I love the idea of walking into a lightly flooded area after heavy rain. Would be even cooler if the effect could be added indoors, like lightly flooded old houses

The general flatness of the ground is one of the areas where the game shows its age the most. I've found myself wishing for an upgrade like this multiple times over multiple playthroughs, and here it is! Glorious work, the rain shot for height based buildup looks absolutely amazing.
Is the LOD tweak yielding better performance as well or is it purely visual?

game is almost perfect only textures and models are old but its incredible work
Environmental textures are fine. The models and their animations are the only things holding the visuals back at this point. There's a russian mod being developed for the models that looks insane. I forget its name unfortunatelly. Hopefully it gets released before stalker 2.

Is this working with any texture pack or does this require a special one? I have to say it has NEVER been so worthy to patreon or Ko-fi someone than now. Your work is mind blowing! :)
Both shaders requires new textures, one for the LOD system and another with the height information for the parallax ( It also support the GTR style with the height info on the alpha channel ). I made textures for the vanilla maps, but you will need some new ones for any texture pack with terrain textures.

Is it possible to add a better anti-aliasing solution? Maybe something with a temporal component? It can be done with Reshade but that method is so expensive you might as well run the game at 4k. A modder was able to add TAA to Alien Isolation, which also has terrible shimmer, and it looks fantastic.

It depends on the hardware, on modern GPUs the performance is the same, but older GPUs can get a performance hit. But, I'm trying my best to keep things as optimized as possible.
@@ascii1457 Wait. I always thought Stalker runs solely on CPU. Did you manage to let the GPU process your shaders or does Stalker itself use the CPU as well? Btw I have a gtx 1660 ti mobile.

All the changes are just GPU related. The parallax shader can be heavy for older hardware.
Does this mean custom textures with parallax will be supported? How could this work, if at all? Great job as usual btw!
