@@cymikgaming1266 Unfortunately the nerf was a little too heavy handed. The laser beam hitbox is very misleading now since the visual effect is larger than the hitbox, makes it very frustrating at times. It was always useless in PVP as well so they went a little overboard with nerfing it in PVE.

The same thing comes with Crucible knight dash horn i swear i hit somebody with it only when they walking almost right in front of me, in the coliseum every time when i use it everybody, and i mean EVERYBODY know the exact max range of this spell and every time when i dashing at them i stops right in front of the enemy which make the situation like this ("-＿-) (￣ヘ￣;) the most common result...

That’s how it was when I was first learning to use dragon breath attacks too. so many awesome abilities in Elden Ring have such INCREDIBLY slow windups. 😂😂

Stat requirements for said sword is actually fairly low. Sadly. However the true beast of the game. Blood River. Or whatever it's called finally got nerfed, hard. And I loved that katana. It helped me slay the elden beast.

I mean its the best one because its broken as hell, now its one it should be. A budget Comet Azur with low budget cost at the price of being stuck with Int/Faith stats which isnt bad if your using the weapon more often and already building the build in mind.
Still strong enough but now feels balanced as heck without boring you, can still take 4-5 fullpowered beams for some easy bosses without proper setup and hitting all procs. The slimmer and more agile ones can still be hitted but more time consuming with it.
Overall, still good post nerf. But not as good as pre-nerf or bonkers like stacking stat ailment procs and weapons that can proc them easily. Still the best Int/Faith weapon for aggressive players.

Using the sword poorly after getting it was SOO on point.
Did people actually have this problem? Cause the moment I got it, literally everything just started dying.. like.. spamming Comet Azur was how I obliterated everything to the point I felt guilty cause it felt like I wasn't really getting the full "Difficulty" of Elden Ring.
Best sword in the game does not equal best player in the world.

The weapon art could be spammed and the beam dealt up to 5000 damage.
The weapon was incredibly broken and could melt through anything.

I'm amazed he was able to make it through the finger creepers and spectral knights to get to it.
Nahhh if you Souls Run the left side of the gardens + knights, you can skip it all. The knights only spawn at the start and on the path to N&F they only spawn if you walk back.
You can flat-out just _book it_ through Caria Manor and make it, relatively unscathed, all the way to Loretta. The only real problem areas are the wolves, the pagers, and your own stamina bar, beyond that, you’re basically untouchable if you put ever the slightest effort into not running directly into the mobs.
With Great Sword... comes Great Training.
No joke though, Ruins Greatsword can fall into that category, it won't make the game a cakewalk but my god its ash of war hits like a truck.

Bloodhound fang carried me through my first playthrough.
Dude start new game plus, get a second bloodhound fang and power stance them, the damage and bleed build up is insane

@@cinders5305 Yep! Looking to do that after I do my mage playthrough. I can't wait to melt bosses with comet azure and meteors. And then spam bleed buildup with dual Bloodhound fang.
I haven't finished the game yet but this sword is my go to against bosses, then I use the rest just to have fun.
I'm still on my first run (taking a break to finish up Bloodborne and probably Dark Souls 3 instead), but I've been using that one since I got it. I love a good quality weapon that scales slightly in favor of dex. I also haven't been using a shield at all since after my first hour or so of playing.
It is by far ONE of the swords in the entire game

@@Mark-rt1jn Then you fight a GOOD Moonveil user who uses the WA like Unsheath and you realize the weapon was so good spammers could fake it.
This was my experience. Got hard walled on Margit. Followed a couple guides for quick power. Used Night and Flame until i respecced for bleed

I was honestly quite surprised to see that the Tarnished had the right stats in order to get the sword skills out.
EDIT: He has beaten Rennala, so that would have been a great opportunity to hand her the Marvel Beer.
Would have been a better beginning of the video instead of recycling the episode 1.
The worst story could be he has not done with Rennala but got double 24 by upleveling. Then he would find himself trash and have no way to fix it.
Y'all have such marvelous cinematogrophy. The dragon whacking aside the laser and then doing tremendous off-screen dragon violence contrasts nicely with the opening scene of the tarnished getting smacked around by everything. The sound design is excellent.
Carbot, I absolutely love your sense of humor, especially moments when you just want some absurdity to take place, and even when it was made just like I anticipated - the details of art and sound production and it's simplicity (in a good way) never cease to amaze me

Oh yeah. The nerf was a flat 30% damage reduction to the weapon skill. So your experience but one third stronger.
The nerf was substantial but not too bad. If anything, I felt the nerf more in the flame part of the sword of night and flame rather than the meme beam part. The loss of some poise was much more noticeable. But it makes sense.
Before nerf was THE definitive sword. Almost 800 damage at +10, Comet Azur with huge range and Flame ash of war all in one. Totally broken.
Absolutely broke before nerf.

Man I remember finding this thing randomly day 1 and fell in love with it immediately. Not because of how good it was but because of how fucking cool it was to find a legendary weapon with such awesome weapon arts.
Was already going for faith build but had to spend few hours farming Vulgar Militiamen to get int high enough.
Btw Fundamentalist builds are actually pretty great, there's a talisman that has high scaling for both int and faith.

This very much sums up a lot of games. People post videos about the "best" item, ability, e.t.c. However in reality unless you are going for records chances are your skill will influence how well you do much more than optimum weapon choice.
You guys are so amazing, even though it's a funny animation but you have captured the essence of ER so well. 🙏
The developers really should seriously think about replacing "You Died" with "You Suck" in certain scenarios and after a certain number of deaths... would be hilarious

That area needs a "you suck" message, especially if you fall by accidentally jumping backwards instead of sprinting.

0:34 Carbot has some hopes and dreams. And this sword works like this. When you get into a special stance you either press normal attack or strong attack button. Normal one casts Comet Azure while the strong one creates wall of flames. Very powerful. Very fun. Very broken.
0:50 This sword can be found in Carian Manor. You can teleport to one of the later Sites of Grace if you were already there. Go a bit backwards and jump down on certain tower and inside it is a chest with this sword.
1:04 But... There are few flaws of this weapon... 3 in fact. First off. It takes a while to charge those special attacks.

Not everyone who watches it has played the game though, or is as into it as some people are, so these comments (which have been left on just about every animation) turn out to be pretty helpful overall. Hell, I'm a big Diablo 2 fan, and even then there was still some parts I never would've guessed without these comments.

This is one thing I tried to drill into my friends head, some weapons can be better than others, but the best weapon is yourself. Pick up a weapon you feel comfortable with, learn the enemies and you'll go the distence.

Very acurate, Sword of Night and Flame is powerful but the attackrange is mediocre
And slow, against a fast enemy you get insta killed.
@@sergiomoreno6861 not exactly, I was able to make use of it against Maliketh in BOTH phases, the beam attack in particular had a safe opening when in phase he'd go for the forward Beast Claw. With good timing you can land a hit that does 800-1,000+ damage AND still roll through the attack without taking a hit. Also Maliketh's inconsistent aggression makes it pretty good in phase 2, given that in my successful fight on my second playthrough I was able to take him down with several uncharged Frenzied Bursts as he slowly walked towards me, so you could EASILY use the SoNaF's special attacks instead.
It heavily depends on the enemy/boss as with good positioning and timing you can make surprising use of it, it's not an instant-win button anymore, but if you can land it on Maliketh, you can use it on faster enemies as well, and it hits like a truck doing so.
What do I mean by inconsistent aggression? That's when a boss can wildly switch between being super aggressive and super passive, IMO this is an issue with Gwyn, Manus, Fume Knight (to a very minor extent), Soul of Cinder, Maliketh and Isshin, Sword Saint. It makes the fights feel like you're at the mercy of RNG.
"Is now mediocre*" Prior to nerfs that gutted Flame damage and beam range, it was an amazing weapon that let you build Intelligence and Faith and also have an awesome Sword to play with.
Yeah, they busted the comet of azure range after the third update. If you can find release game play (I believe Cr1t1kal/Penquinz0 has some) the range was of that of a staff. The shit was totally busted.
I cheesed my first 4 playthroughs of Elden Ring on INT/VIT/DEX build, spamming Comet of Azure with cerulean cracked tear flask of physick, and magia terrus(forgot the name of the spell).
I haven't played in weeks due to classes(I had to put it aside before v.5 update) but I'm scared to see how my build is probably no longer viable.
Mediocre? It's still pretty damn good even after the nerf

The hardest part is overcoming the urge to save your Larval Tears when you dont meet the sword's wonky stat requirements.
Actually, I think the requirements are too low, you can basically wield the sword in the first 2 hours, which is insane.

@Greyson Maybe if you're actively building towards it, but not every build dumps 24/24 in Int/Faith, especially early game. Hence the Larval Tear comment.

Ditto. The sword doesn't quite do it for me in my playstyle. If I'm going to be a melee build, I'm doing something for straight damage plus cool factor. If I'm doing any magic wielding build, I'm going staves and range. This sword is too "Game of Thrones" for me. Yes, I know, GRRM helped make the game, but probably didn't have any input as to weapons and their names.

I remember when the game was just released. Got summoned for a boss. The guy was doing something when we got invaded. Just did the magic blast against that invader and he died. Now, it takes a few blasts and everyone knows the move set of the sword so good luck landing any hits with it.

Before ROB was a thing, Sword of Night and Flame was really a good sword though
augh, it's always a serious downer when you try and fire a spell and it's just shy of hitting the target. I wish there was some kind of indicator of how close you have to be to hit a target when firing a ranged spell like that, like maybe the targeting dot turns red if you're too far away or something.

Part of the issue there is the angle you typically use to aim has poor depth viewability. Try gauging distance by tilting down or to the side. Maybe not super helpful when autotracking in a rollfest battle...

Cross-Naginata with ice spear is the most beginner friendly build that is viable in PVE.
