Nice work I have the guts to the Crites Speaker Type CS Style D Pair of Faital Pro HF140 Drivers Pair of Faital Pro LTH142 (Tractrix) horns Pair of midrange horn/driver support brackets and pair of 1.4 inch gaskets Pair of CW1526CF woofers Pair of CS500 Crossovers Figuring out the cabinets for the 15 inch woofers Horns going on top of the cabinet along with the crossovers I personally like the live cabinets that Klipsch uses on the Heritage models Enjoying your content Thank You
Daniel, we’ve been dealing with the effects of UV exposure to art that has been in our family for a while, and I’ve recently become aware of the use of UV filtering film applied to windows to mitigate, though not eliminate, such damage. I look forward to seeing the next phase in your Heresy modifications. I have a pair of Fortes, myself, which I’m enjoying very much, but I’m fascinated by Devin Turnbull’s description of the rationale for his work with two way designs, as opposed to the traditional Klipsch three way approach. All the best!
There's a big thread on making a "Super Heresey" in the Klispch forums. I did it a few years ago, and really like the results. It entails porting the rear panel, re-capping the cross over, switching out the woofer to an Eminance, and replacing the tweeter horn with a Crites aluminum one, It made a huge difference and I've really liked them, but... I've been thinking about what to do next, so I'll be interested in seeing your next video! Cheers!
Instead, just build good speakers from scratch. There are so many good diy designs already. I really dont understand people who pay a lot for a bad sounding speaker and mod it to sound better. It never will be as good as new design, with better speakers properly applied, not to mention 2x cost or even more....
Hi, thank you for sharing. Yes! I’ve heard about the super heresy’s. Since I’ve been unable to find a single audiophile who made an attempt to do what I’m doing, this should be quite interesting to consider how this will compare. Stay tuned 😊
Klipsch Tangent 500s are basically Heresy 2 in large ported cabinets. Same driver complement. I have heard them, my Forte Is have better bass at higher DBS as the Heresy 2 woofer has a smaller Xmax IIRC.
Firstly, I really enjoy your videos. I especially liked your Dynaco series. I have the Crites crossovers in my Forte ii’s and like them. I tried the titanium diaphrams however I found them to be too sibilant even with tubes. A cymbal just didn’t sound as it should. I put the phenolic back in and bliss is back. Just thought I’d share my experience with them because it seems most people report liking the titanium.
On my forte ones, they are braised they are lined with JR research no rez, the horns have been damped with Dynamat, The speaker frames have been damped with Dynamat. I upgraded the crossovers from crites to the new GR research design which did phenomenal things to the sound stage and bass. I am as we speak working on installing the Lmahl machined aluminum horn lenses with B&C DE10 tweeters. I am not after the originality but I Love the dynamics and efficiency of the speaker and every change I've made has taken it way further down the line of soundstage imaging and detail retrieval.
@drde4010 yeah they can go a long way, if you've got them taken apart like that I would really consider doing some corner bracing and lining them with the GR research no rez, really cleans things up. I just got those LMAHL tweeters installed last night and I've been breaking them in overnight. That really added a level of refinements and detail and sweetness to the top end that I didn't think could come out of those speakers, and the GR research crossovers fix some phasing issues and really give you a deep soundstage.
Nice. I have a pair of Heresey 1 from 1979 in walnut. The drivers are all original, however I upgraded the caps, internal wires, and binding posts. I'm happy with the sound, but I would love to do a cabinet with a ported 15 and an Altec horn on top. Looking forward to see what you do. Ports???
How are you using the sub with the Dynaco? Curious how you’re hooking that up. Just got mine from Kenny. Using vintage JBL L-100 centuries through a McIntosh MA 6200 for the pre.
Nice work

Thanks! That’s a lot of parts. 😊
Rip those crossovers out man, it's like driving with the handbrake on.
Exactly. Iron core inductors and electrolytic caps are BAD!
Staying tuned!!!

Interesting that you mentioned this because we are having new windows installed in the spring. 😊

@@yellow_noise3 $500 for a used pair of 1981 heresy is not a lot. Didn’t have any woodworking tools at the time.. may be now you understand.
@@drde4010 looking forward to it!

Always interesting!
Might that heresy box benefit from a little bracing?
Totally, seems to be a common problem with Klipsch and JBL speakers, especially vintage.
I think you’ll be in for a bit of a surprise. I’m hoping you’ll see the follow-up video.
Im tuned in...

Awesome 😎📢
Thanks. 🤘
Hey, those look like my Monacor SPH-300TC, ( or MONACOR SPH-315 ?).
Yea quite similar. Stay tuned because I’ll be following up with some alteration’s.

Have a look at my review here. If you skim through, I explain how it’s connected. ua-cam.com/video/imM84lQw6Ng/v-deo.html
@ Thanks man! Happy Holidays 🙏
I built my own pair with better drivers than are in the Ojis and built my own crossovers they sound amazing with all types of amplifiers
What did you build?
While you're in there, maybe some bracing and sound absorption?
Yes a few things are being added. Thanks for sharing. 😊
