PRP and prolotherapy are great treatments for SI (sacroiliac) joint pain and dysfunction. SI joint ligaments are often involved, these can be treated with PRP and prolotherapy. L5 and the ililumbar ligaments often need to be treated as these can be involved in SI joint pain.

Dr. Klisiewicz, do you ever inject PRP into nerves for severe cases? Would this be better than injecting around them?
I use PRP injections as a treatment for nerve injuries (neuropathy). I inject around the nerves, but at times I also carefully inject into the nerve, this is an advanced technique and should not be tried without experience. May i ask, how can intradiscal prp heal lumbar dessicated disc with radiculopathy? How long will a dessicated disc stabilize after intradiscal prp? Thank you.
Bone marrow stem cells are best for treating dessicated and degenerated lumbar discs with or without radiculopathy. The stem cells and other products such as fibrin can help treat the tears in the disc, making the disc healthier. If there is a large herniated disc that is pressing the nerve, then marrow stem cells or PRP injections in the disc are not the answer, but if the disc tear is causing the symptoms, then stem cells and PRP can help with the chemical radiculopathy (sciatica).

Can PRP be injected into C5/6 disc? Is this done with xray and ultrasound?
