I think the point was that, even though EA is really bad, their anti-consumer practices are generally called out by the customer, whereas Ubisoft gets sort of a "free pass" on their misconduct and predatory corporate tactics.
It's no confusion, the higher ups say make every game for everyone so they can make more money and they force that on devs, and then we as gamers suffer for it, it sucks, but it's reality unfortunately
The reason for that is because the games that are great but only appeal to a certain demographic are usually the games that don’t get noticed until years later or just straight up fail financially. Think of the Prototype games, Bully, LA Noire, these games failed at their because the weren’t made to appeal to a really high margin. Not that I’m trying to justify what Ubisoft is doing, I’m just trying to add a different perspective
@@kingqunt8567 I agree with you that from the producers’ perspective, they will seek the easiest and guaranteed way to make money out of the games. It is sad from a gamer perspective though, as it undermines innovation and you end up playing the same game over and over again under a different skin. Over the last year, I feel every AAA game I played followed the same formula and found myself giving more chances to indie games and new formulas. The “games for everyone” will catch a large share of the market and, I think, many people who don’t play a large range. So gamers like myself have to look for the “games for lovers” which, in the end, are shorter, cheaper, but fun. With AC specifically, I still enjoyed Origins and Odyssey. However, Valhalla is so empty, repetitive and boring that I only went to 62 hours of gameplay and gave up. It is like said in the video, 5-10 hours of an interesting story, 60 hours of emptiness and 10 hours for a good end. I probably won’t give a chance to the next AC.
A few days ago my university had a meeting with my local Ubisoft studio for a gamedev class. The Ubiisoft producers, while telling the story of some of their creations literally said - and I'm quoting: "It's fine to create content for your audience to move the player, but you have to think first and foremost of how much you spend, and you are greedy, so you have already thought of it while in pre-production. You have thought about how to keep taking money from their pocket, how to keep their attention alive so that they will buy your next expansion." This shit is really ruining the industry. I hope this video will be heard by many and inspire the masses to reject this situation.
I mean I'm sure there are devs actually making the game that are in it for the money, but why is it whenever we hear about the greed in this industry its always coming from the people close to the top, its utterly fucking ridiculous and hopefully there comes a day when these types of assholes begin to value passion and creativity over greed.
Yeah, I feel like a lot of people are too focused on "Haha yes roast Ubisoft" as opposed to being concerned about the very real issues being brought up here. We need to share this video more to get more people talking and thinking about this.
Actually, it's going off a report that wants to minimize the changes that have been made, and the changes to come in order to pull the standard cancel culture bs.
@@javierlandaverde4108 Sadly it’s not just Ubisoft either. I would bet money that almost every major gaming company is having the same issues, the only difference is they’re a lot better at hiding them. Gaming is getting worse as an industry, and as long as corporations are involved, it’ll never change.
Been watching for years now and it’s truly amazing to see your growth as a content creator and as a person. So far your handling of the situation has been so well done and I really appreciate all that you’ve done.
Odyssey is the most diabolical game ever made. I have put countless hours into that game but the level gating is laughable. I think I have around 60 hours and I'm not at the endgame yet. I had to uninstall it.
That statement isn't really saying much; there is a difference between a new IP and a long running series. There is absolutely nothing wrong when people are not satisfied with a new installment and ask for changes, e.g.. Breakpoint for example.
Odyssey is broken.. with 100s of pc gamers across dozens of forums reporting crash to desktop's, freezes and lock ups.. and they're are idiots (including Ubi support) advising people to make xmp memory profile changes within the actual motherboard Bios.. it's like .. Wtf??, even as someone who builds and overclocks pcs for gamers... I would never recommend people mess with the Bios for one game.. it's shocking expecting gamers to fix UBIs mess, so yeah... I'm sick of ubi not bug fixing and just taking people's money.. now we have Eivo with f@@king wings ... just to appeal to the kiddies... I don't re,member Vikings having angel wings, do you.. ubi have lost their way with liberal pandering, political correctness and money grabbing .. it's bad
@@NightOrchids Origins was kinda good, I completed it except the Pharao's dlc. Odyssey is...tedious, haven't played it so much. I don;t intend on playing Valhalla, maybe a deep sale, but then again I have never seen Ubi games discounted more than 50%, except some ancient titles. Their games are getting really bland and have been for a long time, imo. Performance wise though, I don't think I've had a single ctd, bsod or the like with any of the new AC titles. Wonder if those complaints come from people using hardware out of spec.
@@DeKRygerDeDaik to be honest, nor have i had any crashes with their games, up until now... i look after and maintain my hardward and windows itself.. ive got 90 hrs in Odyseey on my old pc, but ive only came back to Odyseey on my new i7 because Valhalla got boring very quickly, Origins works perfectly.. but man i dont know what Ubi did in the last patch.. but its crashing every 5 to 30mins, i do like Immortals though.. but im not changing my bios though.. yes ubi have gotten vrry predictable .. i just hope they change direction
So many companies follow the “oh yeah this high level person did bad shit, we will be something!” But then 6 months later, when everyone has forgotten about it, nothing has been done. People in high level positions are basically untouchable, which is so, so fucked.
As someone who works as a journalist, it’s absolutely disgusting that what you’ve touched on here doesn’t see much screen-time with major media outlets. I’ve followed your channel for a little while now and always been an AC fan and had no idea about the behind-the-scenes at Ubisoft. I never even bothered to buy Odyssey or Valhalla for the reasons you mentioned relating to them not being assassin games. Those micro-transactions are absurdly diabolical, though, and likening them to a cell phone game that kids play was spot on. Keep using your voice and keep putting the content out, James. I’m sure this video will pull the blinders off folks as it gets more traction.
I really hope this video does well. Ubisoft does not get enough hate like EA and Activision-Blizzard do. Who knew that Ubisoft was as rotten from the insida as from the outside lol. Seriously though for me, there's no reason to by another Ubisoft game, at least not at full price. There games aren't good anymore and internally they are absolutely morally fucked up.
EA is slowly becoming a better company (its still not good tho) Ubisoft is steadily becoming worse and they don’t give a fuck about it, so I honestly prefer EA to Ubisoft by now (which is something I never thought would say)
The problem with Ubisoft making games are, 1) Milking Microtransactions 2) Ignoring their die-hard franchise fans just to see what's trending in the game industry (RPG) 3) Rushed games that need to be polished out and need more time to get fixed (bugs and narrative-wise)
Ubisoft: Why do you persist...? You put us down. We rise again. You end one plot. We forge another. You try so hard. But it always ends the same. Those who know you think you mad and this is why. Even those men you sought to save have turned their backs on you. Yet you fight. You resist. Why? Lazerzz: Because no one else will!
LazerzZ I just want you to know that I admire your Passion for this series. You made me sunk into the lore more than anything else. Thank you for your work.
You really knocked it out of the park with this video, James. It was so satisfying and cathartic to hear your anger and frustration aimed towards review companies, journalists and high profile figures within the games industry not doing enough to call out Ubisoft on their scummy business practices and toxic workplace behaviour. Let's hope to really get this trending on Twitter to put more pressure on Ubisoft!
Jimquisition brought this up ages ago... talking like 9+ months ago... about damn time someone else has brought it up that isn't being buried by the algorithm.
It’s saddening the lack of awareness this situation has, how is this going un noticed? I’m glad You and everyone in the community is speaking out and spreading awareness for this, the more people know the more pressure is put on this absolutely awful company
I've read a number of comments that, despite seeing similar videos, not only refuse to believe it but outright encourage the "men in ubisoft" to "fight" this, calling it bullshit. It's disgusting.
(15:42) _The reason Assassin's Creed is where it is now is because they had a niche game with a large fan base that loved what it did yet Ubisoft decided they needed to make their games for people who didn't even like them to begin with_ > Even though the transformation process is not fully complete, the exact same happened to Bethesda. I sorely miss the days where fans could scour the materials available, trying to piece together the Assassin's lore, then uploading videos of incredibly interesting theories.
I can't believe this, once again you opened my eyes. I already thought that Valhalla was going to be my last AC but this solidifies it. My love for this franchise will always continue but it's time to say farewell. Thank you Lazerzz
Thanks for the eye opener James. Most games that I play now are from the times when I never got the chance to play it back in school, so I'm kinda behind on these stuff. You sharing it really makes me understand more on these kind of issues. I really liked the old Ubisoft games that I used to play back then and it really has special place in me. The games shape me into who I am now. As sad as it is harsh truth is important for real change. Keep on rocking man!
I have never tought about it like this before, but in a way the entire main story, concept and conflict of Assassin's Creed, reflects the current situation concerning Ubisoft. I first noticed this when replaying AC II and while going through the Auditore crypt in Monteriggioni. One of the qoutes from Dominico, reflecting on the teachings of Dante, goes like this "He taught me that society was set up in such a way as to control it's members, to stop us from thinking, from seeing. Soon, i could look past all the laws and illusions. I understood that mankind was being used by it's rulers, that we, the people, deserve freedom." That literally reads as a satirical critique of Ubisoft's philosophy and actions, written in in such a way as to sound like an old timey text. Im straight up convinced that whoever wrote that whether it was Corey May or some one else, travelled in a freaking time machine to the futere went back and implemented that into the game, just to slam on Ubisoft for what it had become.
I've written this comment under one of your videos before, but I wish to write it again as it applies again. There's a German saying, which basically means that someone expresses exactly what you have felt for a long time but could never quite put into words: "Du sprichst mir aus der Seele". "You're speaking from my soul". I think everyone who buys and plays a Ubisoft game nowadays should have to watch this video first. I think everyone has a right to know whom they are supporting with their money. If they want to support a company as horrible as Ubisoft, then there probably is no point in arguing with them anyways. I'm impressed with your videos and you as a person every time I watch them. You are one of the most honest and courageous UA-camrs I know and I admire you for it. Ubisoft won't listen to what you say, and yet you speak out, despite of the fact that nothing changed for years and years. That is admirable.
If you're an AC fan and want another reason to dislike Ubisoft, please read this: During the development of AC Brotherhood, Ubisoft approached Patrice Desilets (the maker of AC and a worker at UBI since PoP 1) to demand yearly releases for AC since it was selling very well (10m copies AC1 - PoP 3m) Patrice, working in Gaming out of passion and not greed, refused. The result was that they fired him after 20 years of work.Every other AC that came after AC Brotherhood felt "different" or "lacking" something and that's SOUL, that's what it's lacking. Patrice went on to his own studio, working on a spiritual successor to AC called 1666: Amsterdam (there is a YT trailer) but guess what happened, UBI bought his studio and acquired the IP then fired Desilets. It was a threat to AC since it was made by the man who brought their cash cow to life. It took years of legal battle to get the assets back but now they are outdated and UBI has sunk its teeth too deep in AC's neck to change anything about it. AC 3, AC 4, ROGUE, UNITY etc, they're NOT CANON. They're either spin offs or shadows of the true AC. Before you say that it's just an opinion, the ORIGINAL author was fired. Imagine Game Of Thrones without George RR Martin. How would that be? Oh wait no need to imagine, just go watch the show post George's direction. It's being called bad fanfiction, that's what AC post Ezio is, FANFICTION. The original author was ousted, with him went Jasper Kyd, Jade Raymond and so on. Every other AC that came after Rev was an amateur chef trying to replicate the recipe as right possible. Yet they all miss the point, it's not about the profit or the rentability it's about the process, the passion, and that is gone with Desilets. PS: His studio was part of THQ and when they went bankrupt, UBI swept in to get his IP. PPS: OP, if you read this, please make a video about it.
The games after Ezio weren’t bad though. The Kenway saga was a good story, unity had a lot of wasted potential but bounced back a bit, syndicate is still wasted potential. But they aren’t bad games. I imagine they already had the idea of the story they had in mind for AC 3 as the post credit scene in revelations and the co-ordinates in brotherhood all pointed to America.
@@JB6GD684 I do enjoy Unity and Black flag is one of my favourite games of all time and I even liked Origins but they're just not AC anymore. I enjoyed GOT season six too but it lost the charm of season 1-4 when there was books to adapt from. That's the impact of having the author be part of the project... Regarding the Kenway Saga the biggest waste of potential has to be Connor not going to Paris in Unity since Lafayette invited him there at the end of 3.
@@matthewwellman Which parts are half truths? That Ubi is a crap company? That Patrice got fired twice? That they kept his IP hostage for years? That they released AC games yearly for money?
It's really sad how low Ubisoft has fallen and how much AC devolved. I used to be so hyped whenever new AC was announced. Now I don't even care anymore. I tried Odyssey and I could take only 20 hours. After that I shut if off and never came back to it. I didn't even bother to buy Valhalla. Ubisoft made a massive mistake with AC. Their greed will be their ultimate downfall. They could have started a brand new IP that focuses on historical open-world games and keep AC what it's supposed to be at the same time. But they decided to ruin it completely. They decided to spit on the most loyal fans who loved the original vision and cared about the work of passionate creators. The same thing with other brands. Prince of Persia is being completely neglected. We haven't seen a new Splinter Cell since 2013. The Division has been a complete letdown. Watch Dogs became just another generic open-world with terrible driving and boring missions. All Ubisoft games start to look alike. They all become mediocre open worlds with generic activities, bad plot, pointless RPG systems that harm gameplay instead of improving it and shit ton of shameless microtransactions. It's really sad to see how the industry is changing for the worse. Rockstar Games also keeps fucking up with how terribly they handle Red Dead Online and how they're milking GTA V instead of making something new. It's an end of an era. I only hope we'll get more great games from other publishers. We can always count on Sony and their blockbusters like God of War, Uncharted, The Last Of Us, Spider-Man, Ghost of Tsushima etc. Btw Ghost of Tsushima is a way better Assassin's Creed game than recent Assassin's Creed games. It's so much fun. Can't wait to see what Sucker Punch can make next with all the money they earned.
I played Ghost and it's one of my favorite games of all time. I love AC but Ghost shits on ever single one in terms of story, gameplay and setting imo. Ok maybe not Ezio's story, but still lol
I think Ubisoft get this pass by many because they've slowly lowered the bar year by year, whereas companies like Bethesda, CDPR and DICE (specifically rather than EA as a whole) dropped the ball so very suddenly that it garnered media attention. Ubisoft has been playing the long game when it comes to anti-consumer conduct.
You should really reach out to Jim Sterling to discuss this. They've been talking about this for months, and have refused to let the topic die. In fact addressing it directly on their channel led to many of their videos being removed from recommendations because of the UA-cam algorithm deciding that reporting on sexual assault is not worth promoting.
@@yourmom9200 is this a real question? I used they in a sentence that could really go either way, so it sounds like you have a bone to pick as you honed in on this. Put simply, it's literally the very least effort as a human being you can do to call someone what they want to be called. "My name's Andrei?" you say? "no its not. It's Rudy. Collectively everyone should call you Rudy and this is somehow an important hill to die on." No one cares. If you don't want to refer to Jim with they, you aren't really getting off a sick burn, you're just exposing yourself as a petty a-hole that wants to actively disrespect people.
Thank goodness someone else addressed this. I think there's another factor to explain why so few were talking about this when the allegations initially came out, they were also buried effectively by a huge amount of high profile game previews, trailers and the like, aided by a large part by much of the mainstream game press.
Valhalla broke me even more than oddyssey. Because we thought odyssey was just a misstep but it wasnt it was a shift. Valhalla looks like a free to play mmo (sometimes even worse)
Looking at some of the bottom comments on this video makes me lose hope in humanity. I swear, some people just have empty space where their brain should be.
I 100% agree with you. I was one of the biggest AC fans… But Ubisoft got so greedy. Were it up to me to alter politics, I’d enact legislation to ban many of their practices with massive penalties in the tens of millions. It’s straight up anti-consumer behavior. Artistically speaking… well… It’s like what a fellow assassin once told Ezio, “They sold dignity for coin. Their life will not be mourned.”
Honestly, you convinced me dude. I won't be buying their products new. You epitomized everything I haven't been able to put into words. Much love, thanks for doing what you do.
Really good video. Hope this gains the traction it deserves. One point that isn't often mentioned in these videos is that watering down your game to appeal to mass markets works in the short term but will cost the company in the long run as its core fan base turn against them. If you don't have people to cheer on your product and it becomes known for mediocrity then you won't have a marketable product. It's short term gain for long term pain and it comes from trying to please shareholders. EDIT: This is obviously a totally separate issue on sexual harassment, something that continues to not be taken seriously enough within the industry and community.
I honestly have been thinking the same for so long, I've watched Ubisoft become more and more corrupt over the years and it's awful. They take no responsibility and keep digging themselves deeper and deeper. I feel bad for the people in the company that are forced to add this shit in and actually know what they are doing is wrong and want to do something but they don't have a high enough position to do so. I hope this video blows up, this is beyond just their games now. Thank you so much for trying to put the message out there, good work don't give up
Been a huge AC fan, and a huge Ubisoft fan, for years. But after late 2018, I have not bought a single one of their products. Vote with your wallets people, or change will never happen.
I just stopped playing Valhalla after I got to England. This is coming from someone who has platinumed every single AC game. Maybe one day they’ll clean up their act in game development as well as their entire company structure.
Thank you for this video. I used to work at Ubisoft until recently and I confirm they claim they want to change but still cover up management misconduct. I have known victims who reported misconducts and never heard of actions taken after investigations. I left after almost having a burnout due to workload and misconduct.
late to the video but i really admire you for talking about the misconduct allegations within ubisoft and the sexism in the games (not letting there be any lone female protags). many people ignore these facts and/or think of them as “petty sjw feminist leftist bitchery” when it’s not, and i don’t believe you see them as that either, so thank you. -a female gamer in love with (the old) assassin’s creed
Great vid. I also would like to shout out Jim Sterling's channel. They are one of the only other people I can think about to consistently talk about things like this, actual issues that matter, within the gaming industry. We need as many people doing what you do as possible, so thank you for the service!!
Thank you for making this video and being vocal. It's hard to comprehend that this situation actually exists, so I'm really glad to see someone talking about it.
@LazerzZ As a former Ubisoft Support employee up til April, yeah. Things are still just as bad. Nothing will ever change in the company and the sooner we stop buying their games and holding them accountable, the better.
I feel like we all forgot Jim Sterling was screaming this for a while...

I, like you describe it in the video, have also developed a tight relationship with Ubisoft's content. I found AC when in my early years of high school and the whole concept of those first two games got engraved on my impressionable teenage mind, to the point where for my whole teenage years it became my personality. And that's why it truly breaks my heart to see behind the curtain. Because people say "Ubisoft has fallen", but that's not true, it was always rotten, they just manage to keep it under the rug for a long time, but ultimately they tried to grab more than they could carry and ended up making the mess is now. And that's why I totally understand why people don't want to look at that mess. Ubisoft is the industry's golden child, it made all those game in the 2000s that marked the youth of so many, from Rayman to Splinter Cell. Honestly the future seems nebulous to me. Obviously I can't stop playing their games, like I said, some of them not only mean a lot to me (and have *become* a part of me) but to the industry as a whole, so of course I am going to keep playing the games I have, but I will do my best to stop buying their new games anymore. I want to assume that compromise.
This is a fucking incredible video. If this doesn’t convince you to hold Ubisoft accountable I don’t know what will. You’ve really opened my eyes to this situation and I hope this video gets as much attention as it deserves and needs. I’ll share it to as many people as I can. Thank you and the pillars for standing up to them when nobody else seems to want to.
I’ve been subscribed for YEARS (it was way back when I still liked ac xD) and still watch just because he is the only one that I can hear this stuff from. It’s so crazy that this crap doesn’t get any attention
Its the circle of gaming companies. A relatively normal size company makes an excellent videogame that creates its own fanbase and elevates the company. The company with now excess money invests in its own business, making more videogames in the process. The now large videogame company has become so corporate that changes the focus from "making money by creating good videogames" into "creating videogames to make vast sums of money". Corporate company hires more and more people and pumps up videogames extremely fast to make more money, while at the same time creating more and more features to, you guessed it, make more money, and making the game appeal to as many people as possible, downgrading the product itself drastically but keeping the decorative exterior (graphics and cosmetics) in the front line. Devs that work in this company begin to hate the companies practices and fuck off to create their own company to make videogames how they want them again. A relatively normal size company makes an excellent videogame that creates its own fanbase and elevates the company...
I hate what Ubisoft has become with a passion. I hate how youtube abuses it's own content creators to the point where many of them have to leave. Amazon has literally killed their own workers. If I was a more principled guy I would go almost Amish and leave behind all of these terrible companies. As much as I hate them, I'm not a good enough person to stop using these services, and since my life now is so painful and my only source of joy is a few games, such as the AC series, I can't do the moral thing, even though your 100 percent right in all of this.
I saw so many “Im done with AC series” before. I did not buy AC Oddysey, but felt with AC Valhalla blinded by promises. And it still goes to the point it is not AC anymore. The mainstream is so huge and big it is inevitable, and sad
I am leaving a comment because UA-cam's algorithm loves videos with lots of engagement. Also, Jesus Christ am I happy to see this video. I was putting off getting Valhalla until I had a PS5 but you have made me want to just miss this shit out from now on. It really doesn't look good from what I've seen anyway.
I now understand why we won't see AC1 remake anytime soon... it just won't sell AC Valhalla level of numbers because AC1 is a core game, something ubisoft won't touch again. Shame...
Origins started the scuminess of the helix store, but as a whole, it was the last game from them where I felt the genuine love and care put into it. It was more than just a pumped out product. Bayek absolutely deserves a sequel, but that’s something I won’t buy into unless Ubisoft makes workplace changes.
@@jvan28 Actually no. The helix store started since Black Flag. Even Unity was more shady as hell with its store, because apparently skill points are hard to come by unless you play coop often and you're often tricked pay premium currency just to upgrade your gear

1. The microtransactions are not predatory as the content is not mandatory to enjoy the game. Nor is it required to complete the game. 2. They aren't going to miss your $60 per game for the sake of critique and not enjoyment. Nor are they going to cry about the people who are threatening to "not stream any Ubisoft games until changes are made." 3. There have been numerous changes, but the main change that needs to take place is the employees need to actually use the resources available, and I mean ALL resources. This includes getting the police involved if need be. 4. Pink News put out a report in which Ubisoft had told them: "In a statement to PinkNews, Ubisoft said: “Over a period of several months, Ubisoft has implemented major changes across its organisation, internal processes and procedures in order to guarantee a safe, inclusive and respectful working environment for all team members.” Those changes include anonymous reporting tools for misconduct, all allegations thoroughly investigated by external experts, global training on appropriate workplace conduct, and a revamp of the code of conduct. New appointments include: Lidwine Sauer as Head of Workplace Culture, Anika Grant as a new Chief People Officer, and Raashi Sikka as a new VP of Global Diversity and Inclusion. Ubisoft added: “These concrete actions demonstrate the profound changes that have taken place at every level of the company. Additional initiatives are underway and are being rolled out over the coming months. We are committed to strengthening our culture and values in the long term, to help ensure every team member at Ubisoft is heard, respected and valued in the workplace.”
@@LazerzZ What's wrong? Don't like my opinion? Don't like that Ubisoft has implemented changes that people fail to acknowledge because it isn't the changes that the "PC Cancel Culture" want? You stated that the only reason you were buying the games was to critique them, and wish you could have cancelled your purchase of Valhalla. You know what I find most funny about you and Fizhy? That people actually look at your opinions as speaking for all the "fans" out there, and using your voice as factual. Did you know that it was because of the critique of the "fans" that the combat system is what we have now? Same with the present day protagonist. Another issue with "fans" is that they fail to see the whole of the story of the Assassin's Creed series. It goes back to the Isu era. Assassin's Creed II even shows that much in "The Truth" glyph missions where it shows Adam and Eve stealing the Apple of Eden as they escape. Adam and Eve were not Assassin's, and Templars didn't exist yet then, but it is still canon.
Couldn't agree more. Valhalla was the last straw of quantity over quality and microtransaction as usual keeping all the good stuff. It's the same thing with music. Maroon 5, their first 2 albums they made great stuff in my opinion. Then they decided to try out a full on pop song and eventually went poppier and ubisoft-ier and ubisoft-ier. Why would they actually take time to make complex pop songs when a song like Sugar with about 3 chords and absolutely repeated garbage is probably one of the most popular songs of all time? I get why these kind of things happen coz some people just don't think like we do and don't care about quality, but man I wish people would wake up lol
I don’t hate the new games I beat each one and enjoyed them all. However I can’t ignore what you’re saying, the meaning of an assassin creed game is dying. It hurts for me because I fell in love with the games just when they switched it to the RPG format.
Your voice is an expression of everything I have felt about this franchise and about Ubisoft as a company. I too will not waste another dime on anything put out by Ubisoft until they treat their customers with respect and their employees with even more. #HoldUbisoftAccountable
I’ve never hated anything more than the idea of “Mass Appeal”. I’m sorry but the masses don’t know shit. It’s historically proven that humanity as a collective is about as intelligent as an amoeba. Fuck appealing to the masses! If Interplay had appealed to the masses there wouldn’t be a Fallout! If 3DO had appealed to the masses, no Might and Magic. If bethesda had appealed to the masses, no Morrowind! Make games for gamers not for people who can’t tell the difference between AAA gaming and Freemium gaming!

Skins are OK in multiplayers but it's an issue when you put it in a singleplayer
A lot of companies confuse "games should be for everyone" with "every game should be for everyone", which is a very different thing.
Exactly.. it’s the same thing with every media.. not every tv show is for everyone, movies, etc
It's actually more like the SJW/PC group complaining about how games need to be "all inclusive".
You have thought about how to keep taking money from their pocket, how to keep their attention alive so that they will buy your next expansion."
This shit is really ruining the industry. I hope this video will be heard by many and inspire the masses to reject this situation.
That's basic marketing. Every company does that. The difference here is that their games have become big stinking steaming turds.
Which Ubisoft studio is it?

I understood that mankind was being used by it's rulers, that we, the people, deserve freedom."
That literally reads as a satirical critique of Ubisoft's philosophy and actions, written in in such a way as to sound like an old timey text. Im straight up convinced that whoever wrote that whether it was Corey May or some one else, travelled in a freaking time machine to the futere went back and implemented that into the game, just to slam on Ubisoft for what it had become.
The problem with Ubisoft is that all their games are bland open worlds filled with outposts to liberate, dumb collectibles and a mediocre story.
Exactly. This company is so scared to try out new and interesting concepts for games because 1: it might backfire for them 2: they’re lazy
I've written this comment under one of your videos before, but I wish to write it again as it applies again.
There's a German saying, which basically means that someone expresses exactly what you have felt for a long time but could never quite put into words:
"Du sprichst mir aus der Seele".
Bro your facts are half truths, sounds like you filled in a lot of blanks.

But there are still good devs that never sold their soul
They usually just stick to the indie game route
Yo man I’ve been loving all of your work lately and would love to see you cover more Halo stuff! You bring a very good perspective!
remember the good ol' days when Altair couldn't swim?
You are absolutely right on…..I am totally with you on all points….I will no longer buy these products…..
20:07 - 20:25 the best gaming line I have heard in years! So on point it’s actually scary and depressing for the future of gaming!
Shame...
Great vid bro, I rly hope this moves not only Ubisoft, but the industry as a whole to change
100% here’s to hoping
Bayek sequel needs to happen now simply because james made this video.
Origins started the scuminess of the helix store, but as a whole, it was the last game from them where I felt the genuine love and care put into it. It was more than just a pumped out product. Bayek absolutely deserves a sequel, but that’s something I won’t buy into unless Ubisoft makes workplace changes.
@@jvan28 it’s like you’re typing my thoughts for me :)
@@jvan28 Actually no. The helix store started since Black Flag. Even Unity was more shady as hell with its store, because apparently skill points are hard to come by unless you play coop often and you're often tricked pay premium currency just to upgrade your gear
We can all sense your genuine passion from the video .We need to make this issue more mainstream , maybe make this hastag more popular on twitter and other social media. #holdubisoftaccountable
Glad I'm not the only one no longer buying ubisoft games, any games that use a similar model I straight up don't buy.
Great essay bro. I agree with every point. Love from India.
1. The microtransactions are not predatory as the content is not mandatory to enjoy the game. Nor is it required to complete the game.
2. They aren't going to miss your $60 per game for the sake of critique and not enjoyment. Nor are they going to cry about the people who are threatening to "not stream any Ubisoft games until changes are made."
3. There have been numerous changes, but the main change that needs to take place is the employees need to actually use the resources available, and I mean ALL resources. This includes getting the police involved if need be.
4. Pink News put out a report in which Ubisoft had told them:
"In a statement to PinkNews, Ubisoft said: “Over a period of several months, Ubisoft has implemented major changes across its organisation, internal processes and procedures in order to guarantee a safe, inclusive and respectful working environment for all team members.”
Those changes include anonymous reporting tools for misconduct, all allegations thoroughly investigated by external experts, global training on appropriate workplace conduct, and a revamp of the code of conduct.
Fuck off. Stop shilling for a multi million dollar corporation.
@@LazerzZ You may also want to understand the definition of the word shill.

Perfectly spoken my man
I’m going to plug this video whenever I see an argument about AC. Definitely your best argument ever and I’m done with Ubisoft until they fix things
Want to give a shoutout to the Assassin's Creed Sisterhood who are also fighting against Ubisoft's business practises, not just the four pillars.
They deserve more praise
