and Norman Boreen, founder of the museum shared with me. The Hollywood movie depicting this fight was not the real deal, this video is!!!!!
A worthy addition to the documented aspects of Lee's brief career. The various movies dance around entertainingly, but always leave questions of authenticity. Stories from JKD students still are kept secret.
@joelpollardjkd If you're looking for other life long martial artists that has dedicated their lives teaching with roots that go back years and years, Ajarn Chai Sirisute is the man you should do a video on. He's the father of Thai Boxing on an international level going back to the 60's and 70's. He's Guro Dan's Muay Thai coach. I have photos that go back to the 80's of both, Guro Dan and Ajarn Chai. If You'd like any of them I can contribute to your cause.
Understand especially for that time period, it was important not to “Lose Face” for those who had social standing. Being humiliated, would cause you many social problems in the small but growing Asian community. I heard a slightly shorter narrative of this story from SF State University math professor Rick Wing, who inherited Wong Jackman‘s San Francisco studio, many years ago, when we bumped into each other at the Target store in Colma, south of Daly City. We stood chatting in an empty aisle for almost an hour.
I wasn't clear who this account was from? Could you say exactly who gave this account? It seemed at points you were quoting Wong Jack Man himself. Is that so?
Good video.. people made movies about Jack Man Wong and Bruce Lee so Fake.. these facts in this video are possible.. Wong Jack Man was so lucky this fight did NOT happen years before B Lee died because Lee was more far advanced then ! 🎯
Listening to this story it's a too dam bad that maybe if Chuck Norris might not have known about this fight, Chuck might have had something to say about it or help Bruce out
This was an awesome and well told story. A true story and Better than T.V. I wonder what is the story for why these two came to fight in the first place. I heard a story that it had something to do with an encounter Bruce Lee had at a Tai Chi school and had absolutely nothing to do with Bruce Lee's decision to touch none Chinese Gong Fu.
Brilliant! Haha, was like watching (or listening in this case) to a top notch Bruce Lee (李小龙) movie, with intriguing plot twists and captivating expectations all the way through. I admire Bruce Lee but should have kept that hot temper in check. Wish I was is good friend, would have fixed that flaw of his...haha, I am more like he described James Coburn, super nice and mellow...haha
If Bruce got the best of Wong why did Bruce change his style after the scrap? If you’re winning you don’t change your style! If I hit a 450’ home run do you think I’m gonna change my bat next at bat?
I have worked with one man who was outright arrogant and told others they were no good. He did ask me why I would work with him when no one else would. I simply answered " you're as good as you say". But, one day he made a major mistake an when I saw it i just smiled. After that he never critized me or others. All I had to do was smile.
Supposedly it’s said that Linda filmed it, but nobody came forward. During filming of Enter the Dragon, co-star Ahna Capri filmed a challenge between an extra and Bruce. She said she has it but she died in a car accident, where or who has it!!!??
All local newspaper at that time said that Wong won the fight. If it was not the truth, why they lied and for what propose? Otherwise, why Bruce Lee's wife lied and for what?
This story is bs. A long time ago, in Black Belt magazine, the real story was presented. Bruce tried to seriously poke Wong Jack Man in the throat and Wong Jack Man who knew both hard and soft stules, deflected partially and placed Jun Fsn in a headlick. After about 4 minutes, Wong Jack Man let Jun Fan go. Bruce once again tried a series of strikes, and Sifu Wong Jack Man simply put Jun Fan in a headlock again. Eventually, both agreed to gove it a rest. Jun Fan was very angry, saying the fight had onlt lasted about five minutes when it went on for almost half-an-hour. After this, Bruce developed Jeet Kune Do further. Bruce had gone to Waegwan-dong and stidied Tang Soo Do Mu Duk Kwan from my instructor. My instructor was also proficient in Hapkido. Bruce was extremely gifted and very well-mannered. Chinese friends of mine from Gkendale and San Francisco said Bruce was very arrogant and would even do crunches when being dined by the Chinese business owners.
Not one real fight. Not even a real boxing match. Not one so called kung fu man to step up to prove how good it is. They have all been destroyed by everyone. They just using him to make money out of there junk
@kahekilimaui450 Lee would've been worse off playing Kwai Chang Kane. The moves and strikes Lee did in his movies 🎬 would not have been allowed to be done on that show. Thank God he didn't get that part. The cinema was the better path than television for the vision to carry out his art of Jeet Kune do and express it to the world 🌎
The Choy Lee Fut school in San Francisco also kicked Bruce Lee's butt as well as his students when they were going around and challenging martial arts schools in Chinatown.
I was told this story by a Kung Fu Grandmaster Sifu David Chin. He told me that HE actually was supposed to fight Lee and would have beaten him. Sifu Chin was amazing in multiple Kung Fu styles. Hop Gar, Hung Gar, Choi Lei Fut, Tai Chi..and probably a few more.
Should I do more of these?? Also if you wanna learn JKD, my course is in the description!
yes , do more please
@@ReminEmdex-pk7by will do!
@ReminEmdex-pk7by a lot of people are misinformed about Bruce Lee and JKD so I'm glad to help👌
@@joelpollardjkd You can't help. There are countless unsubstantiated stories about Bruce with no real evidence
Please add more of these. Thanks.
Jack

The story is in Linda’s book, Bruce Lee; “The Man Only I knew” if you can find it, pretty pricey. A good book.
Thanks for the beginning picture it brought back memories.

Do a video about Guro Dan Inosanto. He's one of the guys in the picture at the beginning of the video. Second from the left. He's a legend.
I'm literally going to post my reaction to meeting him in a Day or two, definitely a LEGEND

I had Chinese people tell me Wong Jack Man won.

Yes! The author of the book interviewed EVERYONE from the fight except the ones that were obviously deceased before the making of this book

Later on Bruce hurt his back and it really caused him alot of pain, not sure Bruce would have dont well.
James Lee Sifu, was a Sailor! Lots of southern styles, used iron studs wristbands! Like Hung Gar 😳🤗😬
Wow, I didn't know that, that is like Hung Gar or like Eagle Claw training
Listening to this story it's a too dam bad that maybe if Chuck Norris might not have known about this fight, Chuck might have had something to say about it or help Bruce out
Norris never fought kumite only point fights
So many stories about this, except Wong Jack Man talking about it. He is the only one who really knows what happened.
The translation at 11:42 to 11:45 is killing me! 😂😂😂😂

How do you know ow much they weighed?

this was when jdk was born.
Check out my latest video for that!
Lol, the concept was born in Seattle
If Bruce got the best of Wong why did Bruce change his style after the scrap? If you’re winning you don’t change your style! If I hit a 450’ home run do you think I’m gonna change my bat next at bat?
Because Bruce told Linda that the fight took too long.
Joel, you're a JKD practitioner, and are biased against Wong Jack Man. You're just telling a story.
I have worked with one man who was outright arrogant and told others they were no good. He did ask me why I would work with him when no one else would. I simply answered " you're as good as you say".

Too bad there's no video of the fight like the title makes you think there will be.

Exactly, plus Wong Jack Man wanted a public rematch and Bruce never responded.
"....In this video I share a clip from the audiobook wrath of the dragon...."
....and what makes you think that is anywhere near the truth ?

They kick him out of the school. Then when he put there crap on the map they praise him. hip a crits

No no no. According to all the people on Reddit Bruce never fought anyone😂😂😂
There's always three versions to every story. 😅
Not one real fight. Not even a real boxing match. Not one so called kung fu man to step up to prove how good it is. They have all been destroyed by everyone. They just using him to make money out of there junk
So.much fot Lee abiding by the rules. It is noted that Lee often never followed rules. Jet Li would hurt Lee
No one won. Both were very good at kung fu
If anyone cone to you and say anything to you about someone else, He's a traitor. Another word There is not your friend !
Sounds like bs.
Arrogance was one of Bruce's problems..
Arrogance is every human beings problem 😂😂😂😂😂😂
That's why he wouldn't have worked for the role of Kwai Chang Cane in the TV series
"Kung Fu" Cane was Supposed to be a mild and unassuming character.
