- As car enthusiasts, we can't always find exactly what we're looking for at home, or even within a few hundred miles. This is a brief summary of things I learned and/or wish I knew when buying my car, sight unseen, from across the country. Hopefully someone finds it useful, comment with any questions or advice to add!

Nice video man!!
Love the video, looking forward to more content!
I had a 96 that I bought used and loved for 10 years. Then I saw the 2012 and I fell in love again. Im in Sheridan WY and I flew out to Racine WI for my Whee. Had 19 miles on it when I picked it up and I drove home like a tourist, making all the stops. Im almost at 20k (snow storm a couple weeks ago stopped me from that milestone). Not a lick of trouble with either Miata. I love this little car
Did the same thing with 2010 PRHT. One owner, no wrecks. Stayed local bought and sold. Got plenty of pics even below. Just a beauty. Flew then drove back. It is definitely exciting. Had fun picking some good roads to drive back on.
Agreed, age on tires is important 6+ years in. 250k miles on NC1?! Love these cars.
Yep! I finally got new tires this week. Much better than the 9 year old originals! And yes, my first NC had 250k miles when I sold it. It's probably up around 300k miles now. Every once in awhile I get an email from Carfax reminding me of services and shows that it's still registered and operational!
I have the identical car, year, and color. It was my midlife crisis toy to myself when I turned 70, two years ago. I’m the fourth owner, 15,000 miles when I bought it, now has 30,000! 6 speed manual, driving is fun again!
Thanks enjoyed this and happy you like your car. Good lesson; whenever buying a car from a location that uses salt on the roads in the winter, ALWAYS insist on seeing clear, well lit photos of the undercarriage. And be sure to check ALL the states it was owned in, not just the state you are buying it from.
Just finalized a deal on one of these in red from Carvanna. I found this very helpful thanks man!
Awesome video! Liked and subscribed. What size wheel and tires? Looks amazing.
The ones in this video are actually the snow setup I use! 16x7 MB Weapons, with 195/55r16 Champiro Ice Pro tires. But typically I have the stock wheels with 215 width tires. Planning on new wheels soon hopefully!
I just bought the same 2012 SE 6MT with 24k miles in Velocity Red Mica. I’d have liked the white way better, my last car was white BMW coupe with black roof and CF accents. I still haven’t seen the Miata, getting shipped to me next week. I did get a 3rd party inspection before making the payment.
Amazing story! Hope for more awesome adventures ahead!
i bought a '76 Porsche 912e based on pictures and a visual inspection about 10 years ago, before Porsche prices went crazy. I flew from TX to TN to get the car and stupidly drove it home to Austin. The starter stopped working in AL, but it made it without any other issues. Have since had the engine and gearbox rebuilt. i feel i got lucky with the car; although i call it my albatross.
although i think the 911/912 is one of the prettiest cars ever, my 2013 NC club sport prht is a better car.
Nice vid! I may be doing the same thing, also on a 12' SE in white. Owner is a Miata-head (he has three) and I found it on the Miata forums.. my only issue is It's also in Ohio (weird, lol), but I'm in the PNW.. shipping it would be expensive AF right now and a massive road trip isn't ideal for me currently.
I've been trying to hunt down a 19+ RF (w/LSD) in my area, but that's been tough as well (with a reasonable price).. I've got refundable deposits on a new BRZ (ETA Fall) and GR86 (#3 in line at my local dealer.. both for MSRP.. but after test driving an RF (no LSD) for 30 minutes.. it's realllllly nice. I'm a little tall for it (hat hits the roof), but with some aftermarket seat rails, g2g.
Have you driven an RF? If so, how's it compare to the nd2? Can't find an NC2 here with premium and suspension pkgs around here either, lmao...
I just drove the new GR86 and I find the interior so disappointing in terms of quality when compared to the ND Miata. I do love the RF, but I needed more storage and since I have the top down 90% of the time, I didn't like the RF not being a full convertible. But it's a stunning car! It feels slightly more premium and better put together than NC, but the NC is so bulletproof and suited my needs better. Plus it was so much cheaper.
@@FlywheelFilms Good to hear your thoughts on the GR86. I may just wait for prices to come down before pulling the trigger on anything. If I find a nice NC2 w/LSD or an RF w/LSD for a decent price, I may jump on it.. otherwise.. I'm gonna wait. I also really like the 718 Cayman/Boxster but that's a wholllllle nother price bracket, lol. But gotta have goals, right? 😉
I'll catch you on the flippity flip!
I'd never buy a car sight-unseen. But I did buy a car in another state after going to take a look at it and taking it for a test drive. It was a Miata.
I said that once. But did it anyway. Worked out great.
Take it out on the water! I bet it floats well being an NC.
Dylan Sorenson nothing better than being a part of the yacht club. 🤓 ⛵️
Is that a DJI Mavic Mini?
StormGarage yes it is! I just got it and I’ve been pretty impressed with it.
