    As per usual, your podcast was wonderful! Your enthusiasm and excitement for all that you are sharing with us is very motivating and contagious (for me)!
    I DO remember the "clap on, clap off" tv commercial for turning the lights on and off! So now we can sing "cast on, cast off" as we knit though our projects!!
    I love the latest socks that you shared here for your husband - the colours are bright and perfect for this wintry season.

    Another stellar podcast! Each episode, from beginning to end, is a delight 🤩 Of course, having been born during the 1950s, I remember the "clap on, clap off " commercials and lights. Just snuggle under your bed covers, at night, then clap the lights off!! As far as laughing until you cried, the word I would use to describe that feeling is euphoria 😂 My roommate in college, freshman year, was born with "overactive tear glands". As soon as she would start to laugh, both of her eyes would literally start to puddle with tears. She always carried a handkerchief or had tissues on hand, for such times! Thanks for that memory!

    You are so encouraging! I was listening to you during my morning chores, before school drop off, and immediately stopped to prep a focaccia. Thank you! We are going to have such a yummy dinner tonight.
    Belly laughs happen a lot over here :) I can only speak for my own culture and it seems to be shared in the culture I married into, but laughing is almost like a foundational element for my family systems. That probably sounds ridiculous to some but my family has been through a lot in this lifetime and I continually find myself grateful for all the laughter. It's almost spiritual at this point.

      LOVE!! Thank you for sharing Nico. I've got jalapeno cheddar bread proofing for tonight that I'll pair with a carrot and sauerkraut stew! Perfect winter meal. Love that you'll be having focaccia!!! I just absolutely love what you shared about laughter and your family and culture. So special. When I get together with family, it gets so loud because everyone is laughing and talking over each other. There is always tears-in-your-eyes laughing and it's just the best feeling ever!!! Take care!

    I always love the thought you put into your makes, and can’t wait to see the socks for your girls.
    I’ve had a lot of big belly laughs lately and mostly they have to do with my little one. He’s so unintentionally funny and even in moments of sleep deprivation, my husband and I can find the humor in the things he does.

    I do remember The Clapper!!! I also made up my own version when my children were babies and was snapping up or off their little onesies - of course I substituted clap for snap!! I’m also going to give you another little song to sing when tinking back to fix a mistake. I always sing the ‘very merry unknitting to me’ song from Alice in Wonderland!! It makes tinking fun!!

    ooooo I have the yarn tubing and also have the same issues with the join at the needle and tubing, so I just don't use them much bc oftentimes, I tug too hard and all my stitches come flying off. BUT I will totally chop mine up to make little holders for my size 1 circulars!! LOVE smitten kitchen!! off to buy her new cookbook now!

    • @EdibleThoughtsMakes
      @EdibleThoughtsMakes  5 місяців тому +1

      Okay, good to know I'm not the only one!! I found the catching of the join really annoying but they're PERFECT for size 1 needle stoppers or I guess any size that will fit into the tubing (good for US1.5 too - I think the more common silicone stitch stoppers typically start working at a US2).

    Wonderful episode, Stephanie. Your Building Blocks Cardi in Fuchsia Rose Hedgerow is going to be beautiful. I also love the short sleeve version shown in a photo on Aimee's Ravelry page for the pattern, maybe for the spring in a light color of Hedgerow.
    My big laugh recently was about a pair of eyeglass beaded chains my cousin sent me for Christmas, because I'm always taking my glasses on and off while knitting. My cousin tells me that one night at dinner her son announced that I was getting "eyeglass Rosaries" for Christmas.

Where you feel a little euphoric afterwards because it's just burst through you. I love even the memory of the moment because it always makes me smile and laugh to myself later too. Yes to more of that. 😊

I love knitting/crocheting blankets but am very intimidated by sweaters and cardis. However, I have made it a goal for 2024 to knit and crochet a sweater and cardigan, respectively. I've started them both, just got to work on them. 😂

    Hi Stephanie, Been following you for sometime now and really enjoy your vlog. So sweet! My personal favorite from what you shared 2day is the Purl Soho Hedgehog Fucshia Rose Building Blocks Cardi. Absolutely stunning yarn/color!! QUESTION: What is the yardage you needed to knit your cardi????? I'm actually knitting a cardi called Natures Cardigan by Hailey Smedley. I'm using some yarn from my stash that I bought quite a few years ago called Madison by Ella Rae that is a nubbeley wool in ecru. Love it!!! Also got socks on the needle!!!!. I like your little snippets of what you are crafting in the kitchen too. My kids are grown but I still cook, focusing on my grandkids now🥰 Love the bags you have sewn, I am going to get into some bag making as I have purchased fabric and supplies to detour for this activity. Sorry your sewing machine tanked, QUESTION: Are you going to buy a new one or get yours repaired? I cannot live without a sewing machine. I actually have 3 that I have acquired over the years. The first one I bought was a Bernina 830 back in 1973 when I graduated from high school. Been sewing since I was a little kid. BTW, That Bernina still works!!!!!!!! Its a beast.😄 I can't get rid of it or trade it in as I have emotional attachments to it. LOVE the buttons your husband made for you! QUESTION: Did you ask him to make them or did he come up with that contribution on his own? Very kind of him. I've always had to buy mine! Stay warm and have fun with your family. Look forward to your next episode. Knitting hugs, Carrie from Northern San Francisco Bay Area❤🐶🐑☕🧶🧵🪡

      Hi Carrie! Thank you so much for spending time with me in this creative space. For the Building Blocks Cardi yardage, check the designer's website and page for the project - yardages are listed by size there (link to the designer's website is in the description box). I haven't quite decided what I'm going to do about my sewing machine predicament - I do still have a working serger and another old sewing machine that isn't the smoothest but does work in a pinch (it's one I've passed on to my two girls who I've taught to sew as well). My MIL swears by Bernina as well and so we're looking into our options (my serger is a Bernina and I love it!). I grew up sewing and surrounded by sewists (and my maternal grandmother used to teach sewing). I definitely requested the buttons from my husband lol. He doesn't mind the request though! Take care!❤️

I am relatively new to your channel, so don’t know if this question has already been answered, but I was wondering, based on your reading, if you have read The Bone Season. Authored by Samantha Shannon, it will be a 7 book series, with either 4 or 5 currently available. My 35 year old son has gotten me hooked! Zauberball is the best! Martina Behm has a lot of designs using Zauberball. I have a hard time choosing a colorway, some days the red/orange calls to me, the next it’s blue/jewel tones. Guess I just need to get a good pile of them, ya know… Eye Candy !!!

    🎉Your episodes are just the best! I love seeing your FOs and WIPs - the two crazy zauberballs that your daughters picked are my favorite color ways. Last year a gift to myself was some of the newer color ways - I enjoy knitting vanilla socks while we watch shows/movies. As for the what I call “riotous laughter”, for me, it’s always some off the cuff comment said or reaction by my husband and he never thinks it’s funny at all but it’s either how he says it or what he’s saying about XYZ that just makes me laugh so hard.

    Stephanie, I love your humor, so funny! I, too, am a fan of the Beautiful Syster bags, but I think your handsewn project bags are fabulous. I am tempted to try making some. As for pies, since you're so into baking them, I recommend The Book on Pie (by Erin J. McDowell) which is excellent. I think her crust recipes are perfect. I also like The Smitten Kitchen cookbook... it gives me lots of ideas (because I have major issues actually following recipes to the letter. Same problem with knitting patterns! 🤭) Your daughters are super fortunate to have a mom who makes them such beautiful things.

    I like how you layer. I haven't made the Metamorphis Dress yet but I have marked it as a pattern I'd like to have. I've seen sewists hack the Hinterland Dress into a quilted vest. That's a neat idea. Do you layer with tights, leggings, or pants with your dress? I've added that sock pattern you've used for your husband's socks. I always admire how you use up your yarn scraps. I need to be better about that and I like the idea of how thicker weight socks knit up faster. The colors in the large half triangle Granny shawl reminds me of a faerie garden.

    • @EdibleThoughtsMakes
      @EdibleThoughtsMakes  4 місяці тому +1

      I think you would have so much fun styling the Metamorphic Dress!! It's like a pinafore/dress that can have underlayers or overlayers. Super fun. I've seen ones where one side is solid and the other side is print. I'll wear wool tights or fleece-lined leggings if it's really cold. I've worn just regular black leggings too and cropped leggings if it's warmer. Thicker socks are so satisfying to knit up and so cushy to wear!

      Thank you! I don’t think I’ve held Good Wool with another yarn yet!

    Hey, loved this vlog and your knitting project, hope you don't mind me asking but what are your favourite sock needles to use? I am just starting my sock journey and want the small needles rather than magic loop.

      Thank you so much! For 9" circulars, my favorite ones are made by Chiaogoo. For some, they find the need to change up how they hold the needles and loosen up the grip since the needles are so short and to avoid cramping. Just a heads up!

    How much negative ease would you say you have in your socks? I’ve read 10% but have found I still feel like that’s too loose for me sometimes?

      Probably around 10-15%? Plus, everybody prefers their socks with different amounts of ease and the yarn can make a difference and everybody’s tension is different so there are a lot of moving variables!

    Great podcast! I use my tubing for a provisional cast-on. So easy to pick up afterwards, and this is the video from Island Yarns that I learned it from ua-cam.com/video/5KLmV1-KKNA/v-deo.html. I'm going to try them as stoppers now, thank you!

      I don't do provisional cast-ons very often but that's an intriguing use for the yarn tubing! I'll look into it, thanks!
