- Residents want them. Cities can’t build them fast enough. But some folks living next to a pickleball court in Tooele County say it’s a nightmare.

I find it verrrrrrry hard to believe that no one expressed concern prior. It's truly amazing that anyone would support a sport like this that creates so many problems for others.
They built a 4 court pickleball facility in our neighborhood 2 years ago literally behind the back fences of a bunch of houses in our neighborhood. My wife thought I was overblowing the pickleball noise stories that are out there until she met someone that just moved a few months ago from one of those houses to further back in the neighborhood where we live. They literally moved to get away from the noise and said it was the best thing they have ever done. The husband worked from home and couldn't focus from all the loud pinging. They couldn't sit in their backyard without piercing noises. My opinion is that all pickleball courts within a couple hundred feet of homes should have noise walls to keep as much of the noise in the court area as possible. That loud ping ping from 4 courts IS NOT the dull thud of one tennis court with a ball being hit less frequently. NOT EVEN CLOSE! Luckily we only very slightly hear the noise in our backyard in the winter when there aren't leaves on trees and you get the tunneling effect from the cold air.
Build pickle ball courts next to those board members homes!
With 30 acres there has to be a better place. Where is the city manager
There are a lot of local ordinances people need to look into.
Omg....this would drive me insane, especially if its being used every day....its like having a pickleball tournament....in you your backyard....every....single....day. ....this would drive me insane!
Politicians are the freaking worst. Liars.
*NIMBY! Put them in the vacant stores at the malls!*
The problem is, people don’t understand what a pickleball court MEANS
I love pickleball and recreational activities and parks. I think there could have been a better placement of these courts in such a large park.
That noise can drive you crazy ......
Pickleball reduces obesity.
Corny game for ppl who can’t play tennis
@y0shik0ry Eh, tennis is just too boring, old and stuffy for most people
@@AC-im4hi nah not at all. inner city vibes where i play. think nba meets tennis. thats how it is around atlanta. loud music on the courts where i play.
100 feet is nothing. Other towns are 300 or 400 feet.
Where do they go? How about 100ft away from peoples fences like it says in the paperwork.
If the noise is within the guidelines why is there a complaint? No resident complaints before they were built, then don’t complain after.
It’s the equivalent of having a barking dog next door. Imagine, you buy a house as a financial investment and now it’s depreciating.
Housing value will Tank
Planners dropped the ball on this one. Remove the lights and that will stop the playing at dusk. The noise? Ugh, lock the gates at certain times.
How hard would it be to re-engineer the ball and paddles to reduce the noise? I can think of a dozen ways without even trying. Also, 10:00 at night is far too late.
Same as Basketball. Loud Seconds Non Stop Unrestrained Ball Noises, Crowds Noises, War Zone Noises (Dong Bang Thang Arrrh!), Piling Works Sounds (Dong! Dong! Dong!), Shoes Sharp Sounds (Chit! Chit! Chit!), Screamings, Yelling Loudly, Loud Goal Clappings....OVER 20 TYPES OF LOUD NOISES. What they can do is civil court remove, allocation outskirt area or sound proof building. Yes you can win in the civil court case. Residential Area is a sensitive zone (24 Hours Noiseless Activities Only) Distance 164 feet 1. Environment US (Noise Not More Than 35 dBA) Malaysia (Noise Not More than 55 dBA) 2. Background Sound (Not more than 15 dBA). Repetitive Noises (Non stop noisees) is consider Background Sound. Yes! No body should put up with Selfish Acts. The property will be stuck, you can't sell. Elderly and home owners will be stuck with their assets can't liquidate to money. File a civil suit in the court to close the court, change to badminton game.
Is there a dorkier looking sport than pickleball?
Pickleball and the players are annoying. The people who play it are unhealthy.
At night glow in the dark pickle ball and put velvet on paddles.😄
Who is playing pickleball in the middle of the night while most people are sleeping? Pickleball courts should close at 9pm. Problem solved.
@@Scorch1028 Or earlier.
@@Scorch1028vampires deserve to play too you bigot!
Torture.
This guy looks like Tennis Player Jack Sock who recently switched over to Pickleball
Negative News Agency.
Stop crying.... let them play
Pretty sure they could sell their homes fast to pickleball avid players lol!
I do not feel sorry for these neighbours!! A bunch of Karens in my view!! Btw, Pickle Ball is Lame!!
Compared to Ukraine I don't think its that bad.
why people like you exist?
is this tennis? I only know and ping pong. This something new? I love the sound of the balls.
It's tennis on a badminton sized court with solid surface paddles used to hit a wiffle ball. It's been around since the 1960's but only popularized in the last 4-5 years. Easier to learn and arguably more socialized fun than any other racquet sport but I can understand why neighboring houses would be concerned about the noise.
@@DaveLL500 looks like fun
nope it no bother for me.
Green rain
Better than drugs, crime, or violence, or homelessness I suppose. Blame the City Management for allowing this to be built to closely. Why did the residents not speak up during the public meetings? Other than that, this complaining seems over the top.
try LIVING next to a pb court, u will change your mind quickly.
Get off my lawn type of people 🤦🏾
Would they rather them be on the streets doing drugs i mean come on people there living out ear plugs in ear phones get a life
What a strawman argument.
ha? interesting.
Dude lives right next to a road that leads to a Walmart warehouse. The trucks that pass by are way more repetitive, way more loud.
The agency offered to help with blackout curtains and have really tried to placate him.
This weekend the city was running a festival and as part of it there was a pickleball tournament
this guy played Baby shark on loop from 3 pm Friday to at least 12:30 pm Saturday afternoon and came out on to his balcony flipping everyone off before mooning everyone.
He’s miserable. It’s sad. But his lack of decency makes him hard to sympathize with
why should you be a prisoner in your own home. This isnt government housing your home should be a place of peace and quiet even when near some amenities area. These players are loud talking and add to the noise and IMO are really inconsiderate of people adjacent to these courts.
1 world problems! People staving and y’all got the gall to show this in TV y’all should be ashamed of yourselves
I would say to the neighbors, if u cant beat em, join em. I rather see them playing pickleball, rather than doing undesirable things
That’s not the argument being made. Just cause you enjoy playing doesn’t mean the noise all of a sudden drowns out.
@@KarmaticEvolution u have a point.
This is why you don't buy a home or build one next to a park, any utilities, power, gas, phone, schools, roads, highways, city or government properties. Just cause your other side of the fence is a park common sense tells you that it will have noise and can change any time. People. Yes I image that the noise can be out of control but your the one that decided to live next to it. That's like saying I moved next door to a airport or airforce base and complain about the jet noise.
you realize how dumb your comment is, right?
The homeowners had a chance to voice their opposition when the courts were in the planning stages but didn't care. Now they care. Live with it crybabies. Pickleball forever!
Yeah I have no pitty for these homeowners. It’s a public service, if you don’t like it just move.
Complaining about noise of pickleball courts when there’s millions of houses right next to insanely loud roads. No pitty at all from me.
Bad analogy. The gentleman in the video built his house FIRST. Then they put courts right behind it. That's on that committee, not him. If the road is there first and you decide to build next to it, that's on YOU. The road was there first.
Stay off my lawn!!!
Suck it up or move! LOL
Play a real sport you old fart
If you built a house and then they built a court right behind it you'd be singing another tune.
@@bigredracingdog466 No, like I said, stay or move, that's your options.
@randy74989 play a real sport you old fart
@@ingridfitz5677 Well, you don't build nor buy a house close to a tennis or pickleball court. I have one down the street about 15 houses from me and I can't hear them playing at all.
