I came to knitting after sewing clothes for myself and my girls. I still love sewing but found knitting is more relaxing. Kelseys segment was spot on and something I have to remind myself when I start thinking I’m knitting to slow.

Even unfinished, the soft opening was a beautiful space. The colors, light, textures, and staff were a wonder to drink in.
Another gem of an episode. Kelsey nailed it so many times for me. I get sucked in and distracted by color and it draws me away from what I'm knitting in the moment. Thank you for helping me get regrounded!

Such a nice variety in this episode! We all can be assured by Kelsey’s common sense advice and how nice to see Emma and her Mom. I had to chuckle when Corinne displayed her lampshade bc I have enjoyed creating some lampshades myself years ago!
Got my sock bag, and am not sure what to do with some of the colors, Emma had a good idea about using colors on contrasting socks!

Thank you, Kelsey, for validating my knitting style and speed. I am also a thrower who has tried picking, and found that it is not for me. I am also a process knitter and in the past have not worn most of what I knit. I have recently donated a lot of knitted items, and I am trying now to be more selective and choosing to knit items that I will wear even if they take me much longer to finish.

Kelsey really spoke to me about fast/slow knitting and how many projects get done in a month/year/etc. I feel i knit fairly fast but i also have migraines which limit my knitting days. I have found that , for me, it’s best that i don’t participate in a lot of KAL’s. That just puts stress on me to keep pace with the clues and the group. It’s great for people that like that, but it just doesn’t work for me. I sure wish i lived nearby so i could visit your store! What a well rounded and thoughtful podcast. I enjoy the episodes and i knit while i watch so it’s like knitting with friends!

Kelsey, I am still working my husband’s Christmas socks. I started them toe up. Was almost done with the leg and decided I hated how the heel looked. So I ripped it out and started cuff down. I thought I would get them done for Father’s Day but didn’t. I’ve finished other things in the meantime. He will get them someday. Haha! Great episode! Kelsey, I have the same inner dialogue, nearly word for word. So many beautiful patterns and yarns, so many techniques to learn, with time and money constraints. I'm often thinking of the next project while knitting current one(s), then reminding myself to enjoy the one I'm working on. And then changing my mind completely about the next project! I thought I had a queue, but today's episode had 4 patterns at least I'd love to make. I'll miss the grand opening of the retail space, but a trip to GET might have to take the place of going to Rhinebeck this year!

I just finished watching another wonderful shopcast. It always feels like a catchup with you two as I enjoy my morning cuppa. I especially loved seeing your Flowers of Montrose vest that you are designing, and the progress Maggie is making on her Cruden. Seeing that reminded me of the fact that it has been in my Fair Isle bucket list since I taught myself to knit colorwork! Someday I hope to cast on for that beautiful vest. To Kelsey: I do get tired of projects at times, but that feeling is somewhat relieved by having 3 projects going at same time. I don’t allow myself to buy more yarn until I have completed those. I yearn for new projects, but stash stresses me out, so I have close to no stash despite knitting daily for the last 22 years.

Do I feel stress about my knitting? Yes, but only because I always feel I have other things to do when I’m knitting. Yet, when I don’t finish projects I feel stressed about not finishing them. I just tuck my WIPS away where I can’t see them and remind myself that knitting is self care and my loved ones receive a better me because of it.

This message is for Kelsey. I am so glad you had a discussion about the amount of new projects, books, and yarn and how difficult
it becomes at times to ignore these distractions and just concentrate on our at hand project. As a knitter for many years is can be a distraction which really wasn't an issue back in the 70's! I was also happy you addressed the issues of fast knitters which drives me
crazy at times because I, too, am a slow knitter even after years of knitting. So thank you for bringing those two subjects up!

Loved listening to Kelsey remind me why I knit. It's not about the product as much as it is about the learning about the craft but more importantly learning about myself in the few quiet moments that I can block out the chaos of life and sneak in a few rows.

How exciting. I can’t wait for our next trip north and a visit to the shop. What a healthy habit.

Kelsey was really speaking to me. For years I hesitated to use my really nice yarn, perhaps fear of not doing it justice stopped me, and I churned out projects out of big box store yarns, the throw it in the washer and drier stuff, which definitely has it's place. Since I retired, I'm actually using the nice stuff and I enjoy knitting so much more. It is such a pleasure to use yarns like TWT's Biches and Buches le petit silk and mohair, and knitting stuffed animals, something i never would've spent time on, but they're quick and a lot of fun. I've passed on many of the yarns i've no interest in, to a couple of very deserving people and made them very happy, which made me very happy! Well, I've got to go, I'm knitting a pumpkin costume for the little mouse I knit and Pips [the mouse] is getting impatient!

I often sign up for various KALs, but having to be on any schedule about it ends up not feeling quite right and I don't participate haha - at least I get to enjoy others' WIPs and FOs. Corinne - that vest is going to be INCREDIBLE! It is so cute and I can't wait until your pattern is ready. Maggie - your vest is gorgeous, too - so vibrant! I may have to pick up a kit for that one. Emma’s mom’s sweater - terrific! As for Kelsey’s segment - I decided early this year that if it wasn’t what I wanted I was going to frog or whatever. I think it’s called the “ fallacy of sunk cost” whether that’s time or $. I’m a relatively slow knitter but what’s the sense of a closet full of knits that you don’t wear and make you feel bad?! I have the new Amirusu Fair Isle book from TWT and I’d like to mention it does a great review of steeking. All projects are in the round. Look forward to seeing the “ brick and mortar “ store!

Another great episode. It was lovely to hear Kelsey talking about all those lovely yarns and patterns out there and the fact it is so easy to get drawn into the newest 'fashion' or 'it' item. I know I could never knit all of them and most would not suit my body shape so it is nice to just sit back and admire other's makes and think 'how beautiful'. Thanks for the Shopcast. Great advice from Emma's mom on adding your stash yarn to your color work sweaters. Sometimes we just need a reminder to look at our yarn in a different way.

Great episode! I loved hearing about your new storefront…including the sneak peek. I’ll be visiting from CT! Kelsey’s segment was spot on. Her perspective on mindful knitting was so appreciated, including acknowledging that there is no such thing as too fast or too slow, too big or too small, too many or too few. The important thing is to strive to enjoy the journey in the moment. Thanks Kelsey!

Kim’s yoga at the end is just what I needed to loosen everything up. Congratulations on your up and coming grand opening of the storefront!

Blaine and I were talking about now having a reason to travel from Western North Carolina to New Hampshire ❣️Getting to put your hands on the Woolly Wool, Touch the yarns, and smell them, makes this worth the Trip to New Hampshire, cause now there’s….
    THE WOOLLY THISTLE
    SHOP❣️🎉💥⭐️❣️
As always there is more to talk about than anyone wants to hear in the comments❣️ Knitting Happiness has a way of doing that. My biggest dilemma is if there will be any “Sock Bags” left when my Quarterly Inheritance check rolls in on July 15❣️🫣
The price of everything has hit everyone! All that extra that was mine for My Woolly Thistle must absolutely haves, now goes for gas! But I just have to have a “Sock Bag”❣️🧶
Maybe there will be one “Sock Bag” that hides in the corner until July 15th🙏🏻!❣️
Until then, I’m still working on the Vest KAL, and loving my time spent with the greatest Ladies around, The Woolly Thistle and all the amazing Thistlers! Life wouldn’t be nearly as FUN❣️🧶🌻🪻

I loved Kelsey’s topic. I have realized over the last few years that even if a project isn’t technically a “success” (meaning it fits well and I wear it), making it wasn’t a waste at all…we ALWAYS learn something new while making a project. Also, the relaxation and enjoyment of the act of knitting, even if the FO ends up being frogged or donated, makes it totally worth the time and expense of the yarn.

I’ve learned to just knit whatever and whenever makes me happy. I still have a wee bit of “guilt” meaning … knit this/that before casting on a new project. But, I know eventually I’ll get the thing done! And I’m not afraid to frog if colors, size etc don’t work out. Always happy when the “new” thing is perfect!
Must get some Tuku… and a few more J&S cones … hard to choose colors I want/need!!
    Thanks for a fun episode!

Goodness- I didn’t realize how much I needed to hear it until Kelsey’s tiny TEDtalk, but THANK YOU for the wonderful reminder to just knit in the moment & be content with working on projects that you truly enjoy ❤ I’ve only been knitting for a couple of years and the pressure to try everything and at speed is incredible, even if it’s only me putting on that pressure! Thank you, Kelsey, for the lovely purl of wisdom and the genuine love you poured out with it. I cannot wait for the storefront to open and to finally say hello to you gals in person! 🤗 Happy Knitting!

Your Jill is amazing! I paused while watching 228 because I absolutely had to find out the color name of the yarn for the shorty socks Maggie is knitting. I sent my question to info@TWT and within minutes Jill wrote back with my answer including a link straight to the exact yarn/color I wanted. While I'm here I want to say thank you with gratitude for the decrease in your shipping charges. YAY!!! Woolly Thistle Team.

I am almost done with my vest KAL. I actually made two! One was something that I wanted to make for years (and years), so this was a good opportunity to do it. That one was not TWT yarn, but I love it! It is intarsia, and I will get a photo shortly. It's called the Nosegay Vest! But, I also am very near completion of the Keris Vest, which I did obtain the kit from you! It is absolutely lovely, and I am so happy that I made it. I really did not think I would finish, but I am knitting it in the round, and I am steeking armholes and neck. My current anxiety is that the KAL will end, and I will have to post a photo of it before the steeks are cut! But I am pushing to finish. It's going to be close. Thank you for carrying such beautiful yarn and this beautiful vest pattern! I appreciated Kelsey's remarks, too. It's true that new patterns can "call," though I do a good job of really enjoying whatever it is I am currently knitting. When I get tired of it, I see no problem in putting it down and starting something new. Do I have unfinished WIPS? Of course! But, that is OK, because I am always learning and truly enjoying it. Finally, I am an avid sewist for many decades and I am a professional person, and I make many of my own wardrobe pieces for work and elsewhere (jackets, pants, blouses, etc.) I think the decades of sewing actually makes knitting all the more fun and rewarding, because it is easy to see what is happening in the pattern, and how things should fit, and not to be afraid of a challenge, etc.

Another great video! I love seeing what everyone is knitting, both WIP's & FO's!
Altho I currently have enough stashed yarn to last the rest of my natural life, I may be unable to resist buying just a little more yarn &/or yarn-y type stuff when I come to visit TWT on July 13th!! I cant wait to see the new store!! I do have to support my LYS (I believe that's a rule written down somewhere!).
I hope everyone has a great 4th of July!
