I like rattlesnakes. At least they have the decency to let you know they're there! Ours in Australia not so much. AMazing waters you're fishing. Loving your channel.
Some excellent fish in there! Glad to know bears to sh** in the woods. Also glad to see you didn't get hurt on that fall. I have jammed wrist and fingers pretty good slipping around. Broken rod is worst case scenario on those slips and falls. Loved the brown from the big log/laydown as well. Gorgeous fish!
Just came across the CO video - lovely! Those were some NICE fish for such a small stream. Need to do more blue lining in my own backyard?! Tight lines! 🎣
Thx man, yea I got some hate for the i sensitive toss of the brookie. Even tried to explain there were others that felt releasing any brookies or browns was irresponsible!
@@mmfruitveg haha, maybe one day but it seems like work....cleaning, cleaning up after...I'm way to lazy for all that lol! I keep some redfish every so often but cook them with the scales on...redfish on a half shell...lazy!
I've always asked the boys for information when I hunt and fish. They spend so much time riding their bikes and stuff outdoors thay they always know where the animals are and are often eager to point me on my way. Anyway, I'm an expert on everything outdoors myself but this kid down there was pointing me to the big prairie dog towns around there and told me about " them rattlers down there". He was from texas ya know, so he knew them snakes were special. He told me that they is called big timbers which he said is a cross between the ones below on the prairies and had mated with the desert ones that wind there way sideways up to there to get cooler. Said they are along the streams eating all the trout then lay up in the woods to rest. Said you should always wear snake boots or at least leather cowboy boots with heavy blue jeans there. I thanked him for his information and thought I'd share his story with you.
Love your videos, man! This is one of my favorite areas on the planet to fish and was told to me by the Smith's who used to own the Fox Creek Store. RIP Greg Smith! Did you fish the lower below the reservoir? If not, the next time you're around the Conejos area, go to the end of the campground and park at the gate. From there you can hike about a mile and a half or two past the steeps of the canyon and drop in to fish it back up towards the reservoir. It has a lot more deep pools than the upper does, but I love them both! Also, lots of small natives above the falls of the upper.
A special stream for sure. I did not make it above the falls this trip but knew it was there...just ran out of time lol. Thanks for the tip will definitely check them both out!
You seem to be one of the more competent Colorado stream fly fisherman I have seen. Crazy cool videos. I will be in South Fork on a mens family fly fishing trip. Feel free to share any info on the Rio Grande or any of the other smaller creeks you may know of! Tight lines
Thank you! I carry a sawyer water filter. It attaches to most plastic water bottles and you squeeze the water through it into nalgene water bottle. You can see it in the Hiking Weminuche video. It's about the size of a table size salt shaker.
Soooo, note to self, bring snake bite kit, spare shorts, wear a steel chastity belt to protect family jewels and last but not least, a helmet for the falls!!😜🤣🤣🤣🤣. Where were you brother? I know South but where abouts?
What was the closest town to this creek at least? 🤣. I know you’re up higher in elevation Somewhere to be catching brookies. I’ve got a lot to explore in Colorado still, never enough time... 🤣.
That second fish was incredible for that size creek
Agreed, that was unexpected!
Of all the waters I've fished in my life, these small streams are my favorite, by a long way. Greetings from Switzerland
Welcome to the adventure!
Watching a topwater take never gets old!
Definitely does not suck!
I was waiting for little tiny brookies ...Ya those are monsters...good deal.
Lol, almost got the important body part. Close one. I fall all the time. Thx for being so real.
Haha...for real, that was a scary moment! Thx man, definitely gonna be me...falls, fails and some fishing too!
Love those small streams you fish!

Beautiful landscape, amazing trout, smart release but please , after cleaning your shoes with soap , always rinse em to keep standing !

Thank u man, plans are in motion...just need states to stay open for travelers!
Great video! Bring those brookies and browns home for dinner. They’re destroying all the Cutthroats.

Lor_Outdoors
I did not know they were such a problem😳🤦♂️
'Big River' drainage?
the only thing missing is watching you fry up a couple wild trout for dinner!.......great videos
Thank u. Never been my thing, mostly just to lazy to cook anything. Fish, drink beer and sleep lol!
@@LooknFishy LOL........man must eat a few wild trout!!......its part of the cycle!!.....

Eating shit in the water is just another day fly fishing lmfao!
...every single trip lol!
The best! 👌❤👏
Sure appreciate it man!
Rattlesnakes and bears but the almighty log was the one that almost got ya lol
Haha, it was and my life flashed before my eyes as it was happening!

Right on, always good to hear a tale!
This guy could catch more trout from a toilet than I would at a hatchery pond.

Thank u, guess that's the benefit of getting old and fishing alot. Man, u really can't go wrong anywhere in that area!
just subscribed awesome stuff. What do you do for water when hiking in long distances to those streams? Do you have a filtered water bottle ect?
Thank you! I carry a sawyer water filter. It attaches to most plastic water bottles and you squeeze the water through it into nalgene water bottle. You can see it in the Hiking Weminuche video. It's about the size of a table size salt shaker.
What size dry fly are you using on those little creeks like that?
Sz 14 mostly.
What is the red thing hanging off your shoulder
My tippet spool.
Beautiful trout and beautiful place....what is your rod and reel set up?
Thank u, orvis 7.5ft superfine carbon 3 wt and battenkill reel!
Love the superfine!
Drew....what pistol do you carry for the bear?
Ruger gp100 but I carry spray also!
Another BEAUTIFUL wee stream! Tell me, do you carry any 'anit-bear' precautions?
You know it. Bear spray on my left. 357 on my right!
That's some scary cookie dough to find in the forest! XD
Being as remote as I was, seeing another person would have been way scarier, lol!
... Especially if they were doing what the bear was doing! XD
haha very true!
is that rod a 2WT or 3WT?
3wt!
@@LooknFishy Thanks!
If it ain’t snakes,it’s bears
dream
I get it!
It would be helpful if you mentioned what flys you are using
Started adding them. The fly in this vid was my top shelf hopper sz14. It's in the dry fly fishing wyoming video and in my tying videos.
Rip favorite shorts. But u got to keep your junk!
Like watching ur life flash in an instant as I was falling back and knew what I was landing on lol. There magic pants lol!

Hi! im about to be going to southern CO in a week or so! Can i ask what creek this is?
lol dang I hate those stupid rattlesnakes have messed up some pretty good fishing trips by running into those things.
2 rattlesnakes before 10am = beer time for me lol!
Cant you show fishing instead of catching .? Vid gets a 3 .
I thought it was both lol!...3/3 or...
