About the Amazon vs Ali Express price difference and being worried that they were the same product but Amazon was marking it up significantly. There's a very very real chance the same product listings on Amazon and Ali Express are completely different products using the same photos. If they're scummy enough to use someone's photos without permission, I have no doubt they are scummy enough to send different products out under the same listing. It's actually happened quite a bit with sites like Ali Express and Wish where a company will have one product and multiple completely different listings for it to lure in more customers. For example, they may only have a 10×6 notebook but have three listings one for a 9×6 one for a 10×6 and another for an 10×5 and ship their 10×6 regardless of what is actually ordered. Many customers wint care about the slight size difference and just be happy about the low price. Take that to an extreme with products like bangs. Maybe you did recieve a high quality product, but that may be luck of the draw and somewhere out there someone's getting a brown cheerleading pom pom cut up to sorta look like bangs. That's why your viewers shouldn't buy this product even though your review for it wasn't so harsh. Because there's a good chance the product you bought and the product they will be buying are completely different.
Ugh. I have stolen photos (of my photography prints on Etsy) on Aliexpress. It makes me so mad... I can’t stand these people. I just hope people make better choices as buyers. 😪
In Germany there are non profits for protection of individuals (against landlords, corporations ect.) Setting up something for creator protection /copyright would be something many of us would surely support... if I had any clue how to do that I would love to help😅 (or set it up independently).
Ah, feel so bad for you. Do you use watermarks for your prints? ...though i know people with good enough photoshop skills would probably be able to fix it anyway....I just don't understand why they have to take others work or pictures to sell their stuff....it's so unoriginal and stupid to do.
Tori Marene Thanks. No I don’t since they don’t help much. I do upload lower quality photos to my Etsy for the example images, which is what they took so it doesn’t make much sense. They’re trying to sell large prints of low res files. I can’t even imagine what that would turn out like..
I just watched a video about counterfeit makeup and how dangerous it is. I hate that it’s very difficult to find out where a product is being shipped from on Amazon. I was sent a cheap, knockoff hairdryer (fire hazard) from Korea that had said it was the real brand and delivered in less than a week. Lies. They never answered me. Amazon didn’t answer me. Ebay, Etsy...you can filter “ships from” but Amazon is abetting counterfeiting from Asia.
I don't buy cosmetics/skincare from Amazon because even if you buy from a legitimate seller Amazon stores all of the similar merchandise together without labelling which product belongs to which seller. So bootlegs are stored with legitimate products with no identifying info. It's basically a crapshoot then if the bootleg is taken off the shelf, or the real product is.
I've decided (for various reasons, including the one you're describing) to just buy stuff directly from company websites or a specialized retailer (like ulta). Most offer free shipping anyway.
I have been buying directly for a few months and, thanks to far more sites taking PayPal, it’s been quick and easy. Amazon is not the only quick-click way of shopping any more. Woot!
Ugh! Hate that they get away with that. Stinks that they damage UA-camrs' brands. You're one of my faves and I look forward to seeing what you have coming up in 2020!
I actually saw a bernadette banner video where they stole her image and mad a cheap polyestwr version of a 15th century she spent weeks on and sold it for way less than what she spent on the original gown
The editing afterword is very important and needs to be talked about more. Products are made cheaper by cutting corners, and the first corners are workers and materials.
I cut my hairs and bangs using your tutorials and recently when I was going for my bridal package in parlour... The people there including their hair expert said that I have lovely haircut that suits me... Thanks to you... All credit goes to you 💖
Yo! You should be able to contact Amazon directly they are a US company. Aliexpress may be less helpful being a Chinese company (China is notorious about not caring about copyright and they tend to protect domestic businesses).
I have to say I have seen your photo as well. I worked with aisi hair and quit cause they used my photo without permission. I made them pay me or I was going to tell Amazon they give full refund on their products in exchange for reviews. They paid me alright. I dont care. They wanna play dirty I can too.
you handled the situation as professionally and sympathetically as you could - thank you for recognising the poor working conditions and the real victims not even being the consumers, but the people giving up their hair for pennies to feed their kids and the folks who need to slave away to market it to us

I'm shocked that you popped up to my recommendations. I would never forget your face since the sock bun secret video that you did was one of the first youtube video that I've ever watched. It's so nice to see that you are still on youtube omg time flies really fast.
To be honest I think that even with the styling they still look a bit awkward, I much prefer your regular lovely bangs. And I am very happy you added that note at the end, these products always make me suspicious of what is behind them, how they were made and where the hair came from.
a) Have you ever tried to do this and succeeded? You act like it's easy and it seems like you think Amazon actually cares. Perhaps you could get the ball rolling and go and report this seller to Amazon and let us know if you recieve a helpful response? My guess is she'd probably need half her subscribers to send complaints before they actually do anything. b) She explained that the same seller is selling outside of Amazon as well on even less reputable sites.
Psych IRL did a video about a year ago about something like this companies using big creators likenesses for their brands it's alot harder than you think to make them take it down.
It’s hard enough doing something like that from within the US, but considering the fact that she doesn’t even live in the US, the international aspect makes it even more of a hassle
She can still have a lawyer send a cease and desist or similar strongly worded letter about infringing copyright (her face, her brand). There are options besides just lawsuit!
I don't think I'd call making a video for a subscriber base of over 600,000 staying quiet. But, yeah, there may be more that would be appropriate & attainable.
I loved that you talked not only about how bad it's that they use your image to sell without your consent, but also about these websites, their prices and the relationship with the working conditions they handle. Is not ethical and that you spread awareness about that I consider it very important, so thank you very much.

Bernadette Banner had the exact same experience with a medieval gown she spent MONTHS painstakingly stitching as per original practice, and made a hilarious video roasting the knockoff that someone was selling using photos of her beautiful creation. I admire your integrity and wish more people (and companies!) were like you.
Ugh that really sucks! And thank you for including your thoughts on Amazon, so many people order stuff that's way too cheap from across the globe and while it's convenient, it's important that we stay conscious and realize we don't need to do that all the time!

Another fascinating video. I saw Bernadette's video as well. It is so frustrating to me to see these companies steal someone else's ideas. It has happened to me a few times with my art. But, my art has a VERY niche clientele. You can report them to Amazon though. A few people have done that and it has helped some. Love your videos very much. Always a fun watch. 👍💙💙😀
I'm always up for a nice Bernadette Banner reference. Companies like that really irritate me and I'd never buy it, but it was so funny to watch you try them on 😂 Thank you for all your hard work 🌱
While you are right saying it is better to buy locally, sometimes the stuff you buy locally is also made in China and has been shipped around half the globe so its not necessarily better. Buying local is good but it's best if it's also produced locally. I get its weird to be able to buy this off aliexpress for 1 dollar, the 15 dollar one you buy in your local store might be exactly the same and has also been shipped from China.
Thank you for bringing awareness to this problem of yours. I really dislike that these sellers use your face for their purpose and you cant do things against it. I am now going to write reviews in Amazon on products with your face stating that your face was used without permission. Maybe we as your loyal viewers can help with this issue by respectfully bringing awareness of your situation.
This video idea cracks me up so much LOL! That being said, I definitely agree with all that was said towards the end of the video. Still got a good laugh at you buying your own bangs and comparing it to your own XD
Have you tried contacting Amazon directly, or tweeting at them? I know it sounds silly, but sometimes companies pay more attention to their social media feeds than emails. While you can't prevent the source company from putting this stuff on other sites, you may be able to get the picture removed from Amazon at least.
You are wonderful. I will admit to buying from Amazon and Wish. With Amazon it’s sometimes the only way I can get items because going out to a retail store is mentally difficult for me. I get back from buying groceries or pet products, things I have to venture out into crowds or well lit stores with bright packaging and tight aisles and I collapse when I get home.
Pro bono is rough. We get so many pro bono requests...it would literally mean i work without pay forever. Lawyers deserve pay with the amount of schooling and constant classes they have to take. You can negotiate them only getting paid if you win and they get a percentage of winnings. You can also include legal costs in your suit. Would you would for free on super intense research cases? No. Pro bono should be reserved for organizations that really need it like NPOs who rely on donations to help others.
I've send a review about the amazon product (with your pic) and the review got cancelled because they didn't like it. It's so unfair all this and i'm a photographer and also my pics are used online without credits. I understand. I've know written to amazon.de (i have an account there) about this. Very curious if they'll respond or not.
Yes. Write a review but tell them how bad they suck and write a scathing review. 😂 If they ask you to remove it don't. If they remove it, put a other one up
Even if you can’t actually go through with an international lawsuit, you should try threatening to sue. I bet at least a few of them would back down after being threatened with a lawsuit.
You should contact Amazon. It is not ok that your picture is being used without your consent. They are not allowed to do that. We will back you up if there is an issue. Companies dont like it when followers in the thousands say something as well and bring negative image to them. But now that you have made this public, it will get attention and they might do something.
It really annoys me that they think it's okay to do this . Sadly they get away with it because a lot of youtubers cannot afford to take them to court . I totally agree with you Lucy .
Also there are women in poorer cities, towns and etc in countries in the east that actually get there hair stolen by being grabbed and their hair cut on the streets. My husband has told me this had happened in Vietnam where women from small tribes were cautious about wearing ponytails because people would grab them and chop it off to sell their hair for cheap to sketchy wig companies. A wig company in NYC also brings light to this problem. That’s what I think of when I see these cheap human hair brands. It makes me very sad that people actually purchase these.
Oh my yes I know those sellers and they used my photo on an ad as well lol oh my oh my! I will tell them they better watch tf out. Not cool at all and those bangs suck.
In case you're interested I haven't been able to find these on the French Amazon. But there were others with other pictures of very famous actresses which is riddiculous...
We need a toturial on how to keep bangs looking good when you have wind messing everything up 😂 honestly i have an insecurity with my forehead and i feel i look super weird when they fly other ways help 😭
ive done a lot of research about selling products on amazon (FBA selling.) One thing sellers do is they usually buy the product in bulk from Aliexpress or Alibaba (china) for very cheap and rebrand it and sell it for a much higher price on amazon. So most of the time products on amazon come from china. But sometimes sellers do use a manufacturer in the US or somewhere else. Also it's very, very common for them to use pictures either from the manufacturer or online. So i'm not sure if they will do anything about this, especially if the picture is on the manufacturers website. You could probably try messaging the seller directly to remove it. I'm sure they would as they dont want to risk their product getting negative reviews or anything
Wow, interesting that that is not taken down. I reported in Aliexpress about stolen enamel pin design by the designer I know, and added pictures from the original designer's website and it didn't take many days and the product was taken down.
As someone who has quite a bit of family that works at amazon, working conditions 100 percent depend on the place you are working. Most of their workers are happy with their jobs and the same is true with my family. It has a lot of benefits and promotions are easy if you stick with it. Conditions definitely vary depending on where you are.
This should turn into one big class action law suit, since there are so many influencers affected. You'd need to approach them along with a lawyer who's ready to make some big bucks
Big bucks how exactly? The company is probably a one-man show reselling the products of somebody else. They will disappear and restart with a new 'company' one day after any lawsuit starts. Guess who will pay the lawyer...

I have androgenic alopecia with a lot of hairloss in front of my hair. I am actually tempted to get some bangs for even I don't want to wear my topper.
Oh, no! I'm sorry this happened to you. Maybe you would have better luck contacting the websites where they're selling the bangs, rather than the company that obviously doesn't care about the law. It would be a lot of work, but maybe they would realize eventually that it was not working to use your image. (Not that that would solve the bigger issues you mentioned at the end, though.)
It wouldn't matter really sadly enough. If she got them to take it down on one website another would pop up somewhere else. I have seen this happen with make up youtubers.
That's such a shame. I feel like some more respectable sites, like Amazon, will respect copyright law, so it's possible that at least Amazon would remove the listing. That's totally true the scammy companies will just sell it elsewhere, though.
Even if you were able to get the listings taken down on both Amazon and Ali Express new stores can easily pop up using the same image again. The only real way individuals can make a difference, which you pointed out in the video, is to stop using them all together. I stopped using Amazon after the controversy regarding their working conditions and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.
Many individual sellers sell products from Amazon. There are thousands of listings and Amazon can't really keep up with every picture posted on their listings. I understand your frustration though. I work at Amazon in the US and we ship to all over the world from just one building. I think you should try writing to the seller directly if Amazon customer service does not respond.

Ohh no, that's horrible :(
In Germany there are non profits for protection of individuals (against landlords, corporations ect.) Setting up something for creator protection /copyright would be something many of us would surely support... if I had any clue how to do that I would love to help😅
(or set it up independently).
@@Courtney6 I wish the best for you and really hope karma will hit them at some point if that exists.
And this, along with the abysmal working conditions for the employees, is why i never order from amazon anymore.
Woot!
So technically, if they take a new screenshot now, you will be wearing their product 🤔🤔🤔
You should retake the photo they used and do expectation vs reality
And put it in the amazon review ;) they cant do much to change it
@@Treytinoxo 🤣
@@renialatrice Yes! Same, I saw that too. She also did a great job demonstrating this dilemma to her viewers.
All credit goes to you 💖
Them being not half bad is worse because what a missed opportunity.
You go girl!! 👍
you handled the situation as professionally and sympathetically as you could - thank you for recognising the poor working conditions and the real victims not even being the consumers, but the people giving up their hair for pennies to feed their kids and the folks who need to slave away to market it to us
You need to make these into merch yourself and out-sell the fake ones! 😂😂 Seriously though, that's not right what they are getting away with. Hopefully the laws change soon to make it easier for you to sue as it's a big problem. Not to mention crime! Love from Edinburgh 💙🏴💙
This is actually a great idea! @loepsie is so well known for hair tutorials that it would make sense for her to get into hair pieces or hair accessories!
I always get cautious when companies don’t credit the models wearing their products, there’s so many cases of companies stealing creators’ images to promote products
I think you should post a photo of you with the bangs on their Amazon because that would be peak hilarity!
YES!! In the reviews section
I'm really glad you put that bit at the end. It's very insightful and changed the way I think about where/who I purchase from. Thank you.
Your statement on ethical consumption is so spot on!!! Loved this ❤️
I'm shocked that you popped up to my recommendations.
I don’t understand why you don’t contact Amazon and threaten lawsuit, they HAVE TO stop the seller from selling there. No brainer.
a) Have you ever tried to do this and succeeded?
I kind of think big bad company has more money to throw at lawyers than she does.
Honey, you should talk to a lawyer they can give you ideas and even help with legal advice and action you can do. But do not stay quiet.
She just said it's too long and expensive to try and sue and get copyright rights from different countries.
She can still have a lawyer send a cease and desist or similar strongly worded letter about infringing copyright (her face, her brand). There are options besides just lawsuit!
@@songbanana8 I agree 💯
I don't think I'd call making a video for a subscriber base of over 600,000 staying quiet. But, yeah, there may be more that would be appropriate & attainable.
I loved that you talked not only about how bad it's that they use your image to sell without your consent, but also about these websites, their prices and the relationship with the working conditions they handle. Is not ethical and that you spread awareness about that I consider it very important, so thank you very much.
trust me! the 1€ Pieces are not Human Hair. That you got a good piece was luck.
"Okay, I must admit, this does actually look like my bangs *sigh*" lmfao
you and us could post negative reviews that this store uses your pictures without your permission, including us contacting amazon until its too loud to ignore 👊🏻
Yeah that's the one I referenced in the video! 😄
@@Loepsie It makes me very happy know you follow my queen of historical fashion. May you have many happy sewing adventures!
Companies like that really irritate me and I'd never buy it, but it was so funny to watch you try them on 😂 Thank you for all your hard work 🌱
Good on you for having such a good sense of humour about it!
I love you. You are def my fave and they aren't bad but it does suck that companies can do this and you have no way to stop it.
I love how you are completely honest about this, thanks for taking the time to do it
Write a review!! Include that you’re the girl in the picture, include an updated picture of you, include the link to this video.
Amazon is so skeevy. It freaks me out how often this happens.
They aren't trying to just sell bangs.
They r trying to sell HER bangs.
When you turned to the side 4:23 🤣
So many conflicting emotions! Thank you for being honest about it
I must say sister you are so creative I watched your historical hairstyles and other videos.♥️stay happy
I am so sorry to hear this! Shocked that Amazon hasn't shut them down!.😜
THIS IS HILARIOUS omg the way you styled it it looks so natural
You are the first beauty/fashion UA-camr I have watched who cares about and amplifies the messages of sustainaibilty and workers’ conditions!!
I wonder if Amazon can take it down??
Laine Vee I’m sure they’re able to, whether or not they would if she asked is another matter! 😒
Yessss!!! More roasting of shady sellers. *rubs hands and cackles*😈
My mom ordered these from wish for super cheap but like $15 shipping. They looked fine but that site is such a scam
it's time to hire a LAWYER. If you are an influencer you seriously NEED ONE. See if you can find a pro bono one for this case.
It is just weird ...
Also the plastic so much plastic packaging .
If they ask you to remove it don't. If they remove it, put a other one up
Even if you can’t actually go through with an international lawsuit, you should try threatening to sue. I bet at least a few of them would back down after being threatened with a lawsuit.
I’m so sorry this happens to you! I can imagine it is incredibly annoying!!
it's *wild* what those kind of sellers do. I've had multiple people have their dog's image stolen and used to sell all kinds of things...!
If this is being sold on Amazon, could you not request Amazon to stop allowing this being sold through them?
You should contact Amazon. It is not ok that your picture is being used without your consent. They are not allowed to do that. We will back you up if there is an issue. Companies dont like it when followers in the thousands say something as well and bring negative image to them. But now that you have made this public, it will get attention and they might do something.
This makes me angry. I’m going to see if they’re on amazon in the US and if so complain. Others should too. 😘
Ohhh the bands colour is so exactly match to your hair !!! 😲
👏👏👏great talking at the end! Thank you for that❣️
Oh my yes I know those sellers and they used my photo on an ad as well lol oh my oh my! I will tell them they better watch tf out. Not cool at all and those bangs suck.
In case you're interested I haven't been able to find these on the French Amazon. But there were others with other pictures of very famous actresses which is riddiculous...
After I saw your bang video I got bangs myself and then hated them on me 😂😂😂😂😂 You’re beautiful!
this is such a hilarious idea :) thanks for posting
We need a toturial on how to keep bangs looking good when you have wind messing everything up 😂 honestly i have an insecurity with my forehead and i feel i look super weird when they fly other ways help 😭
Use hairspray . I know what you mean I have a large forehead too lucky aren't we
Don't waste your time trying to contact them, go straight to Amazon, it's up to them to regulate the sellers on their platform.
ive done a lot of research about selling products on amazon (FBA selling.) One thing sellers do is they usually buy the product in bulk from Aliexpress or Alibaba (china) for very cheap and rebrand it and sell it for a much higher price on amazon.
You should link the product so your followers can try to report or comment or whatever you do on Amazon
It would be so funny if they took a clip from this video and used that instead.
This disclaimer at the end is just perfect!
*PLEASE Share the link with us and we all should leave a comment on Amazon! If EVERYONE speaks up it will help to prevent this scam!
Another UA-camr who sews bought a cheap knock off of a Victorian costume she hand tailored from a Chinese company that used her image without her permission.
Doesn't UA-cam have laws protecting this?
When/if you *do* find a product like this that you *can* support, you should let us know! I always want to play around with bangs, but not for keeps. This video is making me consider how hard it could possibly be to craft one with our own hair?
I’d buy them if YOU were the one selling them 😂
Because you are a queen of bangs😄. I cut'ed the bangs by watching your video, and now every time when I look in the mirror I remember you 😂😂😂
Even if you were able to get the listings taken down on both Amazon and Ali Express new stores can easily pop up using the same image again.
Make your own brand of fake bangs and then sue them for "counterfeiting" your bangs that you sell lmao
(inb4 "that won't work")
It won't work
Hello Loepsie, I enjoy your presentations so very much. Would you or have you ever recreated Mona Lisa and her mysterious smile as in the famous painting ? You are amazing 🌷
now they're gonna screenshot this video and put that on the listing
You should write to Amazon
I think you have to contact amazon customer service instead of the seller; they can force the seller to follow their rules if the seller does not respond.
Love those Glasses!
