you can tell how passionate James is about assassin's creed and how much he cares about the community, I hope you can bring yourself with help to find that seperation of the good and bad of this company, u can get there your awesome man love you !
Yeah please don't hate me but every new ubisoft game that I actually think is cool I will pirate so I can play it but I won't be helping the company by buying their games
I just wanted this video to come out sooner... I knew that blatantly ignoring the company for what it did would not solve the problem... Rather you would be hurting yourself from inside for pushing away all the years of good memories you've made with AC and the community.. So I'm 100% with you on this move going forward.
As someone who was introduced to this channel through your amazing AC content, I did find myself conflicted when the boycott started. BUT this also allowed me to indulge in your other content as well and appreciate you as great gaming UA-camr. The whole four pillars community is great and you all should be proud of that because so much more positivty came out of your Ubi-content than bad influence.
I was so gutted to hear we weren't getting any more Assassin's Creed retrospectives (Revelations, AC1, maybe Black Flag). I understood why, but it was still sad. Nice to know not all hope is lost. Obviously when you feel up to it, I'd love to see you find a way to appreciate the good times again. Separate the gold from the giant turd.
Ever notice that the companies that virtue signal the most and champion diversity always seem to be the seediest I mean just look at Activision, Blizzard and Ubisoft.
Seriously, so much respect for you and the Four Pillars for this. THIS is the way to handle this whole shituation. Major props and keep doing what your doing. Keep spreading the word about the evils of Ubisoft and hopefully, sometime soon you'll be able to kick that feeling of guilt out the door cause you have nothing to be ashamed of. Still hoping and praying more people will boycott the absolute fuck out of Ubisoft entirely.
stuff like this makes me want to buy there stuff, every company does stuff wrong if you dont like something dont buy it but boycotting and trying to get others to is stupid. the company has 20,000 individual people if a company that big says no fuckery is going on they are lying, people are not infallible they make mistakes and some people are just evil. welcome to the real world
@N7Andy seems like you two are the only ones with a common sense in the comments section, rest are just busy starting a 'war' because daddy ubisoft didn't keep on releasing the same stale formula of AC games again and again lmao
@N7Andy If you're just assuming I'm "an edgy teen just" just going through ""a phase" you are incorrect. I work hard and barely have time to play video games anymore but I still enjoy them when I do have time, they are my hobby and my relaxation method. When I say I am boycotting Ubisoft I mean I AM boycotting Ubisoft. I refuse to give my hard earned money to a company who clearly employs numerous sexual abusers and predators and it has nothing to do with their games. I've been an AC fan since the first game and am very intrigued by AC Infinity, and their upcoming Rider's Republic looks AWESOME but I will not buy it. Until Ubi fixes their internal abuse issues, I will not purchase anything related to their company or products. I don't give a fuck if that upsets you.
@@imalittletoxicjustalittle What you do with your money is up to you and none of my business, if you still want to support Ubisoft (and internal sexual abuse) that's up to you. If you still play and enjoy their games, that's cool dude. Doesn't hurt my feelings at all. What you spend your money and time and enjoyment on has no effect on me. So if I want to NOT spend my money on them why should you give a fuck? I worked for my money , not you. You spend yours the way you want and I'll leave you to it, so shut the fuck up about how I do or don't spend mine. If people want to boycott a legitimately corrupt and disgusting company for legitimate reasons why should you care?
As content creators, you guys amplify all our voices. Taking a stance of moderation and introspection (while speaking out about Ubisoft’s issues) is something we all appreciate. 💪🏻
earlier this year i bought the ezio collection and played through 2 and brotherhood. after hearing about everything i genuinely couldnt bring myself to play revelations or even replay black flag which is my favourite in the series and the first ac i ever played. the whole situation is just saddening
You have no idea how happy I was to hear even a "maybe" from you for your revelations retrospective! Thank you for that. And even if you ultimately do decide to not make that video (god forbid), it'd still be alright, cause you would be standing for what you believe in.
Ubisoft is not that company anymore. It's just the name that's same, similar to one franchise I know. We need to talk about it more. Just ignoring isn't going to help. we need to raise as much awareness as possible. Great video.
I gotta say i blindly loved every assassins creed game from day one. I legitimately didn’t think anything negative until you brought a lot of things to my attention in the Odessey video. Thank you for what you do man.
It's sad to say this but I gave in and bought Far Cry 6. I loved the last few games and just everything that was said about it made me want it. I tried my hardest not to buy it for probably two weeks but all of the reviews saying it was great got to me. I truthfully don't know if I'm ashamed that i gave Ubisoft money or if I'm happy that they finally have an actually good game with a staff that seems to actually give a damn. Ubisoft used to be my favorite gaming company but that love has been tainted for so many years now. Especially with the recent news that has seemingly kept coming out for weeks on end at this point. Just as someone who loves video games and the escape it gives from one's real life struggles somehow always gets me. My prayers and sorrow go out to those that were effected mentally and physically by the actions of Ubisoft and their disgusting staff, that to my knowledge, are still hired from that fateful day.
@Dodgson, we've got Dodgson here! So let's break this one down: because I didn't commit a federal crime and risk my own safety as well as the safety of my family, I support Ubisoft? The internet gets dumber and dumber every day. Also, look up the definition of the word hypocrite. Never once pretended to feel some type of way i don't. I explained (in depth might I add) why I purchased the game. I explained how much I hate what Ubisoft has become. I explained how the actions taken by those staff members disgusted me. So, what exactly am I being hypocritical of? Edit: But you didn't read any of that. You read the first sentence of my comment and constructed a nonsensical reply based on that. Yet i don't give a damn about something? You don't even give a damn about the argument you're trying to make at this very second yet you have the nerves to sit here and critique someone else.
I respect your mindset being conflicted on whether revisiting old games is "moral" in this case, but I personally find that revisiting them really doesn't do much good for ubisoft at all, given the audience is mainly people who miss "the old days" and not current supporters of the company. At least for me, that's the appeal to those videos, that we like to reminisce with the retrospectives and whatnot. Though on the contrary there's no shortage of old content/retrospectives for us to watch so I wouldn't pressure you on making new related content to that if it doesn't feel right.
Love to see it man, needed to be said. My reaction was very similar initially - refusing to acknowledge those early games, simply because of how much this all saddened me - but I think it'll be good to eventually hop back into those and try to compartmentalise. Keep up the good work!
I loved the idea behind Valhalla but just can't for the life of me get into it no matter how hard I try. The whole Asgard part is so dragged out and uninteresting and I don't care enough to finish the final boss. They need to ditch this Witcher style combat system and go back to more stealth based gameplay. Assassin's Creed 1 and 2s combat system was a bit silly but it felt good and worked.
T.L.D.R. Seen you and channel grow, don’t stop with the content Specifically the streams & there’s plenty of ppl behind you Been around since AC3 and you got me into this series bc of how hyped of an AC fan you were! I started showing up consistently after the AC Black Flag livestream, and you said this in an Odyssey stream you follow the people that are like minded b4 committing to a game. A lot of people have enjoyed your content(including me) and we’re still probably going to get it. With that being said everything you’ve ever said since Odyssey has sunk in like a rock. It hasn’t been AC for a long time and we all wish it would go back! This is my long winded way of saying don’t stop the livestreams those are soooooo much fun but you’ve got a lot of the community behind you on wanting change so don’t give up Plz!!!!!!
I love this community and I am so glad that y’all recognized that the vibe was getting different. Just excited for the future and more 4 pillar collaborations!
I think this is the right way to go forward. It's a strange position to be in and it takes something to admit that mistakes were made, it's all a process to find the right path. But I think this is a good move
I had a lot of respect for Ubisoft years ago. I even applied to work as a game dev in Ubisoft Sofia, and I knew immediately when I fucked-up in the second interview by asking for a suspiciously low salary. I'm not surprised at all at the accusations of rampant racism and homophobia there, given it's so much the norm in this country that people look at me weird for not being homophobic.
Your stance has definitely grown on this. I will not buy any Ubisoft products until I see genuine change, but as for old Ubisoft games that I already own, I still play them. I may hate Yves Guillemot, but I still love Splinter Cell. I still love Assassin's Creed 1 and 2. I still love classic Rainbow Six, and nothing will change that. It does put me in a tough position sometimes too. I have a special affection for Cyan's Myst series. Myst 3 and 4 were published by Ubisoft (in the case of 4, developed by them), and so Ubisoft still owns part of the publishing rights. It puts me in a position where I want to buy these games because I enjoyed them when I played them as a kid, but I don't want Ubisoft to get my money. Principles are hard to live by. Like you said, though, I just played their games. I haven't interacted with anyone from there, and so I don't know that feeling of betrayal. I think the classic phrase of "separate the art from the artist" is important to remember here. A scummy company doesn't mean 'every worker is scummy', a scummy project lead doesn't mean a scummy development team, et cetera.
For a while I have felt something different with you guys, especially with the podcasts, I’m really glad about the change you guys have done, I’m not going to buy any more Ubisoft games unless change happens, even then their games are really shit rn so I’m not really missing out, just glad you guys had a revelation
I hate UA-cam.. i didn’t get any notification for this vid… 🤦🏻♂️ but anyway. Its good you’re talking about it again not from a place of emotion bc we all actually grew up with Ubisoft games what they’ve done is totally not good and like you said it hurt us and created a huge distrust and disappointment but from a different perspective and thats good. Respect for you and the other pillars for the good content. Keep doing what your doing! #holdubisoftaccountable
I must confess I play the older ubi games from time to time and yeah when I’m thinking about it it does feel weird but when I’m just gaming away and not thinking it doesn’t it’s really weird
@N7Andy it’s unstable ground that’s for sure there are definitely individuals who didn’t partake in this nonsense but you must remind me what did Ubisoft do when this came to light I’ve forgotten and for the record I don’t like politics in general it’s just not my thing
I would really like the Revelations Retrospective, but I completely understand if it doesn’t end up happening on the anniversary, or at all. You’re feelings on the whole thing is absolutely valid, but regardless of whether or not it will, I’m looking forward to the many others in the future! Looking at you Saints Row 👀
Hey James, I understand and respect this decision to move forward, and I’m 100% behind you on this. I was looking forward to the Revelations retrospective, but considering how good a reason you have for all this, I would be completely understanding if it didn’t happen. Thank you for this video, man, it’s been a good run, but I think this is the only way to move forward it Ubisoft is to, some day, realise the wrongness in their ways. Revisiting the classics is fine in my opinion, but I agree that buying the new Ubisoft games is not something I want to do personally.
At first, I was a bit confused on why you were targetting ubisoft for the same issue that other companies have and i thought it was an excuse for you not to be called an AC youtuber, but now I understand why you did what you did. Sorry for misunderstanding the situation.
@@dec2567 I think he’s referring more to the fact that he was confused why he was calling for a Ubi boycott and not, per say, and industry boycott. Although this may affect Ubi down the line, there are other companies (i.e. Blizzard) that he should advocate against as well.
@@loganponthier3119 That I understand I'm just saying he's only only one man and he doesn't have to. If people want to go after blizzard they should make a youtube channel if they feel that strongly about it.
Hey James, hope you're doing well, apart from the ubi-goings-on. The rest of this comment is unrelated to this video, but I just wanted to do two things, the first: I rarely leave comments, but I love your content. Secondly, I'm currently watching your TW3 B&W retrospective, and wanted to add something great about the writing. When Geralt and Milton leave the river, (sorry I can't quote it rn) Milton shows remorse for his past wrongdoings, and the line can in retrospect be identified as remorse for his actions relating to the exile of the duchess' sister. I can't really put it into words better now, sadly, because I noticed it on my latest playthrough several months ago. Also, apart from that there are definite issues with the higher vampire definition etc. because of cdpr (take for example the vampire who killed the Vegelbud matriarch), it might be that Geralt didn't kill Oriana in the trailer. Regis even survived being molten into a column or wall, iirc.
I used to have this stance of: I can't even look at R6, AC, FC now it just burns my soul. Then I talked to one of the main devs for R6 (part of the LGBT community) who acknowledged how wrong Ubi was doing stuff but insisted on how people "sabotaging" Their games hurt them more than the actual company because all the bad reviews and such make their hard work look bad. As well as their stories, the art they're working hard to show are being covered by all the negative stuff. Knowing the people that were not the perpetratora of all the awfull stuff benefitted directly from positive reception of new content helped me not feel as bad playing Ubi stuff. Still don't feel like giving them more money but at least I don't feel like puking every time I log into R6 or have a go at AC Valhalla. That may help you
James, do you think you could ever trust and respect Ubisoft again? Assuming genuine attempts to rectify and prevent these practices. Is your decision permanent with respect to new games?
I mean Ubisoft as an entity is HUGE, so it's tough to say if I could ever trust "Ubisoft" again, but I feel if the company has structures in pace to prevent abuse, structures that the staff themselves say are working, with people at the top who aren't abusing their power, then I probably would feel a lot more comfortable with the company.
I’m pretty drained and don’t have the energy to extrapolate, but there’s just so much in this that I respect. I’m very glad I found your channel ❤️💪 EDIT: Wow, my brain was fried… *elaborate*
Remember that the people who physically made the game were the victims in this, by the management. But while it was management’s decisions it was all the employees under orders from them who’d ‘like’ the players to play the game. I’m playing a piece of art that THEY made. It was made by someone who has a horrible story to tell but still helped make a game. As awesome or not as it may be.
You have to remember who benefits from you buying a game, it's not the people who made it, they get paid whether the game sells 1 copy or a million copies. The people who actually benefit from your purchase are the ones causing and allowed the issues within the company. The only thing they care about is their bottom line. To make sure the company is safer, I want to make sure none of my money goes to those people, because the victims are getting paid regardless. They don't get paid less because a game bombs, that's not how employment works.
@@LazerzZ True. At worst the only bad thing that could happen to those devs is that they don't get rehired to work on the next Ubisoft game (either because Ubi doesn't have enough money to justify keeping those devs due to low sales, or because Ubi management is stupid and blames the low sales on the quality of those devs' work as opposed to the active boycott and bad press). But honestly, that could be a blessing in disguise, if they get hired by a better company. However employment in the gaming industry is always uncertain, that's how these companies get away with so much sh!t. I still don't get why Ubisoft insists on protecting bad people so much though. I understand if Guillermot gets to keep his job (CEOs are rarely fired, they're usually the last to go) but I don't see why all the toxic people and the HR people who protected them don't get replaced immediately.
I think... I think it's hard to process the betrayal that comes with finding out a company/brand you loved and supported has done awful things. I think there's a ton of guilt attached. And I think it's the same kind of guilt that abuse victims walk away with. And as someone who bears both, I want to say It's OK. It's OK to be hurt by what happened, it's OK to be afraid to even talk about it, it's OK OK be angry, and it's OK to avoid anything even tangentially related to what happened for a time while you heal. But it's not your fault. What they did and are doing is not your fault. The fact that you didn't know for a long time is not your fault. And harming yourself and your friends and your followers because ubi betrayed us and harmed you is not going to fix them, and it's Really not going to hurt them. I think the boycott is and has always been a good idea, not because it'll make them fix themselves but because it's better for our goddamn mental health at this point. But I also think that at some point the next step in healing from this misplaced guilt in therapy is to talk about it, talk about the good, talk about the bad, and appreciate the place it held in your life. And we can do the same here. Your history happened. And some of it was very good! And we can't let them take that from us.
I really respect how genuine this topic is to you. I have been playing assassins creed since the original xbox. I definitely can sympathize with your thoughts.
Ubisoft is dead to me, Assassins Creed is my favourite franchise of all time from AC1-ACU i love em all. But Ubisoft never did and its clear to see in their other titles like the stale rotting series that is Far Cry, Ghost Recon and Watchdogs. While Rayman and Splinter Cell have just been left to die. And then the truth comes out about the company and its a nail in the coffin. Ubisoft is dead.
It amazes me people finally realise that ubisoft is not a good company, they never got held accountable for single player microtransactions or anything, people never realised they were just as bad as EA
I feel so blackpilled about this rn. With the launch of far cry 6 ubishite sponsored a lot of creators (ofc), and one of em is a dutch streamer I've been watching for like 8 years. He usually reads most of my messages but everytime I try to bring up the issues at the company that sponsors him and how I think he should rethink his partnership with him he always "misses" them. Last week I noticed h most likely read it and ignored it because there was a moment of silence on his streams when I wrote my comment and he just fucking ignored it. I later dm'ed him with your original video titled "the ubisoft problem" and he read it, and ignored it. It's so fucking blackpilling to see people talk about this. For a streamer that recently has been talking a lot of woke shit to then not take any action to even acknowledge ACTUAL abuse just breaks me.
Well said. It sucks that you feel guilt over anything. You and the other pillars aren’t responsible for their wrongdoings. Hopefully this way forward is more positive
First of all, welcome back James. Love seeing active uploads like the ol'days. Now let me get into it. When I found this channel it was...a breath of fresh air, we was hot on the heels of AC Empire leaks and you was cooking content regularly. I loved it. Why? Because this community was new to me. I been playing AC since 2007. Was still in primary school and all through secondary school was on AC...I dunno about you lot but in my school it was not cool to like AC, if you liked AC you was weird and was vulnerable to the typical shitty comments. For years as well. I just assumed no one liked it and I kept it to myself. Then in 2017 I found this channel. A community that felt how I felt about a game that was my favourite of all games. I felt like I could genuinely like the game for once and not silently like the game. It sucks that Ubisoft has tainted something that we all loved. I do miss the content and I hate seeing people blame people like 4P for the lack of content on the franchise. It is a noble cause to stand up against Ubisoft. People should be mad at Ubi not James, not Fizhy, not anyone from 4P. Thanks to Ubisoft it feels like its gone backwards. It is now a bad thing to like AC (or any Ubi games for that matter) I can’t openly say "I like AC" without some shit lord talking about the obvious Elephant in the room and then being ridiculed for liking said Franchise. It's like I've done what all I can as a consumer. I boycotted, I shared the Hashtag. We all stood in unison and it didn't work. An I don't want to stop playing a franchise that was a big part of my up bringing. Just such a shitty grey area right now and it's because Ubi is just a vile company now. I don't want to feel guilty for playing Far Cry or Assassin's Creed. It just sucks that I do feel guilty about it.
This is a really nice comment man, thanks so much for your input, you've articulated it incredibly well and I appreciate the support more than I can explain
I hope you one day find it inside to do a retrospective of AC1 and AC3. I love Black Flag but I can do without it to make the list smaller, plus that game is pretty much a new start without Desmond and is easily separated from it. Anyway, I would love to see a retrospective to AC1 and AC3 to finish off this era of Assassin’s Creed. And if you can’t do AC3, that’s fine. I can understand. I’m just holding out for hope that AC1 can be done. Maybe as a 15 Years Later Retrospective?
i wish i could replay ac2 and be happy, I cant replay any ac game simply because i know how the franchise is now, and its sad because i really want to replay ac 2 through revelations
Personally Ive been boycotting Assassin's Creed (which also is mine all time favorite ip) since Odessey (never finished playing it), due to my dissatisfaction of what they have done to this once unique franchise. Which is one of the very few ip's I actually have an emotional connection to since it helped me coming back from a dark place. As for all the allegations these days, I dont want to sound unsympathetic but due innocent people commited suicide due false allegations I really need evidence instead of annonymous stories in low the quality gaming media. What bothers me the most is that nobody went to their local authorities or labor representation (this goes especially for the European offices) for help but instead spoke to the press. I know everybody is raving about the civil lawsuit against Blizzard, but a civil lawsuit doesnt carries the same weight as a criminal investigation. Also the need of hard evidence isnt as severe compared to criminal lawsuits. If the allegations are true it should be a criminal investigations, another reason why I remain sceptical is due to the various studios using these events as an excuse to apply all forms of censorship in their games. Im glad your making a stance, cause I do agree when it comes to bad buisness practices the gaming community has been complicit for way to long, sayign they are against certain things and than turn around and still support an ip. Using these weird excuses like they cant help themselfs cause they are fans; but than also get annoyed when game studios dont take them seriously. You guys have my respect and if you guys ever want to organise some kind of (online) actions I wil back it. Subbed and I will actively follow your channel from now on.
It is disappointing that the guys I see as the main assassins creed guys/ Ubisoft guys will no longer talk about those topics as a boycott tho But hey at least it’s for a good reason
It’s sad to see big AAA companies being like “screw the gamers. Let’s just make the graphics look good and they’ll buy it and we’ll pump it with micro transactions” the companies whose games I grew up playing. Have become money hungry and don’t even care about the community
u shouldn't feel guilty should feel really proud of the community you've built your are so right in order to stop Ubisoft is to make noise and expose them i know that it must be hard but think of all the good you've done with the charity's you've done think about all the good and not the bad keep up the good work
Haven't bought a Ubisoft title since AC Unity. Got a full refund for it two days after purchase and haven't looked back. Absolutely and unequivocally creatively bankrupt.
You know what it is, it's a lot like jk terfling's transphobia. For many many many people they won't touch anything hp related anymore and are sickened by how much they loved it, spent on it in the past, because how could something they loved so much come from someone so twisted? But for others, hogwarts was the only place they felt accepted. They came from school where they were bullied to their home where their parents misgendered them and picked up the one book in their childhood that said hey. It's OK. We love and appreciate everyone here. Everyone's special, everyone deserves love, and no one is better than anyone. And they still love the hp series, and have managed to disconnect it from jk's horridness. And both parties are right. It's OK to abandon it completely because from a moralistic standpoint you can't support her or her properties anymore, even if you're spending no money. And its ok to death of the author the whole thing and keep the books you've had since you were 12, tattered and beaten and holding so much more that terfling ever wrote into them. (Also fanfics where all the characters are trans is a fantastic coping mechanism and i find it hilarious) It's the same damn thing. Ubi$oft is horrible, and it's OK to abandon it completely, and it's OK to continue to love and enjoy the old games and appreciate them for what they were.
Dude, couldn't have said it better myself. People are being incredibly vitriolic but the truth is just like you said, both are okay, you can do both things and it doesn't speak to who you are as a person yourself.
Don't worry about it and don't blame yourself. You have done absolutely nothing wrong. Personally, I don't mind playing the games I already have; I know the problem with the company isn't the Devs, it's the guys who are controlling the company itself. But what you are saying is understandable. Don't play anything you don't feel comfortable with, that's 100% ok.
I agree, I think it's okay to talk about Ubi. Yeah they did some bad stuff but it's impossible to be in the gaming industry without ever mentioning them.
Ghost Recon, Tom Clancy in general Assassin`s Creed All the games are now to please Fornite players... And I get asked why do I hate that fucking game... Not to forget, the infamous "We need to be diverse" video they put out a while ago... That`s what the company has gone to, complete bullshit...
lmao if you boycott every company that does something wrong within it you aint gonna play, eat or drink anything ever again. this is pathetic virtue signalling i wish i was so sheltered i could feel bad about reviewing something
I thinck this is definitly the right move. I can also really relate to your feelings about replaying these games for me personaly I just cant play ac these games they are just too linked for me to the bad stuff at Ubisoft but I really enjoy my time with the old trackmania games and dont feel guilty about the enjoyment I get out of these titles
90% of the worlds archaeologist does research on T-Rex. Of all the cancer research: 90% of the worlds scientist does research on breast cancer. Peoples willingness and fear of being left out, is the reason Ubisoft does this shit. If archaeologist had the balls to stand out and research something else then T-Rex, if scientist and people funded money for other cancers then just breast cancer. If the people working at Ubisoft had the balls to stand up, stand out and call their bosses and colleges out, the world would have been a better place today. Not just for movie fans, not just for cancer victims, but also for gamers. People need to stop assimilate if they wish progress and not stagnation in their lives. I bought all AC games from the first to Origin and I loved them all, Syndicate, Unity, Rogue, I loved them all equally. After Origin I left this company... Until the people working there stop assimilating with stupidity, they won't see me spending my money on their games.
Man you can’t help them change if Ubisoft can’t help themselves change it’s sad but true no one can’t do anything for them but themselves you guys not acknowledging them anymore isn’t gonna help their games and products are still going to sell Far cry 6 is doing pretty good for them and overall I forgot about this situation at ubi cause no one in the mainstream talks about it which is sad only a select hand few bring it up and that’s pretty much it nothings gonna change with them unless a major dedication to bring awareness literally a movement cause they won’t care if their buyers don’t so it’s just left sitting there indefinitely with no justice being held on them
I’m keeping my copy of Splinter Cell Blacklist and Chaos Theory. I don’t have many Ubisoft games tbh. They haven’t made an outstanding game since Blacklist in my honest opinion.
It's hard to separate something you love from something you want to fight against. Ubisoft did some messed up stuff, and it's hard not thinking about that when you wanna re-live something that's very personal to you. I say, you can enjoy something you love, while still being against what they're connected to.
See, I think not talking about Ubisoft is actually the best move. Encouraging your followers to abandon their games, not give them money or the time of day is better. Indifference kills whereas even bad press is ultimately good because it brings attention to the thing being talked about. Better to shut them out and encourage others to do the same.
I personally find that despite the bad people that help make the old games, the joy and positivity created from those games can still be enjoyed despite those bastards who abused people due to the fact that there were still good people who actually wanted to create something special for everyone and there efforts should not be ruined due to those bad people. It’s not anyone’s fault but the actual abusers and people who try and cover this shit up, hope you don’t feel guilty for covering those games, those people betrayed us so we’ve nothing to feel ashamed for. I hope for one day that video games can be developed in a safe environment, respect the consumer rather than try milk money and scam them and just make something that we can collectively enjoy.
I'm glad you guys are still voicing out against Ubisoft. Ubisoft has been getting away with a lot of things and most of the criticism is drowned out by blind fanboys, while people are speaking out against them there aren't as many as there used to be. And as someone who has been vocal against them and has refused to give Ubisoft money by supporting independent vendors, I am glad to see you fighting back again.
I literally just spent $24 on AC: Odyssey complete edition with the AC:3 remaster. So essentially I paid $24 for AC:3 😂 Ubisoft is a dumpster fire and has been for years. I put them in the same breath as EA.
Crossing my fingers that we still get that AC revelations retrospective
Yes. The Ac2 and Brotherhood retrospective vids are his best :)
Someone has to keep the candle lit for the possibility of getting the old Assassin's Creed back, I think he should still cover the old games.
Revelations definitely deserves the retrospective

So I'm 100% with you on this move going forward.
As someone who was introduced to this channel through your amazing AC content, I did find myself conflicted when the boycott started. BUT this also allowed me to indulge in your other content as well and appreciate you as great gaming UA-camr. The whole four pillars community is great and you all should be proud of that because so much more positivty came out of your Ubi-content than bad influence.
These lot are literally known for being bullies else where in the AC community. Just saying.
Keep this up man, need the voices out there.
It’s like they’re trying to overcompensate for their shitty corporate cultures
I honestly just replay the old games at this point. Sometimes I'll hop on Origins for the nostalgia but that's really it.
@N7Andy Salty dev overly defensive of Ubisoft... PLOT TWIST! N7Andy is a dev at Ubisoft! Lololololololol
As content creators, you guys amplify all our voices. Taking a stance of moderation and introspection (while speaking out about Ubisoft’s issues) is something we all appreciate. 💪🏻
Definitely understand the initial reaction, but I'm glad to hear this. I hope you're doing all right
earlier this year i bought the ezio collection and played through 2 and brotherhood. after hearing about everything i genuinely couldnt bring myself to play revelations or even replay black flag which is my favourite in the series and the first ac i ever played. the whole situation is just saddening
I so miss the old days of you sitting down and playing through the Ezio Collection or Black Flag or Unity with commentary 😥
The bravest man is the one who speaks his heart. Nothing but RESPECT and LOVE for you James. It takes a set of stones to come out and say this👏🏻👑
It's sad to say this but I gave in and bought Far Cry 6.
If time travel was invented I would go back to 2017 and bring James to the present so he can battle modern james in a ubisoft fan vs boycotter debate.
Exactly. The ubisoft that made revelations just isn't the same company anymore
T.L.D.R. Seen you and channel grow, don’t stop with the content Specifically the streams & there’s plenty of ppl behind you
Been around since AC3 and you got me into this series bc of how hyped of an AC fan you were!
What country? Bulgaria?
Brilliant video! I love how you always speak from the heart James!
For a while I have felt something different with you guys, especially with the podcasts, I’m really glad about the change you guys have done, I’m not going to buy any more Ubisoft games unless change happens, even then their games are really shit rn so I’m not really missing out, just glad you guys had a revelation
It's a lot like finally realizing your partner is abusive, and escaping. It's a form of trauma.
Don’t give up your the mentor now
I hate UA-cam.. i didn’t get any notification for this vid… 🤦🏻♂️ but anyway.
@N7Andy perhaps because what ubi has done is at the back of my mind but nevertheless I mostly agree the older ubi games entertain me
@N7Andy it’s unstable ground that’s for sure there are definitely individuals who didn’t partake in this nonsense but you must remind me what did Ubisoft do when this came to light I’ve forgotten and for the record I don’t like politics in general it’s just not my thing
Love the positivity my guy. 🤙
At first, I was a bit confused on why you were targetting ubisoft for the same issue that other companies have and i thought it was an excuse for you not to be called an AC youtuber, but now I understand why you did what you did. Sorry for misunderstanding the situation.
If you have a problem with a company you don't have to target all companies to be justified. Should he call out China to? He's only one man.
@@dec2567 yeah that is what he was saying in the video as well and now I get that
Hey James, hope you're doing well, apart from the ubi-goings-on.
Well spoken James!
This is the right thing to do both for you and the community
I know I am not James but I would be able to if they were bought by Sony and gutted.
They destroyed AC, and this Infinity crappyfest it's just another nail in the franchise's rotten coffin.
RIP Assassin's Creed:2007-2014
I’m pretty drained and don’t have the energy to extrapolate, but there’s just so much in this that I respect. I’m very glad I found your channel ❤️💪
EDIT: Wow, my brain was fried… *elaborate*
I understand if Guillermot gets to keep his job (CEOs are rarely fired, they're usually the last to go) but I don't see why all the toxic people and the HR people who protected them don't get replaced immediately.
it's just like castillo said in far cry 6 people don't question where our phones are made or who made them but we still use them.
Wait... who MADE Far Cry 6?
...oh...
Oh ffs
This is great for the future of the community instead of hiding from the past we can just remember those fun times and memories
Although I do hope the Revelations retrospective will still come to fruition, I understand if it doesn’t. Huge respect for you James
Agreed. Assassin's Creed is one of my favorite franchises, but it died with Syndicate IMO. Unity was the last good AC game.
It amazes me people finally realise that ubisoft is not a good company, they never got held accountable for single player microtransactions or anything, people never realised they were just as bad as EA
Couldn’t even finish Valhalla jumping back to brotherhood a game I got into when I first had a Xbox 360 glad your not covering bad Ubisoft games
In my opinion you could use part of this Revelations retrospective video as another way to get the message across and holding Ubisoft accountable
Good job sir. I too am boycotting Ubisoft. Besides the toxic work environment, the company has truly lost its identity.
I used to love that company. Loved AC and Watch dogs. Can’t support what they are doing and I feel the same way you do.
Im pretty much at the same point with ubisoft i havent bought a game from them since origins
They got rid of the animus control panel for ac origins but kept the button to use it but it just doesn't work.
i wish i could replay ac2 and be happy, I cant replay any ac game simply because i know how the franchise is now, and its sad because i really want to replay ac 2 through revelations
Damn Ubisoft completely ruined an amazing franchise and it actually looked hopeful after orgins
It is disappointing that the guys I see as the main assassins creed guys/ Ubisoft guys will no longer talk about those topics as a boycott tho
But hey at least it’s for a good reason

Definitely a step in the right direction. I'm happy to see it

Hi James, hope all is well.
Haven't bought a Ubisoft title since AC Unity. Got a full refund for it two days after purchase and haven't looked back.
Absolutely and unequivocally creatively bankrupt.
I support you! I uninstalled uplay after breakpoint. After frontline reveal, it only reinforced my decision.
(Also fanfics where all the characters are trans is a fantastic coping mechanism and i find it hilarious)
It's the same damn thing.

Until the people working there stop assimilating with stupidity, they won't see me spending my money on their games.
ok but heres my question, where do you draw the line between the new and the old games?
@xvetc origins is much better than Valhalla but hey, it's his opinion
Even on the ghost recon side. Everyone ask for a wildlands 2 type of sequel but instead they reveal battle royal game. No one asked for
Man you can’t help them change if Ubisoft can’t help themselves change it’s sad but true no one can’t do anything for them but themselves you guys not acknowledging them anymore isn’t gonna help their games and products are still going to sell Far cry 6 is doing pretty good for them and overall I forgot about this situation at ubi cause no one in the mainstream talks about it which is sad only a select hand few bring it up and that’s pretty much it nothings gonna change with them unless a major dedication to bring awareness literally a movement cause they won’t care if their buyers don’t so it’s just left sitting there indefinitely with no justice being held on them
I’m keeping my copy of Splinter Cell Blacklist and Chaos Theory. I don’t have many Ubisoft games tbh. They haven’t made an outstanding game since Blacklist in my honest opinion.
Dude, buy their games on sale, ubi has a lot of cool older games.
@@jeanniemaycrawford4466 nah I’m good
It's hard to separate something you love from something you want to fight against.
"independent vendors"?
@@SidheKnight Individuals who sell on third-party websites, like eBay or Amazon.
@@65firered Ahh. Got it.
Glad most of these comments are pretty positive and understanding of the situation, but some of them are just... oh god
I literally just spent $24 on AC: Odyssey complete edition with the AC:3 remaster. So essentially I paid $24 for AC:3 😂 Ubisoft is a dumpster fire and has been for years. I put them in the same breath as EA.
Ubisoft has done or said nothing about whats happening with it. If anything, they're good at hiding important and awful shit like that.
I'm so proud of u for making this video James.
