Randomly grabbed Hagnesta Hill from a street vendor selling CDs in Istanbul 20 years ago just because the album cover was striking! Still one of my favorite albums of all time, pretty much every song is good/a classic in its own right. ♥️

My sister and I listened to Kent a lot, she bought the CD back when you bought CDs and we listened to the whole thing even though we didn't understand Swedish.
Yes, swedish original version is better, but this was the very first Kent song I ever heard in my life, back in 2003. In english. 2 years later I was watching them live in Jonköping, Sweden. So, thanks to the english versions I could know about Kent on a TV pop show in Brazil, something that would NEVER happen if they would sing only in swedish. Cheers!

@burteriksson They needed help with their English songwriting. "Music Non Stop" is actually one of the better ones even if it has lost of a lot of its original meaning. But for example, I love the song "Kungen är död", but "The King is Dead" doesn't make a bit of sense and includes phrases that sound very jarring or even nonsensical to a native English speaker, like "I take a charge at my chance" and "It drives him in hard to the sane". If Berg had found another writer to help him and they had actually finished the English version of Vapen & Ammunition (which I'd say is the album where they really hit their stride), I bet things would have gone very differently for them.

Glad Kent’s elegant music has been a well kept secret in the pass of time , they have been so infuencial but only a few have really listened to their music ! I feel bands like the Killers would not sound the same if Kent didn’t exist ! ❤️🔥

It’s been more than 20 years past since I first heard this song and it still gives me goosebumps
This is the only song of Kent’s that made it to Australian radio from what I remember. They should have been absolutely massive over here, but it sadly didn’t happen for them. Still a great song.
I think the English versions of the lyrics didn't really cut it. All the subtle and catchy things got lost. Just like Bob Hund (look them up) they weren't comfortable with the English language in such a way that it neither felt quirky or natural. Compare it to ABBA who kept it simple, catchy and sweet.
@@azynkron Agree completely. The meanings of things got obliterated in translation, and they weren't really replaced with anything that made sense. They'd keep certain words or images, but would alter things around them so drastically that they don't mean the same thing anymore, or even anything at all. Sometimes individual lines just sound nonsensical to a native speaker, like "It drives him in hard to the sane and the simple soul". I'm not an ABBA fan, but I never had that "Oof, that's not what English sounds like" reaction to them that I often have to Kent's attempts at English.
I set this as my morning alarm. it brings me a good mood and luck everyday. Thank you Kent.
I discovered them while being an exchange student in Finland where Neighbor Sweden is quite present because 5% of the population in Finland is Swedish speaking. SUOMI !!!
It's a real shame they never took off in the US, this song is amazing in both languages, and they had the ability to appeal to all audiences.
I'm an American who is learning more than one language, and Swedish is one of them, Kent's songs are easy for me to learn in both languages, I wish I could have seen them live, but they were unfortunately primarily relegated to Sweden.

Well they ve tried to tour in 97-00.They were gonna also make english vers of the 2002 album but then they gave up.They reduced their expectations.Its directly about with confidence.

Thanks to my Norwegian course I now know that this was a famous Swedish band and that their special sound is widespread in their discography! I liked this song back in the 2000s! The Swedish prototype is great too! The Scandinavians are so calm.
Its really weird, I have 747 and got that album because of 'If you were here" and know this song from Mercenary and got use to their cover. But this is nice cool easy feel to it. Both versions easily stand by themselves. Outstanding bands. Outstanding music. Truly it should be Music Non Stop.
