I think it’s funny how like, they saw how divided the community was on DP remakes: some wanted it to stay mostly true to the originals with little updated content (megas, regionals, maybe dynamax), while others wanted a complete remake in the SwSh style, with wild areas and shit.
So, in response, they decided to make TWO Sinnoh games at the complete extreme ends of the spectrum, lol. One faithful almost 1-to-1 recreation of DP, and one crazy open world action RPG game.
Yeah that was a really good call by gamefreak imo, also handing the easier to make games to another company and developing the huge open world one by themselves was a good decision too.
And the community are still bitching about BDSP. The toxic majority of the fanbase rushed TPCi to make DP remakes so instead of following SWSH design and risking more backlash they went full faithful and moved to a 2nd game to try out new ideas

A Legends series could be huge for the longevity of the series. Means they don’t need to keep pumping out regions and new mon. But instead focus on lore, gameplay and timeline stuff

Just like zelda, they left the remakes for other companies and now gamefreak can work in the main titles
As long as they are not true remakes to Diamond and Pearl and implemented the changes from Platinum otherwise we will have a severe lack of fire types.

the 3 starters in pokemon arceus are meant to symbolize ancient japanese things, rowlet is an archer, oshawott is a samurai and I believe cyndaquil has to do with the volcanos
Cyndaquil is probably the oni.
I've read that Cyndaquil is either an Oni like the other guy said or represents fireworks.
It's so surreal to hear that D/P are actually getting remakes. Chibi models be damned, I'm so excited.

I’m glad everyone else LOVES the music
I absolutely adore the looks of these remakes! They did an amazing job here - they managed to keep the upward-styled camera movement in the overworld like it was on the DS and instead of sprites, the character models are chibi styled! Brilliant! And then in battle, they have the full model like in Sword and Shield. With a bit more polishing before release day (which is what I'm assuming they're doing right now) these games will look amazing. And there's always a possibility of either a DLC content release or a Delta-like episode of the Distortion World events. And Arcues is finally getting a game! Considering the only involvement Arcues has had so far in the series is the old event it had that was never released and the movie it was in, I'm really excited to see Arcues finally have it's story told.

That's probably what a bulk of the underground exploration will be. Similar to BOTW shrines, you'll go underground and explore dungeons requiring HM moves or specific Pokémon to make it to the end and find one of the plates. The end of the game will have you make it to the Hall Of Origin with the Azure Flute and return the plates to Arceus

I didn't care much for Sinnoh so the idea of remakes never mattered to me personally but I don't see how people were wrong to expect them to look like SwSh. FRLG looked like RSE. HGSS like DPPt & ORAS looked like XY. There was clearly a trend with previous remakes being based on the current gen. Let's Go is the one exception since it came out before SwSh & influenced certain design choices like overworld mons.

But also, as someone who never played Gen 4, I'd much rather have the Platinum-exclusive content be treated as DLC in the remakes (like in Sword and Shield) than have it be treated like the actual original games where you had to buy a whole new game for no reduced price with relatively minimal differences

It still has 1 year so they will improve graphics and FPS. What we all saw was the beta of the game like the sword and shield beta which got leaked. Compare the sword and shield beta and the real game. You all haters will understand then, that they will be great prequels.

Yeah I don’t think people were stupid to expect it, and yet at the same time I kinda do, lol.
Every game before Sun and Moon was very blocky, so it wasn’t hard to take each town and route, and recreate it block for block. To remake DP in the same vein as SwSh would be a pretty big undertaking, and would require quite a bit of reimagining just for the visuals, let alone what kind of mechanics to bring over. Players seeing DP like SwSh would start expecting wild areas and even dynamax battles.
I could see the remakes getting the Let’s Go treatment visually - which is what they seem to have done for battles, but I really feel like people were setting themselves up for disappointment if they expected SwSh visuals.

Legends definitely seemed like raw proof-of-concept alpha footage.
It’s 100% going to look better, but like... this is still Game Freak lol. I wouldn’t set your graphical expectations too high.

You can't just call people dumb for not liking the art style. It's a pretty specific and cartooney style they choose. The overworld graphics would have probably been possible on a 3ds. Ffs, there are App Games, such as Genshin Impact or Switch Games, such as the Legend of Zelda game, and many more with better graphics and similar or lower hardware possibilities. I'm no sucker for good graphics, but the Sinnoh Overword looks like you choose an pixel enhancer on a free website and mashed the old Diamond and Pearl graphics in there. The game is 15 years old you can't bring it back with the same map. You have to look at the key features of every place in sinnoh and reenhance the spirit of that in a new higher quality map.
If you like the style that is completely subjective which is fine. Calling people dumb for having a different opinion for not having the slightest idea of what could have been possible in a sinnoh remake just let's you look dumb. Personally, I have not bought a pokemon game in a long time because every single game costs about 100€ to get the full content and is not even close to the state of other AAA games, and I'm tired of pokemon fans getting every new year a new piece of garbage, when they could take 3 to 4 years and probably create the best game there may have ever been for every pokemon fan.
I really hope that is going to be the Arceus game, but tbh looking at some of the animations for an elevating pokemon. No reactions of the shinx when the pokemon next to it is caught, I have my doubts that it is going to be what pokemon is capable of. I really hope I will be wrong, but only time will tell.
Sorry to everyone for letting of steam here, but I just find it insane that someone calls people dumb for people wanting something from Pokemon, which they owe Pokemon fans for a long time now.
THANK YOU! I love John but that was a bit of an overreaction on his part, be it that I personally feel insulted by the remakes because those were my childhood, I think everyone should be left with their own opinions on the games
THANK YOU, I agree there's no difference in buying DLC or buying a third version. If anything the DLC is cheaper. Also someone pointed out on a TV you can see the distortion world aura, and that in a portion of the video you can see one of the Porygon line, implying that Platinum features, or at least some, will be in these remakes.

I disagree on the remake style having to be like that. You can always bring a remake up to today’s standards. Look at FF7 remake. Even ORAS looked like X and Y since it came out the same Gen as them. Why couldn’t DP remakes look like Sword and Shield since they are coming out during the same Gen? At least we have Legends coming that has a similar art style to Sword and Shield.
Why would the remakes have any reason to look like that when there's ORAS and Let's Go. I just can't fathom why they thought they'd make it look like a dodgy fangame rather than actually do it justice.
The company who made Pokemon Home made the remakes.
@@theashenogre8948 The developers don't make a difference. They are probably making the overworld assets from scratch and so they had a choice for the art style. They should have stuck to the ORAS or Let's Go style.
@@theashenogre8948 The engine does not matter. I am just talking about how it superficially looks. In the same way that anyone can make RSE or DPPt *style* sprites of whatever they want, the developer can make the models look similar to the ORAS *style*. This is a company with the official backing of Game Freak developing it. The models and animations used in battle are the same old ones we've been seeing since XY; considering that there are clear signs that GF are just giving this company stuff from previous games and it's not all new stuff, if we are to use your argument, in all likelihood it shares the same basic engine as SwSh and Let's Go.
If they wanted to, they could easily have made it look similar to ORAS or Let's Go. But they chose to use this dodgy style kinda simulating the original artstyle but in blobby 3D-- this is my argument, no more no less.
I'm sorry, but the style of the remakes just looks dumb. Imagine the legendaries in this art style. The switch can do so much more, that's just a cash grab. Though, I do find it funny being called stupid for that opinion by the guy who will pay for anything anyway, so take that how you like. Especially saying "It's how a remake should look". Sorry John, but it seems you haven't seen many remakes. I guess, the FF7 remake doesn't exist, right? It's impossible to make a remake of such an old game without changing the style. Also what's with the comparison to OR and AS? Yes, John, these were games on the DS, not on the switch. Legends looks good though, at least a new approach.

What is your point then? At first, you come with the argument that it looks fine considering that it's not done by GF. Now, you tell me, they are not cheap. So then, it doesn't look fine anymore, right? You can't have your cake and eat it too. Decide for one. Not to mention that it doesn't matter anyway, because they still charge you full price, so I couldn't care less who developed it, because I rate the game against its price. Lower price, I might accept some cheaper things but not at full price.
