Staff duty can suck here's a mini story I got stuck on staff duty with that one NCO -_- had me studying weapons systems the whole time then at night I picked up cigarette buds outta the company parking lot and barracks parking lot all night the morning comes and I had to direct traffic for the PT runners then I went home the guys who relieved us slept the whole time so u get to see the difference between who u get stuck with

No, but youll have money so long as you understand and care for your personal finances. Youll be away from your kid 6-12 months every year and a half or so, youll be in the field from 1-4 weeks every other month or so and possibly have workdays that stretch from 5/6am to 4-9pm depending on your unit.
USMC here, morning PT, sometimes no time for chow/food. Sit in rooms all day or train in the immediate area mostly, if not in the field or on a range. Final formation and were cut for the day. Then you do whatever you want in the local area or even not local (so long as you are available for accountability the next day)
The second you said "staff duty", I got a facial tick. Company CQ was bad enough, but Battalion or Regimental Staff Duty was just some next level bullshit. I always seemed to get it on weekends.

Are there many differences between American Basic Training and Australian Basic Training i want to go to Kapooka and i have been researching, watching vlogs, studying practice aptitude tests, ive also done the ASVAB practice tests but am not sure if they are relevant to the Australian Infantry, I weigh 58kg and am training in fitness aswell, Im looking for all the knowledge i can to help me get through basic training.
I would think they would have a bunch of similarities but, they will most likely be different when it comes to training on tactics that your army uses specifically.
You're going to have differences in the way it's ran, and the way you do certain things but, yes I would say there are going to be a lot of similarities.

I was Air Defence Artillery (16S). Garrison life was similar. Motor pool for PMCS, common task training, cleaning stuff, equipment layouts, etc.

I think you have to have a college degree and get a sponsor to become an officer. That or go to a military college as a cadet and go that route.
