Oh no, I wasn't trying to complain. Just trying to give examples of how it's different from the other games in the series. I actually quite enjoyed the game, it's the first Digimon I actually finished 😁
To explain how good cyber sleuth and hackers memory is I am someone that will never be caught playing a game that is completely voiced in Japanese and it's not because I don't like it it's simply I just have ADHD and I would prefer to be able to still hear the game and still absorb the story when I get distracted but anyway cyber sleuth and hackers memory is the only game I have ever 100% completed that was voice in Japanese I really enjoyed the story I enjoyed the gameplay it's the only Digimon game I've ever really gotten into I even really enjoyed the characters although sometimes I do really hate the over-exaggerated female Japanese voice that sounds like it's being ripped straight from a different kind of anime but anyway I would give both games like a 8 or 9 out of 10 simply because too much dialogue is the only downside
That's wild, I put cyber sleuth down, my ADHD had me struggling to get through the between chapter monologues. Didn't help that they telegraphed the major "they knew each other as kids, then got amnesia" and tried to play it off as a twist. At least that felt like where they were going with it, don't know never finished it. I tried hackers memory and couldn't even get past the wall of text of a prologue. I found Survive MUCH easier to get through. I think because it's voice acted even though it wasn't in English. As long as I hear a voice I can read it in that voice as if they were speaking English. Maybe that's not ADHD, or maybe it's just a different version, either way I think it's interesting and it's cool that we both get different games that appeal to us.
@@zacziggarot yeah the monologues in cyber sleuth especially is overbearing I find myself just skipping a lot of it cuz it's just so badly translated and it feels like 80% of it's just filler information but a lot of the story missions in cyber sleuth is voice acted it's a Japanese and I just assumed that it was my ADHD because I get distracted very easily I get up and walk around during dialogues and cutscenes and I do other things I look at my phone and I would just prefer games to be in English so I can still hear the story and I don't think I've ever played survive but a lot of the other Digimon games I tried playing I just really did not like the gameplay
The original Cyber Sleuth was such a painfully mid story tbh. :x Hacker's Memory was a good middleground between a game with compelling mechanics and a decent enough story. Survive is still the goat when it comes to story and characters though.
@@KatMorningstar3 I'm only going to say that it's painful just because I don't enjoy the RPG elements, it just feels like level up, evolve, level up, devolve, repeat. It's fun at first, but after the fiftieth time... Then the fact that I have no idea who my original team was because I've lost track of who was who because everyone can become everyone else 😂 it's still fun, but I prefer the world games over the story games. In the world games you have the one or two Digimon that you train but in cyber sleuth I have more digimon than I can actually keep track of and you're constantly getting more because of scan data 🤣
No wonder why Pokémon is more successful, don't get me wrong, I love Digimon and I prefer Digimon over Pokémon, I also would like it to be more successful, but you have to admit Pokémon is always consistent and innovates while still being consistent that's why Pokémon is able to maintain it's core audience while attracting new people as for Digimon it's always changing so it's hard to maintain a core audience if every new entry is completely different from the previous.
Then people also accuse Digimon of copying Pokemon when all their games are different. People really can't handle there being two groups of monsters. You're right about the lack of consistency too, it seems like the evolution lines change every game. If Digimon could just get their act together they could top Pokemon's roster now that they're not using the full roster anymore. The problem is Digimon is run by the same company that owns One Piece and Dragon Ball. They can't get the same budget, OP and DB sell way better
@zacziggarot the think is, Digimon came way before Pokémon and most people don't even know or forget that. Yeah, Toei animation is pretty reckless when it comes to their properties, they only care about One Piece, everything else is just side content to them and Bandai Namco is pretty much the same, they only care about their biggest properties like Tekken, that's why all their anime adaptation games are all copies of each other, it's the same game released over and over with a few exceptions, and Digimon is unfortunately meaningless for them that's why they outsource the games to low-budget teams or studios.
@@DarkShadow-pe6ud Digimon didn't come way before Pokemon, they came out with the original v pets around the same time as Pokemon came out with red and green. Maybe because Digimon started with little LCD screens while Pokemon started out with a full game that people have a time discrepancy. Tamagotchi came later in the same year as Pokemon did, and Digimon came after that. They were both in development around the same time though so neither one is a copy of the other
@@DarkShadow-pe6ud I wouldn't say Digimon is meaningless to them because they're still able to try new styles of games with Survive. They're coming out with a new Cyber sleuth style game. People just have a difficult time with Digimon because there's three different play styles, you have the RPG games like cyberslueth and world 2 and 3, you have the Vpet sims like the first Sega Saturn game, world 1, redigitize, and next order. Finally you get the hodge podge of smash likes, strategy games, and tcg games. Also world 4 was a hack and slash. It's just difficult to pick a game since they're all wildly different
I've had cyber sleuth for three years, never finished it. I beat survive in a month. I thought the story was tight and concise and moved at a good pace (I even had to set the story aside for a bit to level in free battles because I was doing the story too quickly) different games appeal to different people. I guess survive's story kept me invested while CS kept throwing what felt like filler at me. I just dislike how there's so many evolutions in CS that all just equate to level grinding. Lucemon was fun because he required some thought and training, most everyone else though is just 'level, evolve/devolve to raise level cap, level again, evolve again' it's so tedious. I'm finally to chapter 18 and most of the missing mons require finishing challenges and cases that you don't unlock til the second to last chapter, who's idea was that?
@@zacziggarot My main trouble is getting the stats right for digivolving. Didn't realize the DigiFarm leader affected stat buffs until a good while later, and even now I'm having problems manipulating that.
Feels like they've been trying to get into different forms of storytelling. Digimon Seekers was basically just a light novel. Kinda bummed about that, was at least hoping for an app or something. The strategy RPG parts were always on the back burner, they just wanted to try making a visual novel. Legitimately think they nailed it, I've played other visual novels where characters just drone on and on through pages of dialogue. Writing is much more concise in Survive, everyone gets straight to the point and you NEVER see anyone saying anything that takes more than three text boxes at a time. The story and exploration was pretty solid, I actually blew through the story so fast that I had to go grind a few levels, kept getting oneshot
I would not say less effort at all. Survive had to change companies and it’s budget mid development during the pandemic which caused them to have a lot of issues with the effort they had to put in. It’s actually amazing it came out as good as it did despite that.
Eh 🤷 it has about the same metacritic score as the new Pokemon does. Kind of says something that the teams behind Digimon can make a game as decent as the Pokemon teams, especially when it's their first game of that genre. I don't see how doing AS GOOD as the market leader is a failure

Only Digimon games I won’t like are the ones that didn’t get ported…
I like cyber sleuth a bit better than survive, mainly because of its RPG mechanics
Both are good
i just saved myself $30 this holiday season not getting either lets goo
Weird flex but alright. If you aren't interested in either game I have to wonder why you're even commenting, UA-cam works on an algorithm
I think Digimon Survive was meant to be a mobile game tbh 💀
I like them all
I actually enjoyed both games
I would personally like Digimon survive way more if it just had an English version so I don't have to read a whole thesis anytime I just want to do something
Idk, I actually thought the text was pretty light, you start to notice no one ever says more than three text boxes at any given time so the story isn't even as lengthy as most RPGs
Imagine if they ported and translated Digimon World Re:Digitize to the Switch with upgraded graphics, that'd be fantastic. I am playing it on PPSSPP.
They already did that, they came out with an English version on the DS called re digitized re coded
@@zacziggarot Not true. They did make a 3ds version of the game called Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode BUT ,like the PSP version, an English translation patch was made by fans. Expedited by the work done on the PSP version. There has never been an official English version of the game.
@@gregoriomunoz4754 oh dang, I thought the 3ds port had an English version
@@zacziggarot it doesn't but it does have more story content added I believe. I honestly think it would be a great port to the Switch
I nearly paid 14 bucks for this one
While I love CS, I do play a lot of VN games so what you are complaining about isn't a big deal for me. 😅
So if I liked Pokémon Conquest, i might like Survive?
Depends. It’s promoted as a visual novel as well as a tactical game so you have to read a lot.
Played and beat both.
The original Cyber Sleuth was such a painfully mid story tbh. :x Hacker's Memory was a good middleground between a game with compelling mechanics and a decent enough story.
Survive is still the goat when it comes to story and characters though.
I agree. Survive felt like you were playing a season of the anime. Cyber sleuth felt like there was a lot of filler episodes
@@zacziggarot like literally, Cyber Sleuth felt like a typical and watered down Digimon narrative for the most part, its painful to look back on.
Well sorry but I'm a fan of Digimon World Link Squad only
Data squad? I like the game, I'm just annoyed that there's not a thing that tells you how many spaces are filled for each attack
Just this
Also digimon survive has a wayyyyy better story
i was disapointed
Digital monsters champions... WTF this horrible soundtrack? Give Butterfly or CS sontrack please
I have more of an American audience so it makes sense to use the music that incites nostalgia
I only played 5 hours in survive
And I came back to digimon story
Rpg's are boring enough as it is, let alone point and click games
I think they were made by different teams because i felt digimon survive took less effort to make. They obviously suck at strategy rpgs
Digimon survive is a failure
Eh 🤷 it has about the same metacritic score as the new Pokemon does. Kind of says something that the teams behind Digimon can make a game as decent as the Pokemon teams, especially when it's their first game of that genre. I don't see how doing AS GOOD as the market leader is a failure
Hard disagree.
🥴new digimon game really disappointed lol
Always Changing The game system
Not like pokemon every New game is same and From Greater to perfect game ever
🥴Digimon from perfect to bad
Eh, from what I played in my first playthrough it was a pretty solid visual novel. It felt like I was watching a season of the anime, it makes me want to see all the endings to see if they left it open for a sequel which I'd totally be up for. I kind of like that there are three different current Digimon games available now and they all have wildly different play styles
@@zacziggarot I love how first Digimon world it's really perfect then them changing From Perfect to final fantasy Turnbase and them There's no System we can raised our Digimon against
And the 3rd digimon Is like 2 so lame
And Digimon 4 World is really bad From turnbase into Rpg Mode 😒😒😒
And Now digimon survival tactics
@@zacziggarot don't get me wrong I don't hate game turnbase or final fantasy but in digimon I love is Like The real Digimon world We raise our digimon From koromon into wargreymon
@@Chimone97 When you compare Digimon tactics to the original anode and cathode on the wonderswan you really get a good idea of how far we've come 😁
Digimon games can be hit and miss but the ones we have now are at least an attempt at an improvement over the previous titles (though I still have a soft spot for the OG Digimon world over Next Order) unlike in Pokemon where they introduce a new gimmick each installment which is usually dropped in the next game
@@Chimone97 I getcha completely, sometimes it's fun to theorize different things that can be tweaked for a better game. I personally like the world playstyles a bit more but I'll admit that the Cyber sleuth games put Digimon back on the map
Digimon Survive is mostly just a whole new digimon adventure, which I love
Though admittedly I do wish there were more digimon lines
The only one I've ever played is the ps1 game
Which one? there's 5 😂 honestly I feel like this last generation of games does a pretty good job of improving the old formulas. Cyber sleuth is good RPG, next order is a good v-pet sim like World 1, and survive is almost like playing a season of the anime.
