Got mine yesterday and I love it. No problems with mine you might have been a little unlucky with yours. I also have this watch in rose gold on a black rubber strap.
I bought the Seastar 1K and it keeps perfect time. I don't have the issue with the misaligned date so I'm thinking you just got something that slipped through the cracks. I was very happy that my date window was color-matched to the black dial.
It's a big issue with these Powermatic 80 movements because they use plastic escapement. The movement that Tissot usually uses is C07.111 (modified eta 2824-2) which has plastic pallet forks. For example, Hamilton H10 uses ETA C07.611 which has regular metallic pallet forks with 2 more jewels (also a modified eta 2824-2). You can easily recognize these movements by the number of jewels: 23 means plastic escapement. 25 is normal metallic. That's why the movement in Hamiltons don't have these issues.
Thats very interesting and disappointing to hear. Let me ask you a question… is that why the Timegrapher always shows an erratic beat error? When I put my ear up to the movement it’s very inconsistent and can see why the number is high and then 0.0 another second.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews These free sprung movements have a higher beat error and can look a bit erratic on the timegrapher, but can also keep a very accurate time. In your particular case, I really don't know. Your movement definitely has some issues. Usually, if you get a good movement from the start, you will be happy with it. If you don't...
It is not really a misalignment since every Seastar has this issue including my last gen one. It's a straight design flaw. I think the only fix would be to make the font smaller. Cant believe they didn't fix it. So far my powermatics have been crazy accurate
Thanks for the feedback Todd. I’m not as bothered with the misalignment as I am with the time keeping. So if I get another misaligned date, I’ll be happy. Thanks for sharing!
Hello. What is the important difference and which is the better watch in your opinion, Tissot Seastar 1000 Chronograph or Seastar 1000 Powermatic 80? Thanks in advance for your answer.
The biggest different is quartz vs. automatic. There’s advantages to each which I cannot get into here since it’s pretty in-depth. It comes down to personal preference. Do you need the chronograph function for anything? Do you prefer quartz over automatic? Could save money on the chronograph quartz if you don’t mind changing the battery every 2-5 years.
That watch definitely needs a warranty service. When I bought my Omega Seamaster Professional, it developed similar problems within the first month. The AD sent it back to Omega and it was returned running perfectly. I think, in my case, it was new old stock that had been sitting for a long time, not running. I wouldn’t thank that would be the case on a new model. I look forward to the full review.
I purchased a grey Seastar 1000 8 months ago. After 6 months of very light wearing, I could no longer wind the watch manually. Sent it to Tissot in Toronto for repairs over 2 months ago. Still waiting ...... If the watch isn't returned to me within the next couple of weeks, I'll have them return it to me as is and I'll arrange for repairs by a local watchmaker. Very disappointed in the powermatic 80 and in the warranty service from Swatch. Interestingly, the Mido gmt I purchased at the same time, with the same movement, developed the same issue. Still waiting for Swatch to repair that one as well.
That's a proper homage of an Oris Aquis, still better to save for the reral deal. One thing I have noticed is that, the lume pip at the 12 in the bezel is misalaigned. I'm still a Tissot skeptic!.
I actually like the Tissot Seastar and have wanted one for a while. I’m seeing the issues with it and fighting through it. We’ll see. Maybe the Aquis is the way to go at this point?!
Wow losing an hour a night! Yeah that misaligned date wheel is a problem! My OCD noticed it immediately lol. Glad you’ll be able to get a new one and I will be looking forward to the review! Case and bracelet on this one looks very cool! 😎🍻👍
I had to return mine It wasn't keeping time. If I didn't have my phone I would have been late to work multiple times. It was losing 5 to 10 minutes a day, then hours. I got a replacement and it was running 10 minutes fast this time, so I stopped winding it weekly and so far I haven't had an issue and it's been 3 weeks now.
I have the Silicium model of the previous SeaStar and it really doesn't lose time. But I was wondering if they ever planned to do the Silicium version with the new engraved ring.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews because not all SeaStars are Silicium. It was an upgraded version of the stock Powermatic80 movement. It has the silicone hairspring. Flip to the caseback and see if you can see a small “Si” medallion on the balance bridge area. That signifies a Silicium movement too.
The date issue would have been a deal breaker for me already. I have the Tissot PRX powermatic 80 and I have no issues at all. Maybe it’s just that particular watch with the issues
I’m simply sending it back for a replacement. We’ll see. I can overlook the date wheel since it not noticeable to anyone but me. Stay tuned. I have more updates to come.
Definitely a great looking watch design wise its bang on, shame about the time keeping issue returning a watch for any reason is always a bit of a downer & takes the shine off a little bit. 21mm lug width.....ugh that is something that would possibly be a deal breaker for me.
I have a few watches with a 21mm lug width and they are a real challenge finding a decent aftermarket strap or bracelet but man, this watch is so nice! The watch feels and looks much more expensive than it is. It’s very Oris Aquis-like.
I’ve had a Tissot 220 prc for years it suffers the same problems as your seastar ( and prevented me buying a seastar and opting for the Hydroconquest) There appears to be a problem with the hands ‘sticking’ at certain hours. Thanks for a comprehensive ‘warts and all’ review and not just an ad
If anyone knows there Powermatic 80’s it’s you my friend!;) I think the one downfall with the movement is you can regulate it yourself? Anyway not amount of regulating is gonna chase an hour back!;) very Aquis looking this! 21 mm strap;( it is a nice looking baby! I bet you anything the strap width is by design! There will be rubber straps Tissot have made especially for this Seastar!;)
Yes sir my friend except for the fact I didn’t know the movement couldn’t be regulated. I thought that applied to the Swissmatic only. If that’s the case I have a few Hammy’s that have very similar movements to the Powermatic. I would assume the same applies re: no regulation?
The misaligned date, is a common issue with the Seastar!... Mine is like this as well, but it doesn't bother me at all, so...!... I love mine, but it is a flawed watch, the action of the bezel is also lame, but it is a great piece in its own right!...
While I was watching the video it took me back to the time I ordered an Oris Aquis in the same colors. I was so stoked and the watch never arrived. I hope you can get the issues sorted, it's really a stunning watch. My guess is it took a few knocks enroute.
Bummer about the movement but at least you can take it back and get it resolved so That’s good. I didn’t notice the 2 peaking on the window there after you switched the date over to 29……..nice looking watch that’s for sure!!!

@@AvgJoeWatchReviews I'm pretty sure they are the same movement, I have the khaki king II. I'll have to research it more to see what's happening. I've now put mine in a winder so I don't have the issue. But yeah, once it winds down it loses about an hour overnight. Have you tried winding it again in the am to see if it starts keeping time after that?
@@jimg8887 I did and it repeats. I was thinking of sticking it in a winder but I shouldn’t have to. Something is wrong. I am putting it on a timegrapher on Fri and I’ll record my results and make a video on it.
I have a Khaki king mechanical and it is the worst watch I have. The strap is filthy, the case scratches looking at it, the glass reflects so much that you can't see the time, it doesn't charge 80 hours or as a joke and it takes like 30 seconds a day; my watchmaker has told me that it is impossible to adjust. Swatch group stuff sucks.
Interesting watch. It's a pleasant grey that appears to be in the PMS Cool Grey range. Maybe Cool Grey 9..... I would welcome the quirky date window if they're all like that. Solution for those with OCD is to wear it only on dates 1-8. I do like the bezel and how bold the text is with the debossing. Look forward to the review. Sorry for the quality issue with the movement.
Yes sir! It’s a calming gray indeed. I like your OCD solution. Luckily I don’t have it… otherwise I wouldn’t get a replacement. I hear they all have the date issue.
Hey Joe, so sorry that you're having these issues with your new Tissot. I agree you should send it back for a replacement. Just wondering...do you think the watch is magnetized? Aside from the noted issues, the watch is absolutely gorgeous. Hope you get this situation sorted out soon so that you can enjoy it. Looking forward to resolution and full review my friend. All the best and good luck.
I’ll discuss my reasons why I don’t think it’s magnetized in another video when I put it on a timegrapher. I suspected this but there is one huge tell that eliminated that possibility. Stay tuned for that! But good thinking, I have considered that.
Such a shame man sorry that you keep getting these bugs I’m pleased I got one in working order and still looking forward to the full “unbugged” review thanks for the update and I hope people don’t take a disliking to the watch based on this 🖤🙏🏿
I’m learning the limits of the Powermatic and it’s inability to be regulated but I haven’t lost love. Looking forward to the replacement and shooting more videos on it. Stay tuned bud.
True and I’ve thought about it BUT I like the look of the Tissot and have been impressed with my other Powermatic movement, my LeLocle. I like the ceramic and just the overall layout and look better than the Longines.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews True that, 100% about the look and what you personally like, most important of course. Well keep up the reviews for watches we can all afford, thanks!
I wish for Tissot to update all their quartz Seastar chronograph divers (including the Pepsi bezel variant) with a 1/100 second chapter ring, rebuildable D4S ETA 251.264 BE 1/10 second, ETA 251.264 AN 1/100 second. Instead of the disposable G10.212 The quartz Seastar chronograph uses the ETA G10.212 gearbox, it has 4 jewels, it's disposable, replacable, used in low-cost watches, not repairable, replacements are cheap, part of their Fashionline series. The 251.264 has 27 jewels, 7 hands, it's rebuildable, repairable, replacable, replacements are double the price of the G10.212, part of the Flatline series.
Thanks for the great video. I think from the ground up what is wrong with the clockwork. A night has 6 hours and losing 1 hour is strange. That means the clock has stopped. The one with the date window is also annoying. In Germany, this is called a Monday product 🤣 something like this can unfortunately also happen with a high-end watch. Otherwise, the upgrade from the Tissot Seastar 1000 was successful. When the new watch comes, you will be very happy if everything works fine.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews In any case, I'll stay tuned, you can bet 😊. By the way, I'll have my Seastar rebuilt. I think a different bezel could be used after 2 years. Just like yours in black ☺ I hope that Tissot can make my wish come true. 🙏🏼
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews Honestly, I don’t care what anyone says, hydro is a top notch wristwatch, period. My next order is going to be Seiko alpinist SBDC091 green dial, thicc one but very attractive, lug to lug is great, little stronger 39mm, all good. Feeling excited and looking forward to it! Ohh yeah, cyclop date lens also.
Hapoy New Year! Wow...I'd expect the sloppy work from Seiko..not Tissot! Why can just about all of the microbrands align things better than these long standing companies? Funny how the designers are so concerned about the proportions they "must" use 21mm lugs, but then they can't align things! Which is more important? Proportions or quality control? Maybe Omega and Zenith can get by with 21mm..at least their watches are always perfect. Totally inexcusable for a $700 watch!
Happy New Year! 21mm lugs wouldn’t be an issue if they were supported in the aftermarket. BUT because most watches are even numbered mm sizes I cannot blame the aftermarket. You’re right about quality control. Not so sure this time keeping issue is part of it though. I’ll explain more in a follow up video.
Shit happened always ... I have the seastar 2000 and runs fine ... no problem at all . Send it back to tissot . This can happened everywhere .. even in expensive car ... no big deal ... when company recognize their fault its OK for me
wow that would annoy me a lot and the date wheel is totally unacceptable I have a Tissot there Qc on this watch would make me not buy from them again great first look
the worker who didi it should have done better and he knew it!!! and besides, quality control....the guys at it were probably having good talking time when supposed to do it...but these things happen at any factory to tell the truth...and one more thing-the guys who sell it shouldnt send it to a customer at all-yet, they did...that's a raw capitalism my friend....
Damn, that's really bad. I bet you wake up proper confused by that. Shame really as the design is bang on, love the grey with the white too. So clean. But least you're getting it sorted out.
It must have stopped intermittently, because the seconds sweep in this video looks good. But maybe not. New business opportunity: manufacturing 21mm aftermarket straps!!!
Time to strap it on a tire! 😆 Just joking, I'd be not to pleased about an hour slow and the other issues. Please touch on the customer service experience in your follow up. Here's looking forward to a good resolution, because that is a beautiful watch! 😍 ⌚

Following Todd this date thing is a design flaw..........you get this with evey new watch. Unbelievable..........what kind of QC system allows for this kind of rejects ? Thanks for the "eye opener" Tissot is not for me !
It’s not magnetized. Stay tuned for a follow up where I’ll show you why it’s not and what it possibly could be. I put it on a timegrapher and well… the watch and the grapher both did some very strange things. Stay tuned.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews If you send it back to them they will "service" it, which generally means that they will replace the movement. If you look at the movement and compare it with a 2824-2, they removed the regulation pins because they set it with a laser in the factory. Whoa! That’s exactly what happens to mine. It ran perfect for a few days and once the watch drains and I wind it, it’s off again not keeping time.
I starting to see the limitations of these movements. Thanks for watching.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews ah...very interesting Joe. Now I'm really wanting to see where you're going with this analysis.... 🤔
I have the quartz seastar and no problems whatsoever, I guess the quartz are more reliable? Lol
To bad it need to be returned but hopefully the replacement is good to go. Nice looking watch though.
Thanks Bob. It saddens me because it’s such a beautiful piece and not cheap either!
The lume pip is also misaligned, imho the watch just looks terrible like quality
Looking forward to the full review and comparison whit the previous generation
The comparison is coming soon
6:04 both look to me like Submariner homages, especially the Tissot one.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews the quartz are really accurate in time, i have a seastar Quartz for 3 years, best watch I have for daily use.
Not a Seastar fan, even with the update, but it's a looks thing.
During shippy/ packaging the stud probably got nudged and deregulated it
I think the watch got magnetized in transport.
Very possible
Seems a bad treatment… Got this exact model. No date issue and amazing +2s / day accuracy 😀
I received a replacement that has similar specs. The old one was simply damaged.
For only a few hundred more you can get into a Longines Hydroconquest. A big step up.
@@moose7744 thanks my friend! Appreciate that.
I wish for Tissot to update all their quartz Seastar chronograph divers (including the Pepsi bezel variant) with a 1/100 second chapter ring, rebuildable D4S ETA 251.264 BE 1/10 second, ETA 251.264 AN 1/100 second.
Instead of the disposable G10.212
The quartz Seastar chronograph uses the ETA G10.212 gearbox, it has 4 jewels, it's disposable, replacable, used in low-cost watches, not repairable, replacements are cheap, part of their Fashionline series.
Thank you! Monday product 😂. Makes sense. Stay tuned my friend. There’s more to this story coming soon.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews In any case, I'll stay tuned, you can bet 😊. By the way, I'll have my Seastar rebuilt. I think a different bezel could be used after 2 years. Just like yours in black ☺ I hope that Tissot can make my wish come true. 🙏🏼
@@MikeMloungeMain good luck and I hope to see it. Follow me on IG and tag me: Avgjoewatchreviews
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews Thx 🙏🏼 Unfortunately, I haven't had bad experiences at IG anymore. If Tissot does it, I'll try to send you a photo. 😉
Hopefully they will make this right for you. Looking forward to the full review
I hope so too. Stay tuned bud.
The only reason I wanna buy this is because I don’t have enough money for the Omega Seamaster 300
I love Omega
This wouldn't be settling as this is an excellent watch. you won't be disappointed.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews bought Longines Hydroconquest 39mm hahaha
@@Almedin387 that’s awesome. I just bought the 41mm two tone hydro.
@@Almedin387 I’m with you. I march to the beat of my own drum.
I never cared for round "porthole" date windows. They look cheap, small, and the numbers always seem to be crammed in there, or misaligned.
Never thought of it that way. I like the look but don’t like the crammed or misalignment. Good point!
decoradet ceramic?
It’s ceramic yes.
Strong Oris vibe !
Couldn’t agree more
Hapoy New Year!
This can happened everywhere .. even in expensive car ... no big deal ... when company recognize their fault its OK for me
Couldn’t agree more.
wow that would annoy me a lot and the date wheel is totally unacceptable I have a Tissot there Qc on this watch would make me not buy from them again great first look
I think Tissot hired some of Seiko’s old QC guys 😂👍
Nice looking piece! Hopefully they'll send you a good replacement that's working properly with a good straight date!
🤞
the worker who didi it should have done better and he knew it!!! and besides, quality control....the guys at it were probably having good talking time when supposed to do it...but these things happen at any factory to tell the truth...and one more thing-the guys who sell it shouldnt send it to a customer at all-yet, they did...that's a raw capitalism my friend....
Damn, that's really bad. I bet you wake up proper confused by that. Shame really as the design is bang on, love the grey with the white too. So clean. But least you're getting it sorted out.
Stay tuned. I was thoroughly confused and when it happened the first time I figured I messed with the time for a photo.
It must have stopped intermittently, because the seconds sweep in this video looks good. But maybe not. New business opportunity: manufacturing 21mm aftermarket straps!!!
We’ll call the company 21 Only Straps! 😂 I’ll go out of business in less than a year.
Time to strap it on a tire! 😆 Just joking, I'd be not to pleased about an hour slow and the other issues. Please touch on the customer service experience in your follow up. Here's looking forward to a good resolution, because that is a beautiful watch! 😍 ⌚
I may be strapping on an automatic watch to a tire this year. I have some ideas for a new destructive video.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews There's an 'Antique Mall'a couple miles away from me selling old G-Shocks on the cheap. Like, $10-20. Let me know if you need more ammo. 😆
Great looker BUT what a shame: A watch that doesn´t do it´s job right + a misaligned date wheel. A deal breaker for me ! Following Todd this date thing is a design flaw..........you get this with evey new watch. Unbelievable..........what kind of QC system allows for this kind of rejects ? Thanks for the "eye opener" Tissot is not for me !
Total bummer. Yeah, I heard that Tissot has the date wheel issues with the Seastars. Disappointed indeed. Thanks for watching.
i have this watch and love it
he forgot the fact that he travelled to another destination with 1 hr time difference...poor tissot got blamed
😂 good one ☝️ Thanks for the laugh.
lol probably was daylight savings time n not the watch
😂 now that’s a complication I’ve only seen on G-Shocks!
That's unfortunate 😕
Thanks buddy.
You can always buy a Rolex Submariner, guess you won't nag on that one 🤣
Wouldn’t call it “nagging” if you buy a new watch that doesn’t keep time. It’s a minimal expectation.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews Agree, you have warranty so have it replaced.
I got a Submariner, all perfect 👍🏻💪🏼😀
It doesn’t matter what you feel or think.
Yet you tuned in anyway to find out how I felt and thought.
Yeah. Had to conclude after hearing your thoughts. Your feelings or thoughts. Don’t matter.
Tissot is great company

984 feet! Not 1000!
You’re absolutely correct! 300m is indeed 984ft.
Might be fake
You know… you could be right. That’s why we purchased the replacement from Tissot to avoid any doubts.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews the thickness mentioned on tissot is 12.7mm
it means no power
Totally careless quality control from Tissot. Not good.
Regarding the date wheel, I agree. I’m against the wall though about the movement and whether this was simply due to mishandling during shipping?
One hour in 24 hours? Is a joke ?
My Is perfect
Just demag it
It’s not magnetized. Stay tuned for a follow up where I’ll show you why it’s not and what it possibly could be. I put it on a timegrapher and well… the watch and the grapher both did some very strange things. Stay tuned.
I lose an hour of time once every year It's no big deal. lol
Too big for regular folks.
I’d say if you have a wrist under 7” then yes, it may be too large.
Uh ohhhh 😂
😬😢
One of the reasons that I don't like the Powermatic 80 is because of the fact that it can't be adjusted -- ever.
Ouch! Yeah, that’s a real bummer indeed. So are they not serviceable like their V8 Swissmatic movements?
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews If you send it back to them they will "service" it, which generally means that they will replace the movement. If you look at the movement and compare it with a 2824-2, they removed the regulation pins because they set it with a laser in the factory. It's fine -- until the watch gets jostled and banged around.
@@LTC_Tiger very helpful. Thank you. I learn a lot from you guys.
@@AvgJoeWatchReviews No problem. Another reason to dislike the base model Powermatics is that the escape wheel is made of plastic. Yuck.
