So glad I found this because I was freaking out. My gum where one of my wisdom tooth was taken out a few years ago had gotten so swollen for weeks and today a piece of tooth just fell out. I'm glad I found this video. I don't have dentures but this really helped :-)

pretty unprofessional job to leave fragment after an extraction! I feel the surgeon should remove or file right afterwards and not hope on the gum covering it shit is annoying
That's the way I think too. I had a back molar pulled years ago & started having pain when chewing. Find out the Dent. left a large root behind in my gum. I'm like even I know there are normaly 4 roots on a molar. So he must of known one was left in my gum.. Unreal. Guess they think it's ok to leave pieces of tooth, to make us have to come back & pay more!!
4 yrs ago I had my top molar's removed wore my partial for 2 weeks as I normally don't now I have a large piece of fragment with a hole in the roof of my mouth hurt's like a mf it's been 2 week's not to mention the unsightly partial Im left to wear its like putting a spoon in my mouth and wearing all day ..
They usually do it when your teeth are pulled. Unfortunately they didn’t do it, I now need to have them removed.
Thanks for the explanation on bone spurs teeth slivers. 3 dentist visits with gum pain & feeling like sharp hard point under the gum, 2 yrs after extraction & still nothing from him like you just explained.
Barry, what is the difference between bone spurs on the gum after extractions, and a canine eminence? Will the eminence go away over time, and should a denture adjustment totally eliminate the pain and discomfort?

can I ask you a question Barry ? about 2 weeks ago I had a full mouth extraction done and I have spurs ! I think my oral surgeon is going to remove them before I get fitted for dentures ! what I wanted to ask you, if you don't mind, is do most oral surgeon shape up your gums and remove spurs before getting fitted with dentures ? thanks Barry !

Hello Dr , I had my Tooth #30 removed due to severe root canal peri apical infection. According to my dentist my lingual wall was completely gone . He put some DBM putty bone graft with proper membrane covering for bone loss restoration . Everything healed up very well without any infection but I have developed a very small LMS ( lingual mandibular sequestrations ) , exactly right in the location that I had my fistula canal developed by tooth infection. Don o think this could be a result of bone grafting or damaged wall during extraction ?
So happy this question was asked. Exactly what I wanted to know. I had all my teeth extracted a few months ago. Bottom and Top separate times. On top ,after a couple of weeks noticed something sharp bothering me. Ran my finger across my gum and the whole front part had lots of small bones stick out. Went back to dentist. To which my gums had to be cut open again and file down. That was extremely painful. At my follow up, mentioned I could feel a tiny bone sticking out, so I broke off with tweezers, but could still feel a little piece. He said they could cut it open again or let it come out on its on. I sure did say " hell no, let it come out on its on ". I didn't want to go thru that pain again.
Have my dentures and it does bother me very slightly, but will adjust that little spot.

The same happened to me and I wondered why the dentist could not look for bone fragments, right after the extractions....maybe it is hard to see or find, so they wait and hope for the best. I am now charged more to remove a couple of these boney fragments. Maybe it is expected.......
@@linanicolia1363 I'm sure it happens. I did have a palatal torus remove, which was discover when they wanted to do impressions before removal of teeth. Which bone build up. That surgery was painful 😢 and he did say possibility of it growing back. It is growing again. Ugh dread that, when the time comes.
@justcallmemiss that's good, dear. Unfortunately, mine is getting bigger again 😕 , and my dentures are starting to feel uneven. Will deal with that sooner than expected.
Is there something I can do for pain while I'm waiting for my bone spur to comes out or is reabsorb like a cushion or patch to go between my dentures and my bone spur?
Hello Dr. Berry, my issue involve the gums. The best way to explain my situation is the feeling of splinters are lodged in my gums. I've had to have four teeth removed and the object only traveled more than relieved itself. It's painful and basically I've been dealing with this for 8 years. I've exhausted a whole lot of money and not one dentist have given me a diagnosis. Because it doesn't show up on the xrays, they believe it's more mental. If you have any knowledge of what's going on, please share it with me so that I can better explain to my dentist.
Thx for this video, im almost months post op and had my whole top removed, theres a small point thats poking through on my right side.... but its too small for me too drip it... will it push through fully by itself and how will i know if its a lose shared or if its stucked too the jawbone
I have a bone spur and never had a tooth pulled in that area. I have a large filling in the tooth where the piece of bone spur is coming through the gum. It is extremely painful and causing the tooth to ache as well. I have been taking Tylenol. The dentist told me to massage the area a few times a day it should help if not it can be filed down.
Any other suggestions to help with pain?
Hi Barry. Just last month I had all my teeth removed for dentures. I do have a terrible bone spur on my lower jaw on the right side. When I went in for my check up at the dental office they said that I could put pressure on it and move it back into place. I find this very hard to believe because my gums at this point are still very sore. I have been putting orajel on them and trying to push this bone back into place. So that they don't have to shave it down. Also how long does it take for your gums to completely heal. At this time I cannot see putting dentures in my mouth the pain would be unbearable. They haven't even taking the mold to make the teeth yet because of me not being able to move the bone spur back. So my question is. Is this true that you can push on a bone and move it back to where it was so it's not a bone spur. Because I have been pushing and pushing and it has not gone anywhere. Starting to get frustrated.
can I used a normal finger nail file to file down the sharp point on a bone spur??? It keeps pokeing through my gums but my dentists wont deal with it and the surgeon wants me to pay again to have it removed.

I’m having bone Spurs but I’ve never had any dental procedures. They’re coming out right behind my back bottom molars thru the side of my gums on the inside of my mouth. So they’re rubbing the side of my tongue. The first two were very small but now I have a third one that is a bit bigger I’m guessing around 1/8 inch wide and very thin and flat like a small disc. I’m not experiencing any pain or discomfort other than feeling the sharp edge on the side of my tongue. I don’t have any infections or cavities and I’m 48 years old and all my wisdom teeth have come in just fine decades ago. What could be causing this?

My question is if you have aveoloplasty after teeth extraction will that help with eliminating bone spurs or chips
I had all my adult teeth removed and some areas have bones coming up.
None of them are big so that seems to work in my favor by what was said so that is good.
Funny, you look like my Dentist. I have one pulled bottom next to right canine remaining. Sharp. I heard asst say under her breath Oh Sh*t when pulled April 3rd. First impression April 10th. Next appt May 22nd for next step. It is sharp. Do they x-ray again? Or dig it out? Two canines remain for a partial plus all top pulled. Horrible the waiting game healing and my canines dig into my upper gums. Two craters top left molars remaining. Is this normal?

Please Help!, i have a question. After getting my bottom teeth pulled out and bone grafts implanted by an oral surgeon, a bone spur has occurred from the implanted graft area.
Having had a different decent oral surgeon do my top teeth, I'd no issue.
The oral surgeon that created a bone spur on my bottom tooth, also mutilated by gums in one area. Surely, this isn't normal? I wore a denture right after surgery, and the bone spur was there since surgery. What do i do?
The dentist who sent me to the oral surgeons' initially claimed he didn't like the looks of the mutilated gum area. Weeks later he changed his story and blamed me for not wearing dentures. Which was obscene as i had been wearing them. I feel as if he was 'covering' for his buddy. Please help
Report him to the dental society and take him to court
I had this done after getting all my lower teeth pulled. My gum was so uneven and had bone spurs from getting teeth pulled out. They cut open the gum and clipped out a few painful bone spurs. Then jaw bone was filed smooth. Had about 10 stitches. Very sore the 1st 3 days after procedure. Stitches dissolved after 5 days and feeling fine. Jaw and gum is nice and smooth now. Ready for my implants and dentures.
My lower left molar spur will have to be filed down as well. A little spur did fall out last week that was cutting the bottom of my tongue (painful). Dentist told my it needed to be filed down more otherwise he can't put my snap ins on. so back to surgery I go, ugh.

I had all my teeth extracted on Oct/13/2021. Thursday evening I noticed two bone slivers in my upper gum.
I am seeing my dentist on Oct/17/2021.
Should I be concerned? Should the dentist file them down? Should I let the bone slivers work themselves out? Will it bother my temporary dentures?

I have been in my immediate dentures and it is now 2023.
No insurance, life, I lived with these Tori bones, and whenever an adjustment was done by dentist he would just adjust the denture to accommodate these Tori.
I see a dentist this week, on Thursday 2-9-23. It is also my 65th birthday.
I’m going as I can get my permanent dentures… but now I’m afraid these Tori will need removal. Am I thinking the right direction? Do they need to come out after all these years?

I had all of my top teeth removed about a week ago . And I was running my tongue along the side of gums where the last tooth in the back was removed and it felt like I was popping or cracking something in gum. Bot in the socket but the side of the gum. I go in to dentist tommrow for immediate denture reline, which I haven't been wearing cause I took them out first night cause I got nasuated from the pain and and pain meds and didn't want to drop uh teeth in toilet and wasnt able to put them back in cause of swelling. . Anyways what is the cracking or clicking when I put pressure with tongue on side of gum doesn't hurt really
Well I had a full extraction 3 months ago and the temp dentures never fit from day one. I couldn't close my mouth with them in even after several adjustments. They put so much pressure on my top molar extraction sockets that I cracked the bone socket on the inside roof pallet and that long sharp spur is floating around under the gum up there. My new dentist made me a set that fits me to relieve the Mr. Ed and rear jaw closure issues I had. Now I have only a small tip of the broken up socket bone that has cut a hole and it has began to stick out of top pallet. I can tell when it turns in ward and is in the extraction area or when it shrinks to make it stuck on top of the bone it chipped away from. I have swelling and the shifting around is so painful I can't put my top in anymore. Is this something you would be surgically removed? I need to get on with life and not being able to put my dentures in has me unwilling to leave my house or even talk to people.

Just got my teeth extracted got a couple chips out before they healed over but have one spur on my bottom jaw feels like a small piece of glass trough my gums ! after work im gona put a small screw driver on it and tap it with a butter knife handle to break it off !

I have a partial top denture and there is gap the size of the tip of my pinky finger between the denture and the roof of my mouth and I can not wear it cause of it sitting so low

Sure this is what I have after 2 molar extractions about a month ago. What looks like sharp slithers working their way out of the side of the gum. I was told to rinse regularly (about 3 times a day) with half a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water and they will eventually work their way out themselves.
Getting mine removed but it's pretty swollen and big.
Yeah it's total BS I paid for extraction of the tooth and you just leave pieces of it in my gums WTF
Fuck that! Excuse my language but I’m in the same position I had my bottom 2 wisdom teeth extracted a month ago and now there’s a big sharp piece of bone sticking out of my gums. I told them that I’m not going to wait for it to work its way out because it hurt like a bitch. So I’m going to get it removed this week. They wanted me to wait but I’m not waiting you did this to me so you make it right.
I have so many in my mouth after full extraction. I have pieces everywhere and skin around it is painful. The holes r not healing fully like others r.u can see it at the top of the extraction site. There's no way i can be fitted with those in there.
I had a huge bone shard work it's way out of the empty socket years after the tooth was taken out. I have a bone shard right now rubbing on my brand new dentures... agony... I've had 8 teeth out recently from mid December to mid March so expecting so settling in time for the new partial denture... but dam... it's agony

I just had one work its self to the surface last night 3 years after I got all my teeth removed and dentures put in. I couldnt eat for a month. I thought it was a denture sore and now know i was wrong. I did get my denture adjusted and relieved the pressure a bit. But am back to almost chewing fully and little pain. Just a little sore.

i had quite a large one and my dentist said you cant wear a denture with that bumb. So he numbed up my gum and clipped it off with dental clippers. It was painless but he really had to scrape and clip off alot of my jawbone so my parrtial could fit properly over my gums.

mine feels like a bone spur but it feels real thick and big and doesn't want to move or come out at all the other bone spur popped right out when I massaged it in a circle and brushed it with my toothbrush and it felt like a little piece of a tooth it was little it was round and hard as a rock harder than a rock actually but the other one that I have just doesn't want to seem to come out I just don't understand this and it feels much bigger than the other one did
I have a Tori on the roof of my mouth, do I have to get it shaved off in order to get a full denture. I would like to get a horseshoe denture and not get it shaved off. Is this an option without getting implants?

Hi my name is Clarissa and I have a question so I have this Gap in my mouth I used to have a baby tooth there and the Gap is really bothering me and the dentist I had to go to they said if it would move remove some of the bone to push it together now if you get that surgery done is it going to hurt because I'm in a lot of pain right now because where the baby tooth was it's like pushing forwards and it's hurting a lot and it's like giving me headaches and I'm not sure if that's normal

I'm 6 yes out and have had 2 root tips in the last 2 yrs. I still have one in and they argue with me everytime. I hate my dentures they can't get them to fit right at all.

this is my SECOND time having to go back in a week due to splinter.....he said it may grow back over time but not in one week! I cough a lot from smoking medical cannabis so I think its pushing the bone up and irritating me

@@madonsport9214 I can fill in here had my wisdom teeth (upper) taken out at MCRDSD really recommend having the taken out before hand. In any case if they are a loose tooth chip or sliver of bone from around the socket where the bone is. the gums will force it out them selves over weeks or months, in my case about a month later I started to feel them being pushed out.
I was supposed to have 4 quadrants of Alveoloplasty at the same time as my extractions (I paid for it anyway) and the surgeon skipped the whole entire top front section, and now I have a bunch of lumpy excess bone and spurs. I'm pretty sure my dentist will tell me I need to have it shaved down, when I already was supposed to have that done, and I'm feeling kinda irked. 😐
It's all well and good to say they will work they're way out but I'm having a visit to dentist to have mine sorted, we have teeth out to cure a problem but when you have spurs or tooth splinters that are painful you have cured one problem but caused another, I had teeth removed to be pain free but now I have to go back to the dentist to sort another problem out.

It was discovered after my 17 extractions that a molar had come in crooked and the bone had grown around it. This has resulted in the bone is almost twice as thick on one side compared to the other. Surgery is an option, to shave down the bone. Implants would be less invasive, but insurance doesn't cover, and I can't afford them. I had resigned myself to adhesives, until I discovered the hard way that my lifelong "sensitivity" to band aids and patches resulted in a full blown allergic reaction when I used the denture adhesive. This sounds stupid, but is there a product that helps that isn't actually an adhesive? Sounds pretty counterproductive, I know.
+Kim Clark Hi Kim. If you are finding your dentures loose I would first suggest to either have them re-fitted(relined or rebased) or to have new dentures made. If you still desire a more secure fit after this is done your next option, taking into consideration your allergy to the adhesives, would be implants. The only other thing you could do is try different adhesives in the hopes that you find one that you don't have an allergic reaction to. I know this wouldn't be a very pleasant process though.

they came back after about 5 days. I also have one on the roof of my mouth on the left side. They arent as painful but they are there. Thank you for asking! To bad your not in oklahoma!!!
geneve lane Sometimes it takes more than one adjustment to make your dentures feel better from bone spurs or chips. If they're still hurting I'd call your dental office and make a appointment to have your dentures adjusted so you can be comfortable. And thanks. :) Maybe I should start a traveling practice. lol

7 month's after all my teeth have been removed I have noticed about 4 bone spurs in the same area.
They are slightly soar but that is about it.
Do I need to brush the spur?
I called my dentist today and they told me to wiggle the spurs and they should fall out. Told me I have to wait two weeks on my appointment day because they can't get me in any sooner. It's been almost 3 weeks of nothing but pain and misery. I sure hope this all ends soon.Thank you for this video
Most bone chips will come out on their own, eventually. Sometimes it’s within a few weeks, sometimes it’s months later. Even though most bone chips are relatively small most people will say that they feel quite large.

Why can't the dentists pull these out would be so simple for them instead they're forcing me yo try to pull the chunks out? What I don't understand is how you let me leave with all these pieces of the tooth jammed in my gums still I paid for extraction of the tooth I should receive a full extraction of the tooth including these pieces my tooth wasn't broke but the dentist decided to cut and break the tooth in order to get it out so now isn't that on the dentist to remove these shards

I had all teeth and wisdom removed last august.. I started to get big pieces of bone coming thru.. I still don’t have dentures and now I have to wait to see my surgeon to get it surgically removed in a couple places.. Im so tired.. I just want to get my dentures..
(You can skip down to last sentence if you just want to know what my question is) I had a deep cavity that had to go... then boom.. on day 3 a bone is on the edge of my gum. Went back to the dentist and long behold he cant just pull it out. He numbed me up 6x and I could still feel the excruciating pain of him twisting it and eventually chipping some off. . I have a throbbing headache stiff jaw. And I have to take a narcotic just to trick my brain into saying "what pain".. did I mention the ever present throbbing pain? I am not getting dentures. And im not sure if shaving my jaw is the best thing if im not getting dentures. Wouldnt it throw off my "bite"? I need this spur gone though 😢
I have gotten 14 bones spurs out of my My gums and I’m still continuing to get them out of my gum, This is three weeks after I had three teeth removed due to having them fractured
I ordered the Dental Tweezers From Amazon and I’m able to get in there further to get them out can tell you that I have been in a lot of pain, crying, And my gums have even gotten Infected and my dentist did not care. I had to switch to another dentist in the middle of this because he told me my gums were too complicated and he cannot do anything else.
What do you do if your dentist is being very cooperative period you know you have the bones first but he keeps trying to shave away at the denture period😢
how do I know if this one is going to work its way out on its own it just feels too big it almost feels like oh yeah you have to go to the dentist for this one
I have two bone chips from an extraction on lower gum and are painful requiring Anbesol Analgesic and two 200 mg ibuprofen every four hours to relieve the pain ( as is no pressure) Dentist looked at it after day 25 and said it will eventually go away told me to be patient.
Meanwhile waiting for it to feel better what can I take for the pain and discomfort.

I have few bone pieces left, why do I get pus and infection ? I get amoxicillin soon as it ends my infection coming back! But bones makin they way up

I have it feels like my jawbone is coming through my gum where my wisdom tooth used to be right on the side of it it's really big and it's growing through the gum and it will not come out on its own I recently had the same thing on the left side but it was a lot smaller and it wiggled and I finally was able to get it out on my own but this one is much bigger and it feels like it's getting in the way and it's actually painful I'm wondering what can I do about it is there any way to get it out on my own or do I have to go to a dentist I'm so scared about that

Ok I know this was posted 8 years ago here's my story lmk your input.. this one took almost 4 months to surface; Had my tops extracted 6/29/22, bottoms 7/5/22. I'm in constant pain, I'm in more pain than I was before. I'm having severe problems with bone spurs. I'm like 1 month from getting my perms. Where I went will not pull any unless it's already out of the gum so they can grab it with tweezers. No one wants to touch it bc they didn't do it. Liabilities ya know? Ig idk. But I even called just this last Friday to every where I could contact and cried telling them I can't get help, I need help! and to tell you the truth. I think I would've backed out of I could do it over. The 1 bone spur that's been the biggest just came to the top a couple weeks ago but it's like flat. Can't get ahold of it at all with tweezers/ pliers etc. My Dr has kept me on antibiotics since July 18th. 😑 I regret doing it. It keeps my ear on that side hurting along with my neck down to my chest. I was basically butchered. Nearly 6 months and I'M STILL EATING SOFT foods and my self esteemand confidence was bad but now I have none. I stay hungry and in pain. Crying every day, severely depressed. Already had problems with depression and anxiety and this has made everything worse. Affordable needs shut down if they're going to treat patients like this. I really really hope karma gets them soon. No one absolutely no one should have to go through what I am!

hello! thank you for the info! I have a few questions, can a person get spurs when wisdom teeth are growing? About 4 years ago, I found out I had 6 wisdom teeth. two on each side of the top back of my mouth and one on each side of the bottom back. now the top ones was hurting like hell cause they were both trying to grow out and there wasn't any space for them. so the dentist took out all four of the top ones. he said that the bottom two ones was too close to my jaw and that if I wanted to take them out I have to do it at a hospital just in case if my jaw accidentally cracked, and they'd have the tools to fix it in the hospital. I said ok, I'll just let them grow cause they'll be space for them to grow and I don't want to be under the knife again.
Fast forward to this week. I think I have 2 spurs growing on each inside of my gums where my wisdom teeth would be on the bottom. it hurts like hell, I'm scared to go to the dentist again for another operation. I thought it was my wisdom teeth and then I thought it can't be cause the teeth wouldn't be on the inside side of my gum near my tongue, and then I did some research online and searched youtube videos and found you. so it possible for a person to grow bone spurs before the wisdom teeth comes out? also what should I do let it grow and fall on its own or go to my dentist?

Sir, after wisdom tooth removal a small bone has grown inside my mouth due to which my tongue has bruised and it is very painful. Whenever I gulp something I feel the sharp bone and unable to eat anything. Can you help me with that what to do or not.
What did you end up doing I’m having the same issue post 3 weeks after bottom wisdom tooth removal and cut my tongue trying to eat several times first two weeks had nothing but soup so I didn’t feel anything but now I feel like I have to live off soup only
