  • In Part 3 of the Colorado Trip, I'm camping and Fly Fishing a small stream in Southern Colorado after backpacking out of the Weminuche Wilderness. I set up camp along a forest service road and fish a couple streams in Southern Colorado. The fishing was great on these two small streams and the road aside access came just in time. From here, I transition to more remote areas but the break was much appreciated and the fishing did not disappoint! Check out the other videos from this trip below:

    Love wader free fishing. Makes for a more comfortable day out. Plus summer time temps make it easier then spring or fall. Nice creek, good fishing. Doesn't get any better.

    That toothbrush incident reminds me of a trip our family made (Dad, Mom 5 kids) heading back from Idaho to St. Louis, MO. Made it to a town in So. Dakota and after a blown muffler that a guy welded back together at almost 9pm for $20, that my Dad said was the biggest bargain since Manhattan. After unloading the luggage, we crashed into bed, about 10:30. Next morning, got an early start to get as close to STL as possible and at our breakfast gas stop at Sioux Falls, about 150 miles down the road from our motel, Dad pulls up, rolls down the window and says, "Filler up". Attendant says, "You got it - uh, late night or early start?" Dad says, "Both actually, why?" "Your shaving kit is still on the roof --where did you start from?." "Kimball, good thing the road was straight or who knows where it would be now." Funny what one remembers 50 yrs later.

    OK, I'm trying to figure out how you read the water. I can tell you target darker, slower water (deeper) but are you seeing them before you cast to them? Like the brown at the 8 minute mark

    • @LooknFishy
      @LooknFishy  4 роки тому +1

      Not sight fishing any in this video. Just casting to likely water....soft spots, under cut banks, breaks in flow, seams and transition areas between fast/slow water and shady areas under trees...each situation is different but when I look at the water there is usually a likely hold. Mostly its just experience.

    Hey Drew you inspired me last summer to get out there in the San Juan range. However I never made it to Creed to explore. I ended up doing really well above Durango and near Silverton. I’m planning on going back to Creed and trying to get into them like you did but I fear I’m going too early this time. Do you think mid June is too early for that area ?? I would appreciate your response and thanks for the great videos. Also I’ve said it before but I really like that you don’t play music when wading. It’s almost like I’m there in your videos. Haha thanks brotherR !

    • @LooknFishy
      @LooknFishy  3 роки тому +1

      Hard to say, I just look at the river gage's in the area and read the fishing reports from local fly shops. I think runoff will be sooner this year so mid June is a real possibility. If the big rivers have crested than the small ones have most likely crested also...ime, the small streams crest, then fill the bigger streams...everything runs down hill!

    • @andrewpacheco7780

      @@LooknFishy I really like that you get the fish back in the water as soon as possible. If that means that us viewers don't get to see the fish quite as well, or that you don't have the presence of mind to identify the fish, I for one am absolutely OK with that. BTW, great videos!
